Great Day Cafe

Found this little gem of a cafe on Yelp and could not have had a better lunch! It's cold and rainy and inside its warm and the live music is uplifting! The Chicken Lime soup and the Quinoa Tabouli is fantastic! Love this place!!

My friend and I wanted to have lunch in Overland Park. So we chose Great Day Cafe. The limited menu offers panini's, sandwiches, spring rolls,, sides, all with a healthy flair.

We ordered. Panini's are 9.38, and you get a side, the choice is interesting in sides. I chose the quinoa. Then you are given a table marker with words like "Relaxed" or "rowdy." You find a table, which can be difficult.

When we were there, musicians were playing folksy, soft jazz. It made for an interesting background, but not so loud you can't talk.

Our food arrived, and it was delicious. I had the portabelo panini, and it was everything I thought it would be. A sliced portabelo mushroom, cheese, red peppers and other ingredients, warmed on asiago bread. Childfen of the party next to me (who I just  happened to know), played with hugging salt and pepper shakers.  You may have to look for those. But do look for them.

The atmosphere is hipster or green. Green as in a near catchy vegan restaurant or hipster like aura with tunes in the background. Personally I love this place, cause there's no other restaurant like this in Kansas City. I'm drawn to locations like this.  It feels good to eat here.

Me and my friend chose this place to eat at because we were headed to the Overland Park Farmer's market and for me it kept the theme of that nicely.

I ordered the you pick 2.  1/2 caprese sandwich with a house salad toped with feta and cranberries and when they asked walnuts or pecan's for the salad topping the very nice man behind the counter did not even batter an eye when I said both but happily obliged.  

The table marker they gave us said "relaxed" and though we sat at the community table next to the "rowdy" marker:  a family with small children, it was all in good fun!

My opinion is this place serves good food, has live music on a Saturday afternoon, art on the walls, friendly servers is just a plain good idea and I will definitely be back.
