We went here with a large crowd. They don't take reservations, and they don't seat large parties until EVERY person in the party has arrived. There was an area with tables that could be pushed together, but for some reason they refused to seat us there. So we were seated in booths that were next to each other. The food is always good here, and I love the ribs. The fresh baked rolls are excellent.
Review Source:I wasnt really sure what to expect, was in the mood for a steak so decided to stop in for dinner. Noticed they offered fried pickles for an appetizer which I usually love, the ones they serve however were pretty aweful! Besides the pickles being salty the batter was incredibly salty also and our pickles sat in a pool of oil so we didn't make it through all of them. For my entree I orderd a strip steak which  suprised me by being a little touch and a little overcooked for my taste since I ordered medium rare. I also ordered the additional sauteed mushrooms and onions which were smothered on my steak and were a little overwhelming. Whomever was cooking that night went salt crazy because they were extremely seasoned and salty as well, which ended up overpowering the flavor of the steak. At the end of my meal I also noticed a piece of paper under my steak and when I asked my server about that she replied that it was probably just the order ticket that got stuck to the steak as if it were a normal occurance. (yuk!) Although the price for a steak meal was fairly reasonable, I wish we would have gone down the street to Outback, sorry Texas Roadhouse.
Review Source:I will put out a disclaimer that I am a vegetarian who should not be eating at a steakhouse in general, but this is my opinion of it, and I have liked other steakhouses. I am also skeptical of chain restaurants in general, but I have definitely had good experiences at some. This was one of my worst experiences at a restaurant ever.
A close (meat-loving) friend wanted to have a celebratory dinner here, so being the good friend that I am I reluctantly tagged along. Only to discover that the vegetarian options are even worse than I am used to. I was told that the loaded, baked sweet potato was fantastic, so I ordered that and planned to eat something else later.
The sweet potato, the one thing I was hoping would make the place not horrible, was one of the worst sweet potatoes I have had. I love sweet potatoes and eat them all the time at home. But this one was stringy, either old or overcooked or both, and the "loaded" was not actually very loaded with much to take away the taste.
Country music blared constantly, it was very loud, the decor was all country-cowboy-esque and hideous, and I begged my friends to leave as soon as possible. I don't care what is being celebrated, I am not going back. So you might like this type of place, I don't know... but me? I hated it. I am sticking to Ponderosa and Fogo de Chao for my steakhouse experiences with friends.
Ready for 2000+ calories of fun? Â Well you've come to the right place! Â Texas Roadhouse starts you off with rolls that are 227 calories a piece; you should get a prize if you can resist eating under four before your real meal comes because these things are just soft, fluffy piles of sugary dough glistening with just the right touch of oil on the outside--irresistible. Â Oh, did I mention that it comes with cinnamon butter too (not factored into the calorie count)? Â If you get an appetizer, be prepared to be stuffed by the time the Texas-sized main entree makes its way to your table. Since I'm a quick eater, I down about 1000 calories before my salad comes and then down about 1000 more during the salad and bread-eating phase. Â Almost all their dinners come with a house salad, so be prepared to EAT EAT EAT!
With that being said, Texas Roadhouse is absolutely DELICIOUS. Â Their warm rolls are to die for (and you just might by age 40 at this rate). Â Their famous appetizer, the cactus blossom, is just a fried onion with layers shed off around it in a blooming flower shape that surrounds the bigger pieces that are bunched together to make up the "cactus" in the middle. Â Why do they do this? Â First, because it looks pretty cool the first time. Â Secondly, it maximizes the surface area for maximum breading and grease. Â I mean seriously, they even give you some special sauce for this in case the grease and salt aren't overwhelming enough. Â Like I said, that doesn't mean it doesn't taste wonderful.
Let me just say I used to come to Texas Roadhouse every week, and it was certainly a food adventure I looked forward to. Â Unfortunately, that was before I learned the health hazards of eating at a supersized place such as this one. Â We blame the obesity epidemic on fast food and a variety of other junk (donuts, etc.), but family restaurants like Texas Roadhouse somehow don't get the same kind of negative health press that a McDonald's gets, despite being WORSE for you than a Big Mac combo meal with an apple pie on the side. Â Thus, the obesity epidemic isn't REALLY coming from any one particular type of food or restaurant but from ignorance. Â Blissful ignorance, but ignorance nonetheless. Â There's a reason Texas Roadhouse and chains like it will fight the movements to put calorie counts on all their items. Â Can you really justify eating something that has a few day's worth of saturated fat and sodium? Â Many people can't, and that's why this review is so low.
If you're just going for taste and value, and you're not really concerned about calories or health (at least for a night), then Texas Roadhouse is the place for you. Â The food here is wonderfully priced, delicious, and they give you free rolls and peanuts to begin your meal. Â You will never leave Texas Roadhouse unsatisfied or craving more food. Â The steak is pretty decent, but they have a lot of other good Southern food too like country fried chicken or steak and the like.
However, for health reasons and the rise of the obesity epidemic, I cannot in good conscience give Texas Roadhouse an amazing review for the same reason I'll tip a pregnant woman $40 on a $20 bill--because I care about people and their well-being. Â My review isn't an indictment of Texas Roadhouse's quality of food. Â Its purpose is to educate and give pause to those who are on the fence about eating here. Â
If you do eat here, I'd recommend capping yourself at 2 rolls, a salad, and immediately putting half of your main meal into a to-go box. Â You'll feel better about it in the morning. Â :)
Best dinner on the road for the last 3 weeks going through 8 states from California. Â Excellent 6 oz sirloin for only $10--cooked exactly to the specifications. Hubbie is very picky about ribs and Loved these. Excellent broccoli and califlower in the fresh veggie cooked sides. It's been hard to find cooked fresh veggies done correctly in Midwest restaurants. Â But the best ever were the fresh hot dinner ROLLS. Â My husband loved the butter with them but they were so outstanding I ate them without. We usually don't eat the bread offered before the meal but we couldn't resist! Good margarita! Â Very attentive and friendly personnel. Â Definitely better than the outback. Trip advisor would not let me review this specific roadhouse, so I'm glad that yelp did.
Review Source:i'm not sure how you can be called "texas roadhouse" when you are from a town in Indiana. Â small gripe, i know i know.
the food is decent, my steak was alright (even though they were out of prime rib!). Â my big gripe is the customer service honestly. Â we went about 2 pm on Sunday and there was about 10 tables sat in the restaurant. Â Even with the multitude of empty tables, the host tries to sit us at the one table with a FULL bus tub sitting on one of the seats. Â Umm... Â =( Â The waitress was friendly, kind of missing when it was time for the bill, and when we were leaving, even with 5 people standing at the hostess stand talking, there was no "thank you" or "have a nice day" or any acknowledgement at all. Â Hmmm...
the rolls are great, but honestly the staff needs some work.
I really wish I could tell you how delicious the food is, but I feel as if I always fill up on the rolls at Texas Roadhouse. Â
Ok, to put my love for these rolls in to perspective: Â I ate about 10 of them on Thanksgiving Day this year as my mother surprised my wife an I with 2 dozen of them. Â I seriously love these rolls...just not the ones on my body they cause.
Rolls aside, the food is very good. Â On this occasion I had the pork chops. Â They were perfectly cooked and accompanied by an excellent sweet potato with brown sugar and marshmallows. Â
Our service was friendly and timely, a pleasant surprise as were wore New Orleans Saints gear in an Indianapolis restaurant. Â Sure we took a few jabs, but everyone was very nice (maybe a little bitter over last year's Superbowl). Â
Overall, a great experience.
My preference when going to a steak house is a private restaurant versus a corporate chain however, sometimes that can be hard to do when you're traveling or pressed for time. Â In that situation, Texas Roadhouse is a passable substitute.
You're not likely to walk out of the place marveling at the quality of their meat (unless this is the only steakhouse you frequent) but the food is tasty, plentiful and definitely easy on your budget. Â
The restaurant on Michigan Road on Indianapolis's northwest side is a good choice. Â I've eaten there a couple dozen times over the past few years when I traveled there on business regularly. Â It is also handy to a number of motels so if you need to spend the night in Indy, convenience is something to remember.
I found the service to be generally decent with a bad apple here and there over the years. Â I suspect this is better than average when it comes to the corporate chain restaurants.
I came here for some steak craving. I will agree with one reviewer, the steak I ordered was slightly overdone but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I ordered the rattlesnake bites and the Ft. Worth Ribeye with the green bean and sweet potato for sides. I thought the rattlesnake bites were like little hard jalapeno poppers. The steak was slightly overcooked but it was still juicy and tender. As for the green beans, they were not to my liking, nasty! I did like the sweet potato, I didn't get the butter or brown sugar on it so it was just plain but still pretty sweet. Oh! A must get drink is the Sweet Iced Tea! I love Sweet Ice Tea!
Prices are very reasonable and they have a special right now if you go before 6pm, they have like 10-12 items for $7 with two sides! Pretty good deal in my opinion.
I am shocked by how excited the previous Yelper is about a mediocre, incredibly boring chain. I guess everyone has different experiences.
When you live in Chain USA, you don't have a lot of options. Â I went here to seize my craving for cheese fries only to be VERY disappointed. Â On top of that, my MILD wings made my mouth burn and my eyes water. Â Maybe I'm a wuss, but NOTHING I've had here has ever been very good.
Yes, they display all their meats but it doesn't mean they know how to cook them. Â I do not understand the obsession with the peanuts either. Â Who knows how many hands have been in that bucket before yours! Â YUCK.
Also our waiter/bartender was incredibly distracted, not very nice and I hate the fact that he was wearing a t-shirt that proclaimed "I Love My JOB!" on it. Â What a load of shit! Â No one loves it that much and one should not be forced to wear it. Â It makes it much less true especially when he seems as far from "in love" as one human can be!
Overall - Nasty. Â Will not go back. Â If I could blow up every other chain restaurant in this city, there would still be too many!
