I used to stop by this bar regularly about 10 years ago. I stoped by 4 years ago and talked to Michelle the owner and have not been ther since . When I stopped by this week Michelle greeted me by name and asked about my family by there names Is is an great hangout with lots of choices for live music.
Review Source:Holy dive bar! Â I can't believe it has taken me so long - five years - to go to Davey's. Â I have been missing out on a great place to drink and listen to music.
I can see where it would be termed as a "dive" place but it isn't dirty. Â I have been to filthier places in town and this wasn't one of them. Â But, I didn't use the restroom so maybe that's the yuck part. Â
Regardless, we were there to listen to two bands. I had a great time at the front bar drinking and waiting for the shows to start. Â The whiskey was priced well with the "Davey's heavy handed pour" as I was told. Â The beer too. Â All served by a really friendly bartender.
Davey's presented me with a great first impression. Â I look forward to going back, soon.
I went there for a Weirdo Wednesday. Amy would be the only person to get me to go to Davey's. Cause, if there's EVER a question, or definition of DIVE, this is it.
I generally like divey places, cause there's a certain, ugh, charm. Davey's is it. This is my second time going. Heck, it's so comfortable I might become a regular. I like Davey's. It's dirty. in fact, filthy. It's dark. The backroom is old, beat. It could've served as one of those old open word beatnik haunts. Atleast this is what it feels like. In Kansas City there's a few places like this. They can't be denied. Yet Davey's is probably more of what some would term, "a joint." Â or "a barroom." Â Davey's is meant to look like this. Granted, I've never gone to the bathroom there. I imagine it's self defining.
A place like Davey's has it's purpose, in this case, Weirdo Wednesday which has been going on for ions. When I was there, the Magical Meatball was serving in house. It seemed appropriate. It's a perfect location for a variety show such as this.
I like Davey's and I feel comfortable, but haven't gotten the nerve to go there by myself. The tables are small, with mostly bar stool, albeit, old, bar stools. The front room is one bar, it's long, and there's still alcohol to go. Makes this place stick out above others. The crowd is great, easy going. The Wednesday people are usually the same crowd. I'll return. I'd love to be a regular somewhere.
