The concept is completely wrong for this place. Â This is a beer place but it is way too restauranty and kid-friendly right now! Â To sum up my experiences here I will say I agree with the 2-star reviews for this place. Â I got food poisoning the last time I was there (3-2-2013) and was barely satisfied the 3 times prior. Â My conversation topics were limited due to proximity of the 2 to 10 year olds present in this place. Â Their saving grace are the appetizers and beer! Â So here's my idea.
Throw out the menu completely and limit it to just appetizers/small plates (aka the good stuff!). Â I'd make sure the beers are in stock, rotated, fresh, and plentiful. Â I don't think it would hurt to have a bigger selection or variety of wine for the non-beer drinkers. Â I would also modernize the decor (just looks way too thrift-shop and old/dusty inside), get rid of the booths and have mostly bar tables and stools. Â It's hard to move and breath in that place. Â I feel locked into my booth, which I hate, (especially when I have to pee!) Â No kids allowed. Â Again, no kids allowed. Â And finally, I'd move this place directly across the street to where the huge parking garage is under construction on Broad Ripple Ave. Â Parking problem solved, and it would bring in business from all over the city with it's increase in accessibility! Â
Currently, this place is way too small to maximize it's potential. Â Someone with the time and funds should look at The Tap in Bloomington and basically bring that to BR Ave. (specifically, where Scholars Inn Bakehouse or Peppers used to be). Â It'll attract Butler students, young professionals, and even the middle-aged/older fun crowd.
If this place chooses to exist as it is currently, then they must step up the game on service, cleanliness, and food quality/taste in order for my return, otherwise I think this is a pointless place to meet for a drink during peak and non-peak drinking hours.
