My dad's been coming here for decades, and I'm happy to be his guest whenever I'm home for a visit. Â He orders frog legs, and I go for the perch, both of which are good. Â The drinks are honest, and the rear dining room is much improved now that it's no-smoking. Â The specials are a good value, and the soups are good examples of what homemade soups should be. Â In all, a solid Region restaurant with good food and no attitude.
Review Source:I received a gift certificate for Christmas so I dropped in to check the place out. I have an allergy so I needed to know if they serve anything I can eat. I talked to Mark the owner and told him of my allergy. He was not eager to find out if the specific menu item was something I could eat. He flat out said he did not know because he ordered that item from Canada. I really thought he was going to read the label for me but... I let it go. I then asked about the oil they use and this is when I could tell he was not interested in helping me at all. In truth, he just did not want to sell me a dinner. I assume he's one of those owners who have a regular customer base so he does not feel the need to cater to potential new clients. That's too bad. I left empty handed. Anyone want to buy a gift certificate? Please let me know. It's for sale.
Review Source:I lived down the street from this restaurant for years and very much enjoyed their steak sandwiches and good service for two years. Â When my beau and I decided on a Valentine's Day steak dinner while back in town to visit friends, I thought it was a no brainer. Â
That was a huge mistake. Â
Only one waitress was working the back of the restaurant, it seemed.  It took a long time to get our order in, even longer to get our steak, and by the time our food came out I was so frustrated and hungry I just wanted to eat as quickly as possible and get out. Â
It wasn't until I was a third of the way through my steak that I realized two things: my prime rib was way overdone, and it was terrible.  My beau on the other hand, could not say enough good things about his steak sandwich.  After bagging the rest of this crappy piece of meat that I'd paid $24 for, and another half hour for our check to arrive (this waitress just couldn't keep up, but not her fault, she was by herself), we paid and left. Â
We went on our visit, told our friends what happened, and they seem surprised.  They are regulars and always get good service.  Then I showed them the  hellacious "prime rib", and my beau's leftover steak sandwich.  They quickly saw what happened: my prime rib ended up on my beau's sandwich and I got the crappy cut of steak they use for sandwiches.  Me being so frustrated and hungry, I'd completely overlooked it. Â
I didn't want to write this review till I had simmered down, but it's two months later and I'm still steamed that the Valentine's dinner I'd been looking forward to all week was ruined by the sheer incompetency of this place.  I will NEVER be back, or recommend this place to anyone again.
Another typical NWI bar/restaurant, the Town Club makes a nice martini. They have these cute little mini tables you get if you want to eat at the bar. I can't describe them but it is like some guy made them in his garage.
I love the bar booths and even though it is smoking, usually opt to eat here. The 'regulars' take up most of the bar stools.
The Town Club offers burgers, steaks and seafood. You get soup or salad with entrees as well as relishes of beets, coleslaw and cottage cheese.
On my last visit I had the ribs and have to say they were some of the best I've had. They are served dry with the sauce on the side. The fries were served 'burned' as requested. The meal was quite good and reasonably priced.
