Puerto Vallarta became the site of Saturday night's dinner because my boyfriend and I were looking for an inexpensive non-chain place to have a relaxing meal. Â The first thing that we noticed was that the menu was huge with numerous specials as well as 30 different combination dinners to choose from. Â I ate nearly the entire bowl of complimentary chips and salsa while trying to work my way through the menu. Â I finally settled on the IS Special (strips of marinated chicken over rice topped with cheese sauce) and my boyfriend selected a selection of enchiladas (one bean, one cheese, one beef, one chicken). Â When the food came out, both my boyfriend and I commented on the poor presentation. Â It just looked boring. Â However, it tasted great. Â My IS Special had an uncurrent of spice but was rich and cheesy. Â However, I have to state that I found a shrimp (shellfish) in my chicken dish which causes me great concern about allergen cross contamination. Â If you have a severe shellfish allergy this may not be the best choice of restaurant as they don't appear to have good protocol in place for preventing cross over. Â I'm deducting two stars for this health hazard and for the poor presentation of the dishes.
Review Source:We were told by a family member that this place served good mexican fare.
Finally we found it after driving in circles for 10 minutes.
Seated immediately at lunchtime and there were only 2 other couples in the place.
The chips n salsa were good,my tamale dinner was ok and the wife enjoyed her steak fajitas,no leftovers is usually a good sign.
We would visit again.
