Tortoise and Hare is definitely one of those places that many locals go to hang out with friends and neighbors while listening to live music and enjoying very flavorful bar foods, as well as classier, more entrée-style meals like pastas, gourmet burgers, and their famous crab dip which is potentially the best crab dip I've ever tasted.
It is a sports bar so it can get fairly loud some nights, and on the nights that there isn't a game, there is often a local garage band banging away but hay, it's a boisterous bar, what were you expecting? My only regret is the fact that parking around that area is incredibly scare and can be expensive, so come early. I recommend tortoise and hare highly because you won't find bar food this good at any bar in the area, the happy hours are quite generous, and the drinks are both cheap and strong, which is my favorite combination.
Can only speak to being here for an early dinner. It was one of those days where all I wanted was a cheeseburger. I sure as hell wasn't going to go to McDonald's so I decided to try this local bar. My chili burger was huge, done just right, and actually really tasty. I ordered tater tots as a side since they ran out of sweet potato fries and they were incredibly generous with the quantity of tots I received. Would probably go again to kill another burger crave.
