There is absolutely nothing on this menu that is remotely healthy. The pizza is a decent value. The italian beef is bland in comparison to others in the neighborhood. The Gyro's are relatively tasteless. The good thing is that the fries are huge and scalding hot and 25 cent refills on drinks. If you are searching for mediocre, flavor-lacking, fried fast food, want to gain weight fast or are merely drunk after your kids little league game and are not ready to go back home to your trailer yet, then Tommy's is for you. Watch for the daily specials. It does not hurt to speak Spanish either if you are ordering here.

Their Gyros are lacking, dogs aren't that good and the pizza is NY style.

I always find their buns to be hard on the edges and they make the dogs so fast that they tend to miss with the topping or don't put enough on.  The service has gotten old to me...I used to appreciate their snobbyness, as though it was their schtick, but it now is just annoying.

I think you'd be better off spending your hard earned dollars at Portillo's, Dante's or Kojak's...but that's just me.

I have been going there for about 20 years now and it is a good place to get your grease fix. Try the Foot Long Polish it's my favorite.

I've been to Tommy's many times over the past 15 yrs but I haven't been there recently. Stopped in the other night and found that the two hot dog special (mediocre hot dogs and cold smelly fries) is now $6 and they don't even serve Vienna dogs. Everyone else is offering lunch specials for $5 or less. If I want to pay top dollar I'll go to Portillos and get a quality product. I guess I haven't missed anything except the huge price increase. Won't be going back there soon, if ever.

I like this place  its fast and cheap  and the food is  decent.

The $5 for 2 hot dog and giant amount of fries special is a very good deal   broke and  There are also different daily combo specials (one day is gyros for instance, very good stuff) next day is a pizza special ( I never had it though). The food quality is okay .  Its a good Hot Dog Place

I have been going to Tommy's ever since I can remember. It's one of those local places that everybody knows about and loves. Over the years, their prices have gotten more expensive, thus the reason for four stars. I usually will order their hot dog special, pizza special, or gyros special. All of these are my favorite and I can't complain. You can get food delivered, and I recommend their tomato pizza. They just renovated their dining area and it's very nice. Also, they now accept credit cards.

Friends were visiting from England and while out looking at homes we stopped for a "Beef" and "Dog".  They had never had an Italian Beef and were thrilled with the flavor.  I love LuLu's in the city, but this was darn near close.  You yell your order to the guy behind the counter, he asks if you want it "dunked" and there it is a big, fresh sandwich.
The $6 dog special is great as well.  Cash only!

The $6 Hot Dog Special is fantastic.  Two Chicago style dogs with fries and a drink.  I remember when it was $2.50, but it's still a great deal.  Just remember, ketchup has no business being on a hot dog.  Especially if you are over 12 years old.  The Italian beef is also superb.

Have started going to tommy's more and more now that little john's is gone. Gyros are good, italian sausage is excellent and the pizza isn't bad. Definitely a good value but make sure you bring cash because they dont accept credit cards.

Been going here for over 15 years.  Love the food and the prices.  Probably the main problem anyone has with them, is that they don't take credit cards.

Their cheeseburgers are awesome! Messy & delicious, just the way you're supposed to have them in a joint like this. Reminds me of Wolfy's on Peterson & California, but Tommy's burgers win in this round. Sad though, Hubby's gyro didn't have feta, so skip that and try something else.

Typical fried food as every other hole-in-the-wall type joint; cash only; and refills are $0.25.

don't forget to try the cheeseburger

This place has great prices and a little of everything to eat. The pizza is the cheapest around. Great tasting food !

2 dog special. Been going here since we were kids - now Portillos is in the picture, but Tommys is cheaper, local, and has better dogs. Cup of cheese!

Bar none my favorite place for hot dogs and italian beef.  Its a taste of Chicago in the far northwest suburbs.  Give it a shot and don't judge it by any of the other locations because from my experience they don't stack up (I'm looking at you McHenry).

Tommy's is the very typical and traditional Vienna joint found just about anywhere in Chicagoland. Big menu of all the right kind of stuff including beefs, sausage, dogs, polish, gyros etc. They have a super fast $5 hot dog special which they must sell thousands of every week. Almost always a line here and yes, they guy who makes the dogs calls to you from behind the counters to ask what you want. That's how its done. They have daily specials with a rib special on Saturday night which is a good or better than the ribs anywhere else in town and far cheaper. They make pizza too which is pretty good. Cash only.

The commenter above has obviously never seen how real Chicago orders their hotdogs, etc.  If you are a little turned off by yelling your order, get over it!  Noone cares and the food is so worth it.  Great Polishes, italian beefs, hot dogs, italian sausauge, you name it.  REALLY good prices for the area too.  They also have pizza specials on certain nights- a large pizza for under $10.  Can't beat that!  This Tommys however, takes cash only, which is pretty inconvenient in todays debit card madness, but it's worth it!

It's not so bad. Kind of strange way to order though. You kind of yell over the counter into the back at this guy and tell him what you want, then go over to the cash register and pay. Note that this place is cash only, no cards of any sort are accepted.

The $5 for 2 hot dog and giant amount of fries special is a very good deal if you're broke and hungry. There are also different daily combo specials (one day is gyros for instance, very good stuff). The food quality is mediocre. Same freezer-fare you can get at the other low-end places in the area but they don't charge as much for it here.

As a highschool student being granted the ability to go out for lunch, Tommy's became a staple in our weekly dining. From their cheap hotdog special, 5 dolalrs for two dogs, fries and a drink- to their grease ladden pizza. The chicken poppers are good, but the hot dogs? They are the best in town. Sure, the decorations leave something to be desired, and the small parking lot can cause a headache or two if you're not careful- But They will make your dog the way you want it, and for a good price.

Their menu is vast, and has several deep fried and battered goodies on it, but I go for the dogs, and nothing else. Give it a try, for five dollars, who could ask for more?
