    This place gets points for

    - Having their own parking lot. Yay for not having to be scared of my car being towed!
    - Original shot and mixed drink concoctions. They have a variety of mixed drinks you can get. Your girlfriend or inner girlie-drink fairy will be happy here.
    - Having darts. A must at a bar.
    - Spacious interior
    - Clean bathroom
    - Tasty bar food (the tatertos, pork chops, kimchee fried rice are great but skip the nachos).

This place gets no points for
    - Being kind of pricey... The drinks (although interesting) are pretty expensive if you're not getting just a beer. The soju carafe isn't worth it to me because they put SO MUCH ICE into it. It's cubed ice too, so the amount of mixed drink you're getting is probably 1/4 of the carafe without all the ice.
I'd stick to beer or a regular mixed drink.
    - Their happy hour doesn't offer a great deal. And they don't have specials on most nights.
    - Service is hit or miss. They're attentive, then not. Then attentive, then not. Friendly, then not so much. They also don't know the menu too well. When I've asked on their prices for shots, domestics, specials, etc they had to go and check and came back 5 minutes later.

Overall, it's a chill spot. Away from the city and in a quiet area, it's a choice to go to when you want to just chill at a bar. It's been getting really crowded though, so avoid peak times like weekends if you want less of a crowd.

But other than that, good bar food + good drinks = a nice time here.

This place is so awesome! It may not look like much on the outside, but as soon as you walk in and look at the menu, you'll know you'll have a great time and eat super delicious food!
Happy Hour is from 2-7!! But the food and drinks in general are reasonably prices anyway.
Definite must try is the Strawberry Shoju pitcher, nihon steak, furikake garlic chicken and kimchee fried rice. :)
Fantastic atmosphere. Great service. Darts, pool table and karaoke.

When you have children, things change... and people who say this is wrong, well they either don't have children, or they have a full-time live in nanny. And I despise them with a jealous vengeance likened to that of a hurricane. Okay, so maybe I'm over exaggerating but you get my point.

+No longer do you go out til 2 am because you have to get up at 6 am and that's really non-negotiable. Kids gotta eat and will jump on you until you throw cereal at their heads.

+Your bed time slowly inches towards 10 pm, and for me, sometimes 9 pm. Although you'd like to watch that new movie at home, you must contemplate whether or not it's worth it to stay up late past 11 pm. Sorry Bruce Willis, today is not a good day to die hard.

So when we decided to head to Underdogs for a date night with our other parental friends, I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried. People raise eyebrows when you bring children to a bar. Shame on you judgy judgersons! But I remembered that Russ M once told me it would be fine at Underdogs, and what do you know, he was right!

It was a Sunday night at 6 pm and from the outside, Underdogs looks very scary and is definitely not a place you're going to find your next great meal! But inside it's your standard local sports den, but it's still somewhat new so it's decently clean. I had my two year old in tow and my friend had her 1 year old, so it was nice to find a bar which didn't wreak of old cigarette smoke and beer.

What you come to Underdogs for are the following:

    +Darts, pool & karaoke ($1 a song)
+$1 off all drinks during happy hour
+$13 for a shoju carafe (Strawberry was my favorite, but you also have the option of mango and lychee)
+Pork chops w/ mushrooms & onions (Thank you Esteban, this was AMAZING!)
+Mac and cheese truffle balls (I didn't really taste the truffle oil, but I love anything mac n' cheese. Just understand it's not real cheese.)
+Furikake chicken (Very tasty and done just right)

We played pool and sang karaoke during our visit from 6-8 pm, and our children loved it! Thankfully the bar wasn't very full so my daughter's sporadic temper tantrums didn't interfere with the good times of fellow patrons.

So my fellow parentals, the lesson here is that life does not have to end after conception. Tt just takes a little more time, planning and imagination to get what you want. Next playdate will be at Underdogs and you are all invited!!!

Super chill bar!  We came here on a Monday night at around 8pm and it was empty...  We pretty much had the place to ourselves.  It was a nice to have a chill night with the friends where we didn't have to scream at each other because of an overly loud place.

The service was great, staff was very friendly and attentive.  Their menu is awesome!  Both the drinks and food was so unique.  They had different flavors of sochu that we tried including melon, strawberry, and yogurt flavors!  They were all really good.  Didn't take any shots that night but on the menu they had like Breakfast Pancake shot, Root Beer Float, and Caramel Apple??  Sounded so interesting...next time!

As far as food we tried:

    Garlic Edamame~ Super garlicy!!  Yummmm!

Truffle Mac n Cheese Poppers~  Like little fried balls of mac n cheese with marinara sauce and jalapenos, BOMB!!

Dynamite Chicken~  Chicken karaage with like ponzu sauce and furikake and other goodness!   The bottom pieces were a little salty because they were soaking in the sauce on the bottom but still a great dish!

Garlic New York Steak~  AWESOME!!!  Had a delicious garlic crust thing on the top served with onions and mushrooms all sitting in oil and juices.  This steak was AMAZEBALLS!

Basically I'm so excited we found this place cause now we have a new place to hang out and take the rest of our friends!  And I was surprised to hear that the take reservations so I'll definitely suggest this place to people looking for a good large party spot :).

A hole in the wall bar in Kalihi... Now now... Easy on the judgements on Kalihi... You won't get mugged... You won't get shot... Even if you did, it's worth it when you come here haha.

I came here with my bf and his friends late one night. I've seen this place when it used to be Akone's, but I've never set foot inside. There is parking in front of the vicinity, but it can be quite tight as there is only one way in and out. I'm not sure if you're able to use the parking spots next to their building, it looks like it's for the other business.

I rarely go to bars and when I usually do, it's usually dirty gross and sticky haha. But to my surprise Underdog is the complete opposite. The first thing I saw is one of the waitresses busting out desanitizer spray wiping down the table -- LOVED that. There is nothing worse than sitting down on a table that's dirty.

The place looked bigger inside than it did outside. We had a party of 6, and the other parties next to us had about 10-15 people.

Our waitress was nice and attentive. I was hungry and it seemed liked they had a lot of yummy things on their menu. My bf and I ordered the agedashi (sp?) tofu, Kim Chee Fried Rice, and Furikake Garlic Chicken.

I loved loved loved their Garlic Chicken! So yummy and I would definitely have it again. It was perfectly crispy but juicy inside. The taste was delicious, not too overpowering but strong enough to have that garlicky flavor.

I had a bit of the kimchee fried rice and it was really good. It wasn't too spicy for my liking (I don't like it when things are really spicy).

The tofu was AMAZING!!! What, tofu? Bar food? YES!!! It had a delicious sauce to it and I loved the ginger and sesame oil that they put on it. So so so good and possibly one of the best agedashi tofu I've had. Better than Doraku.

The service was awesome, I was surprised at attentive our waitress was, usually at a busy bar it's hard to flag them down. But she was always checking up on us, made sure our waters were always filled, etc. They have some dart games and we played a few rounds of that, nothing too fancy.

This is a great place in Kalihi with amazing bar food. It definitely knocked out my expectations of the place for sure, I will definitely come back for the food. It definitely is the "home bar and grill of Kalihi". Way to go Kalihi!!!

Do NOT,  repeat do NOT judge this place by its cover! Okay yes...the parking here is horrendous, but the friendly staff and delicious food make up for it. So far I've been here twice, and this is probably my new bar, happy hour, girls night place to be.
    What to order...
Mac and cheese truffle balls (note, anything with truffle is amazing) and the best part it's not oily when you're biting into it.
Pesto pizza is loaded, and I mean loaded with chicken. Thin crust, like paper thin but every bite is packing all the goodness a pizza should have.
Fried rice, you can't go wrong with any fried rice, but the portion is huge!
Furikake chicken is great! Not overly sauced and bite sized with no bones!
And the steak....ohh the steak with onions. You get the picture.

Happy hour they have cocktail soju for 12 so have your night start early, with a pitcher...or five.
This place is legit. Delicious, fairly priced and if you're splitting with people it's cheap!  Ohh and darts, billiards and tv provided for your entertainment pleasure.

My favorite place to eat and enjoy good company in a convenient, clean and fun atmosphere. Staff is helpful, knowledgable and attentive without being too overbearing.
The #1 thing I like about Underdogs is the food. It's delicious, generous portions, good flavor, excellent variety and innovative. Check to see the daily specials not listed on the menu. My faves include the pork and tots, chicken pesto pizza, blackened ahi, Asian chicken katsu and the fried rice. The burger and local moco are fan favorites and the crowd loves the sizzling steak too.
Drink specials are unique, delicious and sweet! My favorite is the breakfast pamcakes, melona and shochujito.
I was a little hesitant to post about this place because I feel like it's a little well kept secret in Kalihi, but I wish them much success and the word is spreading about how great the atmosphere, food and bar is...so might as well send a review to help this first timers.
    Cheers!

Underdogs?!?  Sounds like a longshot.... I ended up trekking to "what is this place we're going to?"Wifey says: A bar and grill similar to "Duckbutt".  Puzzled look "Yeah Whatevers", so knowing the area pretty good "Born & Raised in Kalihi", thought of it as just another hole in the wall.

Located near Colburn & Waikamilo, not too shabby warehouse area with a parking lot for 20+ cars, HINT: Trucks make it a tight fit.

Walked in and...WELL, WELL, OOH LA LA...."They have Darts!" BIAS, my favorite self coordination test game.  This place is VERY Spacious.  The tables are well positioned creating an open atmoshpere and moving flow for patrons and servers.  The service is excellent.  I had water for the evening, though a "DD", was extremly pleased that my water glass was never empty and the servers always checked in with our party.  The little things like that shows experienced workers and not like some other places...

The Food and Beverage kept on flowing for our party.  I can't say much for the drinks but the food was like no other.  Keeping the menu simple instead of numerous items to choose from, makes things easier for everyone.  So I think their concept of keeping things simple and dishing out quality works for them.

The shavings of bonito flakes, and a dish topped with an over easy egg and sauces to spike your senses are some of the little things that compliment the flavor and presentation of each dish.

If every dish could speak to you, they would say.... Eat Me, Put it in your mouth,  Eat Me Now,  Don't Stop, More More More, Take It Slow and Saviour it......No people it aint sex, but its Food Porn at a Reasonable price.
Sampled some of these and they gave me a happy ending.

"NIHON Steak is PERFECT!", Truffle Mac & Cheese "Explosive", Chicken Dynamite "Da Bomb", Basket of Calamari "Tasty", Pork Chops "SO ONO", Tater Totts "Gone Wild".

In the end, not like DuckButt, A notch better imo.....
You'll need try it yourself, Enjoy.

Since the place it new, it's a good venue to go to just to see what it's all about. I went on a Monday night and it wasn't too crowded, so we were able to make use of the dart boards and pool table.

I didn't order food and instead picked off everyone else's plates. Everything I had was awesome - blackened ahi, quesadilla, fries, nachos. Great bar food.

As for drink specials, there aren't many on the night I went, but I couldnt' get enough of their LYCHEE DROP shot!!

F*ck yeah! Awesome bar food, drinks, AND staff. I'm totally down for that! Of course with my luck I find this place three days before I leave Hawaii. Wa waaaaaaaa!!! So everyone...please enjoy this place and I will live vicariously through your good times.

Located: On Waikamilo St. near the corner of Colburn. If you are familiar with the area in a visual sense like I am, it's behind that warehouse on the corner of Colburn + Waikamilo that has that huge sign that says "X (amount of) shirts for $20".

    Plain and Simple:
Parking might be a pain; go early. Underdog Signature Shots are delicious and taste exactly like their name. Food is cheap, portions are a good size, and delicious. Service is awesome and down to earth. Don't judge a book by its cover** Later in the night people double park, so just be patient and let the staff know.

    Breakdown:
I met my Go2plus1 and her friend at Underdogs around 6ish. When I arrived there was ample parking in front. They informed us that you could park in any one of the 3 lots in front since the other establishments were closed.

The girls were already 3 shots in, and 3 dishes in. (I'm sure I mention before my friends and I don't waste time)  As soon as I sat down, I grabbed a fork and ordered a Breakfast Pamcake. A sweet shot that tasted like maple syrup with the feel-goodness of pancakes; accompanied by a OJ back.

I got to try their Truffle Mac & Cheese Poppers; which were pretty good. Golf ball size-ish. Roll that sucker into their home made marinara sauce, top of with a jalapeno slice. Mmmmm.

I also got to indulge in their Dynamite Chicken; truly one of my favorites. If I was a true foodie I would be able to tell you why, "the chili aioli blends well with blah blah blah..." but I'm not that kind of gal. All I know it's delicious. It's $8 bucks. You won't be disappointed.

I was shocked to see Cold Tofu on the table, because frankly, who gets tofu and shoyu at the bar. I know I don't. *took a piece* HOLY SHEET! Even the tofu was good. Their shoyu mix was soooooo good! I could care less that there was fricken bonito flakes. Just give me the tofu!!! *nom nom nom*

After my Pamcake, we got a round of Rootbeer floats. Then a round of Pink Cadillacs. Then Mojos. Chocolate Covered Strawberry; which taste like real strawberries, seeds included. Suggested by our lovely server Pam! We got the chance to try a Raisin cookie (which had a cinnamon kick) & snowball shots (uh...yes it's named after THAT snowball, but this version you'd prefer in your mouth)

Because I arrived late, most of the food was gone, and I was still hungry. So I got the Pork and Tots. Sunny-side up egg. Which is not my thing. The smoke pork however, yummy! I suggest you eat it while it's hot. Once its gone cold, it's not so good. (then again, I ate cold tots with the smoke pork cause I couldn't let the pork go to waste)

Needless to say, the girls and I went through all of the Underdog Signature Shots + a handful of Pam's Shot-Suggestions and it was a great Wednesday night! Yes, we were still sitting upright in our bar chairs. Yes we got home safely. Hell yes we'd go back (and we did!)

**I mention this because I invited some friends for a going away party later on that week. They all said two things: "Tammy, why the hell are you taking us to this ghetto place in Kalihi?" followed by..."Holy shit, this place is SO not what I expected, it's super chill/nice....I would totally come back"

one of those "dont't judge a book by its cover" type of place. bomb food, great drinks, and chill vibes. hit up this spot before it gets popular and crowded!!!

checked out this place lastnight with some friends. walked in and went straight to the bar to take a seat. was a tuesday night around 9pm and it wasn't crowded. it's like we had the whole place to ourselves. got some drinks, food, and played some pool and darts. clean restrooms, nice chairs, and cool ac. definitely gonna hit this place up again to try more of their food. and I'm glad it's down the road of where I live in kalihi.

Came here randomly on a weeknight to meet up with a few friends and our boyfriends for drinks and pupus.  I knew nothing about this place, and had then heard it was because it was a new bar that was being compared to Home Bar & Grill.

PARKING: Is a bitch.  If you come late, then you will find the dilemma of rounding around the streets for street parking, which may not always be convenient (or safe) as I would not wanna be walking around at night around the Kalihi Palama canal area alone.  If you ARE lucky, then you will be one of the few that will find 1 of the 12 (?) parking stalls.  You gotta back out to get out, there is no outlet.

As I entered, the ambience is that of a bar, dart boards, a bar and lots of long tables.  Best part about this place that I personally found was the ice cold AC!!! and the spacing, it wasn't to crowded or cramped, which helped also to keep the place cooler.

The menu was just something else!  I can see how they compared this place to Home Bar, as the food listed were not typical "bar food" but bar food with culinary edge.  Three types of edamame: salted, teriyaki and garlic ($6).  The steak was bomb and well marbled!  Boyfriend also ordered a large basketful of calamari ($9) which literally inhaled by the boys.  The pork tater tots were also very interesting.  Although I wasn't a fan, I prefer just plain tater tots, it was something different, my other friends raged about how good it was.  My daughter ordered the tonkatsu udon noodles ($6) which was filling for her, but nothing that took me over the edge

I LOVE how they have blended daiquiris and girly drinks (mainly because my preggo self has found a place to go to for my virgin lava flows)  Will definitely visit again to taste more of the bar food! Giving this place a few more months to gain popularity, and this place just may be the new Home Bar!

Yay, my first Yelp review after being a member for a few years, haha. This review is for yesterday, 05/05/13.

Anyways, after a long day at work the coworkers and I wanted to get a few beers and some bomb food.  We decided to go Aloha Beer Co at first but found out their kitchen closed at 4pm on a Sunday, whatevs.  Luckily my friend has been here already so he suggested we come here instead of our second option, Homebar.  We all agreed to come here since we were in the area.  Thumbs up for agreeing with him!

They have their own parking lot with tight stalls but lots of parking which is a good thing.  We came at a good time because they weren't too busy.  Went through the door and it was a nice place.  Atmosphere gave a good vibe.  Darts in the front, Pool table in the back.  Lots of tables in between.

Great service! Our waitress was very friendly although I didn't catch her name.  She constantly checked up on us which was nice.  Prices are decent for the amount of food they give.  We had the Kim Chee Fried Rice which was bomb! Probably one of the best ones i've had.  The Truffle Mac & Cheese Poppers were super yummy.  Definitely can't go wrong with comfort food.  Highly recommend getting them both.  The Calamari was nothing special but it was still good.  Our beer was less than $5 each with no tax.  I definitely wanna try their Sojus next time along with the other specialty drinks they have.  Oh and I wanna try the other food items that was listed in previous posts.  Overall, we had a great first experience!  Most definitely bringing my boyfriend here for my next visit!

You know the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover?" Well, that saying fits well here. I became really interested in this place after reading a few reviews from fellow yelpers since they seemed to like it. Even though I kind of knew what to expect, I was still surprised at how decent this placed turned out to be. They are fairly new and haven't even had their grand opening yet, which will be on April 24th 13. Okay, let's breakdown my experience. First:

The LOCATION can be tricky to find. They are located on the right side of  Waikamilo Street heading toward the ocean right after colburn street. Right after Midas auto.  Their sign is white which is lit up at night.  We almost drove past them the first time. Since we arrived around 8:30, there was still a decent amount of

PARKING. However, when we left 4 hours later (12:30AM) the parking lot was a mess. The parking lot has roughly about 48 stalls or so. When that's full, cars will start to double park. Probably because street parking here can be risky. Underdogs will announce over a PA or something telling you to move your car if your blocking someone. Parking here is also very tight. Tighter than a ........................... Once we got inside:

The ENVIRONMENT was very nice. It reminds me somewhat of a smaller Home B&G.  Probably around half the size. They have about 5 dartboards and a pool table. Bathrooms are clean (for now at least) Tip - You can call to reserve a table but shhh don't tell anyone, it's a secret. I want to  keep reserving tables at the last minute like I did for this time.

FOOD and DRINKS here are very good. There were 8 of us and between us we got to try the:

Truffle Mac and Cheese - This was one of better dishes of the night. They make theirs into big balls that were full of creamy goodness. They looked so appetizing that I wanted to stuff the entire ball into my mouth but it was too big and wouldn't fit.

Dynamite Chicken - Do you like dynamite sushi? Yes? Then try this, it's awesome.

Pesto Pizza - I was very impressed with their pizza. Thin crispy crust with strong pesto flavor that matches well with the cheese.

Kimchee Fried Rice - Yes, I know that dish is seen everywhere and yes, it's just as good. Get it if your a fan.

The drinks here are the usual stuff that most bars have except.. they serve FLAVORED SOJU and they are cheaper then cafe duck butt. The price for a bottle is around 13 I think, which is cafe duck butts prices on happy hour only.  If you never tried flavored soju yet then it's a must try. You will get hooked and drunk..or drunk then hooked. What I am trying to say is that it's potent but you don't taste much of the alcohol.

SERVICE here was not the same for everyone in our party. We were all paying separate and I personally did not have any problems. However, one of my friends claims he was not getting the same service. Since this is my review on my experience than I will personally say that the service was good. We pretty much had one server for 8 of us so IMO she did a pretty good job handling most of us. To be fair though, the place wasn't fully packed of our first 2 hours there. I am not sure when his service started going bad but if it was within the first 2 hours then I could totally understand his frustration.

Overall, I think this place has the potential to be a great place but since they are new, they still need to iron some kinks but I would totally come here again.

This bar really is the Home Bar of Kalihi!

I was so excited to try this place out when I heard that the food at this new Kalihi bar was being compared to Home Bar.  We all know how awesome Home Bar's food is, and this place is comparable if not exceeding delicious!

    Standouts:

    1. PORK AND TOTS - $9 - <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/underdogs-sports-bar-and-grill-honolulu-2?select=d_8jOMxTHPRUwy6BvPiU6Q#d_8jOMxTHPRUwy6BvPiU6Q">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>
As delicious as Home Bar's tater tot nachos, but this place kicks it up a notch!  Tater tots mixed with sweet sauteed onions, eggs (scrambled/sunny side up), and smoked pork with garlic soy sauce that brings so much more flavor to this dish than normal tater tot nachos!

    2. MELONA COCKTAIL - $6.50
One of the best drinks I've ever had!  The melona flavor completely masks all alcohol taste, yet there's definitely something in there that's "effective" as my face was getting warm after a couple...Tastes just like a melted melona bar!

    3. DYNAMITE CHICKEN - $8
Pieces of fried chicken tossed in ponzu, topped with mayo, dynamite sauce, bonito flakes, furikake, and green onions.  For $8 one order came with a TON!  Delicious chicken for a delicious value!

All the other food we tried was pretty darn good too.  Truffle mac and cheese poppers, kalua pork quesadillas, buffalo chicken, fries...you can't really go wrong with anything you order here! (so far I think, haha)

    Truffle poppers - <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/underdogs-sports-bar-and-grill-honolulu-2?select=d_8jOMxTHPRUwy6BvPiU6Q#rXBD0zYwQwWntyqRELvlug">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>

Shoutout to our waitress, Pamela, who was awesomeee!  She made us feel comfortable yet still making sure to check on us from time to time, and not so much where it gets annoying.

They have karaoke later at night, but it's restaurant style where it's a couple mic's for a single screen for the whole bar.  EVERYONE can hear the singers, hahaha.  Quite entertaining when the middle aged men who frequent here get drunk and start singing love ballads!

Dart boards and a pool table available too!

    Great expectations

Reputable Yelpers have dined here, had cocktails here, maybe played a round of Pool or a game of darts.

Friday night..on my way home, I figure I'd give this place a try. It's 6:15 pm or so and it looked crowded but not really. Tables were open, seats at the bar was available, so we grab a seat at the bar.

Order of chicken gizzards and Mac and cheese truffle balls ordered. Next question was what scotch sat in the well. Answer? No scotch in the well. What? No scotch in the well? Okay, I order a Heineken.

Happy hour beer prices- miller light= $2.25, Heineken= $3.50 scotch and soda= $5.00 ( remember, these are happy hour prices....)

While the fried texture of the Mac and cheese balls were good, it seemed as if they were pre fried and sat under some warmer because we got our order at room temperature. The chicken gizzards were diced into little pieces then breaded then deep fried, which is probably why the batter took center stage (more batter than gizzard).

If I had to rate this place on food and drink, I'd probably give them 3 stars. Their cocktail servers earned them an additional star; but then, they are new... maybe in a little while, the bugs of a new operation will be worked out. That said, it will be a while but I may stop in again...

Most people will shun this hidden gem just for the pure fact that its not in the trendy part of town.  Nestled away in the blue collar jungle of Kalihi lies a new watering hole with all the bells and whistles of a luxury automobile but without the pretentiousness.  Great pupus like the pork and tots, mac and cheese balls, and dynamite chicken add to the already jolly ambiance of their $2.50 domestic and $3.50 import laden happy hour.  The only concern would be the parking but where there is a will there is a way.  My advice, stay away you trendy town hoards and let the working man have this one.  Definitely a diamond in the rough.

    It's all about the food.
The bar is cranking and the prices are low.
We ordered the Mac & Cheese Truffle Balls (very good). Pizza was interesting.
    Service was attentive.

HOME Bar Tater tots who? You know you've had'em, you go to HOME Bar and you order the tots because, well cuz they're F*KING awesome - everyone orders them and even when you got friends from out of town, you take them to the HOME bar cuz they're sooooo delicious. The TOTS are even the photo for the HOME bar on Yelp! But guess what? Five words knock those tots out of the top spot: Truffle Mac and Cheese Balls (TMCB).

The GOOD: TMCB was killer. Not what I was expecting - I was thinking they were going to be a hard, nasty, dry noodle clusterf'k, but to my surprise - GOOEY, creamy delicious. They come stacked, sitting in a pool of marinara sauce, truffle oil and jalapenos - creating an amazing fiesta in your mouth. Next up: Yokisoba noodles topped with tonkatsu. Savory noodles with a good amount of chew. The smoked meat is used to create an oil which everything is fried in giving the whole dish a very flavorful punch. Finally, the pork chops. OMG-Amazing surprise from the pork chops. Honestly I thought this was going to be a disappointment, I thought one chop was going to come out on a bed of cabbage and ruin the night. TO MY SURPRISE: two massive 1 inch think pork chops come out, sliced up with sautéed onions and mushrooms and a small cup of spicy ketchup - it was a huge serving which tasted like a Paula Deen special (because their was a delicious butter flavor from the onions and shrooms).

The BAD: Drinks. Now, I try to be fair and always include the good and the bad in every review - so, drinks are the end of the world - they were just the 'worst' part of the night. So what happened was - I ask our server, what you got on tap? She lists off a small list of 'light' beers... umm, okay... so just to get it over with I say I'll take a Coors Light. She comes back with a bottle. #Fail. However, our rather young waitress came back later on in the night and apologized for not know what "on tap" meant, or what a "draft" was. The bar only has bottles and the waitress was new to ... serving. No harm no foul, she was a good sport, and she got an awesome tip anyway.

Another "BAD" that I was kind of 'eh' about was the Karaoke. There isn't a separate room - people just belt out classics right there in the same room as where you are dining... kind of a bummer and loud, but not a completely horrendous thing - I survived. I can only imagine that when this place gets packed, it may get uncomfortable for the easily startled.

On a side note: Looking back at my pictures, I noticed our table only received 5-TMCB. However, I see other people that took pictures of their TMCB and it seems like they all got more... so maybe it's a consistency thing or maybe it was a promotional time when they first opened - whatever it is, I hope it stabilizes and a set number is given every time, or else I could see that being a negative later on.

OVERALL: You MUST eat here and enjoy the TMCB. They are simply magical and while you are there, stuff your face with the pork chops because they are heaven sent as well. The service was fine and during my visit the bar was rather empty (Wednesday night at 9pm); which was probably a good time to have a somewhat quiet time with your friends. EAT HERE. You will not be upset... unless you hate tasting amazing food.

    Whoa!

    Bar food...HECK YEAH!!

Came in after a CMYE Movie event at Dole and this was the perfect place to go. Conveniently located near the theater, Richard K and I head down there for some great food and drinks.

Al, is a shoe in for "the best bartender in the world" category. Hooking up some delicious cocktails, we definitely enjoyed our night!

Kalua Pork Quesadillas are to die for!!!

Truffle Mac & Cheese is money...add the squeeze of lemon and it is something you better not miss out on.

Going back for the UYE next week for sure! Oh, yeah...I kinda have to...Im co-hosting it with RussKar!

Who's been here!?  Nobody yet.  When you are on the way to airport and don't know where to pause; go to Underdogs.

They want to do food like Home Bar and have a chef who spends his other time cooking at Halekulani!  His food is simple, and good.  Big Pork chops ala Side Street, but not deep fried.  I hear they do a great Rib eye, pupu style too.  Will return to try more when thefacist  airport attendants say 'go around again,' I might make the arriving passengers taxi to Underdogs, where I can wait and grind and sip my cocktail!

I heard about this new bar from a coworker of mine and decided to check it out after work with some buddies. It's located like 5 minutes away from our work place so it's convenient to go and have some pau hana drinks. We got there and it was their "soft" opening night. Parking was a little tight but a lot of spaces available. Walked in and there were several dart board machines and a pool table in the back. Also karaoke is available. It's a pretty cool place to unwind and meet up with friends! They have all kinds of alcoholic beverages available, the Shochujitos sounds interesting, will have to try that next time! But as for the food, you will be blown away! Best pupus ever! I highly recommend the Truffle Mac and Cheese Balls, Pork and Tots, Furikake Garlic Chicken, Nachos, Fried Chicken Gizzards (my fav pupu) and also the sashimi or poke...the fish is FRESH!! Oh, and the Fries are so ono too! The bartenders and servers are really friendly and service was awesome! You will not be disappointed! The menu has a lot of different types of foods, even freshly made pizza! Check out Underdog Sports Bar and Grill with some of your pals, it's a chill place to kick back! Don't forget to bring your darts!
