Intermezzo Cafe and Cabaret

The atmosphere was great as was the company.  We were seated quickly and the service was prompt.  Our server was Matthew and he did a great job.  For an app I got the beef veggie soup and thought it was really good.  The veggies tasted fresh.  The brie and chickpea soup was that our company had was also good.

The salads that came with dinner really didn't have any "love" with them.  It was basic spring mix with a few nuts, cranberries, and no dressing.  Not impressed.

The main course that I got was the shrimp and scallop with saffron and salsa.  I didn't taste ANY saffron and the shrimp and scallops were baked in a ceramic dish.  It wasn't overcooked, but the dish was half full of some kind of liquid so the food tasted boiled.  The last straw was the fact I got 3 shrimp and 2 scallops.  My wife got the tenderloin with frites.  The tenderloin was ordered medium and came medium well.  But the kicker was that the steak was about 3 ounces and smaller than a  hockey puck.

The pumpkin mousse for dessert was good, but the bread pudding seemed strange.

The flavors were ok for most of the items and the service was good.  I might go back but be more inquisitive about the food and portions.
