Dined in at this small Mexican spot off Clark street. Â Started with chips and two kinds of salsa that come with every meal. Â Just a standard red salsa and a green verde with chips. Â I would give them a 3/5 for chips and salsa.
I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was loaded with flavor. Â The chicken was juicy and marinated and dripping out with great tasting cheese. Â 4.5/5 on this meal.
I also ordered 3 $1 dollar tacos which was a fantastic deal! Chicken, steak, and ground beef that came with onions and cilantro. Â They were a 4.5/5 and a wonder value.
Very pleased overall with this place and will certainly be back.
I ordered on a Saturday night, two ground beef tacos and one chicken taco along with a chicken burrito. It was AMAzING. By far the best Mexican in Rogers Park that I have tried. I have been very disappointed with others in the area, so I decided to Yelpmgood Mexican food in the area and this place popped up. I will be back for sure, ths is my he spot!
Review Source:Called to make sure they had the sopas de menudo. Â She said yes but there were only two left, so I requested that she back both for me. Â It was good although a bit greasy for me. Â I put it in the fridge for a few hours so the grease would coagulate and then eliminated the layer of fat. Â Reheated the sopas and it was divine. Â Takes the chill off and cures colds (and hangovers, I am told)
Review Source:Surprise - surprise: today's huarache (we chose with pastor) was done with black beans in the masa! (Initially I only noticed the taste and texture was different but I wrote it off that it was long since we had ordered).
Don't suppose they've been reading my original post?
Either way - I guess this is more traditional - I think a combination of red and green salsas on it, topped with queso fresco (?) and onions maybe if I remember.
Another surprise - I usually never order the pollo taco anywhere with the expectation that it will be dry - but I figured worth trying something different for their $1 taco. Turns out, juicy, pulled in way so that the meat was fluffy rather than chunky - yeah hard to describe, and not skimping on the filling either. Great tortillas as usual (can they really be handmade for $1?)
I've tried many of the small mexican joints along north clark and this place had the best Pastor Tacos. Â For $1 you can get a small taco that is loaded with alot of meat, a great value. Â The taste was great. Â Azada and Pollo were also very good. Â Definately get the Pastor though. Â The salsa verde is perfect, enough heat but you can still taste the tomatillos. Â I will be going back.
Review Source:This place is definitely my favorite taqueria in the neighborhood. You get an amazing amount of food for the money ($4.50 burritos the size of your head!) and it tastes great.
The Nachos and the Cheese Melt burrito are great - the sauce is perfectly spicy/cheesy. The free homemade tortillas and salsa are very good and of course you can't beat the $1 tacos! It's BYOB and the server is really friendly.
