The quintessential goyische deli, in business at this same Westfield location for 80 years, and it looks it. it has slipped over the line between down-home and just plain run down.
The prepared food in the refrigerated counter case is sad and unappealing. If you are craving a fried egg on a roll on Sunday morning, they can probably manage it, but beware of the coffee.
I reluctantly stopped here for lunch today, only because my friend wanted to. I got the soup of the day, vegetable beef. I've had better soup out of a red & white can. It was watery, with an oily film on top, and all the stuff in it was cooked to death. I ordered it to eat there, but instead of a bowl, the server ladled it into a plastic takeout container, put a lid on it, then nuked it in the microwave. Is that even safe? Ugh.
