I've been to Z probably a total of four times throughout the 7-8 years I've lived in Columbus. Â It's usually not that memorable of an experience for me for some reason. Â One thing I cannot forget is their beet salad...mmmmmmmm.
Beyond that salad, I think I there are better Italian restaurants in town.
We recently had a little drama here with a reservation. Â Everyone was really kind but I think there was a lack of communication between some staff members there, which impacted us a bit. Â We still went to the restaurant and sat at the bar for dinner. Â The bartender, although nice, was a smidgen inattentive and we kept having to wave him down to get items for us (and there weren't that many people at the bar).
Our food was okay. Â I ordered some vegan pasta and the eggplant parm without cheese. Â It was really good--- although the eggplant pieces were really small and only four came with the dish. Â The vegan pasta (just pasta--no sauce) and eggplant came to me on two separate plates, which I thought was weird but it was okay. I just asked for a side of sauce and put my dish together myself. Â I suppose I should just be grateful that they even had vegan pasta.
I think the people I was with enjoyed their dishes a lot. Â So maybe it was just me.
Until recently it has been many years since I had dined here. I am now dreaming about my next visit! The service was good and the food even better. The Tortelli di Zucca was really yummy. The Caesar salad was okay; the addition of roasted red peppers is unnecessary and I would be happier if I did not have to cut up a head of lettuce at the table. Next time I will skip the salad and try an app or soup instead!
