Went out for dinner on Elm St. in Westfield at 6:30 on a cold Saturday night. The Brick Oven and Ferraro's were packed, so we walked over to Jeffrey's. Let me reiterate that the cocktails, beer, and wine here are great. The food is another story.
I had the sesame salmon and the buffalo blue cheese fries, and my wife had stuffed potato skins and the gorgonzola ribeye steak.
I should not have ordered those fries, because I woke up eight hours later with SEVERE indigestion. I normally have a cast-iron stomach, but this was awful.
While my other dish was OK, my wife's potato skins were dried out, almost burnt, and the steak was hidden under an unappealing, translucent layer of melted cheese. The meat was cooked to order, but there was lots of gristle throughout, and the onion rings on the side were so greasy that the breading was falling off.
The tab for two apps, two entrees, two glasses of wine, and one beer was over $100, plus tip.
As I said before, a nice place for a drink, but the food is not really worth it.
strong drinks. bean and spinach dip was tasty, but barely enough for two. meatloaf and mashed potatoes were good, tho the gravy wasn't to my liking (and was quite salty). chicken pot pie was great. good size portions and homestyle cooking. attentive bartenders. Â good ambience and attractive interior design.
