Sat outside which was buggy but nice seating. Restaurant looks hip and fun inside with cool decor.
Pros
First ordered bubbly sake which was disgusting but waitress happily took it off the bill after trying herself. Â Presentation of food was great.
Cons
Appetizer (tuna tartar) was completely forgotten. Sushi was presented well but tasted mediocre at best. Fish seemed to be fresh but instead of sushimi, sushi was given (for both of us). Ordered two speciality rolls, both were not good combinations for flavor and would not have ordered either again (even though they were apparently favorites according to waitress).
So, I guess I'm about to be the debbie downer being that all the other reviews are 5 stars. I give it a 2.5.
Keep in mind, I'm pretty easy to please.
First of all, I will say the manager gets 5 stars (and then some!). He was amazing and worked hard the whole night. He was extremely attentive. He talked to us throughout our dinner, suggested menu items, cleared and replaced our dirty utensils and napkins, and when our reserved table wasn't ready he gave us drinks while we waited.
Everything else, however, was not 5 stars.
Food:
The bread was good and hot. The Fire and Ice shrimp app was good (although very similar to Bang Bang Shrimp down the road at Bonefish which is a lot better).
The sushi was ok. I ordered one of the special rolls and was disappointed. Usually, when you order a special roll, its a lot bigger than normal rolls and just has more to it. This was pretty ordinary to me. For $15 for one roll, I want something with substance.
The ribeye was $36 and not worth it. Completely fatty. Sorry, people! If I'm paying $36 for something, it better taste great. (The piece I tried I had to spit out. How embarrassing!)
The bread may have been the best part for me honestly.
Service:
Fair. Our waiter was nice enough, but we got more attention from the manager throughout the entire dinner.
The hostesses were dressed very inappropriately. I guess I would require some type of dress code for my hostesses- hint: tights are not pants (I can see your girlie parts!). The two girls who greeted us were also very confused trying to figure out where to seat us. We did have reservations..
Decor:
I understand that this place turns into a lounge at night (its open til 2 am), but during dinner hours it still looks like a club.
The seating area by the bar looked really cute!.. until we sat down (we sat there while waiting for our table). The tables were not the right height for the mini chairs so we couldn't fit our legs under the table at all.
Atmosphere:
Club beats were being played throughout dinner. Neon lights were on at the bar area. The entrance and sushi area had Asian decor (aka Buddhas) but this wasn't found elsewhere in the restaurant. I don't know, I felt like they were confused.
The crowd was also full-on guido.
Seating:
I understand that more tables and seats = bigger profit. However, I feel this should be forfeited for the customer's comfort. Our table was clearly jammed in for extra seating and every time another customer or any staff member walked by, our shoulders got walked into. That's really uncomfortable! Not to mention, our table was so tiny that we didn't want to order waters because there was no room for them! We noticed next to us that the same sized tiny table was being used for a ridiculous amount of people (two of those small tables for 7 people). Â The booth area on the back wall was probably better.
Side note- fix your bathroom door. I had to slam it shut 3 times before it would even close.
I don't see this place last long unfortunately.
Bread was warm, but didn't taste that good. Appetizer was very small -- tasted decent though (3 tiny sea bass & shrimp cheviche tacos for $12). The 21 pc Chef's Sashimi is a good deal at $28, it was fresh but the salad and miso soup were just ok. The decor is nice and clean since everything is new. The wait staff although friendly and pleasant were not very knowledgeable and quite inexperienced. There are too many waiters and waitresses standing around doing nothing. For 8pm on a Friday night it was not very busy. Also alot of these 5 star reviews are suspect as if friends/staff have written them (most of them only have written 1-2 reviews).
Review Source:I love this place. The atmosphere is super chic. The service is excellent. Everyone is extremely helpful and attentive. Â I have been to the happy hour twice, and the drinks are delicious. I love when a bartender suggest a specific wine or drink with your meal. The food exceeded my expectations. In my experience a beautiful place with great decor equals average/bland food. This is not the case here. So far I had the ribs and the chicken dumplings and they were quite tasty. Each suggested by the bartenders! My favorite drink is the dragonberry mojito, but I have not had a bad drink yet. I can't wait to try the dessert. Great add for Parsippany.!
Review Source:I'm so happy that such a gorgeous fusion restaurant has opened up in Parsippany! Â I took my bf out as a thank you last night and we were blown away by the atmosphere, the service, the drinks, and most importantly, the food! Â I ordered the rack of lamb, which was the best I've ever had. Â I'm a huge lychee fan, and was so happy to see I could get a lychee martini right here in town instead of going all the way to the city after a day of working. Â The service was very professional, courteous, and helpful with making suggestions from the menu. Â I am definitely coming back because there is so much more I would like to try there!
Review Source:This place is awesome. I ordered a rib eye steak and it was prepared perfectly as ordered. Â Great chef. Server (Ryan) was awesome and very attentive.. He was right there every time.... didn't miss a beat! I also ordered a sushi appetizer which was great. Desserts are out of this world. Â I highly recommend this establishment.
Review Source:The ambiance is fantastic, the food is delicious and the service was great. Â The hostess especially had wonderful customer service. Â I had the volcano roll and not only was it delicious but the presentation was gorgeous! Â I also had the Dragonberry Mojito. Â I'm not a fan of mojitos as much as I am of martinis, but decided to try it after a friend's reco...the drink was incredible - it is a definite must-have at this place!
Review Source:This place is awesome. The sushi is amazing - I'm enjoying the Tom yum soup as we speak - the hamachi appetizer is top notch. Â Decor and service are amazing. You really need to try this place - the variety is overwhelmingly awesome from steal to sushi - this new addition will now be one of my regular spots. Btw - wine list has great variety - kudos to the new kid on the block!
