The best sandwich/wrap/kebab ever!  So good.  So so good.  I usually get the pork kebab with salad inside the wrap.  The meat is perfectly seasoned and cooked. I also love the fries, but dare I say they might be a bit over seasoned (and I love a salty fry!).  The owner is super friendly and I love supporting this neighborhood place...I would be devastated if it wasn't across the street anymore!

This place is great.  The menu has something for almost everyone and they make all of their bread, etc in-house.  All of the ingredients they use are very good quality.  The owner went out of his way to do something for me that he doesn't normally do, and it made me feel like a million bucks, and I thank him for that.

I crave SP Kebab at least once a week. The #3 is my favorite. The meat he puts on the wrap is very good. I get out of there well fed for $7. He can adjust spice/flavor based on your preference. Over the last few months they have also been getting faster, which is important for their casual set-up.

It is nice to have a restaurant (among a few others) that I can count on in my neighborhood. Thanks SP Kebab.

Having just spent a semester traveling through Western & Eastern Europe as well as Israel - I found myself craving a good schwarma/doner kebab when I arrived back in Rogers Park this summer. Needless to say, SP Kebab at the corner of Sheridan and Pratt did not disappoint.

Peter, the owner, introduced himself the first time that I walked in and without even knowing that I lived across the street, took the time to ask me questions and showed that he cared about my business. The shop - very euro in style and music was the perfect atmosphere to eat the most delicious kebab wrap I have ever had. While I have a special love for Chipotle, Peter's kebabs blow them out of the water and when I find myself craving a large (trust me, these things are huge!) & somewhat healthy meal -- I always go to SP Kebab.

The owner and his employees have always been incredibly kind and took the time to prepare my lahmachun wrap with pork & chicken and the barbecue sauce - be sure to ask for it on your meal, it, along with the tzatziki is delicious! More than once, Peter has given me an excellent suggestion about what to try and I never come away disappointed.

Even my girlfriend, a vegetarian, loves the way that the kebabs smell and the taste of the cajun fries! Absolutely delicious and I now find myself going there once a week!

Thank you for everything, SP Kebab! Keep up the great work! You should look into the Belly rewards program for your customers! :)

What a great find!  I would have never known about this restaurant if I didn't take part in the Taste of RogersEdge.  SP Kebab was generous with their delicious variety of a taste portion.  I blame them for prematurely making me full when I wasn't even a third done with the food crawl.  The bowl that they handed out was packed with chicken and pork shwarma, a falafel, and salad.  The meat was seasoned well and the vegetables were very fresh.  I wasn't too much a fan of the falafel, but my friends loved it.

I returned a couple months later to have a sit-down dinner.  The menu was pretty simple, you can get any type of kebab (chicken, pork, or vegetarian) in a wrap, bread, cup. or plate.  I got the wrap and it was delicious, the quality was as great as when I had it the first time.  You get a good amount of food for the price.  The service was very friendly.  I would love to come back!

This place has incredible deals, incredible food, and incredible owners. Couldn't recommend it higher as a neighborhood highlight. Enough said.

As an added benefit, you can head a few doors down to The Pillar coffeeshop on the corner to get some work or reading done after your meal.

UPDATE: As if I needed any more reason to love them, they threw in a free bottle of Honest Tea with my order when I told them I was going to leave a positive review on yelp. Very nice guys, will definitely be ordering from them again

First and foremost, I have to commend their staff. My friend and I spent at least two hours there, half-eating and half-talking, yet they only had a smile for us and a simple "was it good?" They were always polite, and were quick with our orders. It was our first time being there and they were very patient with us just standing awkwardly there staring at their menu. In my mind such commendable customer service deserves a full five stars in that section!

As for food, my friend purchased their Chicken in Lahmcun Wrap and I purchased the  Chicken Kebab in Bread. I'm not going to lie, I winced at their prices at first. However, when we received our orders we were incredibly pleased to find that there was such large portions. Their prices match their sizes well in my opinion! I'm not going to lie and say it was the best kebab meal I've ever had but it was pretty good in its own right. Their homemade sauce worked well with the chicken and there was lots of fresh vegetables in it. I just was not fond of how difficult it was to pick up my food to eat and that there was so much hidden vegetables on the bottom. Still my friend devoured her's and I finished mine to the best of my abilities (taking some home to munch on later, and it was still good the day after in the refrigerator).

Restaurant atmosphere and appearance wise, it is pretty clean. More specifically the bathroom seems well kept, which I always give extra brownie points to the staff for that! A well kept bathroom in my mind means a well kept restaurant. The place is a bit small but cozy.

So I definitely recommend this place if you are in this part of town. Their food is very filling, the atmosphere is pleasing and the staff wonderful.

This has become our go-to restaurant in Rogers Park!  The staff is wonderful, the food is DELICIOUS and affordable.  I seriously can't say enough good things about this place...it's amazing!

I know this review isn't very helpful...but really...just eat here.

The food here really is this good.  Flavorful, crispy meat with fresh veggies, homemade sauces, and amazing bread.  Lots of options, very reasonable pricing.  Wow.  Nice place inside, not a dive at all.  Very friendly folks behind the counter.

I went here this evening with my sister because we have never had kabobs before and wanted to try something new. They were amazing for never having a kabob before it was the best kabob i have ever had. We are going to make a weekly spot. The gentelmen working behind the counter (the owner?) was super helpful in recomendations for both my sister and I. I would recommed this place to anyone.

I've had the wrap with both kinds of meat - pork and chicken and that was tasty. Furthermore, it was way too much for one sitting, but I finished it anyway. Ouch, my bad. But the seasoning and sauce are delicious.

But what really prompted me to write this was the falafels I had here the other night with some french fries. Hot, fresh and the perfect crunch. No filler. Just chick pea flour and seasonings. It's hard to find truly good falafel in this town.  The fries were also crispy and delicious.

Besides that, the owner is a character and he stands behind his product and truly wants you to enjoy your food.  He's proud of the attention and quality that goes into what they serve.

Excellent. Have had kebabs in Krakow, Amsterdam, and Vienna.  This place does them better.  Meat is super fresh and tasty.

Love it when they make them extra spicy.

It has finally happened.  I have located a place that serves schwarma, kebabs, or whatever the hell else you want to call it like they do in Europe.

Happiness!! JOY!  Satisfaction!! = all things you will experience when you go here.

I had my first Schwarma/kebab in Amsterdam at the urging of my travel companion. He could not stop talking about how he had it in Budapest 4 years earlier.  I mean, let's face it, any food that you remember and talk fondly of 4 years after had to be pretty damn good.  I now understand this obsession and am plagued by it.  Once you have one, you will be hooked for life!

However, the problem is that we have found no place in Chicago that made it the same until August 2012 - a month I will never forget. haha. so dramatic, right?

I had the #1: lahmacun wrap with salad. Basically that means pork and chicken seasoned to perfection with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, yogurt type sauce and spicy sauce all wrapped in a cooked dough/bread/not quite a pita b/c it's so much better than a pita.

I cannot even describe to you how good this is. It's so fresh, healthy and HUGE!
I had one of those moments where I saw how big it was and said, "there is no way I can finish that".  Um.....I had to actually stop myself from eating it all b/c I was trying to avoid a food coma but I could have done it and did complete the mission 4 hours later when I polished the rest off.

Please go here.  You will not be disappointed. The service is great. The staff made great recommendations and completely understand when you say, "I had this in Europe but I can't find it in Chicago" and  I loved their super confident response of, "You've come to the right place".

It is not only the "right" place but the "best" place!

I can't really say any more than has already been said.  Really, really delicious food,  super helpful and nice employees, and a clean restaurant.  I've eaten European-style kebabs before, and these were fresher and better seasoned than anything else I've eaten.  Went with my husband and brother, and we talked about the amazing food the entire walk home.  The bro even tweeted about how amazing it was while we were eating, if that tells you anything.  Run, don't walk there!

Really great European-style kebabs!  I haven't had anything quite like the Kebabs I had in Krakow, but now I have!  Also, really reasonable prices for what you're getting, which is a very large amount of awesome seasoned meat.  The owner is really nice, also, and very passionate about making the best kebabs.

Yummy! A couple friends and I were going to the place next door, which ended up closed, so we decided to give this place a shot.

What an awesome surprise! They were super polite, suggested I not order a side with my sandwich because it's too much food (they could have made a couple extra bucks, but were not concerned with this - I ended up only eating half my delicious falafel sandwich, & had the other half wrapped for lunch the next day). My boyfriend ordered the fries and they were probably the best fries I've ever eaten, our whole table couldn't stop eating them!

Just really, really excellent, and incredibly inexpensive for all the yummy food you get. It's totally far away from where I live, but I will definitely make a point to go here again!

So far I've tried a kabab in a cup and a kabab in lahmacun wrap, both were delicious. I'm very happy as a Rogers Park resident to have this awesome spot right in walking distance. The food is good, the service is and good and friendly. And the place is clean every time I go in there.

I like Sp Kebab. It's a great option when you consider the oversaturation of Gyro/Hambuger joints in the area.I had the Lahmacun Chicken wrap which wasn't stellar but it wasn't bad either. To me while being good,it was just missing that little extra something. The sauce really didn't tie everything together like I would have hoped. That was the only thing keeping their fare from being good versus being great imo.The Cajun fries are awesome though.Their bursting with flavor and heat.I absolutely loved them. The portions are huge also.SP Kebab is a great alternative to the standard American fast food fare.I'll be dining here again.

I took way too long to try this place! Agree with most of the other reviews in that one wrap will be more than enough; I couldn't stop eating it, even though I was stuffed! I got a #1 with Chicken and Falafel. The guy checked to make sure I wanted them both mixed in, which I thought was nice. Also added tzatziki and a medium level spicy sauce. The lahmacun is so tasty, I cannot wait to come back and try the pork and cajun fries!

This review will be a little on the long side, so if you just want a quick word of recommendation, it's GO THERE NOW.

I went to Poland a few years ago to watch a cousin get married.  They introduced me to kebabs, and when I got back to the states, I thought my joy for this wonderful street food was gone forever.

Tonight on the way to see a movie, we passed by this place and curiosity got to me.  Would it fulfill the hole left in my life by the lack of kebab?  Did I even want to re-awaken those old passions?!

After the movie, we stopped in.  For the uninitiated, a proper Kebab sandwich (or do we just call it a kebab?  I feel out of touch with the Kebab scene) is housed in a flat bread that isn't quite a tortilla and isn't quite pita.  It had a name, but I've already forgotten it.  The meat, pork or chicken, is slow cooked on a spit and is seasoned to perfection.  It's NOT the in-your-face saltiness of a gyro.  The salad has a taste of herbs and tartness- I guess lemon.  Then there is the sauce.

The sauce deserves it's own paragraph.  It's tangy and subtle.  It sneaks up on you and instead of screaming "BOO!" it shakes your hand and says, "hey champ!  I'm the sauce!"  I would order just the sauce.  When you look at it, you'll think "that dummy... it's just yogurt sauce."  Don't worry, I already forgive you, because I know when you put it in your mouth you'll be converted.  It's like the lyrics to a song that you always had wrong, and when you finally hear how it's SUPPOSED to be, you say, "oh, that makes so much more sense."

Oh, did I mention it's FREAKING HEALTHY?!!!  Yep, it's pretty much protein and fiber.  I'm guessing the carb count in the bread is pretty low, and if you're concerned, they offer it just on a plate without the bread.

Please, if you love food, if you love your body, and think that your taste buds deserve a good time without your stomach having to take another one for the team, check this out.  It has the taste and feel of food that should be ten times worse for you, and the kebab-wich I had was $7.

I have to down grade my stars since my original review when SP Kebab opened.

I am compromising. I want to say 1 to 2 stars now because recently their meat is awful. Every single bite is a huge, non-edible piece of fat. I refuse to eat either their chicken or pork anymore.

But my original review was 4 stars, so I'll bring it down to 3 - the food item saving this place from 2 stars or lower is their freaking fantastic Cajun fries. Worth it. Worth it just to get the fries and nothing else. Get a sandwich or wrap filled with just the Cajun fries. It doesn't matter, you don't need anything else but their Cajun fries.

Actually the boyfriend got their regular fries on accident the other night and they were really really good too. They are really crispy, salty and well breaded, if you will. They just do fries really really well here.

Speaking of my boyfriend, he doesn't seem to have a problem with their meat (but he is sort of an all-consuming monster) and eats here probably once a week.

Peter (the owner and chef) does an absolutely superb job! The food is always healthy, fresh, flavourful, filling, and undoubtedly presentable! I have never had a "bad" experience eating at his restaurant and make it a point to do so regularly. I always take the time to introduce friends (who have become fans as well). :)

    Totally smitten.

I ran in here while waiting for a take-out order from another restaurant (can we say food hoarder?) because I had wanted to try these "superb European-style kebabs" for so long. Extra determined, stomach space was not one of my concerns. After all, I still had 2-3 more meals to eat after 5pm, right?

First off, the service is fantastic. I walked up to the counter and immediately, one of the guys working apologized to me for not noticing me when I walked through the door. He asked me how I had heard about them and really took pride in his product. Watching him put together my wrap with such pizzazz was really fun. We also became spicy sauce buddies.

Second, you have some selections to make, but not too many that it becomes overwhelming. There are only 2 meats - chicken and pork. (Also, falafels for you Vs). Then, you narrow it down to - lahmacun wrap, bread, cup (meat in a cup!), plate, with different combinations for each option. You can have it with meat, salad, sauce, or fries, too. Easy peasy.

Clearly, I had to order the lahmacun wrap because it sounded so foreign and exciting to me! The wrap was warmed up, the chicken was shaved off the spit, lettuce, tomato, green peppers, cucumber, red onion, tzatziki, and spicy sauce were added. My wrap-crafter made sure to double-check that I wanted it spicy, then threw me this knowing smile because clearly, spicy is awesome. Wrapped up all beautifully for me to take home and devour later, this hefty wrap puts Chipotle burritos to shame. It is a lot of fresh and delicious food, and only set me back $6. Super tasty, super satisfying... even J tasted it after his dinner and said "I would totally eat that again"!

I'll be back to dine in. I already know my order: lahmacun wrap with pork AND fries. Spicy, of course. ;)

The boo-thang and I stopped in yesterday and LOVED our food.  We got the chicken wrap and seasoned fries.  It was our 1st time there and didn't know what to put on our wrap so the owner, who is SUPER NICE, said he would hook us up.  So I left it to him to prepare our food and it was yummy-licious!  We got salad and all 3 types of sauce put on our wrap and I'm glad we did and each sauce added it's own unique flavor.  The seasoning on the fries was good as well, but the wrap is what took center stage.  Our wrap was big enough that we were able to cut in half and share but my fiance ate his so fast he was still looking around our plate for scraps.  He'll def get his own next time.

I suggest you check it out.  I'm a southsider and whenever I'm back in the neighborhood I'll def be stopping in for a shawarma fix!

Have now been here several times since my initial visit and I've only grown to enjoy this place more and try to tell as many people as I know in the area about it. Since gorging on the lahmacuns the first couple times I was in, I now stick to the lower-carb plates. I usually get the chicken which is moist, seasoned well, and cooked on a spit. It's served with a small salad and fries. Pro tip: ask for a little hot sauce on the chicken.

Portions continue to be huge, the owner just as friendly, and the prices are totally reasonable. It's places like this that continue to make Rogers Park a great place to live...and now eat :)

Whoa, where did this place come from??  Perhaps if the RP had more places like this, I might have been sadder about moving out of the neighborhood a few months ago.

I found this joint with the Yelp app when I had a particular craving for a kebab sandwich.  Upon delivery of my food, my first impression was "Wow!" (at seeing the enormous wrap taking up the entire oblong plate).  My second impression was "Mmm!!!" (at taking a bite of said wrap).

Bottom line, this stuff is fantastic.  The meats are marinated and prepared to perfection.  And, just as importantly, the other ingredients shine as well.  When the menu states that the wraps come with "salad" inside, they don't mean cheap pre-shredded lettuce.  They mean lovely greens, crisp cabbage and cucumbers, bright green peppers, sharp red onions, and healthy tomatoes.  No shortcuts here, just good stuff.

And their fries are awesome too.  Cooked fresh to order, crunchy outside and mealy inside; close to t he perfect french fry.  The cajun variety is nice and spicy but not too hot.

You can't go wrong with the falafel or the chicken (my first love), but I found the pork a bit bland.  On that one, you probably ought to take up the counter guy on his offer of hot sauce.

Whenever I have a serious appetite, this is the place I come.  The portions here are humongous.

I usually go for the chicken lahmacun wrap and love the fresh ingredients.  If you like it spicy get it with the hot sauce.  Also was pleased to find that everything is made in house from the salads to the bread and wraps.  Definitely a welcome change from prepacked bread and frozen buns.

Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

OH MAN, so good! My husband and I both got the #1, kebab in lahmacun wrap, and we were totally delighted with the utter deliciousness. The owner is super nice, and he made the kebabs beautifully. The wrap was great, a little chewy and fresh, the vegetables were kick ass fresh, and the sauces were terrific. He also gave us a sample of the falafel and it too was fantastic -- I'll be going back in a few days for that.

Plus, it's such a deal! The two of us had enormous dinners for $12 total. What the what?

We the good people of Edgewater and Rogers Park must make sure this place flourishes, tell your friends!

I got lahmacun with pork and fries (number 2 on the menu: $6.49), and a bottled water ($0.99), for a little more than $8.00 after tax -- and it was more food than I'd eaten in the last two days. The portions are immense, and I was fairly surprised at the value for money. I mean, this is Chicago, after all. Eating out usually makes my wallet scream in protest, but not this time!

Now the food: you probably shouldn't get the lahmacun with fries. They put the fries inside the wrap, which makes for a mushy texture and starchy flavor. I removed the fries, and things improved greatly. The meat is mildly spicy, and the sauce is delicious (although the fries absorbed most of it, there was still enough flavor left over to taste it). My overall impression is that it was very good, and very satisfying, but I imagine it would be even better without the fries. My reckoning is that the texture would improve, and the sauce's flavor would be more apparent.

My verdict is that the owners aren't lying: they're serving an authentic, European kebab experience. I will be back many times.

Just had this and WOW.  Amazing.  So much food my stomach feels like it's going to explode.

I got the #11 -- the plate with fries (cajun style of course -- which just means they dump a lot of delicious spices on top of your fries).

At first it just looked like a plate with tons a fries and some meat.  Maybe 2/3 fries, 1/3 meat.  No, not at all.  Very deceiving.  There was SO. MUCH. FOOD.  I ate a good serving size and it still looked like I hadn't touched my plate.  And only $7!  I got a to-go box -- a normal, medium sized to-go box, and the food barely fit.

The pork was juicy and had a great spice to it.  And the fries, not uber awesome, but still very good.  My friend had one of the kebab in bread -- which is a really good sesame seed bread.

The owner is really nice and VERY passionate about his food.  He went through and told us all how his wrap is more that *just* a wrap.  They use a different wheat, and some spices and tomatoes and make the torrilla wrap in house.  Absolute dedication.  Since we kind of confused him about what we wanted -- he ended up giving my friend with bread with fries instead of salad... and so he ended up giving us some free falafels too!

The inside is bright -- orange.  Which I love.  We've be talking about color theory in class recently and I believe orange is a really good color for this place.  And well, not sure if it was just that night or what, but the euro-rave music was sort of awesome.  It's not overwhelming, but fits.

Last time I was in this area, a couple years ago, this area was crap.  Complete crap -- newspaper up on all the windows and no one was in this area.  SO VERY GLAD this restaurant is here.  Generous servings for a good price!

Go here!  Have a delicious kebab food baby.  You won't be disappointed!
