Vincent is excellent! My wife and I went last summer and had a great experience.    First of all, the pork belly muscles are an absolute must!  While waiting for an outside seat, we had drinks at the bar (their bloody Mary mix is amazing). The staff was friendly and knowledgable.  We just went back with a large group for my birthday dinner and it was equally delicious and the owner couldn't have been any nicer.  If you're looking for wonderful food, drinks and a cozy atmosphere I highly recommend Vincent.  We'll definitely make sure to go back there again soon!

Great food and friendly Service. The bone marrow custard was amazing!  Only downfall is that the tables are really close together and the restaurant gets very loud with all parties talking. So if you want a private and romantic date then this isn't the place for you.

I ventured here for my bday dinner tonight.

To start, the table gets a mini baguette with a plate of butter, oil, and - get this - 2 cloves of roasted garlic.  AMAZE!  Spread that goodness all over the bread, but make sure you don't eat so much that you're too full for dinner.

The battered seafood dish on snert was delectable.  Perfectly fried cod, scallop, and shrimp.  Portion was a bit small, but flavors good overall.  The hangar steak, served on a cutting board, was phenomenal.  Cooked to a perfect medium rare.  My favorite was the coffee-rubbed pork chop - WOW.  You really can taste the coffee and the chop was cooked to juicy perfection.

The only downside to our meal was that it was WAY too salty.  I love my salt - my husband often complains that I cook too salty - but I thought it was superr duperr salty.  Maybe the chef burned his tongue and couldn't taste tonight.  I'm still willing to give this place another shot.

The chocolate cake is essentially a reese's peanut butter cup in cake-form - obviously, with far richer and more developed flavors.  The bread pudding (sour cherry and goat cheese) was just meh.  I'm waiting for a restaurant in Chicago to start making creme brulee bread pudding.  Vincent, can you try?

Prices are reasonable.  This place was POPPIN' on a wednesday night - only one table wasn't occupied in the entire restaurant.

Can't wait to try their brunch menu.

This is far and away one of the best dining experiences I have had living in Chicago. I'm young and don't have much money but it is well worth it to spend the little money I do have here.

The atmosphere is cool and laid back. It's kind of like waling into the album cover for an indie folk band without the hipster elitism . You can tell that this restaurant is cooler than you but with a wink it says "I won't tell any one if you don't." The service is great too. All of my servers have been polite, attentive, and fun to talk to. I hope they read these because I want everyone working there to know how good they are at their jobs.

The food is expensive. I'm not pilling any punches there. It's tastes so damn good that you will not care. Having been three times to eat I have not been disappointed a single time. If you want to impress a date this is the place to go. Trust me.

Saving the best for last, I want to talk abut the drinks. Vincent has an ever changing menu of classic and modern cocktails. I am something of a cocktail snob. The bartenders here are very talented. Everything is well prepared and delicious. Nearly as goods as the quality of the drinks is the price. A cocktail experience of this quality will normally run you $14 per drink at  place like The Drawing Room and The Violet Hour. The drinks at Vincent rang from $8-10 and are just as good.

Spend your money at Vincent. It is a good idea.

Salmon was really good.  Short Rib was meh.
Service was average. Overall OK, but nothing spectacular.

My quest to try new brunch places continues with Vincent. I spend a lot of time in Andersonville and honestly never knew this place existed until a few months ago. It shows that if you're off the beaten path, meaning Clark, by just a few hundred feet, some people can't find you.

I'm glad I did try out Vincent though. Went there for brunch at 11:30 on Sunday and there was hardly anyone there. I appreciate that some people are willing to wait 45 minutes to be seated at M. Henry or wherever, but why they do when there are so many other options is beyond me. But I digress...

While waiting for my friends they filled my VERY large coffee mug and provided fresh cream. I liked the mug, because it was something I would use at home, not one of those little bitty mugs most places have. Overall coffee was good.

I ordered the corned beef hash and my friend had the smoked pork hash. Both were great, although my friend's sunny side eggs were a little overdone and the yolk was hard. I found the corned beef to be delectable. Super moist, flavorful...nothing like my mom's corned beef (sorry ma!) The only negative was the hash was "deconstructed" as others have mentioned. I didn't notice the glob of onion underneath my toast until I accidentally scooped it up, thinking it was potato, and ate a mouthful. Yuck. Too much onion! So always remember to mix up everything on the plate REALLY well before diving in.

A side note, the jam for the toast was super yummy. It was a bit unexpected to have the very sweet jam for my toast, but it complimented the very salty corned beef well.

Will I go back? Maybe, but I have many other brunch places to try first!

I feel the highest mark of a restaurant is how you treat customers when things do NOT go perfectly. Things did not go "perfectly" with my first time having dinner at Vincent but you could have fooled me.

We arrived a little early for our reservation (7:30) because of taking the CTA since we knew that parking would be hard near the restaurant on a snowy, cold night. We were right since several customers before us came almost an hour late for their reservation and were still at our table. (Now first it should be noted that although these customers came late, they were still seated and given a fabulous meal.) We were taken care of by Michal Bransford immediately upon entering. He expressed his apologies and found us a place to sit near the bar. Between his attention and the attention of every other server in the place, including the mixologist coming out from behind the bar to check on us, we felt very taken care of. Please don't take it as anyone hovered or was too much in our space. Everyone was just extremely friendly and hospitable. While waiting for our table I ordered an amazing drink (it's hard to find good bourbon mix drinks), Heart of Winter, and we were able to sit and enjoy our drinks in a really great atmosphere.

The second our table was ready we were taken over and since we had had time to decide what we wanted we placed our orders immediately.  Then we received some amazing bread with olive oil, butter and roasted garlic on the side. The service did not stop and if I was only going to grade on the service of Vincent I would still rate it at 5 stars.

The food gets an additional 5 stars. I won't go into the food because I know their menu changes regularly and I don't want you to get your hopes up for something they won't have. I will say that if you are a fan of pork this place cannot be beat (I have been there for brunch which is also amazing). If anything on the menu mentions a bone-in pork loin, order it. It was the BEST pork I have had in my entire life.

I feel so lucky to have Vincent in my neighborhood. If you need an excuse to come to Andersonville for a special occasion this is a GREAT one. I will definitely be back soon, even if only to say hi to Michael and have an amazing cocktail in the company of people who really know how to take care of their customers - even when thrown a curve ball.

i'm not big on writing reviews, but I definitely have to for this spot.

hands down one of the better places in chicago.  the food is great, everything they served was spot on.  Even the beer recommendation was spot on, also helps when the manager/owner is the one that recommends and guarantees that i like it, you know you're in a great place.

the service was great, just attentive enough that i never had to ask for anything but left us enough privacy to enjoy a nice dinner.

i hate to recommend this place because it means reservations could be harder to get, but hands down one of the best in chicago.  if you're biased by the fru fru scene, this is probably not the place for you. but for good food and great service, this is the spot.  I rarely go back to a restaurant, since there are so many here, but I will definitely be a regular here.

I have to say I am far from a foodie however I know good food. I went here on NYE which I usually avoid going out due to awful service, pre made food, and small portions however this year we went to Vincent's! Everything was amazing the best dinner I have had in a long time and on NYE it was a win win for this gal. If you have not tried or been to Vincent's I suggest you go and truly enjoy. P.s the butter is to die for.

I love the waitstaff and the food is grand.  The cocktails are very good and change on a regular basis.  All of the waitstaff go out of their way to make sure you receive what you want.  We have come several times and met friends and several times as a couple and ALWAYS had a terrific experience.  One of the best cheese plates in the city.  It is a relatively small place so it does get crazy at peak times so go early on a weekend or go during the week.

Great idea for a date or meeting with good friends.  Bad idea for a bad date.  Serendipity my ass.  When a date is as bad as it was the other night, I am not sure why I didn't get up and leave.  Mainly because I had not yet gotten to try Vincent and wasn't going to allow a peter pan syndrome gal ruin it for me.  Even after the interesting appetizers and tasty cocktails the time spent on that bad date was no better.  Our waiter was informative and present in the beginning but he was hard to reach after the plates hit the table.  Also, his personality was way to loud.  If he could turn it down a couple notches, I would've been able to relate.

I definitely hope to come back and experience their brunch.. if I'm lucky in the future I can bring a good date here and wash away the taste of the bad experience.  Thank goodness I never gave up my digits.  Email is so freeing.

The food and the flavors are Dutch.  It'd be wise to do some Google searches of photos or videos on Dutch cooking.  I know some of my friends would not find this appetizing, which makes sense of the reviews either saying its 4-5 star worthy versus those that "don't get it".

I love this place. What a great neighborhood spot. There is always something delicious and new on the menu and the staff always treats us well.

And seriously, the peanut butter/ganache/sea salt cake might sound somewhat pedestrian, but it sooooooo isn't. I don't order dessert very often when going out to eat, and I make room for it every time. Honestly, it's one of the best desserts I've ever had.

Delicious food and a cute atmosphere. Absolutely worth a visit, and I will definitely be coming back. The Amish chicken breast was basically perfect. It's a great place for a date. You will not be disappointed.

Food is creative and delish! Ambiance is awesome.

    BUT

Service is HORRIBLE! We waited 45 minutes for our appetizers. They brought the wrong one. "Made up for it" by leaving the incorrect order & bringing the original order. 2nd glass of wine was NOT asked for, but brought. We thought this was "to be nice." The 2nd glass wine was on the bill, and we realized who was being nice by not walking out after waiting over 30 min for apps.  Us and everyone else who languished...

    Not sure I'll be back.

Almost 5 Stars?! I'm shocked at the hype this place is getting.

I've been keeping my eye on Vincent for about a year now, so perhaps I read too much into the wonderful reviews on Yelp? Regardless, my visit last night was less than ideal and it'll take a lot for me to make a return visit.

I made a reservation at 6:30pm on a Thursday evening since family was in town visiting. We arrived promptly and we were seated near the back of the restaurant. The atmosphere at Vincent is a little odd--you walk in and are greeted by the hostess and a small bar is nestled behind the hostess stand. The rest of the tables are in a connected room that has about 15 or so tables. This restaurant was DARK at 6:30pm, being solely lit by tall candles that were evenly disbursed along the walls and tables. It was a little tough to read the menu, but luckily the candles on our table gave off just enough.

The wait staff was very attentive, and our waitress came over a minute or two after we were seated to take our drink order. I noticed that they had an offering of some seasonal beer (Jaw Jacker Pumpkin Ale, anyone?), which is always a welcome attribute. After our drinks arrived, we put in our order of two lamb burgers and the squash risotto for our party of three. The waitress indicated that the lamb burgers take awhile to cook up because they're thick, but we were more than happy to wait. They brought out some complimentary bread and butter, which was surprisingly quite tasty! Normally I'm not a fan of the bread that restaurants offer to munch on before your meal, but the butter is what lured me in. The butter was swimming in olive oil and had roasted garlic cloves mixed in, which created a nice spread, and I had to force myself to stop!

The burgers came out about 20 minutes or so after putting in our order, and they looked fantastic! Although, as the saying goes, looks can be deceiving. The burgers were supposed to be medium rare, but these looked medium well to well. The meat itself was under-seasoned and dry, and I couldn't even taste the lamb flavor, which was a HUGE let down. The pairings on the burger were nice though, the feta reached a nice "oozy" consistency when it met the heat of the burger. The olive tapenade was also a nice touch, but it didn't compensate for the overall lack of flavor. As for the frites, they also weren't seasoned and they reminded me of tasteless McDonalds fries. The aoili sauce was oddly reminiscent of straight up mayo, which was incredibly disappointing.

The risotto was the saving grace of the entrees, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it as I normally don't gravitate towards risottos. The squash was incredibly flavorful and the rice was cooked perfectly by having a slight bite and not being rubbery. I enjoyed how the risotto was topped with a few pieces of thinly sliced roasted/baked squash that added different consistencies to the dish. Yum.

Overall my review breaks down as follows:

    Service: 4
    Food: 3
    Atmosphere: 3

Thanks, but no thanks, Vincent. With all the other offerings in the neighborhood I'll go elsewhere next time!

Easily the best restaurant in the city.

Amazing people, friendly staff, always a warm reception - and the food is always fantastic.

Tuesday nights have their fixed menu for $30 a person which can be a wonderful evening.

Brunch and dinner menu will never disappoint. Always filling and wonderful.

Vincent is definitely one of the best restaurant i have found since i arrived in the US.
The food combinations are inventive without being too much sophisticated, everything was perfectly cooked.
On top of that, the place is really cosy and the service is as professional as friendly.
I highly recommend this place and I look forward to going there again.

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon with one of the worse traffic jams on LSD and we were late for our 1PM reservation. No biggie though because we called and had it pushed back to 1:30PM. But to our surprise, we arrived to an almost barren restaurant. The three of us had all of the attention to ourselves!

As we were studying the brunch menu, we were pleasantly greeted by the chef and he allowed us to place an order of curry mussels with frites. It's usually only offered for dinner but he made the exception.  The mussels were the highlight of our brunch! It was made with saffron, coconut, garlic, shallot, and lime. The yellowy sauce made it appear curry-like. The flavors, on the other hand, were the complete contrary. Yet despite the subtle curry and coconut flavors, this dish is not to be undermined. In fact, we loved the sauce so much that we wished it was served with bread to dip with.

As for the brunch entrees, we ordered the dock worker, grilled lamb burger, and pork belly sandwich. The portions were huge but the contents were downplayed by comparison with the mussels. The dock worker came with a huge, freshly baked croissant and it was magnificent! The grilled lamb burger didn't have any other flavors to it other than being gamey. Although I love how it was served with frites! The pork belly sandwich wasn't as tender and juicy as I had anticipated.

In summary, each of the three dishes contained enough calories and fat to knock you out cold had you cleared the plate of its contents. Of course, being the frugal and health-conscience people we are, we shared with each other and saved half our dishes to take in doggy bags.

We left Vincent feeling sinfully pleased yet tormented by the amount of fat we had added on. It definitely wasn't a good idea to brunch with skinny jeans.

    Wonderful!

I visited Vincent with friends and had a wonderful dinner.  We had a reservation for a Saturday night and got to sit at one of the window tables in the bar.  I loved the atmosphere, dark and warm and inviting.  The tables were close together, but not uncomfortably so.

Service was really friendly - especially since we were talking and not paying attention to the menu - we didn't feel rushed.

We all started with the onion tarte (yum!) and then I had the lamb burger - AMAZING!  It was really delicious and nicely juicy yet cooked perfectly.  Perfect burger to bun ratio.  The bread/butter with the garlic was great to start as well.

I thought value was very good for the quality of the food, and was really happy with the drink list/prices as well.  Pricey, but not overly so.

    So...

    Atmosphere - 5
    Food - 5
    Service - 5
    Value - 4
No bathroom visit this time, but if it looks anything like the space, it will be great!

I had an amazing birthday dinner here.  From the special prix fixe that the chef put together, to everyone that came over to our table and wished me a happy birthday, Vincent pulled out all the spots and really made me feel so special.
Recommendations: GET THE SCALLOPS with the kabocha tart! that's we started off the meal and I wish we could've ended with it as well.  The scallop is seared with a perfectly savory crust and the tart is soft and buttery.
The gin/basil cocktail is fabulous which made it too easy to just chug down the drink a little too quickly.  The pork belly is so tender and are you kidding me, bacon jelly AND bacon vinaigrette! Never too much of a great thing!
Apparently while Vincent has a full bar, they also allow BYOB.  We ordered a bottle without knowing this but their wines are really good and priced very well.

Overall, one of my favorite birthday dinners.  Very low key but they really know how to WOW with both the food and the impeccable service.  Thanks!

This review is based on brunch only. On a Saturday. At 12:30pm. With only 1/4 of the restaurant full.

But with "service" stickier than the maple syrup on my $12 french toast, I might be apt to wait an hour for M.Henry or Tweet.

Vincent recently scaled back on its heavy Dutch-leaning menu and opened its arms to a more American brasserie-styled (and more affordable) approach. While I'm not sure how much this affected brunch - as there were both American and Dutch flares to the menu.

We started with drinks. A bubbles and flowers for me and a cheese monger bloody mary for her. Oh wait, we didn't really start with drinks - we ORDERED drinks and then we waited. And waited. Remember - this place is as close to busy as the Chicago beaches in winter. Oh but glory day, the drinks finally came (15 minutes later), like the sun in summer after winter snaps.

But the bloody mary was the wrong bloody mary.
So we get another. And no bread came with the cheese.

Then we order our food and when it eventually comes, the 'fingerling' potatoes are ore ida frozen cubes. NO JOKE. I - not one to make a fuss at a restaurant out of fear of what will happen to my next drink or plate of food - literally said, "These don't look like fingerling potatoes...." the waitress, appearing dumbfounded, says, "No, they don't... we must have ran out." We didn't get asked if we wanted a substitution and we also didn't get anything knocked off the bill (not that I was assuming we would, but after the drinks delay and the food eff up, something would have been nice!)

Every time we ordered (drinks or food) the waitress didn't write a damn word down. I am so tired of this, "Look at my mental capacity! I am going to avoid writing your order down and because of such, it will come out WRONG." Unless you're playing memory in the back, do me a favor and write the motherloving order down.

It was good food. I was happy. (But $12 for french toast? Thanks for robbing me.) But my gf summed it up nicely, "You know the cliche, 'Service can make or break something?' It broke this visit even though the food was pretty good."

To our server: Put your attitude away and take your notebook out.

    We came here for brunch.

The coffee is good, I think the waitress said it was Metropolitis. I got the corned beef hash which I enjoyed. My girlfriend got the salmon sandwich which was unbelievably  sloppy and difficult to eat. She probably only ate half of it and not because she is doing potion control. I tried it and I wasn't a fan. Kind of bland. Probably would have been better if they cooked the salmon, but that 's really a personal preference.

Staff was really friendly and attentitive. The place smelled like bleach, not very appetizing when chemicals burn your senses.

I wanted to take my dad out for a pre-work birthday bruncb when we happened to stumble upon this place. It was a hidden gem! I had this multiple meat breakfast dish that was incredible! And to top it off, my father tried the 'manmosa'and loved it. I had a champagne cocktail that tasted a bit like mustard, but still was oddly drinkable. And we got a birthday discount for him too and a window seat :).

The servers were also super friendly. I would totally recommend this place.

The good:  nice atmosphere and tasty, interesting food.

The bad:  very slow and somewhat impersonal service.

I suspect we caught this spot at a busy moment.  But we waited 40 minutes for drinks and then things were only modestly better the rest of the evening.  The people next to us gave up and left.  We should have followed their lead.

Oh. My. Goodness. After doing a culinary tour of some of the top restaurants in Chicago over the summer, Vincent comes out on top.

Food. The food was expertly prepared: innovative flavors, well presented, and portions that left us pleasantly filled. The foie gras was excellent. The tomato risotto was perfectly cooked. We had two dishes of mussels: the curry broth (a must try!) and the beer broth. We also had a dish I've never seen anywhere: battered cod, scallops, and shrimp atop of bed of snert. What is snert, you ask? It's the dutch version of pea soup - more the consistency of mashed potatoes, with bacon, ham, and sausage mixed in. Sounds odd, but it's delicious. For dessert? Bread pudding with brandy-soaked plums and caramel sauce. One of the top two preparations I've had. Ever.

Drinks. The gin menu (yes - menu) is out of this world, and if you catch them on a night when the owner is around he'll give you a tour of the rotating selections. Try a flavorful new addition to their menu: Dry Fly, from Washington State. The cocktails are just as tasty as the food. We had the Amsterdam (refreshing) and then a cocktail with G'vine gin and a pineapple shrub which was the table favorite.

Combine the phenomenal culinary experience with satisfying drinks and great service and you have yourself a winner. Vincent, I look forward to our next meeting!

Amazing food.  Highly recommend the Risotto dish and artichoke appetizer.  Wow.  It's also optional BYOB which helps keep the price down.  Great ambiance.  Definitely planning on going back.

Only negative: service is a little slow.  BUT since we BYOBed, we had no problem sipping on wine while we waited.

We came here for a romantic dinner for an anniversary and we had high hopes.

    2 second summary:
    Food and Service: 5 stars
Ambiance: 3 stars... romantic lighting, but Pearl Jam and other classic rock jams do not make for a romantic environment

    Longer Review:

The food and service was awesome.  Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Sambal Mussels: A unique flavor combination that's worth trying
Whitefish (special): Perfectly grilled and moist
    Risotto: Nom Nom Nom

The ambiance is what threw me.  There were candles and the lighting was mildly dim, but the music was not suitable for a romantic or even relaxing environment.

Will I go back? Oh yes!

My first visit was an accidental one, as a friend and I intended originally to hit up Sunshine for dinner. But this accidental one was not a bad decision.

The outdoor seating area right up to the street is adorable, but sometimes, you get a little exhaust coming to your table. That said, on a nice night (as it was when we were there), it was really comfortable. And BYOB with $5 corkage? No complaints here.

We started with the grilled artichokes and crispy pork belly small plates and both were very tasty. Of the both, I like the pork belly best, it was crispy (as promised) and the jam, frisee and onions were a great combo. I liked the artichokes but it wasn't my absolute favorite. The combo of grilled artichokes and egg were nice but I would try something else first.

For entrees, my friend had the special, skate wing, which was tasty but had an odd tart/sugary flavor. That said, she enjoyed it.

I got the grilled flank steak and it was delicious! They recommend it cook medium rare (which I prefer) and the combo of steak (with a perfect char and flavor) plus blue cheese, was really, really nice. On top of that there were fresh grilled tomatoes and pearl onions, so the combo was really great. Highly recommend.

We skipped dessert but I after hearing they have bread pudding (a favorite at HB), I would definitely go back to check that out.

    Overall, highly recommend!

This was my first visit to Vincent.  I was in town for a brief visit and two of my friends suggested we meet for dinner here.  Apparently this was a different restaurant not too long ago, but they seemed interested in going to try the new menu.

Vincent is a weirdly decorated restaurant.  The lighting and the glow-in-the-dark stick on stars on the ceiling could go.  Also, there were lots of 3M removable tabs on the ceiling.  Please take these off, you're going for a more elegant Vincent...this doesn't work.  My major, MAJOR complaint is the noise level.  This restaurant was so loud that I feared for the vocal health of the servers!  I couldn't hear the specials from our waitress and I had to yell to my friend who was only sitting across the table from me.  I fear he and I missed half of our conversations due to the noise level being out of control.  Please invest in some sound barriers.   A little felt under the tables, some sound panels on the ceiling.  Heck, drape some heavy fabric on your walls and that would help!

Let me get to the rest of the visit though:

The FOOD. WAS. AMAZING!  I haven't had a good meal like that in ages.  I ordered a trout with black lentil.  Honey, it was like buttah.  It melted in my mouth!  And the portion was HUGE!  We ordered a dumpling style appetizer that was unique, but very flavorful.  The boys ordered a hazelnut soup that was super rich, and so, so good.  The boys also split the schnitzel.  I'm not sure a normal human could have eaten the whole meal by himself.  This portion was even larger than my meal!  It was super-tasty though with some unique and SPICY flavors!

We split a chocolate pot de creme, which my friend said reminded him of chocolate jello pudding.  I thought it was good, but after that analogy...yeah, it probably was like a Jello Pudding cup. :)

Our server was great.  She was attentive and kind.

This was a good experience and I would return again.  I'd recommend this place to friends too, but perhaps take along a pair of earplugs and skip on the dessert.

No recent restaurant experience has come as close to making me feel like a welcomed guest as Vincent!  I sensed a wonderful energy upon entering as the decor is in good taste and the lighting is very flattering to both food and guest alike.

We went there to celebrate a birthday for a close friend, who also happens to be a huge fan of Vincent.  She had talked up the place quite a bit for months, so I have to admit that I was very hopeful before even setting off for Andersonville.  My expectations, though set very high, were not at all disappointed.

My friend, the loyal patron, had already ordered an array of sumptuous appetizers-some I would never have considered an option on my own-but feeling adventurous, I lapped up the bone marrow and warm bread and delighted in the mixture of tastes in the endive salad.  She had selected an excellent pairing of white wines to accompany our first course.

As I generally consider the wait staff knowledgeable when selecting an entree, I followed Nick, the co-owner's, suggestion and ordered the trout.  The taste was magnificent: the trout was served with lentils, spinach and so much more that I had no leftovers.

Because there were four in our party, we were able to share a number of desserts, all of which were so different yet delectable!  I have to say that I have never tasted a more rich bread pudding anywhere on the globe.  It was truly decadent and something I would make the trip just to order!

The array of wines and digestives naturally added to the dining experience, and I look forward to visiting Vincent again in the future.  It's a lovely place to go for either an intimate dinner or special occasion.

I wanted to love this place so much, but since my main courses left much to be desired, I guess I will highlight what was amazing and just hope that if I make it to Vincent another time, that it will be a better main course experience.

    Divine:
    - Warm crusty bread served with a perfect chunk of butter, olive oil, and a roasted garlic clove.  It was simple and elegant.   What a beautiful beginning!
    - The service was excellent.  Attentive, but not too demanding.
    - I'm so glad we saved room for the chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse.  It was gloriously moist and the ganache topping and peanut butter mousse were the perfect complements without being overly sweet and overpowering to the cake.  I would come back time and again just for this dessert.

    Meh:
    - The Amsterdamer gin cocktail was weak.
    - The pork belly appetizer was just okay.  I know that I am hard to please when it comes to pork belly, but since every single upscale restaurant is doing it now, then you HAVE to up your game.  Honestly, it was a bit forgettable.  It came with a beet mash that was visually stunning on the plate, but bland to the palette.
    - The corvina special, like many of the other dishes, looked amazing, and in fact, the fish was perfectly done.  However, the sauce for the mussels tasted like broth and butter alone, and had no extra "gotta drink this up right now" love to it.  Disappointing.
    - Finally, the lamb burger was too gamey for me.  I know I ordered lamb, and I usually love the taste, but something about the thickness or the seasoning or something, was just off putting.  I ended up only eating less than half.

Because this place is so close to my home, and because of the great atmosphere I will likely give Vincent another chance, but not for a while.

So I haven't written a review in 5 years, but Vincent was so good last weekend I had to give it some credit. Blown away by the food, impressed with the service and extremely enjoyed the atmosphere.

My sister and I arrived on a Saturday night around 7 with no reservation so I was prepared to wait. The host said they would seat us as long as we were out in an hour and 15 min which I thought was a little off putting since we don't have a whole lot of control how fast we get served.

It's BYOB with a $5 corkage fee. We got a cheese plate which we needed a little help with ordering a cheddar, aged Gouda and a goat cheese, fabulous.  The bread they start you with, delicious. Got the late winter salad with beets, superb. And ended with the mussels in a white wine, garlic and bacon broth, out of this world and also served with fries.

A neighborhood gem I'll definitely be returning to soon!

    We love Vincent!

The food is always delicious and it's easy to grab a table if you come by early. It's a phenomenal value, with generous portions and only five bucks corkage for BYOB. We like to grab a bottle from home, get a few appetizers and an order of mussels-- it makes a great cheap dinner for two on a night when you don't feel like cooking.

They serve up perfect, crispy frites and delicious, juicy roasted chicken. Surprisingly, Vincent has also served one of my all-time favorite foie gras dishes (seared, with a spiced apple donut and apple relish) although it was replaced by a torchon preparation on our last visit. Basically, everything we have ordered here has been great.

On the downside-- It seems like they only have one or two servers working the whole place, which leads to a lot of little mistakes when the kitchen runners aren't sure which food goes to which table. You also might need to work a little bit for your server's attention if the place is busy. It's also worth mentioning that the parking situation around Vincent is a nightmare. It's never been easy for us to find a spot around there, even during off-peak times. However, I believe these problems are fairly nitpicky and certainly aren't enough to keep us away.

Vincent has definitely earned a spot in our regular rotation!

Great, great restaurant and dining experience.  I ate here last night with my sister and her husband and the three of us really enjoyed the food, ambience and service.  The restaurant is dark with tea candles, so very cozy/dinner at a friends house feel.  There is music playing, actually pretty loud, but it works out very nicely.  You dont have to raise your voice, but you also dont have to hear what the table next to you is talking about.  We dont generally get out to andersonville, but this place made us reconsider.  The host was both charming and amusing and brought us a "gay pigeon" (a cocktail) promptly and told us a funny little back story about the drink. I had "the amsterdamer" and it was the clear winner -- very nicely crafted. We also brought a bottle of wine (they have a byob option) and enjoyed that after.

The waitress was very conversational (in an appropriate way, not over the top) and sat down with us at the beginning of the meal and told us about the food with incredible passion.  She led us in the direction of the cheese plate, a summer salad, the mussels and the ruby cod.  We split everything. All were fabulous though I have to say the cheese plate was a true winner.  Four cheeses were served with hot, fresh french bread and it was a real treat.

I will definitely be back with friends, for a date night, or with family again.  I love everything about this place and want more people to get in there to experience it!

It seems Andersonville has established itself as probably the most charming neighborhood in Chicago. It surely is one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite thanks to it's bounty of sophisticated eateries, trendy gastropubs, excellent cheap ethnic eats, beautiful brunch spots, and darling boutiques. No need to stay in the confines of the downtown area to experience the world class components of our city. Head north to Vincent.

The size, set up and beautiful decor reminds me of something you would find in the West Village of NYC. Quaint yet modern, cozy and romantic thanks to the abundance of lit candles. Additionally, the patrons ooze that big city sophistication. The bar area surely is a stunner (although small) and serves up some beautifully crafted cocktails, even though Vincent is BYOB.

The food (New American with Dutch influence) was beautiful, tasty, and expertly prepared. It seems they change the menu offerings slightly in accordance with the seasons. I tried the Rabbit pate (a special) to start and the roasted chicken breast. One of my dining companions sung the praises of the lamb burger. The chicken was juicy and attractive in it's presentation and tasted accordingly.

I wish I had room for dessert...I can't wait to come back and sample more from the menu. The 5 different preparations for the mussels sound divine. The brunch offerings also sound very appealing.

Vincent really is a reminder of just how diverse and beautiful our world class city is; there are treasures to be found in every neighborhood if you are willing to do some exploring.

$30 Prix Fixe Tuesdays! What a deal. $30 gets you an appetizer, an entree and either a salad or a dessert, your choice.

The ghost of La Tache (when it was hot) lives on in Vincent. It was the Queen of Andersonville, John BEE's birthday, so time for some decadent dining - on a budget!

We sat at the gorgeous mirrored bar - now spotlessly clean - and enjoyed some delicious cocktails. Me, Bubbles and Flowers, a champagne and St. Germain concoction. Mmmm. Bubbly.

We repair to the table and strain to read the menu in the dim light. The sexy dim light!

For a first course, I ordered the Chef's Charcuterie, with an extra side of Chef. Well, no sexy culinary genius materialized by my side, and this app was slightly disappointing as well. There was no salami! When I hear "chef's charcuterie", I think of a nice, hard SALAMI! What was on the plate was head cheese (which I also love, and was delicious). The other two things . . . a sort of "sausage" made of kim chee, which was sort of weird. The other item - a spreadable pork fat . . . spread, was decadent and tasty. But, I was hoping for a nice salami. Nothing new there.

After that, I got  my salad, as I'd opted for that instead of a dessert. I thought I'd get my salad when others had their desserts, and get all European up on it. That was a little weird. Anyway, Caeser Salad with White Anchovies. YUM. Except there was only one white anchovy. Woe! The salad was good, if a little weird being sort of  . . . grilled.

My entree. I got the Cod with Snert. The cod was buttery, flaky, DELICIOUS. The snert was . . . weird. Sort of a dry stuffing affair. I had to look it up when I got home because I wasn't sure what it was. What it is, is . . . MUSHY PEAS! Which I quite fancy! Cod on a bed of creamy peas would have been delicious. But the snert sort of snucked. I just loved saying it, though. Snert! Snert! Snert! I'd wager that they'd be successful at just serving straight up Fish n' Chips, as their chips are GREAT!

All in all, I'll be back. Because I love the space, the staff is fabulous, and the overall quality of the food is very good. And who doesn't love the Dutch?

It's restaurants like Vincent that have me convinced I'm living in the wrong neighborhood. I've cultivated an appreciation for great atmosphere, food and service without fighting tooth and nail to get a decent seating time.

I caught up with an old friend over dinner here the other night, and was so glad we chose this spot. The drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. Per my waiter's recommendation, I had a winter shrub ($8) - gin and st. germain liqueur that was light, bright, and the perfect apertif to begin my dinner with.

It was a decadent meal - a foie gras appetizer ($15) came atop an apple cider donut, adorned with apple gastrique, salted pecans and apple butter. Whimsical, rich and a great opener. For my entree, I chose the steak frites ($21) - grilled flank steak, brown butter, lemon, aioli, petit salad. I also tried some of my friend's mussels, which were well-prepared and well-seasoned.

Finally, we split the beignets with bananas foster sauce to complete the trifecta of fatty, delicious dishes. I had absolutely no complaints. In fact, I wish i lived closer so i could visit more often.
