A decent beer selection with 8 or so taps.  Lots of tv's with sports.  We only drank this time so no comment on food.

The place was packed with m20 somethings - mostly guys.  So, we felt a little elderly.

I was greeted very warmly the first moment I stepped in and found out I was their first customer since they opened just about an hour ago. They had a couple of interesting cocktail options from which I picked the Harlem Shake which was quite strong. Jill, my server, was very communicative and always asking questions (the kind of questions that made you feel she cared and not just asking them for the sake of checking up on you as part of service protocol and walk away) so she was genuinely attentive and quickly realized the drink was too strong for me and brought out more juice. Having said that, this is only because I am light weight - regular drinkers would've enjoyed the mix just fine. The decor I would describe as contemporary vintage, I can imagine it being a great setting for a pre-clubbing night. The owner, Marty also introduced himself to me and gave me a Tommy Knuckles T-Shirt - sweet. Sheryl, the wife of the owner was also friendly and accommodating, sharing her stories about her culinary discovery which helped shaped some of the items on the menu, one of which was the maple glazed bacon called "Glazed and Confused" which was SWEET & SPICY: the combination of flavor profile that I don't see a lot in midwest. I ordered the Don Knott Lobster Sandwich as per Sheryl's recommendation thinking it'd come small judging from the price but I was totally surprised by the amount of lobster meat I get (very yummy and MOUTHFUL) and the quality of the taste (fresh & crisp) for its price. I literally had to recheck the menu again to see if I saw the price correctly: it was a steal. The Aspartacus was tasty, the bacon vinaigrette drizzled on top of the asparagus hit the spot. Like Jill, I would say that same thing that I don't even like asparagus, but that dish was really tasty. My only tiny complaint was that I requested for a bag to carry my boxed up leftovers from Marty, the owner (which, in retrospect, was probably not the right guy to approach for petty requests), and he never came back with one. I did notice that he was quite busy entertaining guests, however, so I understood but being overly polite customer as I am and trusting that owners are probably extra-attentive in making ends meet for guests, I waited and waited thinking he will come back with a bag for me but he never did. Sheryl, who is always there, helped me out, however, and this small yet reflective incident reminds me of the saying: "Behind every successful man is a great woman". Sheryl and Marty worked as a team. I walked out feeling happy about the whole experience, nevertheless. Marty, if you're reading this: you have a great wife (and staff: Jill). I would say I am a slightly hard-to-please eater, but for the taste, freshness, uniqueness, and VALUE: their food was very very pleasing.
