I had the most Amazing meal tonight, it was just like what My Mom would have made. Gammon Ham Steak with Parsley Sauce, Mashed Potatoes, and a side of Mashed Turnips. Can not get any better let me tell you..
Also had vegetable soup which also was very good. And Bread is always fresh, and served with Kerrygold Butter. Mmmmm. Yum I do love my Butter and Bread :)
I finished off this Amazing meal with a Generous Helping of One of the best slices of Rhubarb & Strawberry pie I have had. The pastry was so good, the filling cooked perfectly, not too sweet, and served with really good Vanilla Ice Cream.
10 out of 10.
The waiter also was flawless in helping us tonight, fast, friendly and Helpful.
Next Time I am trying the trifle! :)
My review may be a bit biased because I do love to come here a lot. Â If you live in Sunnyside or just visiting than you need to stop in. It has become my neighborhood bar that I frequent with my friends for drinks and food or just drinks. Â I was introduced to this bar by some great friends and made more great friends within. Â This is no sports bar but they do have plenty of tvs for catching any game of the season. Â Walk in by yourself or with some friends and you will be happy. Â If you're good to Bliss then Bliss will be good to you.
Review Source:This is a good neighborhood scene. Prices are reasonable and food solid if unremarkable. A dependable simple night out in a comfortable setting among locals. Beer selection is good and bartender has always been very courteous and quick; she's earned this place the fourth star.
Karaoke is popular here, though it ranges from a big crowd to, occasionally, hardly anyone, and I haven't noticed a pattern. Still this is the best public scene I know of, with just a couple of weird regulars and otherwise plenty of open space in the rotation, an extensive collection, and a kind audience and professional host (who has been at this gig for well over five years).
Karaoke is everywhere but how many places achieve a good public scene without getting wacko, dominated by one group, unfriendly, sketchy, trendy, whatever? This place achieves a nice middle-of-the-road.
"Meh. I've experienced better" is very fitting. Â We decided to try Bliss Street Station for brunch because of all of the positive reviews we found on Yelp. Â The food was BLAND. Â The burger was nothing special and the french toast was made from basic white bread. Â The home fries were raw, inedible and VERY salty (which is strange because nothing else had any seasoning whatsoever). Â Maybe we came on a bad day or the kitchen was slammed from the large private party that was going on but we will not be going back.
Review Source:I just so happened to wander into Bliss Street Station years ago, when I was just a young lad, poor and new to the City. Â It was dank, and full of old people - the two things I generally look for when I search for a place to drink alone. Â What I didn't know then was that this bar would become the epicenter of my social life. Â I have met many friends there, sang many a tune during Tom Saks weekly Karaoke night, and vomited many times in the decorative boot in the back corner. Â Liz the bartender is known among friends and locals as the quintessential bartender. Â Her Irish wit is as dry as the martinis she refuses to serve me after I've vomited into the decorative boot in the back corner. Â
Would I recommend Bliss Street Station? Â Only if you can appreciate a good time, a warm and friendly environment, terrific service, and you stay away from the Corona Lights - because those friends, are mine.
Been a customer of Bliss Street Station for many years. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The food sets the standard of what good pub food should be. The drinks are poured generously and the staff couldn't be more attentive. A definite  place to visit if ever on the Queens side of Greenpoint Ave.
Review Source:I have been going to the Bliss for years - food is excellent - I really enjoy their steaks and they do a great Irish Breakfast for brunch. Â Friday and Saturday Karaoke is very entertaining, you can hear some wonderful singers and some great efforts. Â The staff at the Bliss are amazing, you are sure to get great service. Â Liz Taylor has to be one of the best bartenders, she always makes you feel welcome. Â You can walk in as a stranger but you will leave as a friend.
Review Source:for one night, i was the happiest girl in the world at this bar. i spent thanksgiving on a four day bender in queens with two of my gay ex-roommates from cambridge. spending thanksgiving in queens, WITH queens? yeah, i fucking think so!
the two dudes we were all crashing with said this place did karaoke on friday nights, & it was pretty amazing. i pre-gamed this place with moonshine, threw up in an alleyway & still didnt get cut off. i was drunk enough to sing a carrie underwood song; THAT DRUNK.
from what i recall, the drinks were cheap enough cos i was loaded & i spent a lot of my money on cigarettes. so, they had to be fairly priced. also, the locals were really nice. after i sang, one man asked me if i ever had any interest in doing theater; but, im pretty sure he just wanted to see my boobs ... ive seen 'fame' before, buddy.
final word; so, help me god i will return here someday to again close out the night with 'no doubt - just a girl' on a table.
This place is terrible, the silverware had a disgusting layer of brown dishwasher waste water adhered to it, I asked for a clean fork and got a dirtier one. The waitress was not at all pleasant. She flung a menu and got angry when I said i wasn't having a (alcoholic) drink. I ordered fish and chips, which came on a small plate but looked like I was getting a huge meal because not everything would fit on there. The fish was under cooked, so they took it back cooked it further. I ended up leaving it behind but paid $15 dollar for a few french fries. Terrible service, terrible atmosphere and terrible music.
Review Source:My brother in law lives down the street from this fine Irish establishment. I particularly like Bliss Street because it is an Irish Pub that delivers the goods...Irish bar keep, Irish staff, and Irish diners. Nice folks, through and through .
The food feels like typical pub fare: burgers, fish, pasta, and the usual Irish suspects for entrees: fish and chips, shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, and the like. The servings are large and, generally, well cooked. I had their lamb chop special on a recent visit: the chops were nicely done and I loved what they did to the turnips that accompanied the meal. The salad was nothing special and we didn't have dessert.
What could they do to bump up the star quotient? Serve the Guinness at room temperature! I found it too cold for my taste. Perhaps they were serving it for American taste buds....if so, too bad. Serve it a few degrees warmer and all will be right with the world!
i dont know why i keep going back here! easily the worst irish food in the area , been here back in the day and 5 years on its alot worse ! always empty at lunch i wonder why ??
plainest tasting food and just all round dead feeling the place has im sure they have a good karoke night but this is about food and it sucks! it wouldnt tie cronins phelans in astorias shoe laces! if u want bland food and a pi**ed off feeling after wasting ur lunch time here go here with the other 2 people that eat here
So much to choose from when you order a main course and it gets a little overwhelming. I suppose that's what a real dinner is about!
Would you like soup or salad?
What would you like for the dressing?
How would you like your potatoes? Baked or mashed?
What kind of vegetables would you like for the side?
What did I order again? Oh, right, ham steak.... I just love that damn ham steak... I'll have a pint of Guinness also.
This place is real. It feels so real. So real.
Try the Karaoke night -- you don't have to sing -- and you might enjoy seeing your senior neighbors singing passionately to each other. Joie de vivre!
Generally they seem to NOT want new business and having lived in Sunnyside for five+ years they have a strong rep of not wanting anybody who isn't collecting social security or a member of the American Association of Retired People walking in the door.
Prob keeps the trouble outside as they are on the greenpoint side which is a bit tougher
The food here was really good, but I can get the same food at other Irish joints in Woodside, for less money. I had pumpkin penne, which was very delicious. The prices weren't really worth it, and I probably won't go back here, even though it's so close to my apartment.
Also they asked us to move tables when we were finishing up our drinks so they could accommodate a large party. I know this happens all the time at many places, but it still irks me!
