Had the chicken burrito/wrap deal and it was very good! The salsa was also very interesting, I believe its made with olives. I was a little apprehensive at trying this place, being a mexican joint with an italian twist, but was very pleased! I'll be back, the place was cheap and good!
Review Source:Although it is thrilling that Privata is back, I found a few heartbreaking ingredient changes. The new chicken burrito is very green, with lettuce and black beans accompanying the chicken, whereas the old chicken burrito had AMAZING patatas bravas-tasting taters inside and an orangey color to match. However, I will go back again and again for the olive (black) salsa and the friendly service.
I think Wednesdays are discount teacher nights.
This is the third or fourth re-incarnation of this Italian-Mexican fusion cafe. Privata is now located at 856 N. Ashland and is open for dinner Tues-Saturday (until 11), and burnch on Sunday. Â 773-263-5707.

Privata has been in the Ukranian Village neighborhood for around 15 years now. It's latest location was on Damen Avenue, but that location closed a couple of years ago. In the past, Privata has received glowing reviews, and it seems that that is unlikely to change now. In its latest form, Privata serves up large portions of pastas, burritos, rice, and pizzas. Each dish has a mixture of Italian and Mexican influences, which makes for an interesting change of pace from standard Italian or Mexican fare. The menu isn't large, but everything on the menu is very tempting.
I came here on a Saturday night with a friend. I had the Marinara Diablo (a pasta dish with crusted tomatoes, herbs, ancho peppers, and roasted corn). My friend had a chicken burrito. The portion sizes for both were huge, and the prices were great (our total bill was under $20). Both meals were delicious and more than we could finish in one sitting. They served chips and salsa as an appetizer, but the salsa is an interesting black-olive based salsa. They even sent some home with the portion of our meal that we were unable to finish.
The new space is small, but charming. The employees are very enthusiastic and attentive. The cafe wasn't very busy, but that is sure to change as word gets around, especially since Privata is BYOB. For now, Privata is cash only, but credit cards will be accepted soon.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Privata, and it  now on my list of neighborhood favorites. It is definitely worth a try if you are in the mood for something a little different, but low-key.
