This is a quick lunch time pick up place so I knew not to expect too much.

However, I was still disappointed.  I had a made to order rainbow roll that barely had any fish on it.  The fish slices were so thin I couldn't taste anything.  To top it off, I noticed when I got home that they charged me for "extra meat" when I didn't ask for it nor did I get "extra meat".  The brown rice was dry and the roll was very loosely wrap - making it look bigger than it is.  I also got the shrimp shui mai that were already prepared and sitting under the heat lamp.  Much to my disappointment it was cold by the time I got back to the office and the sauce it was sitting in was bland.

    I will not be returning.

Good for quick bites and convenience, but the quality might not be there all the way.  If you're unsure, just go with their Special.

Rather good for something quick. Went for lunch one afternoon and the place was practically stuffed with patrons. The prepared sushi was okay, but the sushi made to order is really worth it. There are perhaps several more visits that I will need to make over a period of time. While the sushi is indeed good, the layout of the restaurant and the crowd that gathers in it make the place rather claustrophobic. It may be better to go during off-lunch hours.

Don't bother getting sushi here.   The rice will be dry, the cut's of fish will be thin, and your roll will be filled with rice.   Didn't try the nigiri, but it looked like the cuts of fish were better.  Likely will never return considering Kamehachi is close by and better.

In a pinch?  This will work.

If you're seeking a stellar sushi experience?  This will not work.

I certainly wouldn't categorize Tokyo Lunch Box as a a high-end restaurant serving creative rolls.  It's really like buying sushi at Jewel.  Stick with the basics (tuna rolls, California rolls) and you'll be just fine.

I like that you can get rolls with brown rice.  That's cool.  They also have REALLY good veggie goyza.  Who woulda thunk?

I also like to pick up a little tub of ginger for afternoon snacking.

Need sushi quickly?  Need turbo-sushi?  This place will get you squared away.  As with their other locations, you can pick up premade sushi dishes or order from their menu.  They have some seating inside the store (I've never had a problem getting a seat), but no wifi.  The sushi here is a nice change of pace from the multitude of sandwich shops that otherwise cover the area.

Great place for quick lunch time sushi and more.  I'm a big fan of the spicy tuna maki box.  Also the spicy tofu soup is good.  They always are putting out free samples of some of their special rolls too, and those are always good.  Their prices are also very reasonable for a loop location.  I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for their quick sushi fix for lunch in the West Loop.

Consistently quick and ok....Always upon entrance you are greeted w/ a sushi special roll sample and its typically one of their nicer/more creative rolls that they offer.  Either way who doesnt enjoy free samples, I do?!?  Hello Costco on the weekends is the best thing known to the creation of a woman's body!  :)

Ive tried all sorts of dishes there, my fav go to is the salmon teriyaki bowl.  Hear me out first....For some reason I truly believe its the greatest protein to go w/ teriyaki.  Either way for like 6 and change its quick, convienent, and consistently good.

This bowl has a great balance, yeah it could use more veggies as Im a veg lover myself, but Im not going to complain.  Carrots, mushroom, spinach, brocolli, fried tofu, great white rice is amongst the nice thin cooked salmon.  Add a lil siriacha for a lil heat and you are walking away with a decent lunch.

Tried their spicy Udon noodles, meh just ok.  Wasnt that impressed w/ it.  Sushi you can get optional brown rice, which is kinda cool, but I still opt for the white!  :)   Service is always friendly...

Barely a step-up from supermarket sushi, but when you need sushi, you might be willing to go for it. The absolute worst thing about this take-out place is the service at the cash register. Uber-slow (maybe things will get better when the cashier knows the prices of everything rather than having to look at each container's label ... too, the "helper" at the cash register is often too distracted by his cell phone to ensure you get the soy, napkins, etc. he's in charge of putting in your bag).

I judge every sushi place first and foremost by their Spicy Tuna Roll. This 12 piece box is a good value, but at what cost? Clearly human hands never touched these cut pieces that look more triangular than round or square. Also, the biggest offense: the tuna was of the tartare variety, not pieces of tuna, but tuna "salad" in texture almost.

The miso soup sitting on the open counter for easy self-service was barely warm even in styrofoam and didn't taste nearly as good as the powdered Kikkomann stuff you can buy at the grocery store.

My lunch buddy had better luck with a speciality maki, though the center was stuffed with that faux crab instead of shrimp or something else you might expect from a better place.

Self-service soda is tucked in a corner near the garbage cans in this miniscule place, so operating the machine can be tricky unless you're left-handed.

There are 2 street-facing counters where you can stand or sit and watch the people go by.

These people may be getting into the swing of things, but with umpteen other locations, you might think the staff would be heavier on experience to teach the newbies.
