  This bar isn't a separate business from the adjoining restaurant so I'm not sure this listing is appropriate, but I suppose I'll go ahead and review it.
  
  This is the closest thing to an upscale bar in the University District. The bartenders are knowledgeable beyond what you'd expect for the area and the cocktail menu showcases that knowledge well. One of the best cocktails I've probably ever tried is featured on this menu, and for several dollars cheaper than you would find a similar cocktail down in the short north. Called the Rose Garden, it is a complex, yet well-balanced cocktail crafted by bar manager Chris Spinato, one of the better and under-appreciated drinkslingers in town. The espresso martini is another that stands above similar counterparts. It's got a much stronger coffee flavor than your typical espresso martini.
  
  When I want to go somewhere a little more refined without heading too far from home or work, this is where I go. The bar is devoid of the typical bar patron you would find in the area, and the drinks are on par with what I'd find down south. Oh, AND there's parking.

  This review is dedicated to my cousin, thanks for the introduction.
  Taj has a good selection IPA's and other bar drinks, a wicked $1 shot special and over all a night place to bring in my New Year.  Trivia is a good kick with some neat prizes but hands down the draw is karaoke on Friday's.  I've got nothing but love for smelling like curry while belting out a drunkin rendition of Baby's Got Back

  Love this place! Inexpensive drinks but a good selection, nice atmosphere, and there is a lounge area as well if you don't want to sit right at the bar.

  A great place as an alternative to campus stereotypes.  You can get food from the "Mahal" next door until 9/9:30pm. Taj Bar & Lounge is directly connected to the Taj Mahal restaurant.
  
  Surprisingly well crafted classic cocktails as well as homemade bitters and infusions, along with decently priced typical bar indulgences.
  With a bar on the lower level with 2 flat screen TVs, you have but to take it upstairs, settle in on a comfy couch and watch open mic, karaoke and even trivia.
  Fun people with kind of a pseudo-hipster vibe.
  I hear there are Mad Men watch parties!
