We so glad to get to see a wine bar in downtown.  Blend has a great atmosphere and a staff that knows and appreciates wine.  What makes Blend truly special is the food...  The new chef is inventive and loves to experiment.  The menu focuses on local, updates every day and we love it all.  Standouts are the short ribs with peaches glacé  - heavenly, the  BBQ shrimp and the desserts.

I went to Blend on a Friday night for my friend's birthday party. It was great-- the atmosphere, locations, and prices were just right! We were a group of 5, and got excellent service. The waiter was attentive (though a bit surly!) and took good care of us. We ordered wine, cocktails, and shared a few cheese plates. The cheese plate the birthday girl and I shared was delicious and actually better than any I've had in Napa, California or elsewhere! My gin martini was spot on, and the wine flights my friends had were reportedly wonderful. We also ordered dessert, which was great. The chocolate torte was the best, followed by the bread pudding. The birthday girl ordered the smores which she didn't end up liking, but the owner of Blend paid a visit to our table and took her suggestions for improving the dessert. He also brought us a free champagne toast! He was very sociable and nice to talk to, and that made our visit even more special. I really appreciated him taking time to speak with us.
I can't wait to try the roasted cauliflower dish and some more of the special cocktails! Looking forward to my next visit-- great location and decent prices with fantastic food and drinks.
The ambiance is 5 stars, love the loft like feeling and the upstairs area is great. The rustic wooden tables are perfect and it is spacious yet cozy at the same time.
Cannot say a lot about the food, because we simply noshed on some cheese and fruits with our wine. While the cheese itself was pretty good, the pairing with our wines was awful! We had 2 separate tables going because of the number of people and we felt like our table kept getting ignored for service for some reason, while the other table had perfect service! It was the same server and every time she just bypassed our table.. maybe she found us smelly??!!
Anyways, so she paired the absolute wrong cheese with our wine and I did not like having any of it. The cocktails were nice (when they finally made their way to our table - having sat ignored by the bartender for a while)!
Since I was with a bunch of people from work, I did not mind as much since we were busy talking - and i would still like to go back, only expect better service!
I am giving the place 3 stars because I loved the ambiance, and the wine (though awful with the cheese), was really really good..!
The food is among the best in Baton Rouge (try the popcorn!), the wine list and cocktails are high quality, and the decor is charming. Service is great. BUT Blend's atmosphere is ruined by the choice in music. I've been there three times, and heard the same soundtrack each time: Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox 20, Hootie and the Blowfish, more Dave Matthews Band. It's awful. Almost any other music theme would work better. Blend, please try some soul music, some classic country, some old jazz, some indie pop, something (anything!) that won't make your guests feel like they're on the front porch of a fraternity house in 1997.
Review Source:My new favorite wine spot! Blend, previously The Wine Loft, is a very chic space in the downtown area. The new owners have taken the wine bar and bumped it up a notch.
Let me just start by saying the staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about their selections and are delighted to help you decide the best wine for your tastes. I mentioned the reds I usually like and they recommended the perfect blend. My friends also sampled the mixed drink menu, which were quite tasty, as well.
They also helped us pick out a few bites to snack on and I have to say I wish I could have bottled up the homemade strawberry jam and honey mustard they served on the fromage and charcuterie plate, yum!
This was the perfect little spot for our girls night out, and also has a romantic vibe for couples. All around a great place to bring friends, family, or dates for a relaxing night out.
I can't speak to the food as I haven't had any of it, but the atmosphere is nice, the bartenders know their stuff, the drinks are impeccably mixed, and the wine selection is more than enough for my (admittedly pedestrian) palate. On top of all that, I found the prices to be incredible for the quality offered.

Housed in the old location of the Wine Loft downtown, Blend is MUCH less pretentious than the previous bar and the music is actually at a volume where you can hear the person next to you. They've also lightened up the decor, while keeping the intimate vibe.
The drinks...the bartenders actually care that you like what you are drinking. They'll offer suggestions and let you taste the wines you are interested in before you make your selection. Reasonably priced by the glass and bottle, with a majority of the glasses under $10. I also recommend perusing the specialty drink list - the Sazerac is one of the best I've ever had.
The food...I strongly suggest starting off with the Rosemary Parmesan popcorn. Its a perfect snack portion for $3 you can't beat it. The charcuterie selections are numerous and delicious. Don't miss the red pepper strawberry chutney that comes with it! If you're looking for something a little more hearty, go for the Croque Monsieur. Its rich and creamy and so yummy.
If you're looking for a glass of wine and a nice little nosh after work with a group or all by your lonesome, hit this place up!
