I've never actually dined in at Boomer's (it's on my list of things to do), but I've ordered carryout more times than I can count. I love the place. The tomato soup is sooo good. It's thick and full of flavor, kind of creamy in texture. I don't know how they make it or what they put in it, but it's the best tomato soup I've ever had. I get a cup of it every time I place an order! Sometimes I go with a bowl and make it my entire lunch. The salads are also top notch and pair perfectly with the soup.

A nice little surprise that always comes in the to-go bag is the York Peppermint Pattie tucked away at the bottom of the bag. Perfect ending.

Aunt Susie at the Louisville Slugger factory recommended this restaurant to us when we finished touring the factory and museum. When we arrived (we were travelling in a group of 7), the owner came out and apologized that they had had 2 of their staff not show up for work that day but that they'd love our business if we didn't mind a wait (the chef also came out and apologized up front). Since we didn't have any hot plans for the afternoon, we decided to stay. Great decision! The place is named after the owner's dog, and the decor is very dog-centric. Dining is set up in a number of small rooms and feels very family style. You order by selecting options on a printed menu that is given to the wait staff (or, in our case, the chef), and they've got a number of sandwiches and salads to choose from as well as daily specials (it was meatloaf the day we were there). And they had fresh squeezed lemonade when we were there - everyone at the table that order it agreed that it was excellent. Even with being short staffed, the food arrived quickly, serving size was ample, and everything was tasty. The staff were friendly, and the chef joked with us while taking our orders and bringing refills of the yummy lemonade. Prices are reasonable with lunch costing about $7-9 for meals.
