Been three times in the last 10 months.
First time (weeknight), as I walked into the bar area (which was dimly lit at the time), my forehead contacted the pointy ear of the brass horse on the immediate right. Not a great start but was otherwise okay. Just had drinks. Staff not very helpful in stopping the bleeding though and seemed generally indifferent about the whole thing.
Second time (weekend), began with door flying open and glass breaking around us as a recent ex-employee (stlll wearing insignia shirt) expressed frustration at his firing by crushing main door while we were trying to enter. Most of staff thought it was kind of funny b/c there was apparently a wage issue by the employee and they informed us that managment had him arrested for the vandalism (?) that happened directly in front of us. Otherwise, our little birthday celebration had good service, food and drinks. No apology by management (or anyone) for our beginning experience.
Third time (weeknight), there were events going on the bar area and the place was woefully understaffed (only two bartenders -- but six hostesses walking around -- go figure). Had a horrible time getting any service and wasn't helped by the fact that the bartenders kept taking people out of order. In fact, she started to take the order of the guy next to me and he insisted that I should be first b/c I had been waiting so much longer but she ignored that plea.. On top of that, wouldn't answer any questions. Then gave someone back a different person's credit card and had to fix that problem before I eventually received the wrong order. Total wait time standing at the bar was a legimitate 25 minutes. After all that, I said  my goodbyes and went elsewhere.
I can't think of any reason to go back there given the price point. It shouldn't be a game of "whether we get good service or not" when you show up. There are just so many better options.
Almost feel like taking off another point b/c the brass ear still sticks out at head height after 10 months (and probably longer). Raise it a few more inches off the floor, put something in front of it to prevent injury, or relocate it. Not rocket science.
I've been here on three occasions and the first two occasions  were pretty good, the last time suffered from service issues and worse... a steak that was grisly and rubbery lukewarm lobster tail that should have been sent back.  Not sure if it was an off night but... restaurants at this price point shouldn't EVER have an off night.  Love the room, loved the first two experiences but might give Z's or Eddie Merlot's a shot next time in Louisville as I have a feeling Ruby's is coasting on reputation at this point.
Review Source:Almost everything about our experience was very good. The service was great and the staff very helpful in answering our questions. The decor was interesting (some may say over the top) and fun. the drinks were generous and the wine prices okay. The sides were good, and the bread was delicious and hot from the oven. The steak was a big disappointment, especially at the premium price they charged - it wasn't very hot when served and full of gristle and unnecessary fat. The waiter boasted it might be the best steak I ever had - it wasn't even the best steak I had that week.
