I'm going to keep my review at 3-stars because I have faith.  But my experience this past Saturday was enough to make me not want to return to them for anything other than happy hour.

My friend and I arrived at 5 on the dot for happy hour.  The place looked closed...like...the a/c wasn't even on.  They turned it on when they saw the looks on our faces.

Also, there was only a kitchen dude and the bar back.  We picked our couch....but no one came to take our order.  I walked up to the bar to ask for menus and to place an initial order.  The bar back, rather frightfully, informed me that the bartender was on his way, and it should only be a few minutes more before he arrives.  Uhm....I started working in food service at age 14.  Servers have to be in 30-60 minutes before a shift...and bartenders at least that early....but ok.  Whatever.  I want my drinks.

So I told him we were fine with him making our drinks.  Again, the bar back frightfully said that he could, but the bartender might not like the way he made them, so it was better to wait.

Uhm...what??!!  But we remained patient, because the bar back was really sweet and nice to us.

The bartender strolled in at 5:30.  Mind you, this was 30 minutes in to happy hour, and there were already four tables in the joint.  My question: "So happy hour goes to 8:30 today, right???!!!"  He logged in to the ordering system, and went around to take orders.  No apology was given for his lateness, he didn't greet us, nothing.  Simply, "What can I get you?"

We ordered.  Instead of making drinks, putting them on a tray, and serving everyone, he made and delivered drinks one at a time to each table.  So we eventually received our drinks....but the extra shot of pineapple tequila I ordered came five minutes after, though they were ordered as part of the first round.  Seriously???!!!

Also, the quesadilla my friend ordered looked less appetizing than anything I could make at home...and she said the guac tasted off....maybe sour....but she couldn't eat it.

He eventually came around for our second round.  We ordered.  It came.  I ordered two very different drinks.  They looked and tasted the same.  Uhm.......why was this?

Lastly, I had to walk up to the bar to get the check.  That was the only time he paid attention to us, looking to see if I would tip, I presume.  I put my card in the little slot, and put the folio up so he would get it.  he saw it.  He never came.  I dropped off the folio to have the card run.  He gave it back without a thank you.

Uhm...no.  I started coming here years ago and liked it because the drinks tasted different than each other, and the service was on point.  Maybe this was an off day.  But you put your best people on a Saturday night shift, right?  Is this now the best Rapture has to offer?

I'm seriously going to have to exhaust other area options before trying Rapture again.  I mean, the drinks pack a punch.  It's a really awesome happy hour deal.  And decently heavy handed for a 16-oz drink.  But that kind of piss poor service when you're charging Manhattan prices in Queens does not fly, y'all!

This neighborhood spot is equidistant from me and my friend's apartment so I've found myself here a few times recently. I've been here 3-4 times and have never been disappointed. I have to say, it doesn't look like a place that would be called the "Rapture Lounge." Its very chill with kitschy decor, lots of comfy couches, and HUGE drinks (2 for 1 happy hour!). It's not too loud and easy to chat with friends here. Get there early, not only for the happy hour specials, which change each night, but also to claim a good spot. This is especially true on weekends.

The waitstaff is attentive, but stays out of your way, which I appreciate. They have a full menu and their buffalo wings are delicious. As is my personal favorite drink, the "tie me to the bedpost." All the drinks have funny, overtly sexual names. Again, all the aspects of this place, the name, menu, decor, entertainment (some nights karaoke, other nights a tarot card reader), don't fit together... but that's totally fine with me. Love this place.

Came here on a whim while waiting for a friend. Saw a sandwich board that read "2 for 1 happy hour" and thought, why the hell not?! Lol tried my norm, vodka soda with a splash of cranberry, nothing special. Was like having watered down vodka. Then decided to try the 1-900-f*ckmeup, tasty and STRONG! :D just how I like it! Love the comfy couches and variety of drinks. I will definitely be back!

WARNING: 1-900-f*ckmeup will definitely f*ck you up! Found myself going the wrong direction on the right train when trying to head home smh lol...totally worth it ;)

Note: After about 8 PM they hold an amateur standup and magic show. Magic shows are always awesome but the comedy show lacked a bit. But that's to be expected since the comics are getting their footing. There's also a cover charge.

Fun time! I finally stopped by this place after living in the area for 2 years. It was definitely quirky, with big, comfy, mismatched couches as the main seating area. It was a Friday night, and there was room to sit, but a good amount of people were there. I had the Jealous Bitch, and a couple margaritas. They definitely did the job. I was pretty wasted on my walk home. Big drinks, good service, and sweet prices.  I will be back!

Nice place to chill..but the long haired guy behind the bar is too cool for school. After asking him something in regards to the bill he ends up trying to shush me and then making a comment about how he's not a mind reader.   Ever heard of customer service....

I have been a few times at this place and every single time I go there I have something to complain about! it's incredible! The owner now seems to have promoted himself to bartender as he was the one tending the bar on my last 3 visits. It's been awhile I don't go there on SAT nights, but there was a waitress working there that I'm pretty sure did a great damage to the business as she was so obnoxious and rude! the kind of waitress that will ruin your night if you're there on a date expecting  a perfect night. Hospitality isn't for everyone SORRY. and owner should be the dumbest to hire and keep someone like that providing that kind of service. Well, if you're reading this and go there fairly often, then you know what Im talking about. Food is good. had there the best hotdog of nyc and also the best pineapple infused margarita. Place now DO NOT have the elevated VIP seating anymore at the right side of the bar, instead just empty space with a weird and non-sense counter style standing-eating-pizza-places with no stools at all. That space could be a lot better utilized by adding more couches making another seating lounge like the rest of the place, I thought if a bar has more seatings it would accommodate more people thus generating more money... well seems like someone there didn't put that much thought into this place. overall good, prices could be better considering the business and clientele. One Star because its kitchen closes late, like really late... when most of the places in astoria can't serve food anymore, this place can be the last option and food is good and fresh.

My saturday afternoon started with drinks with a friend, on my quest to venture queens spots yelp helped me picked rapture. There saturday happy hour sold me, so I went.
service- First the staff was awesome, we got there when they opened so it was just one bartender and a man that seemed to be the owner or manager, they were super attentive even even when the place started to get crowded she (bartender) didn't forget us at all.
drink- drinks were 2 for 1 from 5-8 daily.  they could do with a little more liquor but they were definitely delish.  The best part was nothing was off limits there entire cocktail menu and basically the whole bar was happy hour, we tried a few of there signature cocktails and i had a martini. the bartender also gave us a free shot!!!!
Food- i just munched on fries and had the flautas which were both good.
decor- amazing cute couches nice colors paintings, we had such a relaxing experience.

I loved it!!! planning my next visit already.

I kept thinking of a BUT for this review, but I just couldn't find any.

Whether its drinks with the girls, or drinks on a date, this place never disappoints. The drinks have crazy yet interesting names such as the jealous bitch, sex on the sofa, 1-900 f*ck me up, tie me to the bed post, and more! Don't let the names intimidate you, they're actually pretty good!

At first glance, you'll think the prices are steep for a place in queens, but for the record, you do get your money's worth since most cocktails are served in a big glass AND they always hit the spot! :)

The music isn't bad, the snacks are priced reasonably and the staff is very friendly. Definitely an Astoria jewel!

Nice! The cocktails are desserty and fruity looking, so I stuck with the fresh, ice cold tap beers. Best Blue Moon I've ever had in a bar, much better than in some other filthy holes and way better than the bottle. Micheladas are good here too, much better than others I've had. Nice art on the walls. Subtly classy Latin vibe. Great place to start the night. I'm not enraptured, but happy enough. They did NOT play Blondie.

I lived in Astoria for a year, and this place quickly became my favorite spot in the neighbourhood !! Amazing cocktail (Basilic and vinegar inside, crazy!), reasonnable prices,  good music, and bartender are nice, what else could you expect ?

Special thumbs up for the comedy sunday night that are hilarious, hope to be there soon again!

So far, my favorite place for drinks in Astoria.

The vibe is really cool. Great ambiance, lots of comfy couches. The bartenders/servers here are all awesome. Not the speediest, but really cool, nice people nonetheless.

Tip: Beware of the Jalepeno Margarita. It's SO. Effing. Spicy. I was basically sweating and crying as I forced the burning, fiery concoction down my throat, desperately clinging to the thread of manhood I still maintained.

Another tip: Check in on foursquare and get a free pineapple tequila shot every time.

Happy hour here is 5-8pm and it includes signature cocktails!

So, the girl I had dated who lived in Astoria who introduced me to Rapture Lounge (as it says in my previous review....wait....you mean you're not a subscriber to my reviews and you don't have them cataloged???) came back to NY to visit from England.  Naturally, we decided to head to Rapture since it was our place.

The night was fantastic, although it didn't have much to do with Rapture.  Unfortunately we rolled in just a few minutes before someone started playing music, maybe it was open mic night or something, but it was something awful and it was so loud we could barely hear each other.  The bartender was friendly, but was a liar.  I asked her if she knew how to make a good old fashioned.  She said yes.  I sipped it.  I said no.  The gods laughed as they watched me suffer stuck between the old fashioned and the tone deaf musician.

They have an assortment of crazy martini's which my friend happily dove into.  She like most of them, and found love in one with coconut.  I think I tried one at one point also but I'm not generally into those so I wont give my opinion.  Most were on the sweeter side, definitely not my bag.  (Don't lie, you just said "baby" in the voice of Austin Powers, either out loud or in your head)

We ordered a slew of plates, mozz sticks were ok, fingers were ok, jalapeno poppers ok, but ooooooh those hot dogs they have.  I would have rather ordered myself like 5 of those hot dogs than the other stuff.  If you go here go with the intent of getting the dogs.

So, both my friend and I were in agreement that while it was nice we both went back there together, it wasn't as great as we remembered it.  Maybe it did, maybe it was just us, who knows.  If not for the "musician" we actually would've enjoyed ourselves more (thankfully he was only on for an hour) and it seems like it still is a nice place to have drinks over some good conversation, especially in their enormous fluffy seating arrangements.

The ambience in Rapture Lounge is dark and intimate, only due to the lighting and overload of couches.  The actual bar area needs help.  I think the lighting could be a bit better with the enhancement of some string lights/ornaments that will go with the rest of the decor.  When i was there, the Music really didn't go with the "feel" of the place.

On both of my visits, the drinks were really good!  I enjoy the creative drink list and recommend that they make some new cocktails, keeping the popular ones of course.  Service is good, nothing to complain about. And the happy hour special 2 for 1 is excellent!

I hope that this review provides some helpful insight so that rapture can start bringing in a more regular, hip crowd!

Love this place for happy Hour with the girls.. reason for 3 stars.. the food isnt that great and music kindve blows.. BUT drinks are strong and its 2 for 1 until 7pm..not to mention the size of them.. and where else can a dirty gin martini be included in the 2 for 1?  they just need to fix the music and food.

But its a great place for a date or to catch up with friends.. since the ambiance is catered in that way with their velvet couches and dimmed lights.

Is it weird when you fall in love with a bar after like 7 minutes?
Probably. But who really gives a sh!t.

Came here on a random tuesday to shake off the vibes of an interview (you know how it is). Its the kind of bar that makes you think "so i go into a college headshop with $2000.. What can i possibly buy??" Pair this with k-rock style 90s music. Awesome.
This happens to be exactly what i look for in a drinking establishment.

This review is for the cocktails and service alone  - we didn't get any food, unless you count the pineapple slice that had been soaking in tequila for 2 weeks. Winning!

I went with my friend and we sat at the bar, but I noticed there seemed to be a lot of couch seating and the place was pretty packed. It seemed like everyone knew everyone, so there are a lot of regulars.

The drinks were all $11, which isn't that bad for New York I guess. As the other reviews stated, they all have clever names like "Jealous Bitch" and "Tie Me To The Bed". We started off with a WTF which is mashed strawberries, basil, balsamic vinegar, vodka, sugar, and sprite. Now, I'm normally a Grey Goose Martini guy, so "fruity" drinks aren't normally my thing; but this was a special trip so I was just going with it.

Next round I got a Belgian Dip, which was waffle vodka (didn't even know there was such a thing), banana rum (again, what), and maple syrup with whipped cream. You will get sick drinking like this unless you have a stomach of steel - but I do so it's all good.

Finally I had a Cracker Jack which was popcorn vodka (jesus christ), butterscotch schnapps, and Godiva white.

All the drinks were tasty, including the 4 (yes four) free shots of pineapple infused tequila the owner, Roberto, gave us. Just like my other review for Via Trenta, I was stoked to get such friendly service from the owner. We were literally at the door, MC Hammered, and Roberto ran up to us with another 2 shots of tequila. This guy is a legend and if you go, ask to see his back tattoo which was some pretty spectacular ink if I do say so myself.

I had an eye-watering migraine until the afternoon the next day (had wine and drinks at Via Trenta before hand), but it was worth it. Although I'm never drinking again, I swear this time ;)

I know there are bars in Meatpacking that have more refined cocktails with exotic ingredients, but if you are living/staying in Astoria and want a guaranteed good time, I would definitely check this place out. I'll be back next time for sure.

I'll keep this short and sweet for once:

Rapture Lounge has some great happy hour specials and some serious drink combinations that will knock you out. There's lots of cozy couches to spread out on though in case that happens (always a plus) and the staff is very attentive in getting you your refills on your 2 for 1s. Woohoo! Since they have happy hour even on the weekends, it's certainly a great place to catch a drink that's away from the hustle and bustle of 30th Ave.

Ladies: don't come to Rapture Lounge after having a spa facial... otherwise you'll look like the Joker under the black light. Trust me on this.

I love this place. Definitely recommend for people who just want to drink and hang out with their friends, and for people who want to go on a date. For the ladies, I definitely recommend the Jealous Bitch drink! One of the best drinks I've ever had!

3.5 Stars. You really can't beat the fact that you get an amazing cocktail included in your $10 breakfast. I had the nutella and banana crepe with a pink lemonade martini. No watering down the alcohol because its before 5pm here. This drink was strong. Oh and the crepes were delicious too. Add the fact that this is right around the corner from me and I have to say that I will probably be back...often.

Why not 4 stars, the indoor seating is super dark for daytime dining. It is literally like a dark lounge in daylight ... not a good look. It's like at the end of the night when the DJ plays the last song and they turn on the lights. Nothing and no one looks as good. That said, they have a small amount of outdoor seating which is where we sat making for a pleasant morning.

The set up is nice--lots of comfy couches, board games, etc. I was there a Friday or two ago, and it was not particularly lively although it wasn't completely empty either. I will say, it was nice to be able to actually hear my friend talk rather than spending the night screaming in each other's ears like at 80% of bars.

Only two stars though because of some sketchy business stuff. We got two for one pitchers of sangria  (each pitcher is $30 FYI), and it was pretty good. We also got chips and guac for $7, and there was more guac than there were chips, so we asked for some more tortilla chips just to finish off the guac. I realized the next morning after sleeping off my sangria drunkness that they charged us another $7 for the chips refill. Just a handful of chips, not more guac or anything. REALLY, Rapture? I was too drunk at the time to properly study the bill at the time (there's also another mysterious $3 that we were charged and I still haven't figured out what it was for), so it's on me for not calling bullshit on that at the time. But duly noted. Not going back.

This place has some serious cocktails with interesting elements. I had a jalapeno, pineapple infused tequila drink that super spicy,  and also had a muddled strawberry one with lime that was very good. Pretty good prices and it was two for one wooooo.
Also a lot of the drinks come in  16oz glasses which is very nice.

Chill atmosphere very cold AC and plenty of couches to relax in.

It's in an odd location, but it's a destination.  It's lively but not as crowded as other spots.  Very comfortable couches, great meny, and board games to boot.

I only wish they showed mad men on sunday nights.

Looks like a good place to make out.

Dark room with very dim lights... comfortable couches with throw pillows... and a menu with cocktails like "tie me to the bedpost" and "jealous bitch" tend to send subtle signals that you're supposed to get perverted here.

We asked the waitress for recommendations and she goes "well our cocks are... hahaha cocktails are all pretty good." I see what you did there lady. You don't fool me.

The cocktails are generally of the sweet/ unmanly nature (stuff girls like) and about 10-12 bucks. It's around the same price for a good cocktail elsewhere but you get the atmosphere so I think it's a good buy. The only thing is I felt the cocktails weren't very strong. I am a weak Asian and I finished two of those suckers and barely felt a thing. The waitress said there's a lot of booze thats just drowned by the sweetness. I don't know.

Food was nothing amazing. But after you have a cocktail everything tastes awesome. You know what I mean.

There are outside seatings too but I don't know why you'd want that. This is going to be a four stars for a party of two, if you catch my drift.

Haha Yelp wants to know if this place is good for kids. Hahaha disgusting.

    :P

Definitely a nice little sexy place to take a pretty lady friend if you're trying to get lucky.  The atmosphere definitely helps achieve your ends, assuming your ends are not of an innocent nature.

The premises is pretty small, but me and my date were comfortable.  Went straight for the wine, though the ladies next to us seemed to be enjoying a variety of mixed drinks throughout the night.

The food was "meh"... we got chicken fingers.  They were alright, if not small and overpriced.  But you don't go to a place like this to be blown away by the food.

Atmospheric and hip, this is a relaxing and uncrowded albeit well-attended location (at least the Saturday night I went) where you can take your time sipping your drink while whispering sweet nothings to the lucky lady who might just make you a lucky guy by night's end.

Rapture is the only place in NYC where the drinks are worth the price. They are delicious and STRONG.
Love the atmosphere. A calmer vibe than most bars around, so Rapture isn't for everyone. I've visited several times over the past couple years, and the experience is always stellar. The employees are friendly and welcoming, and I think the owners are often there. They definitely care about the place and the experience.

I had been wanting to check this place out for a while and thankfully, was not disappointed! Rapture Lounge has a chill ambiance but you better get there early to secure a spot on those couches. While limited seating comes across as a downside, it's an upside when you DO score some couches because you feel like you're hanging out in a basement. Just make sure to arrive early.

Half of us were hungry and the other half were just looking for drinks. I ordered  The Jealous Bitch, which may actually turn you into one... or maybe that was just me. ANYWAY. I wish I could have tried everything because their mixed drinks all sounded awesome, and you definitely get your money's worth (read: they are all strong! Hooray for their bartenders!). Cocktails are about $10 and most come in a 16 oz. glass. Can't go wrong.

I was in a french fry mood so I also ordered their fries. Crispy and seasoned, they have my stamp of approval. A few of my friends ordered other things, like sandwiches, and judging by the clear plates, they enjoyed the food as much as the drinks.

Also worth mentioning - we got free shots. Gotta love a nice waitress!

If you're bringing a date here, this place has you covered - FREE CONDOMS! LOL! (Check the expiration date.) There's a dispenser right next to the bathroom. Last time I saw that was a few years ago in Canada and it was just as amusing this time.

2-for-1 pitchers of sangria on fri & sat nights? 2-for-1 mixed drinks almost every other night? Um, yes please!! Rapture is a really cute place to go if you are into getting schwasted with a couple friends for pretty cheap.

It's dim inside with lots of couches, which is perfect if you want to sit back and relax as you sip on your "Tie Me to the Bedpost," (which is amazingly delicious btw). They also have food (which I've never tried), and this place gets crowded pretty easily. Try to go early, and definitely get there before happy hour is over!

I really enjoyed this lounge because of the colors, ambience, and atmosphere.

This is a really great place to chill at.  There's no dancing, but the music is pretty good.  The drinks are well made, but I was mad that they didn't have any pineapple juice to go with my vodka.  I really really love the multicolored lighting, the palm trees, and the black lights.  The only problem is that seating is limited so get here early or be prepared to wait.  There're a lot of couches and seats; it's a cozy living room kind of feel.

The only food I tried here was the jalapeno poppers, but I'm curious as to why they would serve them with marinara sauce? Strange! They were O K.  The first one I bit into was still semi- frozen, but hey what the hell, when I'm drunk that doesn't even matter.  The sauce wasn't good; probably from a jar, but snap that doesn't matter either.

This seems like a cool start up/pre-game place just because of the environment/ scene.  The menu looked pretty good so ill definitely be back to try appetizers. Wouldn't want to stay here all Friday/Saturday night long, but because it was crowed even at 10pm (not so common amongst the club/lounge crowd of Astoria) I have developed an attraction for Rapture lounge that hopefully will allow me to give this place another star in my near future!

We came here for a friend's birthday party a few weekends ago.  He rented out part of the lounge that had some couches and low tables.  The atmosphere was very laid back and comfy.

The staff was very attentive and came by to ask if we needed anything quite often.  We ordered some pitchers of sangria and shots of tequila, but we also ordered some of their "special" drinks off their menu.  The "special" drinks were pretty good and were quite strong.  The sangria...unfortunately even after having had a strong drink or two did not taste good to me.

The food was OK.  The portions were somewhat small when ordering off the regular menu, but the food was alright.  The birthday boy ordered some group orders of boneless chicken which was pretty good!

I give it four stars because of the staff, the good mixed drinks, and the excellent casual atmosphere.

    4.5 stars....

Rapture Lounge is one of my new favorite lounges in the city. The unpretentious bar has a ton of mixed comfortable couches spread throughout a couple different areas, perfect for a relaxing drink with friends or an intimate date. The prices and service is about average but it's really the atmosphere that will draw me back here.

This place is a real neighborhood lounge. Being tucked away on 28th ave at 35th it's inset from the major roads which contributes somewhat to the quirky vibe of this place.

It's a comfortable and casual spot with outdoor seating for when its warm enough (or if you smoke) and the inside is filled with comfy couches and quirky lighting.

I can't remember a time I've ever come here during the day, although I keep saying I will and I've only had drinks here. For that in itself though, this place is absolutely great.  The bartender is friendly they make the drinks nice and stiff and the crowd as observed by others is definitely a nice diverse mix.

They don't play any obnoxious music and its a place where you really can just legitimately sit down and grab a drink and chat up your neighbor.

The prices are great but their happy hour deals are even more amazing.

Not knowing Astoria well, we headed here after not wanting to brave a super packed Sweet Afton on a Saturday night. The first thing I noticed was the black light - really?! - I think the last time I went to a place with black light was an 18 and over club in my freshman year in college. Personally, I do not like to see all the fuzz on my black coat. But, we decided to stay for a drink, despite the strange decor of couches, plants,  and black light.

Everything was fine except a friend ordered a cocktail that the bartender could just not get right. The waitress seemed annoyed that my friend complained that the drink was not right, but was willing to give them a different drink. All in all the staff was fine, and ended up being friendly, but I would not go here again because the ambience is so lacking. We left to go to William Hallet, which was so much better.

So my review update isn't based on a return visit. We never did return after our one abysmal experience. However over the months following my review, I've been receiving snide comments on my post from Yelp user "Roberto M." (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=wWsLMRBPB5T8tF8ZPfhgXA">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a>) who I can only assume is the owner of this place.

Really man? Get over yourself and your bar. Not every person is going to give a place a rave review, especially considering how repulsive our experience was there. Given the actions since, it only cements the bad taste left in our mouths when we left. A better business practice would be to take into consideration the complaints with a bad review rather than harassing the reviewers with childish messages.

People like this guy make me glad I don't even live in Astoria anymore.

I don't know. I feel this place tries a little too hard to be cool.  The decor reminds me of a hookah lounge, but without the hookah. The couches are nice and make for a very comfortable place.

I don't know though. Just something about this place that rubs me the wrong way. The beer selection is quite pathetic. The happy hours aren't enough to really bring me back (3 dollar bud or budlight does not equate to me being very happy). The staff were nice enough, but I think our waitress tried to hard to be spunky and sassy.

A group of people came to celebrate someone's birthday here while I was waiting for my friends to show up. Apparently they had a planned to have an open bar. I looked around at the pretty empty bar and had a dumbfounded look as to why someone would decide to have an open bar party over here.I was even more surprised to find out they charge 40 dollars for 3 hours. Rapture, the city you are not.

E for effort Rapture. Just try and be yourself, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I could probably write a better review of Rapture if I could ever clearly remember being there.  But here goes....

First, the staff there are awesome.  April is cute as a button and Jeff is probably the best bartender in town with mad skills and pyrotechnic tricks.  They don't really let him do those any more since that eye brow incident with the twins from Reno but the talent is still there.

The lounge atmosphere is a welcome respite from the typical bar scene in Astoria.  In the dark light the sofas are welcoming and comfortable and can handle large crowds.  Of course, like any well-worn lounge establishment, don't look too closely at the upholstery cause you'll probably wanna run out and grab a jug of Purell.

The kitchen puts out a decent snack menu with fresh ingredients and pretty yummy results.  Of course, the main reason to come are the cheap, high-octane drinks the great staff, and the comfy yet sticky sofas.

An absolute must-have is the pineapple infused tequila.  I'm telling you, this stuff is muy dangeroso.  My only advice is no matter how drunk you get on the stuff, never NEVER eat the pineapple.  Trust me, it will not end well for you.

A fantastic candidate for a DYL.  Hmmmmm?

This is the kind of place that could be perfect, but it loses major points in several departments.

Exhibit A: The music is way too loud. Even on a weeknight when there are hardly any people in there, you literally can't hear the person next to you.

Exhibit B: At "peak" times, it gets very crowded with an unexpected type of crowd. It's like a B&T crowd, except you're already over/through the B&Ts, so that's not applicable. Let's just say that in my experience, they're not the most desirable or polite people to be sharing a lounge with.

Exhibit C: Even with aforementioned exhibits, this is honestly the one thing that will keep me from going back to Rapture. For some reason, you come out of this place REEKING like fried food. You know the "I just waited 10 minutes for my cheap Chinese Take-Out" smell? Yeah, that's the one. I had to air out my peacoat for a week to get rid out it, and my hair, yuck...well, thank god that's washable.

It keeps 3 stars because if you do manage to stop by on a warm weekday night and sit outside away from the greasy smells and loud music, you'll be able to enjoy some nice martinis and AMAZING guacamole.

An outer-borough GEM. An actor friend of mine introduced me to this place -- what's the deal with all of these actors living in Astoria?

The list of special cocktails are hilarious. Last night, I got the 'Tie Me to the Bedpost,' it was pretty good.  They have a decent amount of alcohol in them (and you can't tell), so watch it. They also have Magic Hat, if you'd rather have a fun beer.

I went for the 2-for-1 happy hour at 6:30, and I opted to get food too. I got the Basil Chicken Sandwich with Gouda. It was very tasty -- surprising for bar food. The place is a little loud for my taste, but the music is very eclectic (read: good), there is a big flat-screen for sport-Os, and the place was gay friendly. There is also outdoor seating (should it decide to be warmer for a few more weeks) and an elevated VIP area (which looks like an elevated 'back-room').

Why couldn't there be cool places like this when I lived in Brooklyn?
