Holy moly -- this place has everything! Â This is the most extensive beer selection I've seen anywhere in Seattle, and I can always count on them to have limited and season releases from my favourite brewers. Â The staff are really friendly and super helpful, always able to help me find something new that I'll enjoy. Â The only downside is that it's easiest place to spend $100 or more in under five minutes.
Since moving to their new, bigger premises on California Ave, they've introduced a bar with a great rotating selection of taps. Â That's right: a bar in a beer shop -- you can DRINK while you SHOP! Â This is the future, people!!
My oh my, I'm truly overwhelmed!
Finally got a chance to check this place out, and I'm mostly kicking myself for not doing so sooner. Seems like more and more specialty beer stores have been starting up in the Puget sound area over the past several years, but this one is a real winner for sure.
Stupid awesome bottled selection, as you might expect from such a place. But what really makes this one stand out to me is the large selection of rotating taps too - Over 20 when I came in for a growler pour. Considering that you can sit down and enjoy a glass too, this place effectively doubles as both a beer store, and a tavern - Dangerously awesome!
A true standout gem in the Junction area of West Seattle. This one is an absolute must for any beer aficionado.
What a great spot! They always have rotating beers and ciders on draft and they recently added wine. You can get a growler to go or browse their HUGE selection of beers, ciders, and a few other options from around the world. The bar area is small and comfortable and their windows open up to enjoy the occasional nice weather. They don't serve food but have a variety of menus from around the Junction where you can order takeout and eat at The Beer Junction with your beverage. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.
Review Source:Oh Beer Junction, how many pounds have you put on me? How many smooth, delicious pounds worth of fantastic beer? Every one has been worth it.
If you're looking for a bland tap list including the same 10 beers everyone in the state sells, there are a few such bars nearby. The Beer Junction is a place for people who love beer to explore new tastes and find new things they love. The selection usually includes several IPAs, a few stouts, some ciders, and a bunch of really unique rotating beers.
Make sure you also make it to some of the events. Each Thursday has a tasting from a different place. This week happens to be beer week, and there are different breweries each day. We've also seen the place crowded for "pumkin junction" in October and "barrel junction," which was just a good excuse to drink from a selection of beers aged in various barrels.
There are, of course, rows and rows of unique beers in bottles. Ask any of the staff members for their recommendations. They have never led me astray, and they're always friendly and helpful.
The ambiance is much quieter and cleaner than your typical bar. You can actually hear one another speak. Imagine that.
Seating in the tasting section has been an issue lately as popularity outstrips seating space. We hope to see a Beer Junction downtown some day so we can take all of our friends there. You know how people are about going "all the way out" to West Seattle.
Great selection, incredible knowledge, the new location has multiple growler filling stations AND a bar. Â Love it.
To the guy that was upset he was told he can't bring his kid into the new location...ummm, you rated them 1 star because they follow a STATE law? Â Really? Â I give that guy a negative star for stupidity (I'm also a parent, apparently I don't try to take my child to drink beer).
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. Simply put, it's heaven. Especially since they moved to the new location, with more space, more refrigerated and better organization. Morgan, the owner, is super nice and helpful. This place deserves all of the praise it gets and makes me proud to be a West Seattlite.
Review Source:Beer.
Yup thats pretty much it. When you first enter they have a quaint bar area off to the right, with pint and growler fill prices! I was a little overwhelmed by the set-up, but one of the staff came up to us and we immediately started asked questions,
Non-Alcoholic beers? They have a few...
That cray cray dogfishead stout? Oh yeah baby
What company makes that beer?
You got some cider? YEEE!
What about.... You get my point.
The staff member helping us was not snooty or rude, which is almost what I expect going into specialty stores. I prepared for the worst and I ended up with my brain yelling, "JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONIES NOW".
But seriously, this place is perfect for the new or adventurous beer drinker. I picked some *very* random beers out, plus You can even grab a cart and put your beer into a plastic cozy. You can drink beer when you shop for beer! Pure genius.
You can NOT do any better than The Beer Junction! This place is remarkable at how well it is run, stocked and the overall knowledge of beer is insane. We've been frequent customers here since it opened at the old location and we will be loyal customers forever. The new location has a bar and a lot of beer on tap, and makes this new location a MUST try! There should be a 6-star rating for this place.
Review Source:I was so blind to the marvels of beer, but Beer Junction opened my eyes and lead me into a wonderful, happy land!
It is easy to say that you don't like beer if you haven't sampled many different kinds and Beer Junction is the perfect place to do so. The selection is AMAZING! I have started enjoying lambics and sours, which are hard to find in a regular grocery store. At Beer Junction I can find all my favorite Lindemans and Oude Gueuze Tilquin à L'Ancienne. If you find the wall to wall cases of beer to be overwhelming, you might also try grabbing a beer on tap - they have a wide selection on tap, which may give you some direction toward what you would like to drink.
The tastings here are a blast. I only had to pay $4 for 5 tastes and they were LARGE! The man serving was incredibly friendly and put a lot of effort into describing each type for me. If you don't know a whole lot about beer this is a great way to discover new breweries and new types of beer.
The staff is really what makes this place. They are the heart and soul of Beer Junction! When I walk through the door, they always greet me and ask me if I have any questions or need help finding something. They are also incredibly knowledgeable. My first time in I was looking for beer for a friend who knows everything there is to know about beer - I asked one of the staff to point me to a strange beer and he chose a jalapeño infused beer. Perfect!
Do not come into Beer Junction expecting some wild bar - it is a lovely, small, local beer shop with great staff. Do not pay attention to the man who gave one star because he could not bring his child in with him. Who brings their little kid to get beer with them?! Parent of the year award for you sir.
Go support this business!
I could have easily spent all of last weekend in this ridiculously cool bottle shop. I'm not gonna lie, I was there to hang out with awesome people and go to the football game, but this was probably the highlight of our weekend. It's a top notch bottle shop with a killer selection but also so much more! Their taplist is 20 strong of killer NW beers and I wanted to test/kill my liver and try all of it. Â They have brewers in regularly for beer events. The space includes a bar and a few tables for seating, but we couldn't sit. There was too much to peruse (including glassware!) and the regulars were friendly. Also, the owner Morgan is cool as hell and will let you talk beer gibberish to him as long as you like. How can you go wrong?
Well, I very nearly went wrong. I lost track of my beloved Bird while he scurried to and fro with various bottles and chatted with the locals and owner Morgan. When it came time to collect him for dinner and other adventures I was prepared for a full standoff and possible tantrum. I was fully prepared to hear all about the great offerings and rare bottles he found and about how he needed just one more beer. Oh yeah, and I was definitely ready for the Puss in Boots eyes. I'm nearly immune by now. When I saw that he had covered the counter in bottles for purchase I lost my game face and immediately envisioned myself shopping for a second mortgage. But you know what the absolute best thing about this place is? They have really fair prices. My fears were unfounded. We scored a ton of wonderful beers and even had money left to eat and make our way back to Portland. I didn't even make Bird walk back this time.
When we "accidentally" moved from Seattle to Chicago for five short (felt like an eternity) months, we had several going-away parties, dinners, etc. The day before we left, we stopped by The Beer Junction to fill up a cooler to take to my new (now ex) coworkers. This was the only time that my husband actually cried.
Enough said?
This place rocks. I wish we had this concept in CA.
The Beer Junction has a ton on tap and re-fills your growlers. We were visiting family in Seattle and stopped by the Beer Junction 3 times in the week that we were there. I like the set up (bottles in the back, tasting room in front). It's an awesome place to grab a drink, catch up on beer news, and refill your fridge.
Note: Free parking in the back, no food service - but you can order from a variety of places in the neighborhood that will deliver to your table!
Beer Junction is one of the best beer stores that I've ever been to.
All of the beers are organized by style, and the staff is more than helpful when trying to find a beer or answer a question.
The front of the store has a bar with 16 draft beer available. Â You can also bring growlers in for filling. Â
Overall, Beer Junction is a great place to find unique or rare beers, or to try something new!
The king of Seattle bottle shops.
Not the first or the biggest, but the best all-around experience for beer nerds, beer newbs, and everyone in between. They've been great ever since they started out around the corner from their current location, but the California Avenue space really does have it all.
When you walk in, there's a big area with plenty of seating and a bar. They have 16 beers on tap, and by the time you read this, they might already have 24. They're always growing, it seems. They get great kegs--lots of stuff other places don't get, and they sometimes host their own beer festivals.
Past the tables are dozens of full-size coolers packed with all kinds of bottles, from little nips all the way up to growlers you can bring back (and redeem your deposit). You can also get growlers to go of anything on tap.
The coolers are organized by style, with a variety of belgians up front, then a shelf of new releases, then cooler after cooler of progressively darker styles. They have a wide variety of examples in most styles, with lots of countries represented, and everything from classics to brand-spanking-new breweries. You can get singles of bottles and cans, and there are quite a few six packs of many bottles and cans as well. The main thing you'll notice they don't stock is industrial mega-brewery offerings.
There's tons of glassware for sale, and other swag like t-shirts. The staff is incredibly nice, and thoroughly well versed in the beer industry. This is a great place to come try new stuff and learn about what's up in beer these days, and it's a great place to pick up rarities and specialties, too. They make everybody feel comfortable, no matter your level of expertise. It's also a good place to just hang out and have a beer if that's all you're after. These guys have become the cream of the crop in a very short time.
Bad mood made me a little jumpy on the gun...
Good seating and generally nice guys pouring suds. Â
The "store" area is cool- but just a tad overwhelming. Â 8.99 for Shiner? Â Sheesh...kinda stickin' it to me on that one. Â HOWEVER, I DID discover "Old German" lager which claims "The World Knows No Finer" on it's old-school label. Â Tall-boy six pack for 6.99- that's mah ticket.
SO in summary- I like
tacos
spumoni
the world knows no finer
The Beer Junction is hands-down the best beer store I've been to in Seattle. We get kegs from this place at work, after after seeing enough tasty kegs come through I knew I had to go check the place out.
It's basically a tiny bar and the biggest fridge of all time. I've never seen a beer store with more cold, ready-to-drink beer than Beer Junction has. Not only that, but they carried many beers I knew and loved when I lived in San Diego, that I had never seen before up in the Northwest. AleSmith, Stone special releases like the Chipotle Smoked Porter, Brew Dog Punk IPA.
The only thing that makes me sad is this store is no where close to where I live, but hey, at least it gives me a reason to get out of the house!
I could move to West Seattle for Beer Junction alone. This place is amazing.
Do you like beer? Â Find yourself within 40 miles of Beer Junction?
Then go here. I honestly don't care if you live in Juneau, Alaska. This place is still close enough to you that it's worth your time to check it out.
Incredible selection and knowledgeable staff eager to assist. Â Drink beer. Be happy. Learn why people who live in West Seattle love their hood so much.
Um, awesome. The dude who works here knows a ton about really obscure things, and they have an amazing selection of everything you can think of beer wise.
We came looking for Meade, boy did we find it! I've never seen this extensive of a mead selection before. After talking to previously mentioned guy-who-knows-thing-about-things, we decided on "Vikings Blod". Dude, this stuff is yummy! You can drink it cold or warm - heat it up in a sauce pan on the stove. Does not taste like your average stuff.
Now we come in whenever we're over on the west side, just to poke around and find something a little different. Thanks beer junction!
Beer Junction does six things very well:
1. Â Â Â Their selection is outstanding. Â They have over 1,200 beers ranging from local standbys like Fremont's Interurban IPA to more exotic offerings--including an impressive selection of barrel-aged beers.
2. Â Â Â They store the beer properly. Â Beer, especially good beer, needs to be stored out of direct light, upright, and cool. Â You'd be surprised how many alleged beer stores screw this up (Super Deli Mart...) but Beer Junction nails it. Â They even seem to have removed the lights from their coolers to keep the beers in the dark to prevent skunking.
3. Â Â Â Their inventory organization is clever. Â Most beer sellers arrange beer by brewery but Beer Junction arranges beer by style/varietal. Â This allows the thirsty consumer to zero in on the Baltic Porter section, the Fruit Beer section, or whatever and compare across breweries. Â Genius!
4. Â Â Â They provide data. Â Every beer in Beer Junction's arsenal is labeled with ABV, IBU, rating, region, and other vital data.
5. Â Â Â Their service is attentive and prompt but not invasive. Â The staff are quick to offer assistance but are happy to let you roam the cases, for an extended period of time, totally unmolested. Â For me, this is an essential part of why I'll be back to Beer Junction. Â I probably came in looking for a few specific beers but, I want to see the whole of what's on offer too. Â Variety is, after all, part of what makes craft beer so interesting.
6. Â Â Â Their pricing is fair. Â Some of the local beer stores seem to be a bit aggressively priced--especially with regard to trendy styles and breweries. Â From my vantage, Beer Junction's pricing is on par with most grocery stores which is pretty impressive.
Honestly, the only issue I have with Beer Junction is the location. Â They're in West Seattle which, apart from being a time commitment, scarcely registers within my mental solution set when considering locales to acquire beer. Â Though, that may change...
I personally do not like beer or wine BUT this place is amazeballs!!!
I brought my fiance here as a surprise date and he loved it!
They have SO MANY different types of beer, wine, and ciders! The guys are totally cool and you can bring in your own food to enjoy while tasting the different beer they have on tap!
Seriously, if you love trying new beers then go here! It's amazing!
I was so ready for this to be my new favorite hang out but the service is so substandard I don't think I will go back. Â There are other better options.
There were four employees and about eight people the Saturday afternoon I was there. Â The two guys behind the bar were really unhelpful. Â I was so sad because to me it seems like a dream job to talk about beer all day. Â These guys werent talking, they were eating microwaved leftovers and studiously ignoring all customers.
I had a pint at the bar and two guys walked in and asked what was on tap and all the bartender did was point up at the ceiling. Â The tap board is hanging up at the entrance before you get to the bar, so your eyes cant adjust from the light outside to the dim interior. You easily miss the board which in most places is located behind the bar. It was a total d*ck move by the bartender.
No one else approached me or offered advise as I looked around. Â I bought a few single beers to try but I will be going to Super Deli Mart instead.
Oh. Hell. Yeah! Â This place is amazing! Â Really love the new location and that they have a tavern license so us beer hobbyists can try out beers on tap, or perhaps just a single bottle before making a commitment to purchasing several. Â The layout of the store is roomy, easy to navigate and everything is labeled so you can find your favorites. Â They have one of the largest stout collections I've seen and the German selections are WAY more plentiful than other beer stores (year-round and not just at Oktoberfest time). Â Mead lovers will adore this place as they have a very large selection.
Employees are super friendly and helpful and offer information about current on-tap selections as well as upcoming events (weekly, if not daily, events here for beer releases). Â Prices are fair and I love that they even sell glassware for those who are collectors of breweriana. Â They even have growler "car seats" so you can transport your growlers safely. Â Very cool!
This is overwhelmingly and by far the best beer shop in Seattle.
I wish I could give The Beer Junction more than 5 stars.
They have over 1200 beers in stock, more than 20 on tap, their prices are some of the lowest I have found, and the inside of their new location is huge and super sweet.
They have a bunch of beers that I haven't seen anywhere else and they arrange their beers by "style" (Belgiums, Stouts, Ales, Sours etc)- rather than country or area of origin- which I think is super smart. If you have a beer you know you like - find it and check out the other beers on the shelf with it- you'll probably like those too (I like Saison Du Pont- it was surrounded by other Saison style beers). Genius!
These guys have the rare brews too......I was looking for some obscure beer that is very hard to find on the West Coast (Allagash- from Portland, Maine)- and was skeptical these guys would have it. I asked the guy at the front bar and turns out these guys have a couple of different kinds. He helped me find it and made some suggestions on others I might like. I got 9 or 10 new brews to try. They have all been good so far.
All this stuff is good and fine but what makes them the best beer shop are the immensely friendly and knowledgeable staff they have working there- and there are lots of them working there (there must have been 6 or 7 staff ready to help). Â They are fine spending time with you to help navigate their massive selection.
These guys live and breath beer. My kind of people.
We just stopped in for the second time at the new location. The build-out is great, he know has a bar, his beer selection has expanded, he (owner) seems to always be there and is as helpful as ever, and I just learned that he is now allowing people to bring food in! He can't fail and I love it! Definitely our neighborhood to-go spot to pick up a few beers.
Can't wait for his order of New Belgium's Shift to come in!
As of this review, 38 of Beer Junction's 41 reviews are five stars. I found that hard to believe, but decided to place faith in my fellow Yelpers and make the drive to West Seattle. After a quick visit and a box of beer later, I can say I think I've found my beer store of choice... and I'm glad it isn't closer to my house. Selection? Great. Willingness to engage customers? Great. Prices? Surprisingly reasonable. They even have a buyer's club that gets you 10% off your next visit with every $100 spent. I'm not sure if they realize this, but that's going to be EVERY VISIT FOR ME. Yeehaw!

This place definitely deserves 5 stars!
I've been coming here since it opened so I've seen the growth that has taken place over almost 2 years. The beer selection has definitely gotten larger; a wire rack was added to accommodate the selection. They also have beer tastings that draw quite a crowd. I've never participated in one, but I have come in to shop on evenings that these take place and they seem to be very popular! It can get cramped with so many people inside but this will be less of a problem when they move to their new location in the Junction (where the liquor store once was).
Besides the great beer selection, the service is fantastic. Sometimes I come in twice a month and sometimes 2 or 3 months will pass between visits, but the owner, Morgan, always remembers me. I'm really looking forward to their larger retail space and seeing the positive impact it will have on their business.
Seriously the best selection I have found. Â Locally owned, wonderfully stocked and reasonably priced...what more can you ask for?? Â I am a former porter/stout loving individual who has been reformed due to a gluten intolerance, so I had avoided the Beer Junction in order to avoid temptation, but alas, there are goods for the gluten intolerant as well! Â
Gluten free beers that are good, ciders a plenty and amazing selection of any and all types of beers you can imagine! Â I even bought holiday gifts for my clients and friends and family there...unique beers you won't find anywhere else!
Visit the Beer Junction, it is worth the trip no matter where you may hale from!
This establishment is one of those that over-achieves at its goal so righteously, Yelp really needs to allow us a 6th star to express its awesomeness.
The shop is small, but packed to the gills with insanely well-chosen, deep-cut craft beers. The kind of bottles that make the beer geek's heart quiver with joy as we scan the shelves. Â
I was visiting from Portland this past weekend, and stopped here because I wanted to buy bottles of hard to find WA craft beers to take back home...but I was floored to find lots of top-flight, hard to find craft beers from all over the US and the world. Stuff that I haven't even seen in the beer-mecca shops of Portland! Â I ended up buying so many, the proprietor Morgan packed up my purchases in a box for safe-keeping for the drive home. Â
Morgan was also super knowledgeable and helpful, without being obsequious about it. He just quietly shared his knowledge, plus some knowing smiles when favorite beers were mentioned. Â No snobby attitude here, like those you might endure when you visit other bottle shops in town, such as one on 45th in Wallingford which shall remain nameless.
As good as it gets? Sure thing.
I went in and asked for a particular request from the guy- Rasputin, of course, right here.
I was then treated to some information on a few other beers I inquired about, picked a banana bread beer for myself (don't judge, it was fantastic) and was on my way.
Seriously, you want beer? They got it.
