The guy working the counter acted like we were inconveniencing him by ordering food. Â His command of English was strong though. Â Really had a hard time figuring how or what to order, the menu wasn't of much help. Â Ordered duck and pig, both were tasty and well seasoned, good portions, and great price. Â Maybe I'm a little unfamiliar with how Chinese bbq is customarily eaten. Â The meat was cold, no condiments, no rice, no noodles, no veg. Â We weren't even given silverware or napkins. Â We basically took the food to the park and got caveman on it. Â I don't know if its more of a lunch spot (when a more complete meal is available) or you're to take it home and doctor it up, but the food, in the context it was presented, was more suitable for some drunken frat guys.
Review Source:There are many places to have good Chinese BBQ in Chinatown so this is one you should try. Â It has been years since I've been here, and I think the owners are still the same for years, but you can order good food to bring home for a big family meal or get a take out rice box.
I don't recall if there is still a dining area on the 2nd floor?
I have been a patron of this place for years.  The BBQ pork is oh so delectable!  The roasted pork is is cooked where the outer skin is yummy and crunchy  - when you purchase a box  lunch to go, you get more than enough food,  the box lunch has rice, Chinese green vegetable, and your choice of meat.  Oh, and the soy sauce chicken is always delicious - and for those who like organ meats - this place knows how to BBQ the chicken liver!
Review Source:This is my first stop for any Chinese BBQ. I have gotten everything here, but usually grab the white "princess" chicken or some roast pork. I don't know how to describe it, but it tastes much better and fresher than than the other BBQ take-out options in the plaza. Owner is pleasant. Chinese is the predominant language, but using English to do such simple ordering should be no problem either.
Review Source:This review only speaks to the bbq roast pork I purchased here - definitely cheaper than the other places at around $6 or 7 a pound, but was not very good at all. Â The cha siew was very dry - they use the white meat portion of the pork here. Â It was not seasoned that well either and did not have a good sweet glaze to it. Â Overall, I would probably rate the cha siew here two stars, but the other bbq might be better... not sure.
Review Source:I've been a long time fan of Wing Chan, until a few weeks ago when I had some roast pork that tasted very barnyard-like. Â I'm not sure what happened... Â I went in on an early evening, asked for roast pork. Â They didn't have any up front so they brought a slab from the back and that's what I got. Â Quite a few pieces in that cut tasted very nasty for some reason. Â Now I'm scared to get roast pork from them.
On the plus side, I tried their BBQ chicken legs and they're freaking delicious! Â You don't even need the sauce that they give you. Â it's a hit or miss with this as well. Â Sometimes, there are plenty of meat but sometimes, there aren't. Â 2 leg/thigh pieces = 1 lb btw.
Someone drop me a note if there's a better place for roast pork please!!!
Excellent Chinese BBQ. I love to swing by here when ever I am looking to grab and go in Chinatown. Â The food is not only wonderful and fresh, it is cheap. Â The owner is a very very sweet man. Â He even gave e a duck head for free cause he knows I like the brains. Â ALSO- He has chicken feet! Â I have been looking everywhere for these.
So, yes. Â Tasty, fresh, AND a pleasant owner.
FYI- This is real deal kinda fair so not a lot of English flying around here. Don't let this keep you out. Â It's ordering BBQ, not rocket science.
You walk in and see the fully cooked ducks, chickens, pork, etc all hanging ready to be cut and served. EVERYTHING IS INCREDIBLY FRESH! They cut up the meat for your order from the body. The only thing is that they do not de-bone so when they cut the slabs off they still have bones in it. The chicken can be a little difficult to eat neatly. :) But the taste makes up for everything. You will not find a better BBQ Chinese shop anywhere in Chinatown!
Best deal are the lunch boxes, get your choice of meat over rice for about $4.00!!!!
We craved roast duck on Turkey Day, go figure. At Wing Chan, a whole duck costs $12.50; $13.89 with a good-sized styrofoam box of rice. And a good thing too -- eating in any one of Chinatown's restaurants was a nightmare at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving as every man and his dog was out for a holiday meal. Fast if no-nonsense service; great duck. The char siu pork was also going fast during today's visit. All in all, a great take-away option. Cook leftovers in hoi sin sauce with baby bok choy, and you've got a feast.
Review Source:If you have anything to do with Chinatown you probably have heard of Wing Chan. We come here for bbq pork, duck, roast pig, chicken....over any other bbq place in the area. It just tastes really good. The service is good. There are even photos on the wall with famous people who have eaten there.
