The most appealing part of this place was the fact that It was a part of the best western. This was a very good thing since we wanted to dance the whole night and not have to worry about getting home in one piece after a few drinks. The salsa was new to me and the Hubby.. Luckily we had a friend there who was a former salsa instructor. He was gracious enough  to give us lessons... After I stepped on his feet a few times I started to get the hang of things and picked it up quite nicely, as long as I stuck to the basic steps, and didn't try anything fancy like "turning".. We had a great time! The music was on point! The band was great, but it took them forever to get on and they left as soon as they came.. All in all we still had a great time and the DJ kept things going... I will definitely return!
Review Source:I came to the West Gate Lounge on a Saturday night, looking for some salsa dancing, as well as hoping to catch a live band and an Eddie Torres performance. Â First of all, the cover was 20 bucks and did not include a drink or anything else. Â This is Nyack, a lounge in a Best Western located right off the highway - come on!! Â The woman who did a free salsa lesson was engaging and a good teacher, kudos to her! Â Now onto the bad: you need to come with a dance partner or a group of friends if you want to dance in this place. Â It was 99% couples, and people just danced with each other. Â The hostess seemed nice but could not tell the exact time the performance was supposed to start. Â We waited til 11:30 and left. Â Never again. Â I'd rather dance in the city!
Review Source:The owner and/or party promoter is so rude and awful. Â I had drinks, paid $20 to get in and paid coat check yet when I asked for tap water I was refused and not only that he asked me to leave the event. Â You shouldn't attend any event that he has. His name is Jimmy and he is not a nice person despite as a patron padding his pockets.
