Velvet Dog

Another great spot in Martini Corner... love the skee-ball and the outdoor area is a blast. They play good music and is great for groups.  Now on the the food, they have HANDS DOWN THE BEST WINGS IN TOWN!  I don't know what it is, but I can't get enough of the sauce.  Also, they serve waffle fries, that alone boosts their stars.  

Service isn't always great, but one shouldn't be expecting a maître d' waiting at the front door either.

This place has always been one of my personal favorites.  I don't get here enough but when I do its always good.  Sometimes better than others but always good.  Modern loungy feel to it, good summer patio w/ outdoor bar, and skee-ball.

Just did my 31st birthday here and had a blast - dead Sunday night was able to have a great time staying thoroughly entertained  playing skee-ball, drinking cheap drinks, and rocking the jukebox.

I've been to the Velvet Dog a few times. One of which was a happy hour with Freelancers Exchange of Kansas City, once for dinner/drinks and most recently for the KC Zombie Crawl. I like the Velvet Dog! They have great specials and their space is unique and well-kept. I enjoyed the outdoor "patio" area out back. I feel like the patio area and the bar itself has two different feels to it, depending on mood, company, etc. They have a skeeball machine and a tv at the bar to watch people doing karaoke from the other room so there's plenty of entertainment. It was just a pretty mediocre experience, nothing special or exciting aside from the decor. Drinks were standard, food wasn't anything great but tolerable. I'd probably stumble back in here some day!
