This bar isn't a separate business from the adjoining restaurant so I'm not sure this listing is appropriate, but I suppose I'll go ahead and review it.
This is the closest thing to an upscale bar in the University District. The bartenders are knowledgeable beyond what you'd expect for the area and the cocktail menu showcases that knowledge well. One of the best cocktails I've probably ever tried is featured on this menu, and for several dollars cheaper than you would find a similar cocktail down in the short north. Called the Rose Garden, it is a complex, yet well-balanced cocktail crafted by bar manager Chris Spinato, one of the better and under-appreciated drinkslingers in town. The espresso martini is another that stands above similar counterparts. It's got a much stronger coffee flavor than your typical espresso martini.
When I want to go somewhere a little more refined without heading too far from home or work, this is where I go. The bar is devoid of the typical bar patron you would find in the area, and the drinks are on par with what I'd find down south. Oh, AND there's parking.
This review is dedicated to my cousin, thanks for the introduction.
Taj has a good selection IPA's and other bar drinks, a wicked $1 shot special and over all a night place to bring in my New Year. Â Trivia is a good kick with some neat prizes but hands down the draw is karaoke on Friday's. Â I've got nothing but love for smelling like curry while belting out a drunkin rendition of Baby's Got Back
