I often test new restaurants by ordering chicken. Â Bad restaurants overcook the chicken and then try to make it better by adding mismatched accompaniments with too much seasoning. Â Rye is a bad restaurant. Â My chicken was so overcooked that the drumstick was shriveled into a piece that resembled a piece of wing. Â At $26, the dish was outrageously poor. Â While we did have some nice oysters to start with, the overall impression was one of exceeding ineptness, especially on a uncrowded Saturday night.
Review Source:I loved this place!
So nice and cozy!
Lots of different drinks and cocktails to choose. (I personally didn't like any of the cocktails we got in our table, but also I'm not very into cocktails in general)
We had the Meat Appetizer and the Cheese Appetizer. I think the cheese one was better, but the meat one had some fun stuff to try.
I had the Seafood (mussels) main dish, and it was delicious, but I wish they had given me some more bread to dip in the plate haha. Their fries were pretty good.
In all honesty though, I'm giving this place 5 stars not so much for the food, although is in the 4-4 1/2 star range, I'm giving them 5 stars for their service.
My friend made the reservations for Valentine's day, and our crowd fluctuated so much starting with 9 coming, then to 3, and then to 6... It was a joke! Yet. the guy helping us with the seating changed our reservations everytime, moved tables, and chairs, and made it possible for us final 6 to be there and enjoy our time without problems. He actually gave us probably the best table in the house. Just his effort alone was hands down the best.
Then, our actual server was off the hook, and quuuuiiite pleasant to the eyes I might add hahaha. Everything was well done and planned. The lighting and the location of the tables and the kitchen right there, open and ready to be explored, is definitely a great sight for any new comer into Rye.
We had an absolutely great Valentine's evening there, and I, being a visitor, must thank this place and the people working there, because they made it happen.
