Very good and getting better
Best non sports bar dance/nightclub in south KC metro. Great management, nice staff, very reasonable prices, always busy on weekends. No food....on weekends.
Where to begin with Touché....
I would have never gone here without the encouragement of my wife and several of her co-workers.  I've read the Yelp reviews and expected the worst. Instead, I found Touché to be a high energy dance club and bar that though definitely suited for the older crowd, is a fun place to be a wallflower and watch the fun from afar.
We arrived shortly after 9pm on a Saturday night. The parking lot was packed - I figured because of the Buffalo Wilds Wings in the same strip mall. Wrong! Touché was bumping from wall to wall with an older crowd (with a smattering of 30 somethings but no 20 somethings). Kindly greeted at the door by a doorman and manager. Extending his hand to me with a smile, he stated "they must call you Lucky." At the moment I was the lone guy with five ladies. Thankfully another guy came later with his wife.
Bartender was quick and friendly, beers were cold and well priced. Watch out for the coffee pots sitting on the bar - they are hot and full!
We weren't able to get a table but also didn't really want one. We were content to stand under the watchful eyes of Frank Sinatra along the wall, drink our beers, and watch the older crowd.
Pros - Everyone here is having a good time. If you are younger than 40, don't come here to make fun of people. Come here to dance and admire how mobile and excited everyone else to be dancing. Â I was in awe of an older couple sitting in front of us (clearly in their 70s) who were up on the dance floor nearly every song. They were so happy and I was happy for them. A younger guy (50) stopped me and commented on their energy too. Apparently they just went to Vegas and the woman was dancing on tables. Good for them!!
Safe, clean, and high energy environment. The music was really good - not just 70s and 80s stuff. The DJ played some newer stuff including Kid Rock & Nelly, J-Lo, etc... Even with newer music, the older folks were still shaking it on the dance floor.
Cons - We definitely got some looks from the crowd but no one was unfriendly. Â My wife had a couple gentlemen callers try to talk to her - no big deal but watch out for the Silver Foxes. Â
Don't get in the way of people trying to get to the dance floor. These folks are on a mission and they will nudge you to get there. Â Again, not unfriendly, but not your classic bar style tap on the shoulder or "excuse me."
I don't really want to go back - this was a one time thing for me. However, I would highly recommend it for other people looking to have a drink, dance and a good time. Again, don't come here to make fun of people - go to enjoy yourself.
We almost didn't try this place out due to some of the reviews written here, but decided to give it a go anyway. I called ahead a few days in advance to find out about reservations, dress code, cover charge, etc. The guy on the phone was extremely polite and answered all my questions. We could not get a reservation due to all the available reservations being booked up, however he did tell me that they did not reserve all tables and if we were there earlier we could probably get a place to sit.
We arrived on a Saturday night just before 9:00 and were greeted warmly. Â There is no cover charge as mentioned in other reviews. I was told that the club used to be "private" but now serves food in the middle of the week so they are open to the public without a cover charge. Nice! He quickly found us a place to sit (there were quite a few open tables). There are two main areas...a main room when you walk in a smaller room in back that was being used for a private party when we were there. Â Overall the place is classy, up-scale, and a little darker.
The place started filling up pretty rapidly and the crowd is definitely between 40 - 70. It was evenly mixed between men and women and a diverse group of cultural makeup. They played a wide variety of music... 80's disco, 60/70's classic rock, modern hip-hop/pop and even a little country. They do play slow songs. No rap. Â The dance floor was packed all night.
Beers were $4.75 and my wife's mixed drink was $6.00.
Bottom line - This place is definitely oriented towards an older crowd...something the Kansas City area needs. There were no attitudes, service was very good, and everyone was courteous. The music was kept at a level you could still talk without screaming. Like any other bar there were men trolling for women and women trolling for men. Â There are quite a few older guys strutting their younger arm candy. It is a very good place to people watch, dance, and/or go with a group. Â I would recommend it to people who have been to Funky Town as an upscale substitute that doesn't have a cover charge and plays slow music now and then. Â All in all a good night out.
Visiting in town and decided to check this place out with some family. Â Warning: when people say older crowd..they mean older crowd. I was thinking 30-45 range...45 will be the younger bucks in this joint. Â They keep the place dark and there is the all important spinning disco ball. Â The dance music consisted of 70-80's, including BeeGees to the Top Gun soundtrack, and even slow dance songs from Dirty Dancing...I felt like I was at my parents Prom. Â Dont get me wrong this place was crowded and with a big group could be fun...I give it an extra star for GREAT people watching...50 year olds dirty dancing, throwing out pick up lines, and trolling for late night love was highly entertaining. They even gave a 5 minute warning to the patrons regarding when the lights would come on...and let me tell you people scattered for the dark of night, like vampires avoiding sunlight.
Review Source:Lively on a Friday night, with a range of ages (was told that management intentionally draws  younger people now).  We sat in the less-crowded back room, which also had a bar and dance floor.  There was something about membership when we entered (didn't catch, because it was covered by another in my party).  Martinis were $10.  Fun for dancing, and a well-mannered clientele--we stayed until closing.
Review Source:My friend and I like to go to Touche and practice our dancing. We are of "mature" age.
When we couldn't find a seat close to the dance floor due to reserve notes on the best seats, we asked the waitress why the notes. She said they were the ones who paid the bills, so to speak, and my friend said the f word to that, but it was not directed @ the waitress. I then ordered a drink, and my date a diet coke. I did say that he was the DD, and the waitress rolled her eys and said,"Oh wow."
Before we knew it, out comes a short burly guy, Â employee, getting in our face about cussing the waitress, and creating a scene! After pointless words were exchanged, we were ordered out, but did ask for out money back. We hadn't sipped a bit of the overpriced drinks. This guy shouts to the man behind the bar, "Give them $9.25 back!!" This employee created such a scene so all could see how in control he was ! Loud, abrasive, obnoxious. And he was using the F word at us many times over!
I'm 64 years old, taught 6th grade for 36 years, and now own a restaurant. So I do know a bit about public decorum and service. Touche owners need to drop in from time to time and see how things are going. They may get an eye-opener!
I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Don't waste a fun Saturday night at this place! Â We thought we'd enjoy a night of good music and drinks while visiting Kansas City. Â We made sure we made reservations and secured a table for 2 in our names. Â Arrived about 8:30 and was charged "Club Membership fee" ... ok only $10. Â I said "we have reservations too...do we tell someone else" to girl at door. Â She said, "no...just go right in". Â Nice looking atmosphere...hardly anyone there yet....all tables had "reserved" written on them. Â We looked around, waited to see a hostess or someone. Â No one was guiding us. Â We sat down at a table for two. Â Had to go to bar and get our own glasses of wine...still that's ok. Â Enjoying the atmosphere, disco ball, nice easy listening 70's music. Â We saw the waitress but she wouldn't glance our way so my husband went to bar to get second glass of wine. Â As he left, the waitress whispered in my ear, "you know you can't stay here, this table is reserved for this man...it's his weekly table and he's here." Â I said, "ohh ok but WE have reservations, where is our table?" Â She asked our name (not sure why because they didn't have a list). Â I said, "can we sit at one of those other tables?" (about 8 empty tables around). Â She said, "no they are all reserved for people." Â I said WE have reservations..where is our table? Â She ignored me and put the man's drink in front of me on our...I mean HIS table. Â I turned to the man and said, "obviously they have made a mistake, would you care to join us tonight." Â The man said, "No. Â This is my table." Â The waitress said there was no table for us and she said, "I'm sorry." Â At that point I raised my voice and said, "No you're not sorry..." Â She scooted over to get a small, bald man who was bringing a large young bouncer with him. Â My husband was back with the wine and the small bald man told us we had to leave the premises. Â I tried to explain that this was not OUR mix-up and we were just trying to ascertain what happened to our reservation?? He cut me off, led us to the door (refunded our drinks) and told the girl at the door to put an X by our name so we could not come back. Â We left, looked at each other and said, WTF? Â We are a mid-50's married couple from out of town, dressed up, spending money in a lounge and because we sat at a "regular's" table and they errored in seating us, we get thrown out? Â A very bizarre night and one we're still saying..."did that just happen?" Â Moral? Â Unless you are a "regular" who has made a home at Touche, don't subject yourself to this poor service and (as we did) humiliation.
Review Source:I got boobed!! Â And that, my friends, was the highlight of my night here. Â We were a mix of 20 and 30 somethings in town for training, but the crowd here is def much older. Â Now, older crowds I can handle, since I'm from Chicago - land of the Viagra Triangle and the manther - but this one wasn't too friendly. Â Tried to mingle and chat up a few people, but that was an epic fail. Â So, we just grabbed a table, sat down, and enjoyed the drinks and scenery until... Â
I got boobed!! Â So, according to my friend, you are "boobed" when a chick walks up behind you and rubs you know what into the back of your head. Â Since I have no idea why any chick would decide this is the thing to do - I've even contemplated trying it myself since the term has already been coined so it's obv pretty popular - I'm gonna say my friend was pretty young and maybe she thought it was time for a feeding? Â Anyways, after watching a dude w/ a walker try and get down, we decided we'd had enough and left, with my boobed friend scarred for life ;)
