The daily specials are always good

Five stars from the beginning to end of my experience today. They took our call ahead reservation for their waiting list on a busy Saturday morning. Big plus!  The host was super friendly and helpful, especially when we told him we were gonna step out and check out a few shops while waiting. The person who sat us was also friendly and took his time with us making us feel welcome. Our server was really nice and described the 2 specials perfectly. I was so excited to hear about the tiramisu pancakes!  And they certainly did not disappoint!  The savory BLT scramble special that my husband ordered was decent, nothing as exciting as those pancakes. We did have to ask for them to cook a few bacon strips a bit more but our server was very nice about it and didn't try to make us feel bad about it at all. I was very pleased with all aspects of this restaurant. Definitely a must try!

Amazing little place! Service was speedy, my cup was never empty and the food was delicious! Call ahead to get on the wait list like we did, the wait time was over an hour. Walked in and we were seated immediately! Will definitely be back!

The coffee was mediocre but good. The wait was understandably long so being able to drink coffee while we waited made it bearable. Our table ordered a variety of plates and everyone loved what they got, and we didn't have to wait long for it. The chorizo omelet was awesome - not greasy or too spicy. The hash brown casserole it came with was cheesy and savory. So good.

I absolutely love toast. I love the atmosphere, the reasonably priced breakfast and lunch options, AND the fact that they do call ahead seating so that you don't have to wait for an hour to get a table. A word of advice, if you do plan on going to Toast for Saturday or Sunday brunch, make sure that you do call ahead because it is a very popular breakfast spot and there will be a wait.

Unlike many of its East Market peers that offer $12 to $20 breakfast items, Toast keeps its dishes under $10. I've tried several different options including the Drowned Eggs (which was a little bland for my tastes) and the Classic French Toast (make sure you order extra mixed berry sauce because they can be a little stingy with it). But my favorite breakfast dish on their menu is the Toast and Eggs. Sounds simple but it comes with this simultaneously sweet and spicy harissa hot sauce that is frickin' awesome. The hash brown casserole is delicious as well.

If you're a fan of bloody marys, I recommend ordering the jalapeno infused one over the classic which is a little lackluster in the spice department. Honestly though, If you have friends visiting from out of town, or just looking for a great breakfast or lunch spot, you really can't go wrong here.

Love at first sight and bite...
I hand our high-fives all the time, but it's rare I hand out 5 stars on a resti.   Here's why I did for Toast.   It's the trifecta of pleasing - amazing vittles, service the way it should be, and value (which is rare for a swank place of this ambiance and calibre)

Since I'm eating for two-even more reason to try a few different things! - I had to pox the idea of a Bloody Mary, which I rather enjoy with my Sunday brekkie.  Not to mention it was too early to even order alcohol.  Crazy midwest rules.   Us West-coasters tie it on when we wake up with our eggs and bacon.  Any day of the week.  Ordered decaf, which they brought in my own special pot that was the best decaf I've had.   A PINT of grapefruit juice that I found out later was a $2 pint of juice.  Holy what?! I'm coming back just for the cheap juice.  Just about every other place loves to charge roughly $6 for 3 oz of juice it seems.   Thank you Toast for having reasonable priced juice.  It's not like you had to go overseas for it, mine it, process it, etc...

We ordered the Bacon and Egg sandwich, the special of the day Bananas Foster French Toast (both with sides of hash brown) and a side of the lemon blueberry compote pancakes.   *WOW*   Everything was fantastic.   I never really wanted breakfast to end, actually.   The sandwich was lovely, with frise and a hint of the most tantalizing mustard. Not your standard bacon and egg sandwich by any means.  The Bananas Foster with butterscotch and sliced almonds - perfecto!  The pancakes equally scrumptious.  We had no trouble finishing every bite.   The hash brown is indeed like a warm potato salad, but I am a Polack and find warm potato salad a real treat, so this was a welcome surprise from the usual flattened hash brown pile.  Very, very tasty.

**Special shout out to our server Brandon who really made our experience.  Witty, charming and knows what customer service really is, another rare thing today in a restaurant. Ask for his "special VIP" section when you arrive.  You won't be sorry.

Thank you for keeping prices where they should be - not too low as to undermine the quality of the food, not to high to pass it by.   Our only regret is not having come to Toast sooner.   But we will now as there are several other menu items we're dying to try.

    10:35 we get to Toast

11am we opt to sit at the bar because there are no tables and no matter where you stand you are in the way.

11:40am we finally get our order

    11:41am we are disappointed.

The eggs are weird... like they whipped the ever-lovin-shit out of them.

The hash is like warm potato salad (VOMIT).

The bread pudding pancake was... dammit... delicious. And that's the ONLY reason they are getting 2 stars instead of 1.

Next time we hit the McD's drive thru. Better value. Better service. BETTER FOOD!

This place was bumpin' for Sunday brunch. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead to get on a wait list. We were seated in the patio/greenhouse area that had heaters and a little fireplace. I was worried it would be cold but it was completely comfortable.

I got the spicy chipotle grilled cheese with basil tomato soup and it was good.
I also ordered the Heath bar hot chocolate, which was totally made for me in mind! My husband liked his lemon blueberry souffle pancakes

I had to dock some stars because we waited a really, really long time for our food. We saw several tables get their food before us and in some cases finish. The server apologized and blamed it on a busy kitchen. Definitely understandable, but kind of odd that everyone else seemed to be getting their food at normal intervals.

I would still give this place another chance. I overheard another diner tell the waiter that her omelette was the best one she's ever had in her life!

Yikes! It was bad. Worst was the toast. With the name Toast, you think they could get that right. Service excellent. I returned my first choice of the chef special and they handled that exactly right.

This place is stunning. We were visiting my brother in Louisville and he recommended Toast based on his visit to the New Albany location. We were staying downtown so we ventured to that location. The dining room was beautiful: exposed brick, greenhouse style ceiling, and a little fireplace (perfect for the cold day).
I had a mimosa that was on the menu for Christmas, the Partridge in a Pear Tree, which had pear puree and ginger something or other with champagne. Yum. After that I had the Kentucky Mimosa which is essentially an Old Fashioned topped off with champagne. Also, yum. Others in our party had the special jalapeno infused bloody mary, which was very well received.
I had the Drowned Eggs, which I read about in another review, and I was not disappointed. It's two (perfectly) poached eggs swimming in a shallow bowl of tomato and cilantro broth with two slices of yummy sourdough on the side I'd recommend ordering double bread so you can sop up all that good broth. This dish looks small but it's satisfying... and a bargain at about $6.
Others at the table had a daily special, a scramble with fresh shrimp, avocado, and a key lime hollandaise, and loved it. One in the party would have preferred her scramble to be cooked longer. If you do not like creamy eggs, you might want to mention this.
The hubs had The King, peanut butter and banana stuffed French toast (WOW!). And the star of the table was the Manhattan, pot roast served over pancakes. Add over easy eggs to the top for a real treat.
Everything from the service to the value to the flavors was spectacular. And the coffee was good too.

Another great "yelp" find while driving through town.  Very good lemon souffle pancakes as noted in many reviews though not the best I've ever had.

Service was great on arrival but server disappeared at odd intervals.

Great breakfast place! The lemon soufflé pancakes are as good as advertised, and the bread pudding pancakes were just as awesome. The omelets were a little too fluffy, almost soufflé like. It's not for everyone.

The service was also excellent, this is just a solid breakfast choice!

This is a good place to grab brunch on the weekend. Be prepared to wait for a table, but it is worth it. This is more of an upscale brunch spot; I went to church a couple of blocks away, so it was a good place to go afterwards. Everything on the menu is good, you can't go wrong.

This is what breakfast/brunch should be. I had the South of the Border Omelet, which included chorizo sausage and white cheddar -- amazing -- but literally everything looked good. I menu shopped by looking on all the other tables as we were guided to our seats.

The atmosphere is intimate and classy, but casual. Great place for brunch!

Call and put your name in before heading over -- we did that and it saved us 15 minutes. Either way, the wait would be worth it for this place.

very very cool place with amazing food.

The best pancakes I've ever had. Wait on weekend was about 20minutes, so do not show up starving. The coffee was very good, and service was respectable considering how busy they were.

    Would definitely come back again.

I really enjoyed the ambiance of Toast on the Market. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. I had a Kentucky Mimosa and a Spicy Apple one which were both excellent and creative. I also had the Chipotle grilled cheese and tomato soup. The tomato soup tasted like spaghetti sauce. It was ok, but I like a bit more creativity in tomato soup. The grilled cheese was great, though. I would definitely go back to this place for lunch or breakfast. I went for breakfast and was really tempted by the Gingerbread pancakes, but I'm a sucker for grilled cheese!

Was expecting a lot more really. Ordered the BLT scramble with a pumpkin pancake. Both were just average at best. The scramble was overdone and the pancake which was about 4 inches in diameter was bland. The almond latte' was  very good but took 20 minutes to get it after I ordered. Our waitress had no clue what she was doing and was more worried about more people being seated in her section rather than the customers already seated there. Both my wife and I felt as if the overall vibe was as if the people working there were treating people like they were lucky to get overpriced and average fare?? First and last time there. North End Cafe blows this place away

Toast was an exceptional breakfast experience, starting with the extra foam on our coffee (served with pride by the bartender) to the closing "Can I get you some coffee to go?" The lemon souffle pancake with blueberry compote and lemon custard was exceptional. The breakfast egg special was nothing like egg specials I've had elsewhere, really moist and flavorful with fresh spinach. The hash brown casserole was cheesy, oniony goodness. Even the breakfast toast was wonderful, as it should have been, given the name of the establishment. Breakfast at Toast was an all-around exceptional experience, and I would eat here weekly if I still lived in the 'Ville.

The best pancakes I have ever feasted on. In fact, my entire breakfast was nothing short of a delectable treat.  I had a seemingly large hunger the day I visited Toast On Main.  I went with one of the larger breakfasts consisting of eggs, sausage, toast, pancakes and the tasty potatoes.  Sure, in comparison to many other breakfast places, the portion appeared small.  However, it was actually perfectly sized to satisfy not only my craving but put that sense of culinary accomplishment in my belly.  Well done!

Like I said, the pancakes were a highlight for me. Topped with blueberries and a sweet cream butter - nothing could have made it better.

Stylistically, the breakfast launched me back to a morning once spent in Paris.

I recommend you visit, then come back for more.  I know I will.

Went to Toast on Market for the first time this morning and I have a new favorite place for breakfast in Louisville, Ky.  First, we sat on a covered patio area that had a good mix between an inside and outside feel.  Our waiter was very friendly and answered all of our questions about the menu.

I got three pecan pancakes, eggs and sausage and the pancakes were as good as I ever had.  My wife, sister and daughter got omelettes and I hesitantly tried the one my wife got because I've never really been a big fan of them.  I can honestly say that I would order one next time I go there because it was so good.  Everything was great but the absolute best part of the meal was the hashbrown casserole.  There is no way to put how good it was into words, you just have to try it!

    I will be back!

My FAVORITE breakfast in town.  I always get Cliffie's plate which is eggs, toast, bacon, hashbrown casserole, and a pancake.  You can get fruit if you like as well.  The service is impeccable and they are the nicest people there.  Only downside is that it can be really loud in there.  Bad acoustics. The left side of the restaurant is much more quiet.

In our quest to try new restaurants as new Louisvill'ians we stumbled upon Toast on E. Market. WOW! What a great find! The servers are extremely nice! Our servers name was Brandon and he was wonderful and very charismatic! We went for lunch, I got the BLT with side of hashbrown  casserole. The Bacon was perfectly crispy like I like it and the basil aioli mayo added nice flavor. The HBC was delicious as all the reviews state, a must try for sure! My husband got the Spicy Chiotle grilled cheese and tomato soup, also delicious! We will definitely be returning many times!

Toast has always been a fav.

The staff seems to never change and they are super friendly.

I have ordered/tasted quite a few things from the menu and my favorites are the drowned eggs and the bread pudding pancakes for breakfast.  And you can't go wrong with any of the grilled cheese sandwiches + tomato soup for lunch.

Prices are decent and I always leave satisfied but never STUFFED (which is a good thing).

P.S.  If you love yourself you will also try the hashbrown casserole at least once....but not too many times because that stuff will probably kill you!

i've been away from Louisville for a few years, so I was excited to go back and explore NuLu. Toast was one of the restaurants I'd heard the most about, and I love breakfast/brunch foods, so I had no doubt I'd enjoy it.

My first impression was the decor of the place: I've never seen Louisville look so urban chic. We sat in the  front room with exposed stone walls and lots of natural light. I'm also a sucker for any restaurant that gives kids crayons and coloring book pages and displays those colored pages in the front next to the host's stand.

Food-wise, Toast was delicious, but not mind-blowing. I enjoyed the hash brown casserole, and I appreciated their creativity with the lemon souffle pancakes and peanut butter & banana sandwich, but both were too rich to enjoy for an entire meal. My bacon breakfast sandwich was nothing to write home about.

Maybe this is unfair, but overall, I got the impression that Toast thinks they're cooler than they are. They got all the breakfast trends down - brioche, chorizo, applewood bacon - but they have yet to take those flavors to the next level.

Had brunch their today. The peach-basil iced tea is delicious however that was about the only thing that our group liked. I had the chicken salad and it was mediocre. The giardinera in the salad didn't add anything. My husband had the south of the border omelette and neither of us cared for it. He got the fruit as his side seeing that it is summer and it was melon that hadn't ripened and mushy red grapes. Disappointment galore! Our friend got the garlic grilled cheese with bacon and avocado. The sandwich came soggy and hardly had any avocado on it although she was charged for it. Our service was sub-par. Our waitress did not pay attention to us. We waited about ten minutes for her to take our order after we received our drinks (which took an unreasonable amount of time seeing we were located next to their drink bar.

We would not go back. The only reason they got two stars is because I liked their iced tea.

Pot roast! Pancakes! Pot roast ON pancakes! OK, that sounds a little bit weird, and I'd post a picture, but it looks a little bit weird too. It's not weird. It might be one of the most delicious breakfasts I've ever eaten in my life. I'm slightly disappointed now when I go out for breakfast and don't find pot roast and pancakes on the menu, which of course I never do, because it's a little weird.

There are other things to recommend Toast on Market. Wife had the french toast stuffed with peanut butter and marscapone, which was surprisingly not as heavy as it sounds. Service was kind and attentive, and they even offered us a to-go cup of coffee before we headed out. Really, nothing not to love.

I stayed away from Toast for the first 6 months I lived in Louisville because I thought their East Market location and $$ on Yelp placed them in a price range my budget begs me to stay away from. Au contraire.

I'm so glad a friend finally convinced me to try Toast about 4 months ago. I can eat a hearty yet sophisticated brunch there for $6.25! I'm talking about the toast and eggs with its harissa hot sauce--by far my favorite dish there. It seems so simple and with the price so low, the first time I got the toast and eggs I added a side of bacon because I assumed the meal wouldn't be filling enough on its own. Again, my initial perceptions were proved wrong. The potato casserole and the brioche make this a "stick to your ribs" kind of breakfast.

Toast really allows you to make your brunch experience anything you want. I've gone with people who can end up with a $20 brunch, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on the creativity and great food quality that defines Toast when I choose the frugal route.

Side note--the servers are really knowledgeable about the dishes they serve. One waiter even gave me the recipe with grocery store recommendations included on how to make my own version of the harissa hot sauce!

Damn its good, one of the best brunches I've ever had at the price.

In town for a few days with my girlfriend, went to Yelp for good food.  We're both jaded by NYC food but hoped for the best.  Greeted with great service, we ordered omelettes plus the bread pudding pancake on recommendation.

Wow, what good food.  I can make a good omelette, but they make a great one.  Light, fluffy, and filling, it's a winner across the board.  Plus the bread pudding pancake - eaten fresh, it's sweety goodness.

The service was great too - the guy who covered our table gave us great recommendations and was there with refills before I could even ask (was a bit hung over).

I could be snobby and say "New York City brunches are better," but they're not.  Net net, if you find yourself in Louisville and want brunch, go here.  Just do it.

Some people love hitting up dive bars in the cities they visit.  I love hitting up breakfast joints.  Toast is the breakfast restaurant that my Louisville friends have recommended most often, but I've never had the chance to visit until now.

In a word, "Wow."  Everything I had was simply fantastic.  I took my server's recommendations and ordered Toast and Eggs, a deceptively simple-sounding dish that filled me up and made me wish I had room for more.  I also enjoyed Toast's cheesy, creamy hashbrown casserole and their peach basil iced tea, which was every bit as refreshing as it sounds.

The service was great, the menu was expansive and I didn't feel like I'd been taken to the cleaners when I received the bill.  Toast is one of the very best breakfast restaurants I've visited in the last year and I wish upon every star in the heavens that they would open a location in Cincinnati.

Great brunch here with my girlfriends a few weeks ago. Our table had the Atlantic omelette with salmon and cream cheese, the King, which is french toast with peanut butter, bananas, and marscapone cheese, and the bacon and egg sandwich.

My friends enjoyed their omelette and french toast very much, although the King is RICH, RICH, RICH!  I ordered the bacon and egg sandwich with their hashbrown casserole, and don't be fooled by the benign name "bacon and egg sandwich"!    This was a pile of applewood smoked bacon, Dijon vinaigrette, gorgonzola, and eggs on a gigatic sandwich with soft bread.  It was so good!  And the hashbrown casserole was totally the way to go (versus fruit, which is always the healthy option, just not always the smart choice! :))

We were bummed that they weren't serving cocktails (in Louisville, no cocktails until after 12 or 1 on Sundays), but still had a great brunch accompanied with their fun coffee drinks.  Can't wait to go back!

After a well pointed finger from our hotel we ventured out to eat with the locals at Toast.  A cute breakfast joint with some yummy eats.

Being on a hot chocolate run I was delighted by their peppermint hot chocolate.  Eventhough Mr. Man could tell his oj was not fresh he still enjoyed his herb omelet with hash brown casserole.  The salmon and cream cheese omelet was delish!  And like other purveyors they did not skimp on the salmon.  Yum.  Perfect for me.

The fiancee and I went for an afternoon breakfast the other day. We shared the Baby Spinach Salad (really good), I had chocolate chip pancakes (good, though I have to say that I make 'em better), and she had great french toast.

I was later informed that I should have gotten grilled cheese there. So (and I'm saying this without first-hand knowledge), if you go to Toast on Market, make sure to get a grilled cheese sandwich! Don't take my word for it, though -- that's my friend, Jenny's, suggestion :-)

As one of the few places in Louisville that are considered independently owned "breakfast spots" - Toast was on my list of places to go.  Except, I'd been here for a year, and I still hadn't gone.  Not for any reason because whenever it was suggested, someone always turned it down with "lines are too long".

So, I thought the problem would be solved when they moved into a new and much larger location on Market.  I was right!  We went in around 10am on a Sunday and there were NO lines.  We didn't even call ahead!  So that's good at least.

Then we went to sit down.  I'm not saying that this is Toast's fault, but it was the most unpleasant morning breakfast situation due to the large group sitting next to us.  My friend and I were interested in small chat, catching up, but were completely thrown off immediately by the incredibly raucous group of patrons only a few feet away.  Good start, to bad start, instanteously.

Then to the food.  I was expecting something OUT OF THIS WORLD!  Especially based on the ridiculous length of the wait, prior to the move.  When it is ~$9.00 for 3 pancakes and $2.50 for coffee... I thought that they should knock it out of the park.

Boy could I ever have been wrong.  See, I'm on a quest to find the best bread pudding in the city so I ordered the bread pudding pancakes.  I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it only had the slightest taste of bread pudding, and that was 100% because of the rum raisin syrup.

My poor friend's dish was even worse.  She got the southwest omelet (I think)... it had eggs, cheese, and chorizo with salsa and sour cream on the side.  There were probably only about 3 tsp of ground chorizo and the egg tasted like fake egg.  The fruit on the side only had the cheapest melons and grapes, not really anything to brag about and the toast was just a little piece of white bread with butter.  I seriously could have made something 100x better than that at my house (and for far less $$).

I was praying the owner would come and have a chat with us, but he focused only on the ridiculously annoying group next to us.  I'll likely go back again, but a place called Toast should have the best dang toast for 100 miles.  Not a measly white piece of bread with butter.

Early one morning, sun yet to rise, waiting on my fashionably late breakfast companion, and standing in front of Toast on Market. To note, I find this time of morning to be interesting, when the city is quiet and the people found on this area of Market Street tend to be of the more colorful variety. For example, the man with the radio stations playing in his head, switching channels from Hip Hop to Sports Talk Radio, his voice echoing off the renovated brick facades of NuLu. He took a wide berth of me, crossing the street where I stood and crossing again once he passed me. I am the dangerous sort after all.

Anyhow, on this particular adventure, anticipation level at a high due to the 70-odd reviews on Yelp, I eagerly entered the Toast establishment. Quaint but colorfully modern at the same time, Toast embodies what NuLu is intending I think. A little bit of old mixed in with a little bit of new, shaken and stirred.

A little chill in the air initiated my first order, a hot chocolate while I wait. It was yummy but they should re-label it warm chocolate, as I believe the whipped cream cooled it off more than I prefer.

And, ahh, there she is. These adventures (and reviews) aren't half as fun without my companion and breakfast for one is a buzzkill. Let's begin.

I had the South of the Border omelette. I'd heard good things and I'm all for southern climates. It was... good. Not great. Not astounding. I also had this little Orange Mojito thing which my companion said was kind of froo-froo, but I'm perfectly cool with that, I'm good with my masculinity, I wear pink occasionally and I look good in it. (I workout ;) )

In the end, for all the hubbub, Toast on Market is good. Perfectly serviceable, but maybe not my first choice for breakfast on Market.

OK, time for a walk, wonder if we can catch up to Radiohead guy and see if there's anything good playing?

This is definitely one of the top places to brunch it up. The spot has a ton of character and it is great to take visitors and would also be the perfect date spot. Hint hint.

The first time I went I got the Bread Pudding Pancakes. They were pretty yummy but a little much as far as breakfast goes. This last time I hit the jackpot. I got the Toast and Eggs that was much fancier than it sounds. Some signature hot sauce that was just the right heat without overtaking the rest of the dish. And the bread was perfectly buttered, toasted and such. They were over easy instead of over medium, but still quite yummy. My good friend visiting rocked it out with some Monte Cristo French Toast. I stole a bite and was impressed. A little salt (ham) for your sweet. He did order a side of sausage that I found a bit sad. 3 bucks for one patty. Wasn't even comparable to my 3$ Lemon Souffle Pancake, but you know, you live you learn.

Our Pumpkin Spice Lattes were pretty damn tasty, but 5.50 is a bit stiff. I couldn't decide between it and the hot pepper infused Bloody Mary, I will definitely go the other way next time!

This one was a tough call - 4 or 5 stars. I'm calling it 4.5

Sometimes it's a matter of expectation. Had this been, oh, virtually any other breakfast joint in town Toast would've had 4 stars from me. But Toast on Market's reputation is fantastic AND I had to travel out of my way to cross this venue off of my Louisville culinary bucket list on a Saturday morning so was I looking for a masterpiece of a breakfast? Heck yeah I was.

The positive: The hot pepper infused Bloody Mary was WONderful. Exactly what I was looking for and unabashedly heated. The hashbrown casserole ordered by my breakfast companion was flat delicious (Cracker Barrel you should be ashamed at what you call hashbrown casserole compared to this lovely side). The service was good and the venue was bright and cheery.

The negative: I ordered the Elvis-esque "The King" french toast and side of fresh fruit. Peanut butter, marscapone, bananas and certainly going to be over the top considering they name it after the man who loved over the top food. What I ordered did not match what I received - a plain jane order of peanut butter french toast with a side of orange slices and red grapes. Ho-hum at best. If I'd gone to a diner I would've been fine with it but based on Toast's reputation? Disappointing.

It's the first time I ventured into Toast on Market. Maybe I ordered the wrong plate? Or maybe I should just stick to Bloody Mary's next time and anticipate getting schnockered before noon. Based on the fabulous things I've heard about the place I'll give it a second try. But the Holy Grail of Louisville breakfast - sorry, based on what I've experienced, I'm going to keep looking because this isn't it.

PS - We got there early morning and had no problem getting a table. If you're looking for brunch hours I'd recommend calling ahead, they'll save you a seat.

If I know you, I know that there are mornings where you wake up and say to yourself 'self, I am entitled to a breakfast that consists of more than a pitiful breakfast bar or a bowl of sugary cereal.' We all experience this.

In Louisville, luckily, you do have options. You're probably going to hear the endless droves rave about Wild Eggs, and rightfully so. I think it's safe to say that there are two major breakfast places to visit, in Louisville, and Toast on Market is definitely one of them.

I can admit to spending more money at Toast than I should. I enjoy breakfast a substantial amount, when it's done right, and I have had nearly everything on the menu. The omelettes are fantastic. The Atlantic is an interesting combination of flavors (have you had an omelette with salmon in it?), South of the Border is a classic, heavier combination of spiciness and full bodied textures, and it's always fun to build your own.

I cannot resist ordering coffee or a specialty drink before I eat, and the beautiful part of that is that I can do so and not break the bank. Toast isn't outrageously expensive. I tell you the truth when I tell you that IHOP will set you back a greater amount. I tend to get espresso, and it's surprisingly solid, stacked up against all the espresso I've had in the Highlands and elsewhere. My wife routinely orders the Heath Bar Hot Chocolate, and she raves about it.

The French Toast options, the Banana Nut Oatmeal, the Lemon Souffle Pancakes and the Monte Cristo are all worth getting. Great food that isn't horrible for your health, either.

The tricky part of Toast is that you are bound to wait, if you don't plan ahead. Weekend mornings require careful time management and a call to the restaurant. You can get on the waiting list, but make sure to hustle and get there as quickly as you can. Weekdays, you should be fine, but try and get there around nine.

    Trust me, it's worth going.
