Pad Thai with chicken and broccoli has FLAVOR! As u know, if you've read any of my other reviews, it's all about the "flavor". Â I have been here plenty of times, dining in, or taking it to go. Â The staff is great. They have been friendly on every occasion. Â The food portions are quite filling and pricing is very fair. Â Add some extra fresh chili to that Pad Thai and you are ready to go! Good stuff! I've been going here for a few years now. Â It has a warm, cozy atmosphere. Â They also offer outdoor seating when the weather permits. Â Parking lot in the back, so never a problem finding a spot! Great Place!
Review Source:I went to Splash for lunch and it was terrific. The food is fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. The restaurant has a warm atmosphere with comfortable seating. Â For lunch they offer several specials, but I opted for a meal off of the regular lunch menu.
We started off with spring rolls that had 5 rolls for the appetizer. They were crunchy and fresh. For a main dish I had the Pad See Ew with chicken. The sauce was sweet and mixed well with the noodles, egg and broccoli. The lunch also came with a salad that had a really unique ginger dressing. Of course, I had to enjoy a Thai iced tea with the meal.
I will definitely will return and look forward to having dinner at Splash.
I've been here twice for dinner but none of the dishes I tried were particularly memorable. Good food, just not memorable. Plus I could get cheaper Thai food elsewhere. I do like the wait staff here though. Not sure if I'll go here again but Val T's review isn't encouraging me to give this place another chance either.
Review Source:The place looks cozy and romantic at the outset, but dont be fooled by the dim lighting and soft music. The tables are placed too close for comfort, and the noise levels are just intrusive. We also had to sit around looking at the walls for about 10 minutes after being seated, before the waitress came around to take our orders. The quality and taste of the food doesnt not justify the prices. The pad thai with shrimp was good, but the red curry needed some seasoning. Give this place a miss, and drive around a little further to get better Thai in Clark or Edison.
Review Source:You might throw up after reading this. We were seated next to the opening of the kitchen and on the ledge they had about five jars of glass rice with lids on them. I quickly noticed that there was a black bug with wings in the black rice jar and pointer it out to my brother in law who was sitting closer to the jar. He then realizes that the rice had more than a dozen maggots! He then asks the chef if he serves the rice the customers and he says he just cooked it that morning. We told him it had maggots in it and so instead of throwing out the rice he had someone clean out the maggots. Yep they did that. Â We quickly walked out of the place and we were absolutely disgusted. Places that serve maggot rice should be closed down!
Review Source:This place has gone downhill. Just got takeout. The pastry on the curry puffs was underdone and the filling none too subtle. The stir fried boar used to be good. Today I got ordinary mushrooms, and lots of them, instead of the much higher priced shitake which were advertised, and a small amount of tough meat which I assume, but can't guarantee, was boar. $21. Â If you want better Thai food for less money go to Thai Cranford.
Review Source:I had heard good things about the restaurant in the past so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the special crab and mushroom soup which was delicious. Then I ordered the " Stir Fry Wild Boar" which was amazing! I ordered it as a level 3 spice which is was definitely pretty spicy because as I was eating it I was sweating. But it was worth every bite. It was not so spicy that it left your tongue burning. It was just spicy in general. My girlfriend Ann ordered the "Chicken Mussaman Curry" which was also delicious. She doesn't love things spicy so this was a perfect dish for her. The sauce was sweet and the avocado was a great addition to the dish.
Review Source:Second time I've been there and both times left  impressed.  I started with  the Spicy Squid Salad and it tasted great but another piece or two of squid would have better rounded out the dish.  On the other hand, I was "souping" the spicy sauce long after the salad and squid were gone.
My Pad Thai was also excellent but was lacking in spice. Â I don't like Thai Spicy but I didn't ask for it mild either. Â It also needed more shrimp. Â And, I've had larger portions at just about every other Thai place I've been to. Â Having said all that, there was something about this Pad Thai dish's taste that made up for the lack of spice. Â Perhaps it was the little bits of a well-done egg that gave it a special flavor and consistency.
I'm still giving this place 4 stars despite my portion comments. Â That Spicy Squid Salad was really great and the service was top-notch. Â Ask for Sue. Â She was great.
I went here on Thursday night and the place was fairly empty.
The service was extremely quick and the food was pretty good.
I ordered pepper chicken- which had a note saying spicy, my friend ordered Pad see-uw which was also good.
One note about the asterick* indicating spicyness.... I did not think it was remotely spicy. Sometimes I just want to say, just because I'm white doesn't mean I can't handle your spice....
Food- good
Service - good
Atmosphere - nice & clean
Price- cheap. None seafood entrees roughly $13
In the end, it wasn't the best/most memorable Thai I've had, so I'm downgrading-- but that wouldn't stop me from going back
My girlfriend and I stopped in last Friday night for dinner. The place was busy and noisy but we got a table right away. Â We had the Thai chicken satay for an appetizer which was really good. The chicken was flavorful and juicy. The peanut sauce it came with was decent. Â For dinner I order the BKK chicken. It was tasty but wished the sauce was thicker instead of watery. Overall was a decent place but if you are looking for a nice romantic and quiet place this is not for you. Â We couldn't hear each other when we tried to have a conversation. Â Also the service could have been more friendly.
Review Source:Some asian chicks from work wanted to hit up a new lunch spot, so of course they picked this place.
When we first entered I thought the owner was gonna tell us to put on our uniforms and get to the kitchen.
For $10, I got the appetizer sampler (spring rolls, chicken on a stick and crispy rice) and the grilled beef entree. Deeeeeeeeelish.
When the bill came, one of the asian girls busted out her calculator to figure out the tip.
Let's just say I won't eat with asians anymore.
I went on Monday at 8pm and it was a little busy. The atmosphere was great and the place just looked really nice. My family and I were sat in a corner and we ordered our drinks. Now after that we waited about a good 10 minutes before the waiter came back to us. Since we run a restaurant we understood that when it gets busy you are going to have to wait. We also realized there's only one waiter. We were patient and didn't mind it but we know it shouldn't be like this.
Now we ordered the Pad See Ew, Hot Pepper Chicken and Fried Rice. The food was good, however not spicy at all for Thai food. I went in expecting very spicy food, because I've never had bland Thai food. I was disappointed but I just asked for some chili and that added the much needed spice. The portion sizes were very generous and these three items were more than enough for the four of us.
Some of the food was a little pricey but nothing crazy. We left satisfied and had a great time. However next time I'm just going to stick with Thailand Restaurant in Clark, NJ.
Went here for Girls Night out over the weekend and I have to say I was VERY impressed. The staff was quick & very nice. You can bring your own bottle of wine (we know that for next time) and the prices weren't bad at all (they could have been really high due to the Town we were in). I had the flat noodles with veggies and seafood ( O M G, too delicious) and the mussels for the appetizer were to die for! I would actually get the same appetizer again!
Overall, great experience and it was nice to find a new Thai spot not to far.
My friend wanted the drunken noodles from Splash of Thai, I liked the sound of the dish, so I agreed to try the restaurant.
I got a hot tea, forgetting that Asian restaurants in the U.S. outside of a Chinatown usually charge for teas (a small pot for $3). For starters we shared the crabmeat pancake. It was just one piece and not large, but it tasted great though. The texture was like a crabcake, and the taro flavor was faint but there. The peach sauce was a perfect compliment as was the mango salsa.
My friend ordered the drunken noodles and I ordered the Splash Thai fried rice. I had a taste of the noodles and it was pretty spicy but tasty (she ordered medium spicy). My fried rice was good, though it did not have any particular strong taste. The texture of the rice was a bit sticky than usual fried rice dishes. The seafood in the dish was all cooked well, but it didn't wow me.
We had also pre-ordered the chocolate souffle. I'm biased because I love chocolate souffles, I can't say that it's the best I've had, but it was rather good.
Picked up a  take out dinner. Bill came to about $60. When I unpacked wow was I disappointed.
My crispy salmon was so small for the money they charge i would be embarrased to serve it. The Beef done Bankok style was tough and liver tasting. Soups too sour. On and on. I really recommend the Thai restaurant in Clark. It was closed on Monday so I went to Westfield. Big mistake!! Next time I'll wait for my Thai fix and grab a pizza instead.
Nice fish tank though!! Guess now I know how they afford it!!
This is our favorite Thai restaurant in the area. Â Food always tastes fresh. Â A little pricey but we've been there many times and have never had a bad meal. Â Although their spicy dishes tend to be a little inconsistent with how hot they are. Â Also wouldn't mind if they added a small kids menu for smaller kids who don't eat Thai food. Â I recommend this restaurant and we continue to go back.
Review Source:My wife and I kicked around a few options for dinner and settled on this charming little thai place. Â The decor is nice, though not exactly polished - better than what you'd expect for a strip mall in NJ. Meh.
I love dim sum, and had high hopes for the appetizer. It was disappointing: sloppy, doughy, fell apart at the slightest touch and very salty. For some unknown reason the dipping sauce was worcestershire sauce mixed with ginger. Pretty screwy combination. I chalked it up to a silly chef, or a mistake. No biggie, right?
Like most people of  certain age I enjoy conversation, and like to have a good time. I mention this because even though the restaurant was half full it was the loudest place I have been outside of a rock show.  That is no exaggeration. You had to shout to be heard over the other people shouting to be heard - like an arms race of loud jerks.
While 50 people gleefully shouted about stupid bs our entree arrived: Mussaman Curry. My wife got the chicken, I got the bean curd. So they serve this stuff in a satellite dish shaped bowl which I don't mind - I guess they have to justify the rediculous prices at this place somehow. The curry was ok. The kitchen must use salt to purify the sauce because this stuff was brutal. The bean curd was good but the vegetables were pretty nasty - obviously not fresh and slimey.
I see these awesome reviews and I wish I went that day - I was really disappointed. The service was really good, the busboy was quick with the water, good thing too I could have died of thirst from the salt. Left a decent tip, the service is the only reason I'd come back.
A friend and I headed to Splash of Thai for a late dinner Thursday. It has great hours (open til 10) for a small Westfield restaurant, a wonderful ambiance, and the staff was polite. Our orders came quickly and were delicious. I had the ew see something with chicken and the sauce was sweet and tangy. The prices are pretty high for thai food, but well worth it. The servings are generous and everything tastes yummy.
Review Source:One of our favorite restaurants in the area. Â The menu is different, not a typical thai restaurant. Â I have been here several times and never had a dish that I was not thrilled with. Â The crap pancake app, grilled seabass, pad thai - all excellent. Â I like that the kitchen is open to see them at work, including the little old lady making the dishes. Â BYOB which is great as well. Â Highly recommend.
Review Source:We really wanted to go to Thailand Restaurant next to Barnes and Nobles because of it's amazing reviews but it was closed on Monday! Yikes! Craving Thai, we asked Barnes and Nobles chick and she recommended this place. Right across from the Westfield train station in quaint Westfield, this place really would get 5 stars but because I've only been once, I don't want to over exaggerate. It was 4:40PM and they opened at 5:00PM. But they let us come in early and sit and order our food. How nice! The decor impeccable the service was superb. We had pad thai, drunken noodles, the house salad and mushroom soup! It was phenomenal! Yummy and very authentic with a beautiful presentation. The thai tea was perfect and not too sweet or creamy. Â
I would definitely come again. It is pricey but so worth it!
I like this place, but it is slightly overpriced and not always genuine thai food. I've gone a few times and almost always ordered the grilled scallops, which come with this delicious sticky rice and grilled vegetables. The food is always delicious, but sometimes a little more expensive than I think it should be. The place is beautiful, fancier than most thai restaurants. The service is good. It's a good place to go for a nice date or celebration dinner, but if I wanted more homey genuine thai place, I would go to Thai Restaurant on Central Ave. in Clark.
Review Source:Um, yum! I've been wanting to check out the restaurant scene in Westfield so when a friend suggested it for dinner on fri night, I was psyched.
The ambiance is decent...cute, nothing crazy. The food - def the best part! We got dim sum which was amazing. Something about the mingling of the flavors hit my palate just right. There was a hint of tartness that lingered for just the right amount of time.
For our main courses we got the Lychee Duck and the Grilled Salmon. I'm not usually a big fan of breaded things or duck, but the Lychee reeled me in and I'm glad it did! The penang curry was scintillitating with just the right amount of sweet and spice. The duck was succulent without being gamey...yum! The salmon was juicy..cooked just the way I like it. Generally, I'm not a big fan of sauces, but the glaze they used added just enough flavor without overpowering the fish. The sticky rice was just sticky enough!
Service - The service was decent. We were there for four hours on a friday night and they didn't rush us (they didn't have a line so I didn't feel so bad about tying up the table). Â The only thing I didn't like was that they brought out the entrees even though our appetizer wasn't done and then they just got cold..boo...but it was still delish!
*Added bonus - it's BYOB! Perfect for a date, catching up with a friend, or a girl's night out. I'll def be back!
I have eaten dinner here several times, and while some of the dishes are good, others miss the mark. The dressing on the Crispy Duck Salad ($9) was cloyingly sweet .The fried spring rolls were bland, and the sweet peach dipping sauce tasted more like takeout Chinese restaurant duck sauce ($7). The Tom Ka Gai soup was a large bowl ($5), but it lacked complexity. It tasted like plain coconut milk with a little lime juice added. At the very least, it needed more galangal, a little fish sauce, and a dash of chili oil to kick it up. The chicken in the Pad See Ew was dry, but the sauce was agreeable ($12).
On the plus side, the Pad Thai was done very well ($13), and the Lychee Duck Siam was delicious and nicely presented ($18). The duck was crispy on the outside, moist and slightly pink on the inside. The panang curry sauce had just the right amount of heat without being overpowering. The sticky black rice side steamed with coconut milk in banana leaf was very good ($2).
Service is efficient, but very stilted. The staff rarely crack a smile, but they kept our water glasses filled.
This is far from the best Thai food in the area, but the location is convenient, so I would eat here again. Prices are moderate for dinner, and inexpensive for lunch, at nothing over $10 a plate.
Overall the food was pretty average for Thai...However certainly not worth the price. No way should pad thai be about 15 bucks. or green curry almost 20. I've eaten at more thai places than i can count, and no matter how great the food is, i've never spent that much on pad thai...Listen, i watch my wallet, but if you dont, then this is great spot if you like a nice ambiance, and good thai....i'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I give 3 stars for price, and 4 stars for food.
