With the limited sports bar options in the DC area, it can be hard to find a place to grab a pizza and watch a non-local game.  Rock Bottom provides both with affordable, local brews.  There was a time when service could potentially be sketchy and/or terrible, but things have seemed to pick up since then, and I'm overall satisfied with the service on most visits.  If I wanted to a nice, cool, modern atmosphere with great food, I would probably have to look elsewhere; but for what it is - a place to watch my teams with a delicious little pizza - it serves it's purpose and I can't complain.

In the end, it's just a chain brewpub.

Stopped by here looking for a decent dinner and mostly expecting what I was going to get. As it turned out my expectations were right. I sat at the bar and was a bit put off by the fact that it was sticky. I guess side work is a bit of an issue here.

The bartender was friendly enough and let me try the cask IPA they had. And, as with most Rock Bottom beers, it didn't do much of anything to impress me. I went with the regular IPA, which was good enough.

As for dinner, I did the salad (basic bar salad - exactly what I was expecting), and the salmon (which was a step above what I was expecting, but still mostly just a chain piece of fish with overdone veggies and rice).

I came in with relatively low expectations - I just wanted something simple - and that was exactly what I got.

There are better options in the area. But if you just want simple, this will do.

Rock Bottom deserves more of a 2.5 overall.  The service leaves a little to be desired - our server did not know she had a couple of people sitting at one of her tables.  We stopped in for a quick snack before hitting the ice rink upstairs.  The chicken mac was really good and cheesy, but the sliders were nothing special.  It was fine, but the chicken mac was way better.  I can't even remember our cocktails.  I know I asked for one of their pineapple cocktails, but they had run out of pineapple juice and the bartender decided to sub in grapefruit juice.  It was all ok.

This place isn't necessarily my first, second or third choice, SO, if all else fails, and I'm in the area, I might stop in for happy hour.

This bar is in a prime location, so I don't see them hurting for business no matter what they have or don't have.

It's a bar... in a shopping mall... in Ballston. It's a good place to meet friends but I wouldn't come here for any reason other than convenience. The beer is reasonably priced though don't expect any of your typical beers since they brew their own.

There's not a whole lot to say about Rock Bottom. The food is fine, the beer is fine, nothing is good, it's all just fine.

I want to give this place 3 or 4 stars. I've been here a few times now with my girlfriend. Service is always wonderful. I really enjoy their craft beer menu. Their food is good, but not amazing. However, the last time we ate there both of us wound up with food poisoning. We had the nachos and a veggie pizza. It was all good. The nachos were a bit bland, but i really enjoyed the pizza. Then a few hours later we were both in agony.

Bottom line, I like the place. But not enough to risk getting sick again. I might return for a beer. But I'll eat elsewhere.

Second time I've been here and had dinner and beers.   I really want to give this place a higher score, but both times the food was slightly below average bar food.  It sounds great on the menus but really disappoints in taste and quality.  My big complaint last trip was that during the happy hour the waitress charged full price on all the drafts that are normally $1.50.  Bottom line is Rock Bottom needs to up its game or the name may start to be an accurate descriptor.

What a funny name for a bar.  Perhaps it's aptly named for some people who visit it?  I should hope not!

I have to preface this review (in which I give Rock Bottom only "3" stars) with the fact that this review is solely based on the carry out food that the bf and I had a few weeks ago.  I haven't actually patronized the bar or ordered any drinks here so I do not even pretend to write a review about that aspect of it.

The burgers we ordered to go were decent, but not super amazing.  They were a bit soggy and flopsy (if that's even a word).  I ordered the "Just Hot Enough Burger," which came with crispy jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo and housemade habanero ketchup.  It was tasty, but again, sort of soggy and a bit on the dry side.

I would still love to visit this place in the future and actually order some drinks here so I can get a more accurate sense of what this place is all about.  It does seem really popular - it's always really crowded whenever I pass by.

    This place rocks!

I first stepped foot on this place when my friends took me here to enjoy the Wednesday happy hour...so much tasty beer for so little money.

But the first time we came here we got a booth and enjoyed the flat bread and burger which were good but the beer was great especially with their variety and happy hour prices. Then the next couple of Wednesdays, we enjoyed the outdoor patio space socializing with a nice beer in our hands.

Just some advice for those who do not like the overcrowded bar scene, avoid the happy hour days but for those younger people out there, great place to meet friends and socialize!

Rock Bottom was the second stop on our Saturday night Ballston bar crawl.  Its raison d'être is that it's a brewpub that serves craft beers supposedly brewed on site.  Rock Bottom occupies a sizable amount of square footage in Ballston Common Mall looking out onto Glebe Rd.  As venues for a bar crawl with over a 100 bar hoppers in tow, Rock Bottom had plenty of room to accommodate our crowd.  It also did a notable service job taking care of the crowd.  Where it fell short, way short, was its marginally executed food and its uninspired, bordering on generic, beer.

The gf and I split the fried calamari app and a grilled chicken sandwich (I don't remember the specific toppings on it), subbing onion rings for fries (a $3 surcharge).  I washed it down with the Brown Ale.  The fried calamari had the appearance, flavor, and mouth feel of your standard pre-breaded, frozen calamari likely courtesy of Sysco.  The grilled chicken breast was dry and flavorless.  The sandwich even with the toppings was surprisingly bland and forgettable.  The stingy serving of onion rings were awful.  Greasy, limp and overpriced considering the $3 upcharge...fail!  The Brown Ale was the best of the things I ordered, yet it pretty average as brown ales go.  In fairness to Rock Bottom, I'm not a huge fan of brown ales.  In fairness to me, however, it was the most palatable beer selection available since an IPA wasn't on the beer list.  Compared to the range of quality beers on tap or in bottles to be had at the nearby World of Beer, Rock Bottoms' house brews pale in comparison.

While there may be the occasional gem in Ballston for food and/or drink, Rock Bottom was not that neighborhood gem.  Focus group tested chain restaurants and bars are not inherently bad, but one's experience should be consistent regardless of what store in that chain you're in.  In this case, the food and drink were memorable in its mediocrity.

Good food. Reminded me of home. We went on a Sunday and it was empty. The Caps were playing so it was fun to watch. The TV's were cranked up really loud, which became bothersome after awhile.

The Fish Tacos are money. Loved them.

Good solid food, nice service, though our waitress was a tad ditzy for my taste. Been to the one in Boston a while back, and was sad to see the Titan Toothpicks are gone... Oh well, in with the new!!

I'm bumping Rock Bottom in Ballston up to three stars. It's definitely improved in the past few months. We've had better service, the food has been decent - and we always love getting take out.

Few things I wish were better - the beer selection just seems rather mundane - I wish they created some more variety in the beers they brew. I also still miss the ahi tuna on the menu. That was my go-to for dinner.

And I still won't go anywhere near there on a Wednesday - cheap beer is not worth the headache.

Have only been here once for happy hour, but it was great! Really, really cheap beers and they're actually decent and the place has a nice variety. The nachos were also delicious and a huge portion.

The entire bar area was packed by the time we got there, but we had no problem getting a seat in the dining area. And the service was fast! Will definitely be back.

    Should be renamed Food Bottom...

My company ordered some food from here last week and although all the ingredients were fresh, it lacked taste(not a typo). The only thing that did taste good was the fruit bowl, and I suppose you can insert here____whomever or whatever you think created that fruit. There have been very few times in my life that I've had restaurant food and can truly wonder if I could have truly been able to tell the difference between the sandwich with slaw vs. the vegetarian burrito(in this case being sober) - blindfolded...Hell, I'm sure I financed somebody's Ferrari or Lexus over the years of carrying out or eating in restaurant food.

Can't speak for the service, I'm sure you can read for yourself the other reviews.

Of course, if you are drinking their good quality beer, then it won't really matter to you now, will it?

Thank goodness for the beer selection here, since the food is WAY below par.  I ordered the Just Hot Enough burger, which came out looking like a frozen patty accompanied by about a teaspoon of salsa and a few strands of shredded lettuce.  Wife ordered the Southwest Egg Rolls, which looked like something out of the freezer section at the grocery.  In the past, the food has been passable for pub fare -- but the  food quality at the Ballston location is no longer acceptable.  Go elsewhere for food!

Used to love this place. Great innovative craft beers, good Happy Hour specials, surprisingly wide menu. During NFL season, a prime rib special that I could rarely finish, and I'm a hearty eater.

Then Gordon Biersch took over. And everything went to shit.

The menu became a shadowy reflection of GB, but not executed well at all. Nearly all the items we enjoyed went bye-bye. The beers became more cut'n'paste, very little creativity. Staff started disappearing, replaced by whomever they could hire-- they aren't on the payroll for their disposition, I'll tell you that.

Yeah, if all you want is cheap beer, this is the place for you. But I want a lot more than that. I want my old Rock Bottom back. Since that ain't happening, I pass.

I have been here twice: one was a good experience and the other was a not-so-good experience.

The first time I went, we sat in the bar area. I got 5-6 beers and a pretzel and it came to $13. Our server was great, the beer was good and cheap, and the food was delicious. For Happy Hour, this was just what I wanted.

The second time I went, we sat in the dining area. HUGE MISTAKE. We didn't really want to be placed in the dining area, but there was a lot of us, so we figured it might be alright. We were wrong. It took us almost 45 minutes to get our first beers. The food came shortly after. The first beer I ordered and my dinner were the only things the waiter got right for me. He screwed up every other beer that I ordered. I would tell him my order and he would then ask me what beer I was currently finishing up with. And proceed to bring me not what I ordered, but what I had before. This happened all night.

I will go again, but I will not sit in the dining room if I am there for happy hour. I recommend going to the bar for happy hour!

Why does Rock Bottom get 5 stars??

$1 beer night is dangerous.  Drink responsibly!  I love sampling beer and Rock Bottom has some great craft beers to choose from.

They have yummaliscious street tacos.  Brewmasters club sandwich is also pretty awesome served at lunch with those skinny crispy fries.  Mac n' Cheese with chicken - maybe a little too much chicken but still very tasty.

RB is a top place to eat and drink in Ballston.

    Rock Bottom.

Home of many a beer league team, including my very own Ballston Tropics.  We are a band of gentlemen who play our guts out (and what large guts they are) at Kettler on top of the mall every Friday night.  Win or lose, we go to Rock Bottom after the game so we can drink in either celebration or to drown our our sorrows.  We've been coming here for years, they're probably tired of us, and we probably are a bit loud.

Hell, we should probably storm the place wearing viking helmets as we are quite loud and boisterous.  They haven't thrown us out yet either.

All the beers here are decent, the food and late night menu good enough, but the service we get is above and beyond.  It's probably why we keep going back because they're cool to us.  If you go there and you're cool to them, they'll treat you the same way.

A great thing about this place is that it's beside Union Jack's, which acts like a douchebag filter as they usually are drawn to over there while us "classy" (I use that extremely lightly) can go to RB to get our drinks with little to no problem.

RB also has an awesome patio, perfect for spring/summer/fall.  We've celebrated many a hockey championship there.

Just know, when you go to this RB, you're drinking where champions have drank, and if you're cool, you'll be treated like a champion too.

    Wednesdays: 4 stars
    Thursday through Tuesday: 2.5 stars
    Average: 3.25 stars

Ok, I get it: it's a chain. People (including myself) are always gonna hate because it's a chain, but there are still some upsides. Luckily for me, I went on a Wednesday, so all of the upsides were mine: you can't beat $1.50 pints.

In an effort to keep up with the regularly hosted girl happy hours I'd been missing, and because Casie and Sandra had already done all the recon, I joined the ladies here on a Wednesday evening. It would have been nice to know the only entrance was on the bottom floor of the mall, but instead I walked the entire length of the outside patio seating area and back before getting a couple of gents to assist me in opening a lever to a gate so I could break in. Woops! I have a feeling that's a pretty common thing seeing as we were joined about a half hour later by another girl who did the same thing.

Rock Bottom prides itself on being a (chain) craft brewery...toting that all of their beers are "hand crafted." I've been spoiled on really good beer and fully admit I've never as much tasted XYZ lite beer (fill in the letters with any American light crap of your choice), so I think most people would be ecstatic about how good the beer is. I think it's good, but that is all, just good. Good enough to drink, especially when they have oatmeal stout brewed in house, and well worth more than one pint when it's good and just a buck fiddy.

The food at dinner was barely ok and was really the downfall of the evening. I had a version of adult mac and cheese, sans the mushrooms, which was completely overpriced at $16 when you can get a better version (and one that is smaller, only one serving) with significantly better ingredients for a more reasonable rate at Cheesestique (this review is beginning to sound like a plug for "shop local" during this time of year. I swear that's not it, I'm just a hater). I think a lot of folks would like the giant portion size, but even if you try to optimize that into two meals, it's still gonna taste processed to the max. Seriously processed. Like this makes Velveeta look like it came from an utter. None of the other ladies were terribly impressed with their meals, but then two of them got salads (yawn) and the last got a pretzel which she was actually quite enamored by.

So, would I go back? Yes. But only on a Wednesday. And not for the food. I would very happily get drunk off oatmeal stout here for a whopping $4.50 plus tax and tip.

This is only in regards to best event this place hosts, the Wednesday night 1.50 beers happy hour.  Crowded? Heck yes! But worth it? Very much so. Disregarding the whole ability to get sloppy drunk for ridiculiously little cash outlay (not my main purpose most any night), at least this place lets you do so (or more moderately sample) on a wider variety of beers than the various macro-brews sold at other places for this price point. While not the most innovative beers out there, Rock Bottom has a very solid selection of beers to choose from, with a little bit of something for everyone.

We've come here in the past because my dad has celiacs and they had a fine gluten free menu AND a gluten free beer.  We came on a Saturday afternoon to get a bite to eat before a movie.  When we arrived the hostess said they had done away with their gluten free menu and no longer had the beer.  Fine, my dad was ok with ordering a salad without dressing (a very safe option ordinarily).

We sat at about 12:25 and ordered pretty quickly.  Another server came over to confirm our gluten free issues.  Then we got our drinks.  Then we waited.  And waited.  The restaurant was maybe 20% of full and we saw other people seated... and get their food.  Really?  At one point the server came by and asked us how we were doing so far.  Fine, I guess, although food would be nice.  She came by a while after that to apologize for the food not being ready, but with no explanation (she did offer to discount our bill).  We bagged it at 1:35, the moment when our food actually came out.  It was a pretty horrible experience. Rock Bottom (in Ballston at least) is definitely off our list.

OH and when the food did come out- the salad had a huge piece of bread on it.  I get that gluten free can be confusing... but come on.  That's food allergy 101.

A pretty fun place for happy hour, particularly on Wednesdays.  They are very accommodating for large groups, which is much appreciated.

I would have given it a 4 star but I realized after the second visit that I got tricked out of a happy hour price by my first waitress.  If rail drinks are $1 at happy hour, you shouldn't give me top shelf liquor without asking.  First bill $30, second bill $11.

Not a review about the beer or bar type food (burgers, fries, etc)  It's about their brunch.  Make that, "brunch."

It's really my fault for even thinking brunch would be half way decent.  First, no pancakes?! Our server said they were no longer offering pancakes despite the fact that everything printed still mentioned pancakes as being available.

Fine. French toast then.  And by french toast I meant the kind made on a griddle/pan noot the ones deep fried which is what we got.

It's a biscuit, not a hockey puck.  Seriously if you had painted the biscuit I received black you could have thrown it on one of the Kettler ice rinks above.

A western omelet should have peppers and by some I mean more than three or four small pieces.

Server was polite, apologetic about the biscuit puck and very attentive.  Should have joust gone to Panera.

Not a bad place for happy hour plus it doesn't end til 9:00 which gives you ample time to get a few drinks. They also have decent appetizer specials for $5-$7 which is not bad considering the drinks are $2 off drafts on Fridays and the beers are house brew which is a nice break from your typical bottle beers.

I tried the Jazzyberry Raspberry Wheat Ale which was actually pretty good it had a slight fruitness and was not too sickly sweet and didnt have a huge bitter aftertaste. I also tried the Nikki's Gluten Free Honey Pale Ale which had a sweetness also and a slight burnt caramel taste finish not bad for a gluten free beer since it was my first time ever trying one. A friend of mine ordered the Ballston Brown Ale  and said she could taste the espresso and toffee finish.

We got an order of salsa & chips with a side of guacamole and  ballpark pretzels which were amazingly huge soft pretzels with a jalapeno spinach queso which was really good.

Overall: A decent place for happy hour since there is a main bar and a back bar which gives you space just in case the main bar fills up but there are tables near the back bar also. I wouldn't mind coming back for dinner and a beer  since some of the dishes that passed by our table looked pretty good.

The spinach queso dip is a must!

Macaroni and cheese was also delicious.

Service was a bit slow and not too friendly - could not make any reccomendations for us so we had to order blind.

The cheese dip is the only thing that will get me to go back.

I just love this place.  The servers are always helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and the food that I've ordered has always been awesome.  We tried the sangria on this visit and it was bonkers, SO GOOD.

Everyone's good was great and I can personally recommend the Mac and Cheese with chicken.  It's flavorful and cheesy and the chicken really gives it some substance!

The atmosphere is lively but it's a bar!  In Arlington!  It's to be expected!

It's a great place, easy to meetup with friends and

One side note, the mall that this place is attached too may possibly be the worst mall with the worst mismatch of stores in America.

It's in the Ballston Common Mall. Just keep on going straight after you enter the mall (from the Ballston Metro station side).

The beer is (very) good, but the atmosphere is quite odd, with a bar, sitting area and restaurant in nearly the same space. People who drink are loud. Staff is friendly and helpful, but only a quick pint will do for me here.

I came here around 10 pm last night with my boyfriend who wanted a drink before we caught a movie.

    Lively, fun atmosphere.
    Great drinks.
Waitress who recommended a really great drink for me (acai lemonade). She was also friendly and attentive but not in an annoying way.

We walk by this place every time we're in the mall but have never gone in. I'm glad it was one of the few places open on Easter Sunday because it was one of few options. Now I'm looking forward to going back for a meal.

Enjoyed a great birthday dinner here. The portion sizes were more than filling, the decor was lovely, the noise-level was very reasonable (other patrons were engaged in quiet conversation, and the music was audible without being overbearing), and best of all, the waitress maintained a friendly composure, even though we were seated right around the time the restaurant closed for the evening.

My burger was cooked to perfection (a perfect medium-rare), and my date enjoyed his meal as well. If we're ever in the area again, this would be a lovely place to revisit.

One caveat:  parking! The restaurant is connected to the mall, and it took us quite some time to figure out how to get inside.

Oh the memories.  I've never actually eaten here, only had beer - and only on Wed nights when it was cheapskate night.

I remembered when I first moved to the WMA, this was always a good after work meet up spot on Wed night for $1 drafts.  I think its more expensive now but I don't live there anymore (thank goodness).

For people who've just moved here from other cities, they probably got the same impression as me.  Go drink, in the mall?  How weird is that.  Even more weird was they used to allow smoking there.

I remember some good times, and cheap beers when they were 1.00 for drafts.  Even more fun was those nights when they sell you the beer and you keep the glass.

When we arrived our table was dirty. it took 10 min to be waited in once I was seated. Our table and may around us were dirty, our server probably left them that way, not expecting another table. She was less than happy to serve us.

They were completely out of their merlot and pinot noir. Also for Coke or Diet Coke lovers, don't come here because they serve Pepsi. The burgers were okay. Nothing to die over.

NO SILVERWARE! We actually had to ask for our server to give us silverware and napkins.

Service was definitely less than adequate. Our server had no regard for how we were doing and rarely checked in. Not coming back.

Even though it is a chain type of restaurant, I still think that Rockbottom has the opportunity to be one of the great places in Arlington to go for food and drinks. I've been several times and have yet to really be impressed.

The service is really hit or miss and it honestly doesn't matter if it is slammed or completely empty. I've sat at the bar with maybe 2 or 3 other people and it still took nearly 15 min to get a beer.

I ordered hot wings once and they more resembled the size of a cornish game hen. The other night I went out there with a friend for a couple of beers and we ordered chicken nachos. Now, I'm not really sure where the chicken was located on these nachos, but what's worse is that the entire thing had obviously been left under the heat lamp for quite some time and by the time we got them the cheese was hard and the chips were stale.

As far as the beer is concerned it is ok. They try to push the Red Ale or the Brown Ale on people and honestly, those are two of my least favorite beers I've had there. I will give them credit for having a regularly casked ale or specialty beer on tap, but getting a waiter or waitress to divulge that information to you is like pulling teeth.

All in all it's not a bad place to go for a beer, but I can think of about 10 better places to go that have a significantly higher quality beer selection, better food, and better service. Those 10 places are also within walking distance of the Ballston neighborhood.

In an effort not to be regretful of past decisions, I am now just bitter that I chose Rock Bottom's advertised half price burger night over Quarry House or Laughing Man Tavern.

Apparently, you have to have signed up in advance for some fantastic Mug Club membership (and only in advance) to have access to any of their specials.  Thought I could sign up before ordering.  I was wrong.

We came here for trivia the other day and I'm not entirely sure that I'll be going back.  I had a good time, but there were many things that ended up annoying me.  I'm just going to go ahead and bullet list this one - I know, it's not exciting, but at least it's to the point!

    PROS:
    - Fun trivia including bidding
    - Good company
    - Fancy table linens
    - The had hefe on tap
    - Said hefe was quite good
    - Food was also delicious
    - Decent prizes for third place!
    - Only $2 for a beer refill

    CONS:
    - Reservations for trivia? What's that all about?
    - Was somebody out sick or were they planning on being that short staffed?
    - Folding table that had to be covered by fancy table linens
    - Happy hour specials aren't all that great as well as misleading based off the website.  $2.50 pints? Um... Try $4.95!
    - The acoustics were awful and you could barely hear especially during the "name the song" round

All and all I had a good time and I enjoyed the trivia and it was run well... Most of the things I was annoyed about were outside influences!  But it was frustrating enough to avoid going for a while.

If you love beer and you can get over the fact that this place is in the Ballston Mall, then this is the place for you.  I don't drink beer and I still find the existence of Ballston Mall an oddity, so I have no business coming here.  But beer snobs and liquor-only drinkers must co-exist harmoniously in social circles so it is inevitable that I spend time in beer snob restaurants.

I'll give 5 stars for the Ball Park Pretzels - two huge soft pretzels that come with an incredible spinach cheese dip.  It's a must if you're throwing down glass after glass of ale or slowly enjoying a gin and tonic.  Speaking of which, they get 0 stars, if I can do that, for the weakest gin and tonic ever poured.  It tasted like sprite.  I paid $6 for a sprite.  The Stout Onion Soup gets 2 stars - the soup is tasty but half the bowl is congealed swiss cheese.

They have great happy hour specials but I think they're different each day of the week.  I think it was $2 beers the night we went.  And they have a frequent drinker program called the Mug Club that has all sorts of rewards and perks.  If you weren't an alcoholic before, you will be soon after joining.

The Rock Bottom Brewery: the only way to get there is through the Ballston Common Mall aka "rock-bottom." Thank you, I'll be here all night.

RBB's been in Arlington since about the time I moved here, yet I've never been until the yelp trivia crew made a stop here. To be honest, brew pubs are about as predictable as your average Penthouse Forum entry. Let's take a look:

Brew pub: five or six beers, which will inevitably be amber, pale ale, IPA, hefeweizen, porter and stout. If you're lucky you'll get a seasonal selection. Sometimes they'll have an unadvertised pisswater on offer for that friend you always have who pitches a fit when he inevitably blurts out "whaddaya mean you don't serve f*ckin' Bud Light?" These beers will taste the same as the selection at every other brew pub known to man, bar none. They'll always have some sort of "witty" name like "Big Vic's Short-Order Porter." Food will consist of deep-fried and heavily salted apps, burgers and steaks. Antique license places and Radio Flyer wagons will decorate the walls.

Penthouse Forum: you and a friend are hiking through the mountains. You come upon two earth-shatteringly beautiful women rubbing each other down with oil. One of them will ask the two of you to "help ease their tension" by rubbing them both down ALL OVER, if you know what I mean (hint: you do). You and your friend promptly proceed to doff your clothes and, for some mysterious reason, compare lingam size. Yours will always be the larger of the two. Always. To assuage readers you're both "all man" after the aforementioned tool inspection, you will proceed to boff as if boffing just got discounted 70 percent at the local Marshalls clearance rack. Both of them thank you profusely and walk off into the sunset afterwards. You can't believe what just happened, but you know you've just GOT to write Penthouse Forum.

What I'm getting at is that most brew pubs don't venture off into risky territory, and RBB is no exception. Having said that, it certainly isn't a bad place, but I don't see myself stopping by all the time.

I had a burger for dinner, and for a pub burger, it was actually pretty good. In fact, it's probably one of the best burgers I've had in Arlington. The patty was nice and thick, the bun didn't fall apart, they didn't skimp on the toppings, and it was actually cooked it medium rare like I asked for.

The beer: eh. It was better than Bud or Miller, but that was about it. I only had one of their selections (the kolsch), but I'd be willing to try a pale ale or something with a bit more "oomph" next time.

I arrived just as trivia was being set up. Trivia takes place in a back room which I really like, since it gives at least a modicum of privacy. The trivia emcee was outgoing and personable and clearly liked what he was doing. How many of us can say that about our lives? I thought he shot through some of the questions a little too quickly, but overall we had a good time. In fact, if I have friends over on a Monday, I'd actually consider stopping by for trivia. The questions were challenging, but nothing over the top.

Service was okay, but nothing special. Towards the end of the night he seemed to vanish, and Zach and I had to attempt flagging him down several times to inquire about the burger pricing (see above). Several yelpers remarked that our server was quite handsome. Frankly I'd settle for a server with a cleft palate who pays a little more attention to his tables.

They serve dollar drafts on Wednesdays. I haven't been, but having walked by there numerous times during the spring and summer, it uh, pretty much draws the types of people that you'd assume "dollar drafts" do. Most frattastic, amirite brah?

The verdict: I'd actually recommend going here for trivia night more than I'd suggest going here strictly as a dining/drinking option. If you've been to a Friday's, you've been here. I live about a block away, and if I was in the mood for dining out, there are honestly so many varied choices in the DC area that I'd be hard pressed to justify coming here. But to play some trivia, have a burger and maybe a few beers, I can easily recommend it.
