Velour Lounge

Maybe the weeknight crowd on 10th ave is just that sparse, but this place was empty on a Thursday night. I was a part of a large group that had just seen a show close by and were looking to quench our thirst. Velour had proximity in its favor, but velvet rope for what appeared to be a dive bar....I was confused. Inside was pretty open. In fact I don't recall there bring stools at the bar. We decided to sit in an area that likely is coined the VIP section on another more popular night. It had its own velvet rope to keep the unwanteds out I assume and a few lounge type seats. $13 for a rum and coke....did that just happen at this empty dive/velvet rope bar. Oh well. We had great conversation and were grateful to have found a place where 10 people could easily sir together.

As I read through other reviews I realize that this is supposed to be more of a lounge or club....though it's very small. I still stick to my review.

Little tiny lounge.  Not bad but I would have liked a coat check since the event I attended had a ton of people & if I hadn't attended with a lot of people I know, I would have felt uncomfortable just laying my stuff down unattended.  Other people even expressed this concern when I spoke to them.

Decor was very nice.  Drinks are also pricey but it is Manhattan so there you go.  I'm also not crazy about the very far distance from the subway & from our experience trying to get a cab for someone, it doesn't seem you'll have good luck in getting one from here.  It most certainly is "in the middle of nowhere" though not far from Marquee.

This may be a better venue for smaller groups.

I had what was suppose to be a birthday celebration at this place on August 31, and let me say it was miserable. There was no crowd the only people there was my group of Friends. this was on a Friday might I add. The food was horrible, 30 for food only in total. The food was microwave nothing freshly cooked. There was suppose to be a Dj who played my playlist they didn't do that, I was also suppose to get birthday shout outs all night and once again nothing. The guy kept rushing me to get my cake I have no idea why. What I can't figure out is how is there no crowd on a Friday night. This place may be good to just come and waste time at but celebration wise in my opinion it sucked.
