It was a cold and blustery day in Chicago. Â Everyone woke up to snow on the ground despite the calendar stating it's mid-April. Â The sleet was disgusting. Â And all anyone wanted to do was curl up on the couch with Netflix and have food delivered.
Alas, some of us had pre-purchased tickets to the first night game at Wrigley Field. Â And were sick. Â And were dreading this game. Â And then a lil' wonderful friend popped by and got us into the United Club. Â
I never came in the Stadium Club, but to my understanding, the only thing that's changed is the name. Â You walk up the stairs after checking in with the SUPER nice lady at the door and enter warmth! Â We nabbed the last two seats at the bar and settled in, letting our frozen digits warm up from being in the 500 level way above.
Another plus? Â Cheaper beer. Â Bud Lights and Old Styles now hit you for $7 outside. Â In here you have about 10-15 bottles that are $5-$7. Â I opted for some $5 Bud Select and my wallet thanked me (the wallet gets hurt a lot at Wrigley every year)
Food too though! Â BBQ Chicken Nachos you say? Â Yes please to share! Â Sweet BBQ sauce and a scoop of guacamole hit the spot for sure. Â Much better than the nachos we were going to get if we'd stayed upstairs. Â Not to mention that cheese would have been frozen.
On a typical Cubs game day I would choose not to sit in here. Â You miss out on the actual game. Â It's just like watching it in any bar any where. Â But if you need some place to escape the chaos, or frigid temps in our case, outside, this is a good place - if you can get in. Â Otherwise, good luck to ya in the Captain Morgan Club.
Oh Stadium Club, thank you for your existence! Â This is the place to go when it is raining, you want a great meal, pre/post game. Â The staff (Libby, Luz and Jimmy especially!) make you feel like you are at home. Â The Chop Salad is a particular favorite. Â Don't miss the Sunday brunch.
We had our wedding reception here 6 years ago and everyone was so accomodating.
