On the night of April 13, 2013, my friends and I decided to check out Firefly to celebrate a friend's birthday. Not too long after being there, we were rudely told we could not sit at a particular table. Thinking nothing of it, we got up and started dancing. Shortly thereafter, a bouncer got in my brother's face and told us he had to leave. As he was leaving, he was attacked from behind by that same bouncer. He struck my brother a few times in the face until my brother fell on the pavement, busted his lip, and suffered lacerations from the attack. I didn't hear the exact dialogue exchanged. Perhaps my brother had mouthed off to him, but rightfully so due to the bouncer's rudeness! Still, that doesn't give him the right to attack my brother in such manner. The bouncer then quickly ran back inside to change his bloody shirt and take off his rings before authorities arrived. Clean shirt and ringless, the bouncer placed blame on my brother. Because of the severity of my brother's injuries, we did not make it a priority to dispute with the bouncer as he had the support of the cops. We then rushed my brother to the hospital. He had to get stitches and is still bruised not just physically, but emotionally as well. We are all overwhelmed with anger and even greater sadness as we are left to believe that this was a hate crime because my brother is gay. I, nor any of my family or friends, will ever support an anti-gay organization like Firefly.
Review Source:how to rate firefly....?
my husband and I have gone here various times over the last 2 years and watched it decline. only 1 of 5-6 beers were on tap, their website has a menu but they don't actually serve food (anymore? ever?) and their liquor selection has decreased maybe 40%. are they slowly trying to close down?
I think my expectations were wrong from the get-go, which led to a less than stellar experience. I expected a Manifesto setting with great craft drinks and what I got was a dance club that calls itself a lounge complete with the drama and fighting.
I was happy with the place when I first got there. We easily found a table and the bartenders were very nice. The  setting itself is very cool with the low lights and a blue tint. They didn't have the craft drinks that were compared to Manifesto and when I asked he said they weren't doing that right now, because they were updating their drink list. No offers to make one of the old ones. I ended up with a beer and glass of champagne since we were there for a birthday.
The drinks were ridiculously expensive with Boulevard Pilsners on special for $6 - really?!  It was not busy  when we first arrived. There were a few birthday celebrations sprinkled here and there and the mood was light and positive that quickly changed as the people piled in. Once it got busy the fights began and the bouncers jumped into place.
I would not go back unless I read some reviews of stellar drinks they were having comparable to Manifesto and I would go before 11 when things seemed to slip downhill.
