Say what you want but Morton's is in my opinion one of the best steakhouses in Louisville. I won't say that I have been to every one that is here but I've been to a lot and Morton's is always right on par with the best and often beats some of the others on price. My husband and I are creatures of habit. We have things that we love and will often order the same things at different restaurants. I say this because we ordered the exact same meals at both Morton's and Ruth Chris  and our bill at Morton's was 50 dollars before tip cheaper. I also find Morton's food to be much better. I have never gotten a poorly cooked steak at Morton's and their  mashed potatoes are some of the best I've had. I love that they fix them up with butter sour cream and bacon right at your table.  Morton's is also home to my favorite salad. The chopped salad is awesome. Probably the best chopped salad I've ever had. As for the servers bringing the tray with the different cuts of meat around to show,  I know that's not appealing to everyone but in response to the reviewer who says everyone knows what the different cuts I meat look like that is definitely false. As a chef I am plenty familiar with the cuts but I know plenty of people who find this helpful. All in all you're missing out if you don't give Morton's a try!

Morton's and Capital Grill are the 2 high-end chains that hubs and I frequent in various cities. From NYC to San Fran and numerous points in between, we have dined at a Morton's. So, when faced with dinner options for us + another couple while visiting L-ville last month, Morton's was a no-brainer. True to form, service was impeccable, somelier was knowledgeable, and the environs were comfy. Hubs and I split the lobster and filet mignon special while the other couple each ordered filets done their way. I requested au poivre sauce on the side - delish! - and the table split au gratin potatoes, steamed broccoli and a lovely Cote du Rhone. Everyone was pleased with their meal and declared the dinner a success. This kind of consistency is why Morton's draws us in time after time.

What a disappointment!  Steaks are really no different from your typical overpriced high-end steak restaurants as we only go there for the prestige and ambiance.  But this last time, I took my favorite client to this place and only to be humiliated by the restaurant's GM named Joe Effert.  What a jerk!

His wait staff spilled sauce all over my client's cashmere sportcoat from Brooks Brothers, and the GM offered to "rent" a sportcoat from Mens Warehouse for my client to wear the next day for a meeting!  He didn't bother to comp my client's drinks or dessert and we had to twist his arm before he would knock 10% off the bill!

Too bad Morton's...I travel the world over and never ever will I take a client to any Morton's or for that matter, any of the Landry's chain of restaurants.  I would rather take my best clients to Ruth's Chris or Gibson's.
