Adult shakes. Enough said right there.
A friend and I popped in earlier in the week. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the summer temps and wind. PYT turned out to be a low-key place to catch up without feeling rushed out, though I'd assume that atmosphere changes when the Piazza hosts events.
She chose the veggie hot dog and raved about it. Since I had already eaten, I opted to try the Cookie Monster adult shake. Heaven, heaven, HEAVEN.
I also liked their bathrooms. That's probably an odd point to add, but they're different. Check them out.
I've never felt the need to write a review until coming to PYT. They're  such a unique place with such amazing food but for being a burger place the service is god awful. I have been there 3 times and every time I go and give them another chance to prove me wrong, I am sitting there either dying of thirst because the waitress doesn't refill my water, dying of hunger because my food hasn't come in the past 30minutes, or ready to dine and ditch because the waitress doesn't come with the check even though I've been sitting with an empty plate for like another 10 minutes. The food and the place is an experience all in itself but I shouldn't be sitting there for over an hour just for a burger place. They need to work on turning tables a little quicker.
Review Source:The service was quick here and they had a nice interior and tables outside with a nice view of the courtyard which included a giant outdoor TV. Â They have a good beer selection which included Troegs Dream Weaver, which is an excellent choice if you are there. Â I had a burger which was delicious and some onion rings which are out of this world. I'm a onion ring fanatic and this place holds it down. Â It's also located in a nice little area with some nice boutiques, record shops, and even a cool toy store with hard to find new collectibles. Â The reason we came here was because a friend got kicked out of great adventure for a cigarette so we decided to venture to the city of brotherly love. Even though we were pissed about GA, we still ended up having a good time out there.
Review Source:Since it opened a few years ago, I've been intrigued by PYT. They've wisely kept themselves in the Philadelphia mindset by rolling out some outrageous burgers and shakes. I was beginning to think I'd never make it out there until a snafu in some other plans had me finally sitting in one of their funky booths.
It was definitely more kitschy than I expected. Â The cherry wall paper, cartoon foods yelling at me to try things on the menu. Lest you think I mean this as a bad thing, I actually found this more endearing than the hipster dive decor that I was expecting. It was also smaller than I thought too, however on this Thursday night, we were say and dealt with immediately.
There were a ton of interesting menu choices, enough to have me interested in a return visit. Â That said, I simply wanted a burger and nothing else ( except for my free beer, obtained by Yelp for checking in). The question was if I wanted a simple burger or a wacky one.
Ultimately, I used Fat Guy logic and said, " Well, I'm here therefore I should go all out", leading me to try the Philly Burger with tots. I'm not going to say that I completely regret my decision but in retrospect I should have kept it simple, for no other reason that I could rate their burger for its taste as a burger, without the bells and whistles.
I did enjoy the Philly burger , but I couldn't tell you how the burger tastes as it was piled high with cheesesteak and wiz all on a soft pretzel bun. This was truly a taste if Philly and we should be encouraging tourists to come here and get their Philly fix in one sitting. The only detriment to this sandwich is the pure nature of soft pretzels. We all know that a good soft pretzel is only " soft" for about an hour after its baked. Therefore, don't be surprised if the bun is a little tough by the time you get it. That's just Philly pretzels , people!
Overall, I really liked the PYT experience. It's good, non pretentious food in the heart of No Libs. Kudos to Tommy Up and his staff of wonderfully , scantily clad servers!ill be back to try a boozy shake.
Came here last Saturday with a few friends for lunch. We all heard about their insane burgers and we were excited, albeit a little nervous, about what awaited us here. There was no wait when we came in and we were promptly seated. Service was pretty attentive, and yes, most of the staff here are of the tattoo-ed and tattered clothing wearing variety.
I decided to get the veggie loaded nacho burger. The burger was fine, but I wish the patty was a little bit crispier and not as mushy. It didn't really remind me of nachos, either, though the taco tots that came with the burger was rather good. Everybody else in my party also felt the same way about their burgers: they thought the burgers were fine, but nothing was absolutely amazing.
I will say, though, the birthday cake shake was delicious. I would come back here just to have that again and/or some of their other adult shakes.
Nice place to stop when you are looking for a burger in Northern Liberties. Had the lobster burger and it was stuffed with lots of delish lobster meat. The burger was very good and cooked to exactly medium rare. Also a plus enjoyed the check in free beer. Decor looks a little worn out but with good food and friendly service who cares.
Review Source:I don't know why, I just can't love PYT. Maybe it's that sometimes when I come in I can see the server's ass (we get it you're cool kids, now please wear actual clothes to work, I don't want to be assaulted by your ass cheeks while I'm eating), or maybe it's that the food is really inconsistent. They either go too big, or too bland but never seem to hit the mark for me.
I tried the Veggie Loaded Taco Burger, and all I really noted was that it was a mushy mess. I get it, it's a black bean burger and there's bound to be some mush, but they didn't even crisp the outside of it and it was simply bland. Even with taco fixings on it. The side salad I ordered was 3 dried out cucumber slices, some chopped up tomato and lettuce. They didn't even toss it (bahaha they failed to toss my salad).
Yesterday a friend ordered the Gazpacho which was essentially chunky salsa served cold. I mean they even served it to her with nachos on the plate. No good, PYT no good.
I love the shakes, but then again put booze in any ice cream and I'm bound to fall in love.
I did have really high hopes for the Thai cocktail yesterday, which was to include a 'black pepper puree' but honestly even with a developed palate all I could taste in it was tequila...disappointing.
We went because the burgers created here, create buzz. I Â had to try the Tastykake- bunned offering, and we were both intrigued by the adult shakes. We were seated immediately, but the service was a bit sluggish. The shakes arrived, and pleased us nicely. When the burgers got there, I SO wanted to be blown clean away. One of the first things that's important for me is the temp of the meat. Med Rare is not a challenge, but you'd be amazed....PYT failed on the 2 med rares ordered by our table. Now, don't get me wrong; the creativity behind these burgers is top-notch,.... the execution, not so much. the rest of the plate is pedestrian as well; basic Sysco/US Foods fries, prerequisite pickle wedge. The other item I wanted to bring up is one that not many think about, until it's brought up. In a spot like this, where the menu encourages an extended sit-down, the establishment should most certainly consider more comfy chairs. The hard plastic things that they have now, are more geared to say, a McDonald's. While the burger was innovative, it was not exactly the highlight I was seeking. In a spot like this, more than just kinky come-ons from the grill will be necessary to get me back.
Review Source:Creative and fun burgers. A friend and I went on a Saturday night and had to wait about 20 minutes which wasn't a deal breaker. I got the Korean BBQ burger and my friends got last week's Burger of the Week, the lasagna meatball burger.
Really liked the Korean BBQ, but the lasagne I feel was more of an experiment than anything else. The "meatball" seemed a bit dry and the lasagna was not very flavorful. I tried to justify the lasagna lacking flavor because it's supposed to be the "bun" but the meat being dry was pushing it. It wasn't bad mind you, just not something I would get next time.
But the with variety of different choices on the menu, I can't knock them on tring something new. I really respect the bold move and the creativity of the lasagna burger and of course my Korean BBQ burger (which has LEGIT kimchi on it) was on point!
Would really like to go back and try some of the other creations that they have.
Loved the old PYT not the new one so much. They used to open up the back room, went back and now everything has changed. I believe in change but sometimes what isn't broken doesn't needing fixing. Speaking on atmosphere, as far as food goes thisis definitely the spot to go for crazy burgers, greasy but very creative selection of burgers. My last time here was blah or maybe because of who I was with. Will totally come back when in town.
Review Source:Ugh. PYT.
Pros - delicious and creative burgers. Plus, alcoholic ginger beer.
Cons - everything else. We had to wait 45 minutes, then another TWO AND A HALF HOURS before we got our food. Our waitress was very rude, probably because we were a party of 10 and she was guaranteed her 20% tip. Then, to pour salt into the gaping wound, she accidentally charged me $117 instead of $17 on my credit card. (Causing me to overdraft, but that is a financially irresponsible story for another day). When I pointed this out, she was rude, gave the least sincere apology I've ever experienced, and then just handed me $100 in cash.
While my buffalo pretzel crisp and lasagna burger (don't judge, I split with a friend) were mighty delicious, I would never go back thanks to the service alone.
Meh. Went here for a late lunch / early dinner on a Saturday and waited a good 10 minutes for a table despite their being plenty of open & clean tables. I wasn't too impressed with the food and the prices were a little high but hey, they say this place is pretty hip and cool! Prices are a little more than I'd like to pay though
Review Source:I don't understand the appeal of this place other than the "big kid" factor. Â I guess it's okay if you want your food coated in grease, then sure, by all means. Â You better enjoy the atmosphere here too since you'll always have to wait a long time along with having long intervals between service.
One of the most disappointing aspects of this place is the Party Fries. Â They basically take extra greasy fries and drown them in Cheeze Whiz. Â It was hard to tell if there were any other ingredients in the dish.
If you're going to pay these kinds of prices at this kind of place, it'd be nice if there was a bit more nuance to the cooking other than "drown in sauce". Â At least they have beer.
OMG. One of the best burger places i have been to. They are the gourmet of 'Gourmet burgers' !! They have the most interesting food but it all looks so appetizing. Their adult milkshakes are amazing too, especially the birthday cake one infused with vodka. The atmosphere is definitely Hipster-ish and there is a live DJ that comes on the weekends. Its located in the Piazza so theres always stuff going on, and places to shop. I cannot wait to go back there!
Review Source:I came here starving after a Yards Brewery tour (which isn't too far down the road). We started out with the chips and dip because we needed food immediately. It was a tasty app, but I think they could have given us a bit more dip for the amount of chips and pita it came with. I ordered the lobster crabcake burger, which was very tasty. It came with old bay fries which were a nice touch but nothing special (just sprinkled with old bay seasoning). My boyfriend had a beefy burger that he liked. Bonus points for offering a free lager when you check in through foursquare or yelp!
Review Source:Been here about 4 times and each time, the service is pretty slow. May possibly be because it is usually busy but still..
Today the boyfriend wanted a burger so we stopped by and he ordered a BBQ Burger $12. I had a bite and really liked the thin-cut onion rings inside.
I didn't want anything too freasy so I ordered the Veggie Loaded Nacho Burger $12. I'm not a huge veggie person but it's not bad. The texture of the patty they made was a bit weird for me though. I love avocado but there was only a small bit in the burger. This was suppose to come with taco fries but the fries that came out were normal fries.
The last time I was here I had the Chicken Sriracha Burger aka The Firebird which was really pretty good except for the onion rings inside. They were good but so so salty.
My friend ordered the Bakey Tots which were 8 tater tots wrapped with jalapeño and bacon. Totally not worth $11!
Oh! And I really like their Chips 'N Dips $6! Very tasty!
And our waiter Marco is cool =) I think he is also the first waiter we had here and when asked where the bathroom was, he pointed me in the direction and told me "it's a co-ed bathroom so don't be alarmed if you see a guy in there."
So... I know this place is over priced. The servers definitely have room for improvement. I can literally feel my arteries clogging up while eating here. When looking back, the burgers aren't always the best. Why do I come back????! Why am I a fan?
The unique and creative food and their happy go lucky ambiance are this restaurant's shining points. Even when the service is a little rude or inattentive, I love coming here because the food creations are fun and the decor in the restaurant is pretty awesome. (I also like their bathroom.. you will see!) Their regular menu isn't all THAT super creative, but there are a few gems. The pistachio crusted lamb burger was awesome. The lobster burger and the korean burger are my favorites. Krispy kreme donuts? I'll get a heart attack eating these, but I obviously can not help myself :(. I follow PYT on Facebook, and they announce a special new burger for each week! Some of the creations are awesome - drunken noodle burger with peanut sauce. Dooood.
Their food isn't all awesome though. I was sorely disappointed in their tater tot appetizer - the one with bacon and jalepeno? Wayyy too expensive for like 8 tater tots. Sigh...
In all honestly, PYT has a lot of things I hate about it. I wish the burgers were better executed, I wish the place was a little cheaper, I wish the servers were a little more amicable. But still, PYT will hold a special place in my heart.
I went here because of the unique menu and Groupon deal.
Overall the service was good. My waiter was laid back and nice.
I thought my Cheesesteak Pretzel Roll Burger and the Pistachio Crusted Lamb Burger were just average. One of our burgers weren't cooked to what we specify. The burger itself was huge and I think it ended up causing the flavors to misfire.
The overall experience was still unique. The decor was something new and the area is nice too. Next time I'll try something else. I haven't lost hope on this place yet.
How I got to try The Bacon Taco., it was sexy and sinful! Â Five stars isn't enough. Â I want to give them 10 stars!
I had planned a trip to Philly to visit friends, and we decided to make it a gastro-trip, where we tried different foods that have been featured on TV and food shows. Â Our friends recommended PYT. Â I looked up the menu online and saw the Bacon Taco burger , which is now my Yelp profile picture, had been gettting a lot of attention. Â Of the two things we wanted to try , the Krispy Kreme sliders, are no longer served because the local Krispy Kreme closed and the Bacon Taco Burger was sold out, because it is complicated to make, so supply is limited.
On to plan B. My second choice was the Piclkleback burger, we had some drinks and ordered. Â The pickleback was awesome. 'Im not a fan of onions, but the carmelized onions with the fried pickles and Jameson glaze were perfect. Â We did the pickleback shot too, Jameson whiskey with a pickle juice shot chaser. Â Amazing! Â Sounds gross, but was awesome. Â The music was all from the 80's, the atmosphere was young and hip and laid back. Â Not the place I would usually pick, but after a 7 hour drive, it was perfect to relax. Â The service was attentive, and in my opinion, way above the level of a typical burger griil and bar. Â They were busy, so there was some extended wait times, but we were relaxing and catching up. Â Maybe not the place to go if you are in a hurry. Â
In talking to our server, we mentioned that we had traveled 400 miles, and wished we could have tried the Bacon Taco. Â This is the point where awesome meets blow my socks off. Â The manager, Paul, comes over and says that he heard we traveled to try the bacon taco. Â He explains that the taco is time consuming to make and limited to first come first served, and that they usually sell out early. Â He invites us to come back the next day, and says that he will make an exception because of how far we traveled and make sure we get a chance to try the taco. Â
So, that we did. Â We were heading downtown the next day again anyway (and downtown is about a 40 minute drive from where we were staying with friends). Â We make our way back, and sure enough, two taco's are set aside. Â AMAZING! Â Where else does this happen? Â It literally became the highlight of the entire trip!
Pepper bacon woven, then shaped into a shell. Â Crispy, not greasy. Â Crunchy like a hard shell taco, dressed with lettuce and tomato, an avocado aioli and a half burger. Â Served with chips and pico de gallo. Â It was sexy and sinful and delicious. Â
Now, I have been to many restaurants with popular items that sell out. Â I have never received such outstanding service and and accommodation. Â And the service was consistent over both days. Â These are employees who clearly love their jobs, take pride in what they do, and went way above and beyond to make sure this guy from Niagara Falls got his Bacon Taco. Â If I had a restaurant, I would hire them! Â
If you are in Philly, go to PYT. Â If you love outstanding service at a fair price, or just want to try this amazing burger, then go to PYT. Â Make it a roadtrip if you have to, and if you live locally, check this place out. Â Just make sure you get there early for the Bacon Taco!!
PYT, never again.
I found out tonight that PYT is home to a $26 hamburger. I was very excited about eating at PYT. I wanted either the Han Dynasty burger or the Korean burger. We got to the restaurant and there was only a 20 minute wait with 5 parties in front of us.
After waiting about 20 minutes, we were seated by a hostess who was very nice. Our waitress came out to the table next to us with drinks and spilled the drink (a small one) right in the guys lap (hey, it happens). She then grabbed the glass from between the guys legs while asking him if he needed a rag and if he was really wet.
After dealing with that situation, she brought us glasses of water and explained that they had run out of the Han dynasty burger, a bunch of other items and had one Korean Burger left. I didn't immediately jump on the Korean burger so I missed out on it and had to decide on something else.
While I was deciding, the person I was with explained to the waitress that she has a nut allergy and would like to know what kind of oil the fries are cooked in. The waitress left to ask the manager about the fries and about any nuts in the various menu items. When she returned she asked if the allergy was 'severe', in a gut reaction the response was yes to the waitress. She responded with "The fries aren't cooked in any peanut oil but my manager suggested that if you have a severe nut allergy you shouldn't eat anything on the menu.". The waitress also had a long explanation about how they haven't had the Han Dynasty burger in days (which is cooked with peanut oil on the grill btw) so the grill "could be safe" for those with nut allergies.
At this point I decided I'd try the bacon taco burger and I told the waitress if they didn't have it, bring me the fat boy burger. The person I was eating with risked her life and ordered a Philly steak pretzel burger. A few minutes later, it seemed, our burgers arrived. As I stared down at my plate, I was perplexed as I had ordered a burger that was $13 and it was significantly smaller than the burger sitting across from mine. Further investigation led me to find that I had just ordered half a burger patty, wrapped in 6 slices of bacon topped with a dash of shredded lettuce, tomato and cheese.
The waitress stopped back to check on us and asked me "Isn't it the best thing you've ever eaten?" I quietly said "no, it's not". The conversation continued and I explained in my quiet tone of voice that, it's half a burger. The only response was "But it's wrapped in bacon!" and a typical "Enjoy!" as she scattered away. The fact that she said "Enjoy" Â after I told her, in so many words, I'm totally disappointed in the food you just put in front of me.
I don't return food and I guess it's my fault for not reading the menu and asking exactly what I was ordering. Next time I order a burger at PYT I'll be sure to ask "Does this burger come with a full patty or is it just a half?"
I want to love you always, but lately, to handle the annoying drinking crowd, you've decided to make the best place for late night burgers a bit...less friendly. Â Closing the kitchen down an hour early makes me SO sad.
The burgers are overpriced considering you have to wait 45 minutes sometimes to get them. Â I use to be okay with that, but since the crowd has changed and it's noisy all the time, I can't give you more stars.
Still good for brunch unless there's a sports game on with a home team. Â Then it gets painful.
Not a fan of their over priced menu for the type of food served. Love their adult milkshakes though. I'd come in just for that. Banana Split and the Caramel Macchiato are both really tasty and have a decent amount of booze in 'em.
I was always tempted to try their Krispy Kreme burger, but apparently they can no longer serve it as their supply of KK donuts ended when the Center City store closed! RIP.
I wanted to take my conservative homegurl to a conservative spot. Â Bwahahaha....this ain't even close.
Grimey-lookin homies, big-bearded hipsters with a bzillion tattoos, pink-haired rocker chicks all mingling in this place....this is that kinda spot. Â Edgy-hood-semi-gentrified.
By far my favorite resto in all of Philly. Â
Ghetto-esque asian DJ slammin Jay-Z, Big Sean, 2Chainz, Kenrick Lamar, Drake, Lil Wayne, etc tracks in mah ear...while my homegurl and I were tryna drink alcohol-filled almond joy milk shakes, tearing up crunchy tater tots with steak n wiz, a giant juicy burger on a salty pretzel bun, a chicken cutlet with avocado aioli and bacon hero and a savory lamb burger.
I was pissed that they didn't have the krispy kreme donut burger with chocolate-covered bacon...ugh...I was fiendin for that ish.
This is my type of venue. Â STRAIGHT MONEY.
Came here on a Monday night with a Living Social deal. Was sat right away. The host brought over water and the server came and greeted us. She was a lil busy, so we told her to go what she had to do and come back. Very very laid back and that's what I really liked! They didn't rush us in ordering or anything. When she came back, we decided on our meals. After deciding meals, I was uncertain about the milkshake or dessert. She recommended that since I wasn't sure, to wait and order the milkshake as a dessert since it is heavy. I'm glad she did!! Normally, servers would be very pushy and have you order something just to bump up  your tab more. Food came out at a decent time. Did wait very long for it.
Crab cake and lobster burger - not jumbo lump crab meat if anyone was expecting it, but it sure was delicious!! I had to throw away most of the bread bc I was getting so full halfway through. I ordered chili cheese tator tots with it. The chili wasn't all that great. I dunno what was missing, but the recipe for it could have been a lot better. But, I do love me some tator tots. :-)
Kimchee burger - husband said it was really good. I tried a little piece and also enjoyed it myself. Had a bit of a small kick to it which was nice. Pretty good size and burger was cooked nicely. He enjoyed the fries that came with it too. Wasn't soggy and had a nice crisp to it.
After dinner, I was way too full for any dessert. I wish i wasn't though bc the milkshakes looked amazing. I will definately be back for one of them.
This is an awesome go-to spot for creative, unique, delicious but not pretentious burgers. I recommend the PYT burger. The meat was pretty good quality for the price, the bun was soft and sweet, the bacon was abundant, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The PYT burger reminds me of the shack burger from shake shack (my ultimate burger).
Also, free glass of beer with check-in's. Beer battered onion rings and fries were nice and crispy. You can't go wrong here.
Does not honor the check in beer - ouch! And the bartender - well she pretty much ignored all of us from the time we walked in.
I hear they may have some relatively good food, but we wouldn't know because we couldn't get her attention to give us menu's...not that I really wanted to stay after we found out they wouldn't honor their check in offer....bad call PYT - BAD FORM!
Although I've been in PYT several times, last night was the first time I've eaten there and let me say, it's pretty damn good.
A group of four of us headed over on a cold February weeknight before a show over at Johnny Brenda's and the restaurant was pretty quiet. Â All four of us decided to get the adult milkshakes you hear so much about - we got the birthday cake (after all, it was my birthday), the Samoa (a special girl scout shake), and the butterfinger. Â These shakes are jam packed with alcohol, rich, and delicious! Â We passed around the shakes so we all got to try them. Â My favorite was the birthday cake. Â I felt like the Samoa one didn't really live up to it's name, but still had good flavors.
For dinner, we got the lamb burger, lobster crabcake "burger", calibunga veggie burger, and buffalo chicken sandwich. Â All the burgers were absolutely delicious! Â I tried the lobster crabcake burger and was surprised that there were little to no fillers - a great deal for the price. Â (I had entree envy!) Â My lamb burger was really tasty but I had asked for it rare and it was like REALLY rare (the edges of the burger were still pink). Â I probably could have sent it back, but I noticed this like halfway through my meal (PYT is dark as hell!) and just decided to continue on. Â
All-in-all, I really liked PYT. Â The food was delicious, the milkshakes were awesome (will be great on a hot summer day) and the service was spot on. Â I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!
Why the hype?
I came here with two colleagues. They split some decadent-sounding fries with blue cheese and bacon and chicken. I thought it would take all my willpower not to sneak a fry or two. But when they came out, they looked very "meh". My friends enjoyed them, but let's just say the fries lingered on the table for quite some time. Good, not great.
I ordered the Korean BBQ burger and I will say that it was delicious. I just ate the pattie, not the bun, but the bun looked really good--buttered and nicely toasted. However, my medium-rare came out rare (pink at the edges, red in the interior, cool center). This is not a problem for me, as I like rare meat and really just order medium-rare as a token concession to food safety, anyhow. Still and all, my burger wasn't cooked to temperature, which is a problem at a place that specializes in burgers.
Our waiter was amazing. He checked on us regularly and was seriously so nice and welcoming. That level of service is a big part of what would have me come back if I do. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen, though, because it seemed to take absolutely forever for our food to come out.
The burgers came with fries, and I asked for a side salad substitution. That cost an extra buck! This comes across as nickel-and-diming. My salad was fresh and tasty, though.
Oh, last gripe--the bathroom was dirty!
So all in all, if I were in the area and wanted a burger, or if I were with friends who wanted to come here, I would think this place acceptable although I might try to talk them into going elsewhere. It's overpriced, but aside from that the food is fine and the service is good. But I'm not understanding why it gets *so* much love in the Philly blogosphere. Is it just because of their stunt food like the Krispy Kreme burgers and the bacon taco shell? That makes me kind of sad.
If you want to charge me $15 for a burger, I'm sorry, but there better be some meat on it. Especially, when we're talking about ground chuck.
We had a nice time due to great service by Nakita. She was attentive, thoughtful, polite and knowledgeable. I was so happy to finally good service in a hipster area. She really knows whats up. I'm actually sorry that the food was so unjustifiably average for me... this pretty much guarantees no return visits.
The bragged about Brioche bun was too buttered and toasted for me to enjoy it as part of my burger.
All of the choices looked great, so we had difficulty deciding. We chose to have three and share. Nakita brought the first, the portabella mushroom burger, as an appetizer.
My first instinct-- tiny, second, delicious.
Next, we had the Monster Burger and Lobster Burger. The Monster Burger was piled at least 12 inches high. After taking the incredibly soggy, oil drenched onion rings off, the patties seemed to be 5 oz. I could not believe how tiny they were. Â It was wildly disappointing that the big "brioche bun" and onion rings made this burger look huge but when you really get down to it, there is nothing there.
The same, if not worse, goes for the Lobster Burger. I was not expecting a lobster tail. in fact, the lobster meat on the burger was fine. It was the burger again that was disappointing. Tasty due to an excess of salt, yes.
It was just too tiny for me to get excited about.
Unimpressed. I'd heard good things, but was pretty disappointed. I wanted take-out, but they "don't do take-out on the weekends". Hmm. Seems like it would ease the congestion inside, no? But ok.
I call that Tuesday to order a regular cheeseburger and side salad to go. The burger is ok, but nothing special. The bun was below-average, the meat average, and the veggies decent. My side-salad? Well, apparently even when they do take-out, they don't have plastic forks. Hmmpphh.
I didn't try an adult milkshake. I live right downstairs, so maybe next time.
If I could give it zero stars I would. The service sucks like everyone mentioned already so I am not even taking that into account here.
I went here with my fiance and our 5 year old daughter for dinner, since we were in the area. I will leave all the "minor" negatives out and just get right to the MAJOR problem.
My little one ordered the kids mini cheeseburgers. First off for $6 you are getting ripped off, they give you two half-dollar sized burgers.
Anyway, the problem was I looked over as my daughter was about to take another bite of her second burger (she already ate the other) and it WAS NOT COOKED.
Like, not even alittle bit. The entire inside was pink....not a little pink, totally pink. I began silently freaking out and waited for our waitress so I could start verbally freaking out. I was worried that she was going to get sick. The waitress looked at the burger and said "wow, thats not cooked at all."....wow, thanks, I see that Ms. Obvious. So now how are you going to handle the fact that my child just ate raw meat?
No manager came over to apologize, no apology from the server...rather, she offered to give us two new mini burgers to-go. Thanks anyway, I will pass on possibly poisoning my child even further. And the best part THEY STILL CHARGED US FOR HER MEAL.
Never will I come back here again. The hipster servers all smell bad to.
PYT came to my attention through friends' recommendations. I don't get what they were talking about: my buddy and I were underwhelmed by the PYT experience.
The food was ok, the owners are definitely more bullish on the menu than I am. For example, we were suckered into the bacon-wrapped/jalapeño stuffed tater tots, billed on the menu as "the best thing you'll ever eat". The pickled jalapeño drowned out the saltiness of the bacon, and the side of sour cream didn't compliment the tots at all.
Burgers patties were cooked as ordered (medium rare) but were smaller in size than many of the area's better burger places. Beer list was ok, but nothing special.
I did spring for the adult milkshake, but issues with the kitchen ensued. We ordered our milkshakes before our food. We waited for our milkshakes to arrive. The appetizers came, we waited for our milkshakes. The burgers came, we waited for our milkshakes. We were apologized to throughout our meal, but it didn't expedite the delivery of the milkshakes. Eventually the shakes came, after we were done our meal. PYT did comp us on one shake, and that felt like the right thing to do, I respect that they realized the shoddiness of the experience and made a gesture to remedy it ( would have rather had someone go in the back and kick some azz and get me my shake),
The place was loaded with hipsters on mini-books, and that's not my crowd. So it feels like PYT isn't my kinda place, and I'm guessing my expectations are too high for me to be PYT's kinda customer. It's not you, it's me PYT....let's see other people.
Awesome food and surprisingly awesome service!
I must say, Yelpers, I had prepared myself for the worst after reading the previous reviews of PYT. I was prepared to have a good burger and terrible service. Well, I guess PYT's management is actually reading these reviews, because WOW.
I went to PYT today for lunch with hubby and 2 friends. We were seated immediately, and within maybe 2 minutes our server, Frank, came over and greeted us. Bonus: he brought water. We needed a little bit of time to look over the menu, mostly because everything looked so great and we couldn't decide what to get. He came back in a few minutes and we ordered: Bacon Bloody Mary and Korean BBQ Burger for me, PYT burger for hubby and one of our friends, and lobster crab cake for the other.
We waited probably 15 minutes for our food, which I think is more than reasonable considering the place was packed and we all ordered different cook temps on our burgers. It did give us a chance to enjoy the drinks we ordered (which were delivered quite promptly too). Hubby ordered the Pumpkin King milkshake, and he enjoyed it but was a little underwhelmed. I however, thought it was magical and was surprised at the amount of alcohol they put in it. My Bloody Mary was artfully prepared and tasted like the person who made it actually cared what it tasted like- and for that, I thank you, mystery bartender person.
When the food arrived, it was amazing. I can not begin to describe the amazingness of this burger. The patty was cooked to a perfect medium as requested and had a ton of flavor. You could really tell that it was short rib meat and you could really taste the bbq marinade too. The kimchi tasted very fresh and married perfectly with the sriracha mayo sauce. I was truly in Korean BBQ heaven for the entire 5 minutes it took me to devour this burger. I'm guessing everyone else at the table enjoyed theirs equally, because they did the same with their burgers.
Also, I had a voucher from Google Offers, and the server sent the manager over to redeem it for us. The manager was extremely nice and even went out of his way to ask us how we enjoyed our visit. I was happy to hear that.
All in all, it looks like PYT has made a real effort to improve their customer service, and certainly deserves another shot from some of the people they may have previously scared away. I enjoyed it so much that I temporarily forgot that I was surrounded by annoying hipsters for a while. I am already thinking about which burger to order next time I go!
FIRST OFF: Â If you sit outside, do NOT sit in the giant wind-tunnel that is the side-patio seating (where people can walk through the Piazza). Â The wind is horrible and freezing and will cool everything down immediately.
The menu is really damn difficult to decide from due to the overwhelming amount of options. Â It took our party almost an hour to decide! Â I got some hotdog that was deefried with onion rings around it, someone else got the Gangnam Style burger. Â
Great beer, ridiculously delicious options, don't sit in the wind tunnel.
These burgers are definitely a batch of PYTs
Came here with a couple friends after purchasing the living social deal. I had heard lots about the place since last year, but haven't had a chance to check it out until this past weekend. When we arrived, it was pretty empty because it was weekday lunch time, but as other reviewers mentioned, the service was still a little slower than expected. We had to wait to be seated and our server didn't come back for another 10 minutes, even though there were only 2 other parties there.
The menu is where the pros for this place come out. I have never seen such a wide range of creative burgers. It took forever to decide, but I settled on the Korean BBQ Short Rib Burger. My friends ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Sammy and the Frito Burger. As a table, we shared a plate of PYT party fries and the Krispy Kreme Sliders. It took about 15 minutes for our food to come out, but it was well-awaited for.
The PYT party fries were out of this world. Sure, they were just glorified cheese fries, but they were oh-so delicious. First off, the fries were great by themselves. Not only were they perfectly crispy, the combination of the textured outer layer and substantial potato insides made it the perfect base for this dish. The cheese, banana peppers, bacon, chives, onions, etc just made this the best way to start off the meal. We actually kept the plate after we had finished the fries so we could have a dipping sauce with the fries that came with our burgers.
Next up was the Krispy Kreme sliders, which were the most bizarre burger I had ever had. Served on an inside-out Krispy Kreme mini-donut with a piece of chocolate-covered bacon, this burger still ate like a burger rather than a dessert. The chocolate was a little strong for my taste, but the donut glaze and bacon combined to create this sweet-salty combination and the burger gave it substance.
Finally, our main courses came out. Unfortunately, my burger was my least favorite of the three. I loved how the burger had that BBQ marinade taste, but it just wasn't strong enough and the kimchi wasn't too fresh tasting. Also, I asked for medium rare, but the burger was cooked pretty well through. The frito burger was great. I especially loved the crispiness of the chips and corn chip flavor in combination with the beef. The chicken sandwich was pretty standard, but it fried pretty well: crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. We were all able to down our burgers, despite the feast we had had before.
Overall, this place is a great place to bring visiting friends that want to try something new and different. I think the burgers are definitely hit-or-miss, but half the adventure is trying them! Next time I come, I think I'll definitely try the adult milkshakes (maybe I'll lay off on the sliders to compensate). Sit outside for a nice view and comfortable, quiet meal.
NOTE: they are no longer honoring the free beer deal when you checkin on Yelp or Foursquare.
