The concept is completely wrong for this place. This is a beer place but it is way too restauranty and kid-friendly right now! To sum up my experiences here I will say I agree with the 2-star reviews for this place. I got food poisoning the last time I was there (3-2-2013) and was barely satisfied the 3 times prior. My conversation topics were limited due to proximity of the 2 to 10 year olds present in this place. Their saving grace are the appetizers and beer! So here's my idea.

Throw out the menu completely and limit it to just appetizers/small plates (aka the good stuff!). I'd make sure the beers are in stock, rotated, fresh, and plentiful. I don't think it would hurt to have a bigger selection or variety of wine for the non-beer drinkers. I would also modernize the decor (just looks way too thrift-shop and old/dusty inside), get rid of the booths and have mostly bar tables and stools. It's hard to move and breath in that place. I feel locked into my booth, which I hate, (especially when I have to pee!) No kids allowed. Again, no kids allowed. And finally, I'd move this place directly across the street to where the huge parking garage is under construction on Broad Ripple Ave. Parking problem solved, and it would bring in business from all over the city with it's increase in accessibility!

Currently, this place is way too small to maximize it's potential. Someone with the time and funds should look at The Tap in Bloomington and basically bring that to BR Ave. (specifically, where Scholars Inn Bakehouse or Peppers used to be). It'll attract Butler students, young professionals, and even the middle-aged/older fun crowd.

If this place chooses to exist as it is currently, then they must step up the game on service, cleanliness, and food quality/taste in order for my return, otherwise I think this is a pointless place to meet for a drink during peak and non-peak drinking hours.

Whenever I plan on breaking my diet, I go here. Specifically. For the Cuban. With fries. And beer.

Make that 2 beers.

Totally worth it.

Ok, maybe 3 beers.

Please for the love of god put some sound dampening foam/panels/material ANYTHING in here. I came here with my Husband and a friend on a weeknight and I couldn't hear anything because the echoing in the place. I basically had to sit there in silence because there was no way for me to make or hear any conversation.

The food was good and I'd really like to come back but I won't until I can have a conversation in the place.

This place is a local favorite. Their food is delicious and their beers on tap are awesome. Most are local!

The only issue is that it is so popular there is usually a wait for a seat. Even the bar area there it is difficult to find a seat. A few times I have visited and not had the best service. Other than that, this place rocks!

I'd heard that Twenty Tap had great beef burgers and the rumors are true - that is a tasty burger. Plus they have lots of tasty beverages on tap. The French fries are also good. With them you get choice of two aiolis (dipping sauce - basically mayo and with stuff added in). The horseradish and chipotle were nice departures from ketchup.

Great vibe.

Twenty Tap has an EXCELLENT beer selection that is little heavy on the IPAs. This is fine by me but not so great for the wife who prefers wheats, wits, and belgians. I was a little disappointed not seeing any Three Floyds on the draft list, but it sounds like they usually have something tapped and I just came at the wrong time. Their draft list focused on local breweries (Sun King, Triton, Flat 12, Upland) but had a handful of regional brews as well.

The atmosphere here is very laid back and the decor is clean and simple. Service was solid, the waitress definitely knew her beer and could make appropriate recommendations based on our tastes and preferences. I didn't try the food but would recommend the trip for the beer selection alone. It is excellent to see a restaurant/bar focused solely on craft beer in Indy!!

I'll start by saying this is, in my opinion, one of the better bars in the entire Indianapolis area. The atmosphere at Twenty Tap gives you a real local pub feel, comfortable and casual, while maintaining the fresh feel of a trendy hot spot.

The alcohol selection at Twenty Tap is great. At the time of my last visit there were 38 beers on tap. The beers are listed on a huge board above the bar and change from time to time. The selection of Indiana and regional beers here are extensive. This is the place you want to go if you'd like to taste what the area breweries have to offer. They also offer a few other beers from around the country, so there's something here for all beer lovers.

The food here is also top notch. I would argue that Twenty Tap has the best fries in Indianapolis, not to mention one of the best burgers as well. The fried house pickles are a very good appetizer, and come highly recommended. The meal portions are totally adequate for the price, so you're guaranteed a good meal at a fair price.

All in all there really isn't much to complain about here. Friendly service, great atmosphere, with quality food and alcohol. I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting a good beer or a great meal. Definitely check this place out.

Without a doubt one of my favorite bars in town.

First, the beer selection. Plenty of Indiana beers, along with a big selection of regional breweries. There's always at least a few other taps from around the country too (Left Hand, Great Divide, etc). You can often expect the good stuff that beer lovers tend to get excited about... think Goose Island Bourbon County and Three Floyds Zombie Dust. If you're a beer lover in the Indianapolis area and you haven't gotten in yet, you're missing out.

Oh yeah, pints are $3.50 on Tuesdays, which is pretty awesome, too.

The food is always great. The black bean burger is definitely one of the best I've ever had. Make sure if you order fries or cheese curds (both highly recommended), get some aolis too. Soups are always good too... had the clam chowder last night and was not disappointed.

It can get a bit crowded sometimes, so try to get there slightly early.

One of my favorite local restaurants. Great selection of local brews to try and good food. Only negative is that it can be busy.

Great bar, but more importantly, great bartenders. I went in and asked for a beer recommendation, and they served me up a glass of pure ambrosia. It was a beer so delicate and tasty I could swish it in my mouth for days without it getting sour. Their selection is amazing, the atmosphere is nice, if a little crowded. But what do you expect for a place like this?

Stopped after work for drinks and dinner. Server was nice but forgot our table a few times. Restaurant was out of quite a few specials and it was only 4:30. Ended up with a great cuban sandwich and stout that could have bumped this to a four star. However, my friend's potato salad was 'bad... tastes spoiled' and they were out of pickles which was the reason for our trip.
In Indy there are so many brew pubs popping up it is hard to keep up with the decor, selection, etc. The ambiance here was ok. I have several around town I would recommend over this one but if in the area not a bad selection. I wouldn't make a special drive to stop here. We will give the food another shot if in the area.

I love this place!!!!!!
Now i normally will be found there for lunch on Tuesdays which is $3.50 pint days.
Great beer on tap, in fact its 36 taps.
The beer list changes day to day, depending on how quickly they can get thru it, so help out people!

The food is great, in fact good enough to slap your momma good.
I would have to say any burger, that you order will more than keep you tummy not screaming for food for a while. The side i always get is the fries that coming with a very tasty herb dressing.
Also you need to try out the curry mushrooms.

The bar staff, Tracy, Jenny, Trish are i believe what makes this place.
The decor on the bar side has a great long bar and a TV at the end of it and Tons of beer cans on the walls.

If you like local brews, this place should be a place you add to your list as a place to visit. When it first opened, it had twenty beers, mostly from Indiana, on tap, and since then, it has added on more, meaning it has a beer for almost anyone who is a beer aficionado. The list changes as beers run out making it a fun adventure any time you visit.

The food is also pretty good; it's focused on burgers and sandwiches, which they do a good job at preparing. There are some good salads if you prefer something a bit healthier and plenty of vegetarian options as well. The place is frequently crowded on the evenings so be prepared to wait by the bar if you think you want a table, but it's well worth the wait.

You have to try the cheese-curds, absolutely delicious. The rest of their food that I have tried was just average, but they do have a great selection of beers.

Lots of fantastic Midwestern beer on tap. If you don't know how much better the beer is in the Midwest compared to wherever you're from, sit down here for the afternoon and find out.

The burgers were great. They'll cook it to medium rare, and the jalapeno burger is pretty spicy.

Great beer selection and very nice food menu as well.. Tuesday is $3.50 pints.

They are only open until 11p (weekdays) and 12a (weekends) with no Sunday hours.

The weekend crowd can be a bit insufferable, but as I state in a lot my reviews.. I recommend visiting on off-peak hours (ie Tuesday at 3p).

Disclaimer: I'll need to go back to give this place a more accurate review, but the poor service I experienced here will make it difficult to give this place another chance.

I came here with a group of 3 on a Monday evening for dinner. It was pretty busy, and surprisingly full of young children. This does not seem like a place I'd bring a young child, but there were tons of toddlers and babies here.

Our server, Matt, must have been slammed because it took a long time for him to take our drink orders, even longer to receive those drinks and a crazy amount of time for our food to arrive. Toward the end of our meal he become more attentive and we finally got some refills. I had heard good things about the mac and cheese and their burgers, so I was happy to try both. None of the burgers looked to great, so I asked for a standard bacon cheeseburger- not on the menu but pretty standard. I also requested no side to be served with my burger because they had only a few options: fries, cole slaw or a salad.

When the meal arrived, I had to ask Matt for an ingredient I had requested for my burger as it did not arrive the way I ordered it. The burger was okay, nothing to write home about. Don't let the name "Pimento Mac&Cheese" turn you off because it was really yummy!

When the bill came, Matt had put some of our dining partner's items on our bill and vice versa. I also came to find that I was nickled and dimed for my burger. I understand being charged for bacon, but $1.50? No way. AND, I have NEVER been charged to add mayo to a burger, so you can imagine my surprise to see a $.50 charge for a cup of mayo (especially when I had to remind him to bring it out to me because it didn't arrive with my meal as requested). So now my standard burger was jacked up $2.00! Tell me in advance if you're going to charge extra for condiments.

When we brought this to Matt's attention (both the fact that it would have been nice to be told in advance if charges would be added for specializing an order and disappointment in charging for things like mayo), he basically shrugged it off saying that they don't offer custom burgers. It was pretty hard to tip him since he was not very attentive, messed up our bills and did not offer a reasonable explanation for charging $.50 for a little cup of mayo.

All in all: I felt nickeled and dimed here, and I didn't feel like my feedback was valued when expressed to Matt. I'm not sure if I'll be back, but I hope if I do come here again I'll find that the poor service was a fluke.

Love 20 tap. I love that now they actually have more than 20 taps. The beer choices are phenomenal. The wait staff is always friendly and very helpful. The food is also really yummy. Just because this place focuses on beer does not mean they slack on the food. I have had several of the burgers, but recently found the bbq pork melt and it could be my new fav sandwich there. Just typing about it makes me want to go back.

They've added another vegan sandwich! The Welcome Back Kotter I believe it's called. And man-oh-man is it GREAT!! This place is quickly becoming my new favorite restaurant in the city. Friendly staff, awesome french fries and an impressive beer selection. I'm happy to see this place succeed, too, so the Newstand didn't close in vain. RIP Newstand...

I've been both floored and completely underwhelmed here. It's a shame it's not all that consistent, and it seems to have everything to do with how busy the place is. The first time I went was a weekday early in its life. Despite the chef being a vegan, the burger's were beautifully cooked to order and made with great beef. It was kind of busy, but the service was still quick and thoughtful. My group got great suggestions from the bartender on their vast selection too. I thought I had found my new favorite place, and raved about it to a lot of people. I guess a lot of other people did the same...

On another occasion, the place was jammed, and it seemed like a completely different place. The service was lethargic and uninformed. The burgers, fries and cheese curds all failed my previously formed expectations. But, the Bahn Mi still rocked. They may have fixed these inconsistencies since I last visited. And, if they have, you're in for a real treat. Here's to hoping the pendulum swings back and finds a happy medium.

I think Twenty Tap has the potential to be an awesome burger and brews joint. It's just not quite there.

Some of the food is outstanding. Can't go wrong with the *original* fried cheese curds. I swear, I saw God when I ate them. The roasted garlic aioli is the perfect complement. The burgers are also satisfying --juicy and somewhat inventive, and priced fairly. The fries are perfect.

Twenty Tap lacked in two areas for me: service and seasoning.

The hostess, another young girl, accidentally crossed out our name and seated parties before us. She only realized it when we asked.

A place that serves 20 beers on tap should employ people who know something about beer. The waitress I had wasn't knowledgable about the beer or food menus, describing a black lager as "dark." She also recommended my party of four get TWO orders of cheese curds based on the portion size. No one, we discovered, would ever need that many cheese curds (no matter how good they are).

Now to the seasoning issue. The *spicy* fried cheese curds were as awful as the *original* cheese curds were amazing. The cook uses a blackening spice mix in the batter that overwhelms the dish with cumin and cayenne. It makes them nearly inedible. We told the waitress they sucked, basically, and she didn't care.

The same seasoning mixture was used in the pulled pork sandwich. My sis-in-law, who doesn't like spicy food, ordered the sandwich and ate a fourth of it. The word "spicy" was never used to describe it on the menu, and the assumed manager asked if it was too spicy when she cleared the plate. Yes, my sis said, and then the manager complained about the cook. But she didn't take the sandwich off the bill or offer apologies.

I am giving Twenty Tap three stars because I left the restaurant satisfied despite these things. Really, the fried cheese curds are worth a star on their own. We all agreed we'd rather return for apps and drinks.

I'm not a beer drinker so I can only say that they have over 40 varieties, many local. I did sample several things on the food menu and it was great.

Fried cheese curds = awesome
Macaroni & Cheese was very creamy, not the usual stuff you would expect but better.
French fries were to die for!
I also tried the Cheese and Veggie plate, I wouldn't repeat it. It was alright but I was expecting more veggies (not cucumbers and cauliflower) and less cheese. It came with a fig paste and hummus, which if you like that sort of thing then it would be great but not for my liking.
Atmosphere was relaxed and it was a great place to meet up with friends. Parking in the neighborhoods along the street was easy to find.
It is Broad Ripple area so if you like to check out the Hipsters and weirdos then you might be in luck. I'd go back if meeting with friends.

In all honesty, I hate this place.

On the plus side, there are (more than) twenty beers on tap! That's great news, and it was probably a good idea for them to include this fact in their name. This alone should be enough to make Twenty Tap a 4-5 star establishment. Sadly, it just isn't one.

The environment in Twenty Tap sucks. It's small and crowded, but it really just feels totally unwelcoming because no matter where you are it feels like you're close to the door.

The menu annoys me. I mean, great, another place in Indianapolis that serves average burgers/sandwiches for like, 9$. I'm so sick of this. Indianapolis must be the only city in the universe with such an absurdly low cost of living where people think that 8-9$ an entree is cheap. It's not cheap. It's not expensive, but a burger at the alley cat is 5$ and way better than this. Same with Workingman's Friend.

I just don't understand why this place serves food at all. If I was going to describe what Twenty Tap serves, it would be "food flavored food".

This could have been a great establishment in a really cool area. But, it's not. ah well.

I'd been here once before for dinner and it was decent but I wasn't going to call it a favorite. Then some friends suggested we got there for dinner again and I decided to consult Yelp to help me decide what to get. I saw all the rave reviews for the Vegan Bahn Mi and decided to give it a shot. I'm not a vegan...or even a vegetarian for that matter but I do enjoy vegetarian entrees. THIS SANDWICH IS AMAZING!!

First of all, the tofu is nicely marinated so it's fully of flavor. I also think they must use soft tofu because the consistency was different from any I'd had before and I normally use firm. The vegetables on the sandwich added great texture and flavor as well and the bread, OH the BREAD!! It was soft and delicious.

Most of my friends (who are meat-eaters) didn't seem jealous of my sandwich but one of them tried it and agreed that it really was delicious. No one else asked to try it but they were all pleased with their own meals so that might be why. I can't remember what everyone else got but I remember that two people sitting next to me go the Cuban and seemed to really like it.

So, vegetarian or carnivore, I'd recommend you try the Vegan Bahn Mi. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised either way.

Of course, Twenty Tap is also known for their local brews which I'm a fan of. They have the Tripel de Ripple on the menu as well as another one (Dark Horse maybe?).

I should probably take off a star since the server messed up all our bills but the sandwich really got this place 6 stars, so really, they're still at a 5 star rating.

They have twenty beers on tap and delicious food. I'm not sure it gets much better than this. The quality of food, service, and atmosphere all combine with great beer and not-your-typical-broad-ripple-pricing to make Twenty Tap one of the best locations to gather with friends and enjoy some pints.

My fiancee and I happened to decide on trying the place out for the beer. We did not have high expectations when we ordered the food, but after receiving our appetizer basket of fries, I think we were both hooked. (Be cautioned that their fries are fantastic and addictive!) She always like to order on the lighter side and get something that has a modicum of nutritional value, which usually leaves her disappointed when the only thing to order is an iceberg salad. Twenty Tap was already well-prepared for her, however, with a great tasting vegetarian (tofu) sandwich and a side salad that was worthy of a 4-5 star restaurant. I am the guy with beef on the mind and grease in my veins, I can assure you that their burgers are quality.

Vegetarian Friendly, Beefatarian Friendly, and great beer!

20 Tap is one of my favorite bars in Indy, if not my favorite. This is partially because I live about 2 minutes away, but also because I've yet to experience such a wide selection of craft brews that changes DAILY (Not even my year and a half of living in Chicago led to such a find). A majority of the beers on tap are Indiana-brewed, and I've discovered a wide array of breweries/favorites as a result.

Not only are the drinks here great, but the food is fantastic (and vegan/vegetarian friendly). My personal favorite is the Vegan Bahn Mi, while my boyfriend obsesses over the black bean burger. The aiolis are also very tasty.

For those who don't like beer, they also offer a selection of wine.

Twenty Tap Tuesday is something that should be screamed from the top of your lungs every time you wake up on a Tuesday morning. On Tuesday nights, all pints of local draft beer are only $3.50 (which includes the tax). I was completely and utterly astonished by this. I went with a few friends and I didn't quite believe them when they talked up this bar so much. They have everything from Flat 12, to Brugge, to Sun King, to Fountain Square, to Peoples, and everything in between. The menu is huge and you will want to stay here all night to just drink as many delicious beers as you can. I enjoyed a Fountain Square chocolate stout, a Peoples imperial IPA, and a Tank 7. I could have spent all day here.

The atmosphere is wonderful. It reminds me of a smaller Chumley's, a little more intimate, and way less sporty. Punks, men and women in business casual, and just regular Joes like me came to enjoy pints of delicious local beer and join in comradery with one another. The staff is amazing and friendly, and don't even get me started on the food. It's all amazing. They have vegan dishes, meaty dishes, and dishes that you wouldn't imagine being available at a bar. Brats, burgers, fries, and vegetarian sandwiches floated around our tables as sounds of food pleasure filled the air. Twenty Tap closes around 11pm throughout the week, which I think is a unique and perfect time for the crowd that comes here--men and women looking for great drinks and food with friends after a long day at work.

OK so look, they've got a very nice menu, whose various hamburger incarnations sound a little better than they are (Before y'Accuse Me, take a look at Fat Dan's). They've got less seating than they could fill, especially at the bar (no points off; as a new joint, what are you supposed to do?). They've got two legitimate, real-sharp-tip dartboards very near an exit door (differing opinions, depending on whether I'm a a knife-wielding Brit or hand-wringing litigious American*).

What I was hoping to and didn't quite say above is that Twenty Tap isn't perfect. There are some non-ideal features. Some unfulfilled potentials. I guess. A better way of saying it I want to emphasize that I am searching, for reasons of Yelp legitimacy, for any reason to sub-5-star this joint.

But there's this problematic fact: Twenty Tap (the tap count is actually now thirty-ish) is an immaculate curator of regional beers. There is no better place in town to go if you seek to get in touch with the very best of the Midwest's brewing culture. And considering that according to http://ratebeer.com three of the top three brewers in the world*, and Jolly Pumpkin, reside in the Midwest, this is no miniscule fact.

*IN THE WORLD. Google it, si vous devez.

Twenty Tap is a much needed addition to this part of College. It is a non-smoking alternative to Moe and Johnny's, they have a wide selection of delicious craft beer and it has real dart boards. I finally had the food here and was quite impressed. There was a wide selection of veggie options; I had the mushroom Reuben and has satisfied. Try the cheese curds...they are scrumptious.

This is a perfect spot for a quality pub that is far enough from the Village that you miss the rif-raff.

They could use more bike parking.

Everyone who works there that I have encountered has been super friendly.

I was so impressed with this place. I don't give a lot of 5-star reviews, but there really wasn't anything they could have done to make the visit better. The beer list is amazing, and they had a sour beer. That is so hard to find!! I also love that all of their beers are around $5, they just size them accordingly. That's so nice for me, since I'm not a huge drinker. I can try the fancy stuff, but only get $5 worth.

I had the burger. Why WOULDN'T you get the burger?? It was cooked perfectly medium, came with the exact right amount of cheese, aioli, and an onion ring on top. The salad was ok, nothing special, but I was too full to eat it anyway, so no points lost there.

We started the meal with fried cheese curds. I've been to Madison, Wisconsin, and these curds are just as good. The batter is kind of tempura-like and there is plenty of it. You get your choice of two house-made aiolis. Do yourself a favor and get the garlic and the chipotle. Then hoard any leftovers to try with your entree. I must try the fries with my burger next time. Other tables had them and we could overheard them raving about them.

Hubby got the Cuban and let me try it. It was also heavenly, but nothing could match that burger!

Our server and her trainee were attentive, fun, and gave great advice on the beer. GO HERE!!!

Let's think this through:
Twenty taps.
Oodles of local beer options.
Well distinguished bar and restaurant spaces.
Hoppin' intersection at 54th and College, often featuring a food truck.

What's not to love?

I happened to Finally make my way into Twenty Tap last week for a Girls' Pint Out event. Given that it was Three-Fifty Tuesday, the place was packed. Given that it was Three-Fifty Tuesday, I got to try Triton Brewing's Sin Bin (which I very much enjoyed) at a really reasonable price. Won't find that shiz in London when I hop the pond.

The bartender was kind enough to let me try a couple beers too, as I wanted to get my bearings on some beers I had never tried before (I also gave the Fountain Square Brewing Bock a taste). The staff was busy, and it was hard to get up to order, but I luckily tucked in next to a local and was set for a few minutes while I waited for my brew. I imagine on a quieter night, it is quite a good place to enjoy a football game (not the American kind, you know how I roll) and a few pints.

I didn't have the time, or space in my stomach, to try any of my foods. But, then again, the name is Twenty Tap, so it's clear what their focus is on. And I can speak clearly to that by saying: if you want options, you've got them. Again, what's not to love?

The more often I go, the better it gets.

The place is rather noisy and quite busy around 6 or 7pm Thurs. - Sat. But it's been worth the wait, especially for their beer selection, which features an array of Indiana and regional brews. Unfortunately, the chalkboards they write them on are often hard to read or obscured by bar-goers who always look anxious about the fact that people are peering over their shoulders at the low menu.

Food highlights: The Onion burger is incredible. Vegan bahn mi and veggie burgers are pretty good.

Service has been about average: sometimes quite friendly, other times not so much.

We've seen it operate in fits and starts. Last time we were there, we arrived at 7:15pm on Saturday and were told there wasn't much of a wait on the phone right before we got there. We ended up waiting an hour for a table for four.

But the succulent Onion burger (so called because it has several onion rings on it) and the Long John Silvers-esque fries (in a good way!) quickly made me forget our wait. Oh, and the beer didn't hurt, either.

P.S. They offer flights of several beers of your choosing. Good deal if you can't make up your mind.

There are lots of great and accurate reviews of this place; I'll just review some basics.

(1) GREAT beer. As the name conveys, 20 taps of various craft brews. I will say -- not the best overall balance. Our server admitted the selection can be a little heavy on certain types of beers.

(2) Atmosphere is comfortable, dimly lit, but lively. There are two halves: a bar with plenty of standing room, plus two dart boards, and a seated restaurant-style area with booths and tables.

(3) We sampled only appetizers, but they were delicious. It's difficult to find good fried cheese curds outside Wisconsin, but Twenty Tap succeeds. It comes with your choice of 2 out of 2 aiolis.

All in all -- Twenty Tap is a great addition to the South Broad Ripple area. It was pretty busy when we went (granted, it was Friday evening). If you're a beer or gastropub fan, pay this place a visit!

Not only does Twenty Tap have lots of tasty beers, but they also have equally wonderful burgers. The black bean burger was delicious, even for someone whose eating habits tend to lean toward the carnivorous.

They also had fried cheese curds. Really, really good ones. I haven't had cheese curds that delicious since a vacation to Wisconsin several years ago. The batter they fry them in is light and flaky, almost like a good fish batter. And the cheese gets heated throughout, which means when you bite into them you get the wonderful effect of having strings of cheese everywhere.

Cheese and beer are among my favorite foodstuffs. I will be back for sure.

Still not able to wrap my arms around the "atmosphere"...just seems to lack a conviviality to me..

Nice staff....not terribly outgoing....show very little interest in an infrequent visitor such as myself... I guess I expect the fake enthusiasm you get at places like Scottys.

However, excellent and rotating beers...obviously chosen by folks who know and care about beer..

Food is pretty good...most recently smoked portabella rueben...an excellent take on the original......however....it seems my food gets the benefit of sitting out somewhere...as it never is very hot....the fries always luke warm....and it is usually after the barkeep says something along the lines of ...."ooops ! better check on your food"...and she brings it out immediately....maybe establish some means of informing the staff that food is ready for presentation ??

For the prices..which are not outrageous...I expect a bit better.

Twenty tap was so sorely needed in this area of town. It's totally laid back and is teeming with potential as it gets settled.

The restaurant is a bit noisy, but that was perfect for a Tuesday night and dining with a toddler. (Yay! Beer and kids are allowed without feeling bad about taking up space)!

My cute little beer geek was delighting in the selection of taps, what a treat. My mushroom reuben was to die for... yep, watch me lick that plate. And the homemade aioli's were delicious and creamy - almost like butter.

The service, however lost this place a star. Our dark-haired waitress was really nice, though I too had been left unimpressed by the blonde-bun lady on a previous visit too. The main problem was that it took about a year and a half for our food to come out. I felt bad for the people who were hanging around for over 30 minutes for a table. Really, I wasn't interested in sitting there that long, hogging a table, either.

So kitchen folks, it seems to me that you have an issue to work out. The space isn't being used all that efficiently, you can fit in a bunch more tables, but the kitchen can't keep up with the small number of tables that they already have.

I guess, serve people enough beer and they'll forget their troubles about getting an actual table.

Eh. Twenty Tap. The parking is nonexistent, so you have to find a place on the street.
When you walk in, it's really confusing as to sit down, wait for a seat, or what. There is absolutely no direction. We walked in, and I know a hostess or server saw us and ignored us until she was able to come over to us. Acknowledgement is always good, especially when you're so new that people probably don't know if they're doing the right thing.

Luckily, there was an open seat, right up against another table. If you get a booth, you have a nice, large, spacious table. The rest of the tables were very close together, so close that you feel a bit uncomfortable squeezing in and out of your table. The people next to us overheard our order and commented on it. That was fine, though, but there are times where you just don't want people to be eavesdropping- Table sitting here is not the place if you want any privacy at all. I definitely overheard the whole conversation of a couple on the other side of us, and I was a bit annoyed.

I had my back to the wall, and there was no beer list, so I had no idea what beers they had or what was on tap. Be sure to check out that wall when you come in. If you are sitting against the wall, it almost feels like people are staring at you.

Our server was not very attentive. I think she kept getting overwhelmed or maybe just was a bit ADHD. She'd look up at the football game occasionally while we would be waiting for beer (something that takes a second to pour- eh). She was really nice, though. I'm sure she was probably just calming down from the busy mad rush. I would understand, as long as I have a beer in front of me ;)

I went for a burger (can't remember which one)- just about all of them had something in it that I was completely unfamiliar with. The unfamiliar item on mine was some sort of ham? Oh, but the burger was so delicious and JUICY. Full of flavor.
I belive the pickles are homemade- yum.
We didn't order any because we were hungry for entrees, but they have CHEESE CURDS.

So food- YES. Beer- YES (as long as it could be more clear?)

Service- Could use a bit of work, and I'm sure it'll iron out as the place gets a bit more of a steady flow instead of mad rushes.

Layout- Just really not that great. Don't really like being squeezed in, packed with a bunch of people I don't know, listening to their stupid conversations.

Food- 4 stars
Beer- 4 Stars
Service- 3.5-4 stars
Layout/atmosphere- 2 stars.

I'm just gonna give it 4 (after debating 3).

Presenting: Twenty Tap, the newest and coolest dining & drinking establishment of the So Bro neighborhood.

Starring: 20 great selections of craft beer on tap.

Co-starring: A wonderful appetizer, salad, sandwich & burger menu.

Produced & directed by: Kevin Matalucci, longtime BRBP brewer.

The Scoop: A dining area with a separate standing bar area. Neither area is huge so this place is going to get packed fast. Twenty selections of different craft beer on tap such as Founders Reds Rye, 3 Floyds Zombie Dust (which alas has bitten the dust), Stone Arrogant Bastard, Founders Cerise, some Sun King and Flat 12, etc. The menu is definitely award winning. The Smoked Mushroom Reuben on rye with swiss, pickles, sauerkraut, onion & Russian sauce is one masterpiece of a sandwich. The Morty Burger with mortadella, pickles, mustard, onion & smoked provolone is fabulous. AND, the House Fries are by far the best fries ever and are deserving of a standing ovation!!

What this critic says: I am extremely excited about this place in every way. Location, atmosphere, beer selection, menu choices & reasonable prices and of course, the wonderful execution of the food served. And, I challenge anyone to say these aren't the best damn fries.
