We went to Mead Street on a quest for a new place to eat.  After asking for a recommendation from the waitress on her favorite thing to order she brought out the pulled pork sandwich.  ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY!!!  I was actually sad when I ate the last bite.  I will go back again and again for the great food and outstanding customer service!  Thank you!

This is such a shame. I have been going to Mead Street for over 10 years. Solid place before it changed hands a few years ago. You could count on consistency and a lovely staff that always greeted you when you walked in, sometimes, even knowing your name. Now... the food isn't good, the staff is not friendly, and I have tried several times, because I so desperately wanted to LIKE it after it changed hands. To no avail. The bartenders stand around a lot, you have to walk up to pay sometimes because the waitstaff is not paying attention. Such a bummer. We use to spend a lot of time at Mead Street. I won't go back.  I am a sad that Highland has changed so much....

I hadn't been back to Mead St. in years but yesterday I walked over with my dog to meet some former co-workers and am so glad I did! What a pleasant way to spend the afternoon! Good food, attentive service and a really nice assortment of drinks. Plus, they were SO great to my dog. I've decided that I'm going to try and only do business with dog-friendly establishments. People who care about animals tend to also care about others in general. This was the case yesterday. We had a nice, shady spot they supplied plenty of cold water for the dog and everyone was happy. I had the portobella sandwich which was excellent and the side of orzo pasta salad was super fresh and delicious, too. I also had an Ace Pear Cider, which is not easy to find. They served it in a frosty pint which eliminated the need for me to order a cup of ice (that often happenes). My friends had fish and chips and a burger, respectively. Our server was very cool and everyone who passed by stopped to pet my dog. The server did tell us that Denver laws have been tightened yet again so that they have to tell customers to keep the dog behind the railing. It's just ridiculous. If dogs were really so unsanitary then all dog owners in America would be dead since we all cook and eat with our dogs. Human beings are actually the most bacteria-laden creatures, especially babies, yet we allow them in every restaurant in America. Anyway, we'll be back to Mead St. on this trip and in the future. Kudos from two-legged and four-legged fans.
