Sam, I need some elbow room.
Your place of business sits on a giant parking lot, but your dining area is the size of a matchbox. Â I'd be amazed if that parking lot gets half full on the busiest day of the year. Â You should really reclaim some space so people are not stuffed in like sardines.
But I digress.
Sam's Chili is a local eatery that apparently, becomes ridiculously busy around lunch time. Â I was lucky to get there maybe 10 minutes before the rush. Â When I say rush, it makes it sound like there was a stampede. Â To be honest it was about 4 people in line, but for as small as Sam's is that means you're out the door.
Despite my order simply being 2 cheese coneys, several people in front of me received their orders before. Â Maybe they did not get coneys, and they had to make chili from scratch or something. Â That's the only thing I could think of, because it was a good 20 minutes before my name was called. Â Thankfully I was able to find a seat at one of the 5 or so tables in the place. Â Clearly they were designed for take-out only.
If the chili was fresh, it did not taste it. Â It was slightly better than average, but the bun was certainly not. Â You could tell it was not fresh. Â The one saving grace of Sam's though is the dog they use. Â It is in fact the only saving grace, but their dogs are absolutely delicious. Â Every other chili parlor should steal theirs, because they do that right.
But in the end, I can't recommend Sam's. Â The service is bad, there's no room, the price significantly higher than other chili joints, and they only do 1/4th of a coney right.
