If you like 'em smashed down on a flat top griddle, uneven perimeter, a couple holes in the meat to catch melting cheddar, and a bit of crust on the exterior, then Smashburger is your place.  If you like 'em thick and dry, then keep going back to where you're going.

Not sure what Smashburger has changed recently but the overall flavor of everything has been kicked up a notch.  Always liked it but my last two visits have been over the top good.

Not impressed.  The burger meat is paper thin, they didn't have truffle fries as stated online, and some dessert we'd seen online too.  The buffalo chicken burger was good, but not enough buffalo sauce, had to ask for more.  My husband got the mushroom burger, nothing special, and the meat was so thin and small you couldn't even see if through the bun.  The chili cheese fires were another disappointment, the cheese wasn't even melted when they arrived.  We asked if they could melt the cheese the guy said they didn't have a microwave.  We had the Oreo milk shake, that was the best part.   We probably won't go back here again.  We'd rather hit up Cherry Cricket, Red Robin, or even Chili's!!

It's nice having a fast food restaurant that has a veggie burger. The black bean burger at Smashburger is pretty good. It's not bursting with flavor, but if you build your own and add just the right toppings, it can be very good. And the fries...it's not often I get to indulge in fast-food fries--considering most of those types of restaurants don't have a vegetarian burger--and I absolutely love the skinny, crispy fries here. I like mine plain, so I haven't tried their special fries with garlic and rosemary, but I have heard those are tasty too. One bonus is that, on every receipt I've received so far, there is an online survey that gives you a free order of fries upon your next visit.

I can't give my opinion on their actual hamburgers, but Smashburger seems to have a good reputation for them. But their black bean veggie burger and fries are worth trying.

While not in the same league as Denver's best burger joints (Park Burger, HBurger and Larkburger) it has placed 5th in the DENVER BURGER WARS on my list.  Originated in Denver, just like all the rest, it is now a multi-unit restaurant concept looking to expand.  It's more expensive when compared to HBurger and Larkburger.

This is the place to come if you want a ton of options as they have an extensive item list to top off your burger.  The fries are okay but no where nearly as good as those you will covet at HBurger and Larkburger. Smashburger also has a number of side items - more than any other burger joint in town.

So it is good but not great, better than Crown Burger and Griff's by far, but not on par with the best burger joints in town!

Was in the area on business and dropped in after reading some of the other reviews.  I got the Colorado burger With the smash fries.  The burger was good not great (I'm still partial to 5 guys for a great burger) and I didn't care for the smash fries, but that could just be a personal preference.

SMASH BURGER. Yeah this is pretty good. While it tries really, really hard to be hip, to be different and interesting, it mostly succeeds, with the rosemary fries and lucious fresh burgers. The fried chilis are a tiny bit mealy, but really tasty.

This locaiton struggles wiht space, a line meandering around and through walkways. But that's a sign of a good product right?

So shut your damn mouth and just go here, kaaaaaay?

Nice service. It was our first time here and I came with 5 other people. They waited 10 mins for us to order. :) single person restroom with no baby changing station, not that i have children. More pricey than your average fast food restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is pretty cool, very futuristic. Upon reading reviews, i decided to order the colorado burger with sides of fried green chiles and fried pickles since i wouldnt be able to find these in TX. The food was delicious!

LOVE Smashburger, one of the best burgers in town...great haystack onion rings, fries and shakes....quite surprised with the chicken sandwich.....it was cold when arrived, very flat, thin chick breast...not much flavor....same price as burger but way less meat....so I learned my lesson....don't order chicken at a burger joint.......PLUS this location on Quebec ST has become very popular, and over crowded....also soda machine replaced with new COKE machine, where you dial your drink, several 100s flavors, one customer at a time.....most customers taking too long to decide.....long waits for drinks......we need a NEW SMASHBURGER closer to airport....

Not too bad.  Tried the Colorado Burger with Smash fries as they are specialties.  Overall, pretty decent cheeseburger.  It was slightly overcooked for my liking which sucked some of the juice out of the meat.  Other than that it did satisfy my cheeseburger craving.

I would go back here, but after I give some other places in this seemingly burger loving town a try.

    I liked It!

Burger was good and fresh, They offer many options and toppings. cool atmosphere. Easy "fast food"...go to the counter order a burger, they bring it out and you go about your day, its a good place for lunch. Prices were good. Offer a couple of beer selections.

I'm a fan of the Smashburger and this location is no exception to that rule. I had a recent craving for skinny fries and after searching on my Yelp app I turned up the fact that 1) this Smashburger is relatively close to me and 2) SmashFries are undoubtedly skinny. They are also seasoned with rosemary and sea salt which makes them extra delicious in my opinion.

Fun fact: Smashburger also makes fried pickles. Slices, not spears in case that's important to you.

I was in and out in no time with a small Smash (it's a smaller burger than regular size, but I'm not sure of the ounces), my fries and a decaffeinated iced tea that they brew there. Lovely. Also interesting to note - Smashburger had Mello Yellow on their fountain machine which is quite possibly the first time I've seen that soda in a decade.

Colorado smash with sweet potato fries.

Really, really good.  I wound up taking the peppers off the burger about 1/3 of the way in.  They took up too much of the flavor quotient.  The fries were possible hand cut in Heaven and delivered.

    Great place.

FYI - if they get a rush...they just stop taking orders.  So don't be alarmed if you show up, there's a line, and nothing's happening.  They take their time and it's pretty evident why.

I was staying at a local hotel and had my burger crave going. There was on fast food chain near, not! I saw a store front with the name Smashbuger, it sounded like it might be just what I needed. It was. The menu is simple with lots of burgers or custom burgers to choose from.

I ordered the Colorado with a side of onion rings, was given a number and found an open table. My order was delivered in about 5 minutes. It was a very good burger. The burger meat taste fresh as did all the toppings of green chili's, chipotle mayo, lettuce, and cheddar cheese work perfectly. The onion rings were tasty but could have been warmer. Also for me the patty while large was a little thin and seemed to be slightly overwhelmed buy the thick bun, still this is a very god burger. My meal came to a totaled just under $10, I good price for this kind of quality and flavor.

Smashburger is a small burger chain based in Denver, but seems to be expanding nation wide. Much like my favorite Five Guys. Like Five Guys you'll find fresh ground burgers cooked as you order. Is this my new favorite burger chain? No, Five Guys still holds that crown. Yet Smashburger would be my next choice when the burger crave sets in, yeah it tops In-N-Out.

Burgers are pretty good (in & out is the best) but a close second!!  Plus they have fried pickles.

The Spicy baja Chicken sandwich is one of the best chicken sandwiches that I've had in a long time.

They jury is still out on the Sweet Potato Fries - not sure if I like the rosemary on them.  They were different - not terrible, just different.

For a mid-range burger I think they do a good job.  Tried the fried veggies once upon a time and haven't had them since as you don't get very many for the $2.99 price tag.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner.  Now, I know it's a "burger place" but we both got salads.  I'm a sucker for an awesome salad :)
And they were awesome!  Hubby got the Cobb (I had a bite) which was excellent and I got the Harvest Chicken Salad which was amazing!  The portions were huge! I had to take the other half to go.
We will definitely be visiting here again :)

I have been a couple times and both times it was very good.  You walk in and it's always busy or a crowd is right behind you!!  This was our dinner choice after the Children's Museum last night!!  As I entered the store I was pleasantly greeted by the person behind the counter with a smile and a how can help you.  I don't eat beef, so I always jump to the Smash Chicken part of the menu!!  Yummy!!n

I have had a salad their before - Yummy,  but my favorite is the BBQ Ranch Chicken!!  I like mine with no sauce on it at all (since I don't like Ranch and BBQ is usually too sweet).  It comes with applewood bacon, lettuce, tomato and the sauces.  I get it without the sauces, and add swish cheese!!  Wow - good stuff.  They even have a great kids menu and sides like sweet potato fries and haystack onions (a favorite).

You can also create your own burger or chicken sandwich.  Nice to have that option.

If you are new to Denver this is a must go!

As far as burgers go, this is the best. It takes me back to my childhood and the burgers my dad would fry up in the cast iron pan, it was quality, grass-fed beef back in the day, not the tasteless, genetically mutated crap that most grocery stores carry now. The pure flavor needs nothing more than salt and pepper... and don't even think about grilling all the juices away by flame broiling!

The first time I bit into a Swiss & Mushroom Smashburger, I was so relieved that I'd ordered take out... I'm sure I would have embarrassed myself with my spontaneous "Harry Met Sally" moment of orgasmic utterances. The creamy Swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms were the perfect blanket for this magnificient 1/2 lb patty of bliss. The fresh, firm & tender eggy bun put it over the top.

After a shower and a cigarette, I could only anticipate my next encounter with that gorgeous hunk of beefcake called Smashburger.

This was my first visit to a Smashbuger place.  I tried the Spicy Baja burger with sweet potato fries.  The amount of spice was just right for me.  That means it will be good if you like hot food but may be too hot for some.  Both the burger and the fries were very good.  The service was extremely fast as the food came out about the time we got to the table.  This was helped by us getting there just before the dinner rush started.

I have frequented other burger places and this is definitely one of the best.  I think it is also better than 5 guys in taste and especially with the variety of topping you can get.  I will definitely come again in the future.

I also like that that had other sides like fried veggies and salad entries.  I didn't try any of those but they looked interesting.

After telling some friends about Smashburger from my last visit to Denver, we decided to try it the next time we were in town.  So, we stopped by there about 5:45pm, just before the dinner rush (there was a constant stream of people form 6-7pm).  It was just as good as last time.

SInce it was the first visit for three of our party, we asked several questions about the menu items and beer.  The staff was very helpful and they offered useful recommendations.  They brought out the burgers really fast.  The first two orders were brought to our tables before the other two guys had finished ordering.

I had the Avocado Club Smashchicken ($7) with Veggie Frites ($3).  Both were really good but I think I liked the Colorado Smashburger that I had last time slightly better.  The other items that we ordered were the Colorado Smashburger, Mushroom Swiss Smashburger, Spicy Baja Smashburger (see Rick M.'s review), sweet potato Smashfries, Haystack Onions and a bucket of beer ($10).  Everyone thought their burgers were delicious.  I tried the sweet potato fries and the haystack onions.  Both were very good.  I generally do not care that much for sweet potato fries and onions rings but I thought they were both better than the regular smashfries that I had ordered on my first visit to Smashburger. I would probably order the veggie frites or haystack onion when I come back again.

Good burgers, good sides, good beer and good company... there is not much more that one can ask for...

My experience here has been better recently - as long as I don't go on a Tuesday!

Tuesday seems to be burnt burger day in the kitchen and I have no idea why. Consistently I have gone on Tuesdays and been server burgers well past Medium Well. I have gone Wednesdays and Thursdays and the burgers have been fine.

Friendly staff at the register and in the dining room. They serve Coke Zero, always a plus in my book.

Parking is still a cluster fuck here - park down by the vision store and walk back - worth the walk and the lessened chance of damage to your vehicle from errant parkers up front. Pretty much all of Quebec Square is bad when it comes to parking.

You can escape here with a 1/3 lb  All American (cheeseburger), regular fries, and a beverage for $9.75 - slightly more for the 1/2 lb version.

I still prefer the Lafayette location a smidgen more but this has now risen to a 4. Not as good as it gets but I am a fan.

Just a heads up, and not a big surprise, between 11:30-1 this place is PACKED! It has limited dining room space and if your group is larger than 4 I wouldn't suggest going during those peak hours expecting to dine in.

There ain't nothin' better than a good burger... except for a GREAT burger!! Especially for being a chain, this place delivers the goods. Enough options without seeming Starbucksian, with a variety of toppings and sides to keep everyone happy. My personal favourite is to get a nice fried egg on top. The meat is perfectly balanced between juicy and firm, so it doesn't fall apart on first bite nor does it dribble down that expensive new Tommy Bahama shirt you just bought. And the slightly toasted egg roll... it's like two delicious bookends holding together the saga of Awesome.

Their rosemary fries... eh, I'm not a huge fan of them, but I'm sure some people are. They're a little too matchstickey for me, and the flavour just... I dunno... it doesn't seem to really go with the burgers. Or maybe it's just one of those things that's really tasty for the first few bites.

I'm picky with burgers, and there are honestly few in town that I look forward to eating. I really like this place, and I'll be back quite soonly!

New to Denver and Smashburger was a site for soar eyes!

I have been a couple times and both times it was very good.  The aroma of beef and jalapenos is roaming the air.  As I entered the store I was pleasantly greeted by the person behind the counter with a smile and a how can help you.  I needed some time to review the menu being new to the whole Smashburger scene.

I have had two of their salads - Yummy, and two of their burgers, one of which had pepper jack cheese and jalapenos.  It was fantastic!  I recommend the 1/3 pound burger and not the 1/2.  The 1/2 was way to big (over flowing over the edge of the buns).  But, if you have starved yourself maybe the 1/2 is the way to go.

You can also create your own burger.  Nice to have that option.

I was also surprised to find they have a liquor license.  I think I may try one of their concoctions the next time I go.

If you are new to Denver this is a must go!

Not too much special about Smashburger.  They are good burgers, but do not compare to In & Out or Five Guys.  The burgers are good sized.  The smash fries have an odd taste.  I am not sure if it is the olive oil or the rosemary.  I did like the chili.  I do not like beans, so i am quite happy any time i can find an all beef chili.

This is better than the standard fast food fair, but is not at the level of the top burger joints.

So reading over most of these reviews, I see lots of people trying to compare Smashburger to an In-N-Out or something similar. This isn't that type of burger.

This is your thick, meaty burger... think Fuddruckers or Red Robin. You get huge burgers, and you pay upwards or $7 for them. That's the cas here.

    You also get amazing service.

Today was my first visit to a Smashburger ever, and I loved it. I had the BBQ/bacon/cheese burger (my favorite combo anywhere I go), and I added sauteed mushrooms. I also ordered sweet potato fries (again, one of my most favorite things ever) which they took to another level with rosemary seasoning.

Aside from great food that was freshly cooked yet still took about five minutes from start to finish, a smartly-packed to-go box and a clean restaurant, they were exceedingly friendly. I was greeted with smiles and thanked every which way I turned. It was refreshing.

    Love it!

This was my very first taste of what I've heard to be a great burger place.

Well, we went into this really small restaurant and I was shocked on the dining space. Ordering at the counter was cramped!

I ordered the 1/2 pound Burger, with sweet potato fries, and a drink all for about $12.
The meat was delicious and the bun texture and taste was a flop!
The sweet potato fries were great.

All-in all, I would try somewhere else for a better Burger.

Whenever I'm craving a burger, I'm thinking of the Baja burger from Smashburger.  Some will say that the meat is too salty, but that's the seasoning they have literally smashed into the burger while cooking.  I didn't realize it but all of the components of the Baja burger make it spicy and flavorful, and all the reasons why I consistently get the same one every time.  I've had the Smashfries, but to be honest just the regular fries are good for me.  Don't get my wrong the Smashfries are wonderfully aromatic, but when I'm having a very flavorful burger, the fries are there just to compliment it.

Whenever I've been in the store, the guy taking my order has always been friendly.  There have also been times when someone has stopped by the table to simply inquire how we're liking our food.  The music is upbeat and fun, and I enjoy myself whenever I spoil myself for a burger here.

3.5 but not a 4. After placing my order at the counter I was pretty disappointed to see a room full of messy tables to greet me. I found a clean one and a few minutes later a guy started wiping up the others so maybe they were just reallllly busy?
I got the Colorado burger which was pretty good and had spicy peppers and a chipotle bun. Not the bestest burger in the world but I thought it was definitely worth eating. I got the "Smash fries" to go with it and they were pretty good as well. A little olive oil and some seasoning and that put a unique spin on the old traditional shoestrings.
Nothing like In N Out, maybe kinda like Fat Burger? Either way it's quite a bit different than both and if you like the other 2 give it a shot. They're opening up one in Vegas soon and I'll definitely give it another shot there.

This concept of having a great burger at a fast food location just doesn't pan out.

I ordered the Classic Smashburger and smash fries. The burger was sloppily thrown together and the bun soggy. They gave me regular fries instead of smash fries (aw, i was looking forward to rosemary and garlic!). It seemed like a very sad attempt at a resturant style burger. In reality, the whole thing was just a tiny step above a big mac. At $6 a burger its just not worth a return trip.

Next time I'm feeling burgers I'll stick with Udi's or Old School Burger.

Somewhere along the hamburger time line an often unfair comparison to In-N-Out burger started to occur. You'll hear it all the time. Is Five Guys Burgers and Fries better than In-N-Out? Well, the answer is "no" but that's not the point here.

See, what's unfortunate about the In-N-Out comparison is that many types of burgers are categorized incorrectly. Take SmashBurger for example. SmashBurger is NOTHING like In-N-Out so guaranteed somewhere in some review someone wrote, "This is alright but it's not In-N-Out". Well no shit!

Nothing about SmashBurger's operation resembles what In-N-Out is trying to do. In fact, if I had to pinpoint any direct competition, I'd say Red Robin is the closest competitor. SmashBurger offers pre-built burgers and also allows customization with guacamole, fried eggs, bacon...etc.

All food items here are à la carte. Burgers come in 1/3, 1/4 and 1/2lb sizes. Fries are served either regular or as SmashFries which are doused with some oil and seasonings. SmashBurger uses real silverware. See the parallels between this and Red Robin?

Biggest difference? Red Robin charges a hell of a lot more. SmashBurger wins hands down in that category. And the food's pretty good too.

The thing that most stands out is the friendly service I received. I felt like I was a super star and should be leaving behing a signed photo (all you need to do is ask, OK?).

The burger wasn't the best I've had, but certainly a good burger. It's angus, which I don't always enjoy as much as just good ole' beef.

I got blue cheese and bacon. I liked that the bacon wasn't left hanging a foot over the burger, making me have to open it and tear it in half so it fits nicely. So yay for that. But I didn't know I had to ask for the lettuce and tomato, so it only came with bread, meat, blue cheese and bacon.

What kept them from a 4th star for me were their fries. They arrived less than hot enough and were too thin. They were of similar thickness to McDonald's fries, which are low in my book. And as I sat looking at the Sonic across the street, I was wishing I had some of their tots!

Well, we were hoping we'd get a good burger and fries - you know just the standard.

It was mediocre at best...however...the service was great.

I would recommend just sticking with McD's rather than coming here...the herb fries were gross...the burgers were odd and flavorless.

Maybe Fatburger will come this way and help out with the good burger findings.

Overall, a 3.... but the baja burger I wolfed down would have most likely been a 4-5. It all happened so fast. I was sitting there with this big ole half pound burger with chipotle mayo, guacomole, jalapenos, cheese, tomatoes and onions, and the next thing I know, I wake up and there is nothing in front of me, except some fries and my bewildered wife and son. I must have blacked out.

Anyhow.. our waiter was somewhat of an idiot, he called me "Ma'am", when I am clearly all sorts of MAN, and he asked every other person in the restaurant if they ordered a milkshake before he found the rightful owner, my son. While the dining area is pretty clean, it is really small. Also, there's one trashcan but the receptacle area for it is the size of a soda can, which makes jamming your garbage in,  feel like you are mating with shoelace hole... Okay, I am being a little dramatic there, but you get the point I hope.

    Moral of the story:

    Great Burgers, decent fries/shakes...

Mildly retarded dude working the register, and restroom size dining area.

    Get you some.

I like the SmashBurger location here.  Was here having dinner with Hubs yesterday evening of Friday January 16 2009.  When we arrived there were slightly a long queue for the order.

At least we managed to find a seat to eat there.  My root beer float came first then about 5 to 10 mins later came our main order.  The price was OK.  Hubs has his Classic Smashburger while I choose the Mushroom Swiss.  We both request for Jalapeno in our burgers in it and the burgers to be well done.

    GREASY-YUMMY-DELISH!!

Hubs had his order with SMASH Fries while I had the norm French Fries.  I like the flavor of the SMASH Fries, though I cant deny its drenched with greasy oil and some flavoring to which I cant figure out, be it, the taste of some herbs, garlic, basil or something..

All in all I like it with 4 stars though Hubs prefers his all time favorite, JACK IN THE BOX and give this SmashBurger 3 stars.

When we were eating our dinner there, many more patrons came in.. and the place is indeed JAM-PACKED with families bringing their children.  I so wish they have a bigger place or something.  Come during the NON-Peak period, if you need to eat there in peace and have lots of patience waiting in line or the patience just to get a spot to eat.

Two thumbs up for me!!  I will definitely come back provided if I'm craving for SmashBurger in the future..

I am a big fan of Smashburger, but this particular location had a great layout with the kitchen in the back instead of in the front. It makes it seem more like a restaurant and less like fast food.

Also I love their burgers they are cooked perfectly and have a lot of flavor. I also enjoy the variety of choices. They had some new french fries that have some savory spices and olive oil on top. They were fantastic and a nice alternative to regular fries.

One of the best parts of this restaurant was the people working were! They were some of the most friendly people I have come into contact with.

If you are in the mood for more than just a fast food hamburger check them out...you won't be disappointed.

My family and I dropped into the new SmashBurger. To be honest I had never heard of them before but impressed to find out its a Colorado thing. The quality of the burgers are really good and the restaurant is nice as well. Shakes are AWESOME.

Now on to the not so good. We ordered 4 burgers. 3 out of the 4 were wrong and they are extremely pricey in my opinion. I think this has to do with the fact that there are no meals so its all ala carte.

I contacted the corporate office to let them know my order was not done correctly and they were extremely nice and provided us with coupons for replacements. That is a A+.
