I was convinced to head here the other night based on Yelp reviews so i figure the least i can do is share my experience here.
They're open quite late which is HUGE for us, its hard to find places like Southside - I can assure you we will return, many times. - The parking was free, the garage is really nice, walk was all of maybe 100 yards - you couldn't make it any more convenient.
The food tonight was STELLAR, my wife got the Drunken Pot Roast - amazing quality meat (no fat on it at all), super tasty, absolutely as good as everyone says it is. I got the Stuffed Pork-loin which was a special on Saturday night. It had cornbread and bacon stuffing which I've never had before but I honestly think I could eat eat it for dinner just about every night, it was so good I wish i had picked up a 2nd one (to go) for the next day.
We also got the breadbasket which typically feels like something you shouldn't be paying for but it was cheap anyhow, like $3, however in this case it felt justified based on the 2 cornbread and 4 roll things which were really good.
Good beers, really nice waitress, food came quick (granted we were there late), absolutely not a single thing i'd have changed about the experience except unless they were like... handing the food out free or something
I almost didn't write this review because I don't want everyone to rush in there and take up the available food and seats for when we come next but I'd say they deserve the kudos for a job well done.
My husband and I just visited Southside 815 for the second time and must say that this is some of the best southern food that I have ever had the opportunity to eat at a restaurant. Their low country shrimp, sausage and grits are to die for. I paired it with a side of kale and um, um um it was yummy. My husband had the fried pork chop dinner and paired that with the union gravy and man were those chops juicy. Â We ordered the mac and cheese to take home but it was sooo awesome that we ate it and ordered another to take home. Â You can tell that the cook puts a lot of love into her dishes. I plan on being a regular here. Â They are going to know my name. lol
Review Source:I've been going to SouthSide several times a month for the last 7 years. The service is great. Greg and Tara, two of the regular bartenders, are pros. They are friendly and responsive and they clearly want you to enjoy your time there. They have a pretty big menu of Southern dishes and rotating specials and happy hours. I think their burgers are some of the best in old town. The more expensive menu items are hit and miss but all the staples are between good and great.
It feels like this bar / restaurant is part of the fabric of Old Town now that they have been here for 20 years. Beyond being the local watering hole, they also organize community charity golf tournaments and bus trips to some local sporting events here and there. They also have occasional special meals like crab boils.
All in all, it's a great place to grab a drink after work, a good meal or catch a game.
