Monday, Februay 18th  Our ladies group "The Mange Bella's" had dinner at Bai Khao. It was wonderful and every dish was beautifully prepared and delicious. We all complemented the chef and her husband on a delightful dining experience and we all will recommend this Thai restaurant again and again. There were eleven of us and we were even entertained by the owners charming six year old daughter dressed like a princess. If you have not eaten at Bai Khao please try it. Dad takes the orders and serves, mother is the chef and their daughter is the greeter and entertainment. What  could be more delightful?
Thank you Bai Khao,
The Mange Bella's
I like this place a lot. Their drunken noodle is so good! They are closed quite a bit, and often at random times so it's hard to know when they are open unless you drive over and see for yourself. The people are nice and for the most part their 5 year old daughter does her own thing away from patrons. If you don't like kids very much or a child friendly atmosphere, I don't recommend eating in house, they do to-go orders which is what I mostly do.
Review Source:This is our favorite place to eat when we are visiting my mother in Springfield. The owners, a young couple, work hard running the restaurant, are very friendly, and always remember my mom's regular order never forgetting she must avoid all peppers. They have nightly specials and usually ask us how spicy we want our food. I always order a curry in the medium spicy range and have NEVER been disappointed. They are constantly trying to improve their interior but honestly, as long as the food is good I would eat there if the walls were bare.
Review Source:Thai Cuisine is my favorite type of food and I have tried every Thai restaurant in the Eugene/Springfield area and Bai Khao is by far the best. GREAT food, GREAT service, good prices, VERY friendly employees and the restaurant has a good vibe. In my opinion, NO other Thai Cuisine in the Eugene/Springfield area compares!! It's so good I can't help but eat here 1-2 times a week. So if you like Thai Cuisine, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bai Khao..
Review Source:Our favorite Thai restaurant also. Â Pad Thai is the dish I use to evaluate a Thai restaurant. Â In the local area (Eugene, Springfield, & Cottage Grove) Bai Khao has the most consistent and best flavored Pad Thai we have eaten! Â Their other dishes are also very tasty, especially the curries. Â The drunken noodles are my second favorite dish here. Â Some people may not like the wait, but we have always had prompt service. Â True, the place is not easy to find, but it is worth looking for and the food tastes better than some I have had in Bankok or Chaing Mai.
Review Source:Our favorite Thai restaurant. The drunken noodles are excellent and the curry dishes are the best we have tried. We have tried 3 or 4 different menu items and have never had a bad meal. Someone said the food is too hot, but all you need to do is tell the server that you do not want it hot and would like it mild. They serve it mild, medium or hot. The owner/cook is Thai and her husband is the server. He is a bit quiet but he is friendly and efficient. We love going there and have taken visiting family and friends there on two separate occasions.
Review Source:So, we are new to the area. And I saw this place was walking distance to our house so we thought this could turn out great!!! Â The reviews were mixed on Yelp, but I am adventurous and thought to give it a try.
First, yeah, if you are not from around here, very difficult to find. Very small joint with around 10 tables or so. It seems to be a Mom and Pop shop with their young one behind the counter. Must have been a good day compared to other Yelpers experiences!!! Never heard a peep from her. Pop is taking care of the front and Mom cooking. Â
Menu is pretty small by most Thai standards. But it had the usual. We ordered Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Fried Rice, Curry and noodle soup. The Pop was very polite and attentive. Seemed to me he has never officially waitered before. Just not very polished. Never asked if we wanted anything to drink. We like to eat "Family Style" and it seemed this place is not set up for that? We got served the soup but no bowls for us to share. So we took turns eating it! Â LOL! The Mom was in the back cooking looking very stressed and not enjoying her work. I love to cook but I could see getting that way if I did it for a living!!!
As far as the other dishes go, they were good. Not great. The Pad See Ew was pretty good. As was the fried rice. The Pad Thai was too mushy and too heavy on the peanuts. The Curry was good...a little watery. I ordered it hot. It had a little heat. Should have ordered it extra hot. And the soup was good. Wife thought it was too sweet.
Portions are small. This is another reason I thought they are not used to people ordering "Family Style" like most Asian restaurants. We barely had enough food for 4 people where I would order the same entrees at other places and would have enough for another dinner for us.
In the end, would I go back...probably. It's close to home!!! Â But I think there are better places according to Yelp. I gave it three stars for the effort!!! Â Although far from great, I sense that they are trying!
So delicious!!! Â It's hard to try something different each time because I found a favorite early on- Eggplant curry with seafood. Â The seafood is very nice quality. Â They have beer from Hop Valley and some local wines (that's not all they have, but a plus in my book!) The service is great- we came on a busy night when the owner was ill (his wife was wearing 5 hats that night- cooking, waitressing, checking out, supervising and parenting- what a woman!)(I see a reference to that in another review) and have since returned to find a quick, friendly service. Â What a great Eugene-Springfield treasure!

Perhaps there are communities in Thailand where it is appropriate for a small child to swing a plastic bat and launch it at customers while they dine.
Perhaps there is a restaurant in Thailand where it is appropriate for the owner to scoff when asked what their best dish is and state rather hastily "I've had a long day."
Perhaps in Thailand diners pay for the opportunity to have attention starved children climb all over their table, Â swing from the beads that divide dining areas, and scream at the top of their lungs.
Unfortunately, I didn't find myself grabbing a bite to eat in Southeast Asia last night. Â
I was sitting in a restaurant in the backside of a Centennial shopping center  as a pissed off mother let her kid run the place to the ground while a Beauty and the Beast sequel played in the background.
People shouldn't pay to eat in this atmosphere. If I wanted to watch your kid I'd open a daycare.
We like the curries; hubby goes for the masaman, I picked the pumpkin this time. Even at medium spiciness, it's pretty spicy. Good, though, with a lovely scoop of steamed jasmine rice on the side. The chicken satay skewers are very tender, too; the peanut sauce is great and the cucumber salad is very fresh. It's close to our house, so though it's a little hard to spot in the strip mall back from the road, it's a good location for us.
Our problems with Bai Khao: Service is a bit on the slow side, and while the owners' young daughter is somewhat charming at first, having her watch our meal, play with our baby's toys (and refuse his requests to have them back), and ask us questions throughout dinner was a little stressful. I think we may start ordering to-go, although if the other customer's experience tonight was anything to go by, there'll still be a wait of approximately 20 minutes. Call ahead, maybe?
The best Thai food I have had. Â I have been to Thailand and lived in Washington DC and have not found another Thai place that stacks up to this one. Â Unlike one of the other reviewers, I don't think Kurayas holds a candle to this place. Â Kurayas used to be my only stop for Thai food until Bai Khao opened, I have not been back to Kurayas (or any other Thai place) since, though. Â The food is better, the portions are a bit larger, and the bill won't empty your wallet. Â Highly recommended.
Review Source:If you just want good Thai food and you like it spicy, this is a good place to dine.
My wife and I visited after hearing about it on yelp. We are both Thai fans and look to try every restaurant in town.
This is a mom and pop type of establishment. The mom appeared to be the cook, husband served and the child (3 years old?) visited with guests!
It sits back in an old strip mall next to a dance studio. Frankly, it was rather difficult to find hidden in a back corner of the strip mall. The atmosphere is not great...very Springfield. But, this can all be overlooked because the food made up for it. We shared the green curry and asked for the medium-hot version and it delivered. Like the establishment, the presentation lacked any aesthetic. Tiff and I, however, were just looking for good food that evening and we were impressed. It's definitely not a place to go for a romantic date, but if you are in the mood for reasonably priced 'home cooked' Thai, Bai Khao Thai is worth a visit.
I'm a little reluctant to downgrade Bai Khao as it was one of my proudest local discoveries for a couple of years. Â Unfortunately the past few times I've been in I've been a bit underwhelmed. Â The quality of my staple curry dishes is trending towards mediocre - not bad, mind you, but just a little more watered-down than I prefer and not spicy enough. Â The prices are still right and the service continues to be good.
Review Source:My red curry was watery, a bit too salty, and the small portion did not contain very much meat. Â While not completely terrible, I'm not inspired to return, seeing as Kuraya has the same prices, much better curry, a wider selection, and far superior ambiance.
The nail in Bai Khao's coffin: Â the water tasted like a swimming pool.
