Horrible Service and not so great breakfast! The waitress i had was one of the worst waitresses i have seen i a while. Not even crowded. The food, 2 eggs bacon, toast, hasbrowns was ok
At best. I will never come here again.

Great location; simple but lovely ambiance; no wait to be seated.

Waited 16 minutes before I got up and asked for coffee.  Another eight minutes went by as my husband and I watched two other tables receive drinks and have their order taken.  Advised manager/owner.  He was very concerned and followed me back to the table and from then on, our order/drinks were expedited.  Food was very good.  Had the steak and eggs; the steak was cooked to order as were my eggs (many times "hard-over like hockey pucks" seems to be misinterpreted).  English muffin toasted perfectly and my husband said the  Farmer's Breakfast he ordered was great.

When we checked out, manager/owner and cashier were immersed in a conversation; never asked how the meal was and the cashier had to be interrupted to be asked a question.  There are a ton of great-tasting breakfast places in our city; customer service is what sets them apart, consequently the two-star rating.

Decent breakfast. Very busy.  Kid friendly.  Large.  Family owned and frequented.

I actually like this place. Its always crowded yet I have never had to wait on a table, they actually give you a decent amount of food for a fair price and I love the french toast....hmmmm I actually have nothing bad to say about this place.....

Yummy yummy. I love bringing my son here and the whole atmosphere of the place. Friendly staff, gigantic portions, and quick service. We usually order a meal and split it between the two of us due to the huge portions of eggs, choice of meat, hash browns, pancakes or toast. Most of the regular egg dishes (scrambled, over easy, etc) are nothing special but their frittatas are to die for!

Have only done takeout from here so can't comment on a dining in experience. I can say that our food is always packaged nicely, with all the condiments we would need, including jam, syrup, ketchup, and butter, included in a separate bag. My fave dish has to be the taffy apple French toast. Soooo good. Their portions are huge, so great to share.  I also like their salmon scrambler. So yummy.

    This. Is. Breakfast.

Fresh Orange Juice, as you can see by the juicer in plain site.
Delish cheesy meaty skillets, I got the Farmers (which had broccoli in it).
FLUFFY pancakes, double stacked with powdered sugar and maple on the table.

And their coffee isn't burnt or weak, with cream served in a tiny pitcher, not out of individual packets.

A bit pricey, but honestly, should be, because it is SO GOOD.

Now this I am a bit surprised to see it is rated 3.5 stars. I actually think this place is probably the best breakfast place, same as Egg Harbor, in Naperville. The service has always been good. Make sure to try the freshly squeezed orange juice. My personal favorite is the Mexican wrap with sausage and egg for breakfast. Other good ones include the egg white omelet and veggie omelet. They pretty much have any kind of breakfast you would want American style. Come and try it out! I gave it 4 stars because I personally believe breakfast should not be too pricey, but this place is pushing it a bit.

12oclock on a Sunday without much wait, yay!

I had the California scrambler, which was pretty good.  They have a good selection of sauces at each table, including tabasco green pepper sauce, yum!

This place only gets 3 stars because the pancakes are really average, nothing to write home about at all, which would be OK if this place wasn't a pancake house!  I've had some really spectacular pancakes in my life and this was really just meh.

This is definitely the "local" breakfast/brunch place to go in Naperville! On a Sunday at noon, this place was bustling---yet our wait was under 10 minutes:) REAL maple syrup, on the table is always a good sign at a pancake place! My friend ordered the Dutch baby, but changed her order when she found out it would take 30 minutes to make---she switched to the bacon waffle and declared it "heavenly". I tried the New Orleans french toast and was happy that it wasn't "sticky sweet". With grilled bananas on top of 4 small french toast pieces, this was a perfect sunday brunch.

We were out in good ol' Naperville for a wedding, and I was in need of a serious post-reception breakfast on a Sunday morning. Thanks be to the good Lord for Yelp & my dad's love of technology for finding Butterfield's! We pulled into a parking lot that was filled with cars, and I was a little worried that this was going to be a 3-hour breakfast excursion... however, we walked in, put our name on the list, and 5 minutes later we were seated in a cozy booth.

Fresh-squeezed OJ & a Diet Coke (well, the Diet Coke here is actually Diet RC, if that kinda thing bugs you... but I personally enjoy the RC, so whatevs) was ordered to start my morning right. I had the strawberry crepes with a side of cheese grits, and all was delicious. Were the cheese grits made with that fake neon orange cheese? You bet they were, and they were delicious. The parents also enjoyed their meals & all was well with the world. Hangover eradicated, happy & full, I could now go on about my day.

I leave off one star because the service is a little spotty... they are just so busy it seems that the waitresses are spread a little thin. When I went to pay I felt like I stood there for an eternity due to people placing to-go orders at the cashier (it would be nice if that was a separate register). Other than that though, I'd happily return to score some more breakfast goodness.

The up-side of waiting in line to pay for a while was that I got to watch the OJ machine do it's work, and it was so cute how they let the little kids go up and put the oranges in... I would have rocked that out if I was a 5 year old! (Who am I kidding... I'd rock that out now, too!)

Anyone else notice how poor the service has become?  This is the second time I've been in for breakfast and had to wait almost 10 minutes before I got coffee or saw a wait staff.  This last time, when I asked one waitress service the table in front of me for some coffee she told me that she would get my waitress she was just a little busy right now.  I also notice the 3 "bus boys" standing around in the back.  Didn't they used to pout coffee?

Anyway we ending up at the nice Deli in the same strip mall.  A lot less hassle and aggravation and good food.

Butterfield's, you are slowly going under and with this economy people won't pay for a sit down meal when service is non existent.

Wow! Went at Sunday at 9am and the place was jammed. I was surprised to see so many people up and out that early given I just rolled out of bed at 8.  Spacious restaurant and I was seated right away. Snagged a comfy booth. Be prepared for noise but I found I was able to enjoy my daughter's company without shouting. Wait staff is frazzled and seemed a bit overwhelmed but friendly. Food comes FAST! Had scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. Big portions. Brought over 1/2 home. My DD choice the lighter fare ( which I know I should have but didn't ) steel cut oatmeal with fresh OJ. Yummy! She thought it came with fresh fruit. Server was kind and brought her a big gratis bowl of blueberries!! When I left, there was a lot of people waiting to be seated.  All in all, it was really good and plan to go back next Sunday.

Butterfields is a very good breakfast pancake house.

Me and my wife stopped into Butterfields on a very busy Saturday morning the lot was jam packed with cars and we were unsure how long the wait wad going to be to be seated. Luckily there were a couple tables open and we were seated immediately.

My wife said nice place a bit noisy because its so busy but very nice. As we perused the expansive menu she ordered a goat cheese and spinach omelette and I ordered the HMOP skillet with fresh O.J.

I couldn't believe how quickly our orders were up 5 minutes tops and exactly as we ordered. The O J. was delicious but a bit pricey. But the meals were great I'd recommend the HMOP to anyone that loves Ham mushrooms and peppers.

On the way out I see this lady putting boxes of fresh Oranges into a squeezing machine that you can actually watch it being made no wonder the O.J. was a little pricey but they go through boxes of oranges daily and have a lady that does that the whole time she's there . Talk about freshly squeezed OJ and it says on the wall over a million oranges squeezed talk about busy and fresh!

Butterfields you won me over with good food fresh OJ the fastest service and yummy pancakes. A full 5 stars and I'll be back again soon!!!

This is the best breakfast place I've been to in the Naperville area, and it kills me to give it three stars. The food is easily worth a flawless Yelp rating, as everything I've ever ordered from Butterfield's has been absolutely phenomenal. I've been there enough to ride the full spread of the menu from egg dishes to pancakes, french toast, and more. Everything is amazing. Oh, and while $3.50 feels a little expensive for a glass of orange juice, it's -so- good.

Unfortunately, the service at Butterfield's is really bad. When I go somewhere for breakfast, I want to be drinking silly amounts of coffee. (They get bonus points for giving you actual cream in a little container instead of those dodgy pre-packaged cream cups.) Not only are the coffee cups super small, but getting your coffee refilled is like pulling teeth especially since you typically only see your waiter when they take your order, bring you your food, and then bring you your check.

The whole restaurant seems heinously under-staffed. I'm not really that high maintenance so only seeing your server the requisite three times is fine, but it'd be really cool if there was someone in charge of just filtering around refilling coffee mugs. That's how most breakfast places seem to operate, and it seems very strange, given how fantastic Butterfield's food is that they're missing out on this.

    Oh well!

Don't let my review dissuade you from going though, the food is awesome.

I've been hesitant to write this review for some weeks now.  I've never been so in disagreement with other Yelpers until my breakfast at Butterfield's.  After all the fantastic reviews, I expected a great breakfast.  My experience could not have been farther from my expectations; in fact, it was horrible.

My fiance and I went on a Sunday morning.  I expected it to be busy and that was hardly the problem.  We were actually seated within 3-4 minutes.  The waitstaff, we were visited by several different individuals, were icy and completely withdrawn.  My fiance ordered the Crab Cake Benedict with grits on the side and I ordered some kind of Salmon Scrambler with hashbrowns and sourdough toast.  The food was abysmal and honestly nearly inedible.  My fiance's crab cakes were nothing more than a bread crumb cake that made frozen fish sticks look delicious with eggs that were over-hard and not poached.  His grits were the color combination of yellow #5 and nacho cheese.  My scrambler was no better.  Eggs were palatable but the hash browns were white and cold in the center much like the toast.  What minimal cooking that was done to our food was highlighted by a nice long stay under a heat lamp.  I would have been embarrassed to send that out of my kitchen.

Our server was no where to be found and honestly, I'm not one to return a meal and complain.  I just tell others and don't return.  We picked gingerly at our "meal", paid the bill when did it arrive and left.  I wanted to grab the customers in the parking lot on our way out and convince them to get back into their cars and go to the McDonald's next door instead.

Maybe they had an "off day".  I'm sorry to say, it was so off that we just simply cannot risk giving Butterfield's another chance.  I highly recommend reconsidering a visit to this establishment.

After a 6 mile run and an hour long yoga class tipping the dog at lululemon, it was time to feed the beast with Maryum S.

She's definitely a regular here since it's been her brunch spot literally every Sunday for the last few years.  Now I know why she keeps coming back.

As soon as I walked in, I saw their industrial sized juicer pouring out freshly squeezed OJ.  Good sign.  I was just sitting at the front waiting for Maryum when the host handed me a menu to look.  No words needed.  He read my mind.

We were seated in large comfy booth and attended to very quickly-no muss no fuss service.  Love that they had Louisiana hot sauce.  Sad they didn't carry Coke (RC only) nor alcohol...no blood mary=(

I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Skillet ($9.29).  Amazeballs.  Buttery crispy hashbrowns topped with corned beef hash then eggs.  I could only finish half my skillet.  Portions here are overly generous.  I chose the cornbread for my side and it's definitely not to be missed. Actual flecks of corn and mild peppers in it for that added kick.

I will not be going back to this place. My boyfriend and I were the first of our group to arrive, so we put our name in for a table. Our table was ready as the others in our group were pulling into the parking lot, but since they weren't in the restaurant (they were getting the kids ready to come in) the manager almost threw us out. He was completely rude and gave us a hard time about the others not being at the table ("We've heard 'In the parking lot' a thousand times!"). I have never received service like that before.

The food was ok. I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, and asked for a side of fruit, and they gave me a pretty small amount of food, especially for what I was paying. The taste was ok - nothing special. I tried a bite of my boyfriend's pancakes and those tasted nice. Our waitress was nice and attentive, and the food came quickly.

As we were getting ready to leave - putting the kids' coats on, etc. - the manager pounced on our table and made us pretty uncomfortable by bringing a big group to our table and rushing us away.

I understand that a breakfast restaurant is busy on a Sunday, but that isn't an excuse for making your patrons angry and uncomfortable.

Damn right I'm the duchess here. In fact I am here now, writing this. Why? because it's the best, it has wi-fi, i needed to get the funk out of my house and i was hungry, and i had a lot of ish to do on the computer.
I come here every weekend with my boyfriend. We LOVE this place. The service, management, menu, venue, it all ROCKS.
I've never had a meal I didnt like here, and i've worked my way through a big chunk of their menu.
It cant go w/o mentioning that they have a dedicated Orange Juice employee. Juicing cases and cases of fresh oranges all day every day. BEST OJ ON THE PLANET. Fact.

Favorite meal: Egg white omlett with Broccoli and Sausage, well done and a healthy dose of cholula hot sauce. Mmmmmm -- i live that they stock each table with 3 different kinds of hot sauce (and ketchup for the weenies)

Best breakfast joint in the west suburbs. IMHO ;)

I discovered this gem of a restaurant when I moved to Lisle, IL back in November of 2011. Thus far I've absolutely loved everything to do with the place and the servers I've dealt with.

When  you walk in it's everything I thought it'd be based on the outside. The dark wood decor, Naugahyde covered booths and chairs, and carpeted dining room all fit the definition of a chain restaurant, but the people make it feel more like a mom & pop store. It tends to be loud and I think the tall ceilings and wall of windows don't help.

Regardless of the noise levels the service and food make it worth the trip. The servers make you feel comfortable and the food is excellent and plentiful! The portions are large and with it being a chain you can rely on its consistency. Everyone I take there enjoys it.

If you are a breakfast person (like me) try their California Medjool Date & Goat Cheese omelet. It's an incredible combination of sweet and tart but be careful, it's rich. If you have it in ya, get their pancakes and you'll see why that word is in their name. The pancakes are heavy, cake type with a sweet flavor. Like everything else, they're wonderful (and a signature for Butterfield's).

I definitely recommend this place. It's worth the time, money and trip!

I love butterfields! Their breakfast is very homestyle, hearty, and delicious! (as any breakfast place should be) Would recommend their pancakes, skillets, omelets...pretty much breakfast item you get here will be delicious.

This is a great place for groups of people as I used to always come here with a group of 20+ people after church on Sunday and they've always been great at accommodating us no problem.

I only gave this place 4 stars because it's not a place that I can go to everyday...maybe once or twice a month would be enough for me. But otherwise great food and service! Would definitely return anytime.

I'll take a pint of coffee... and keep 'em comin'!

They've got damn good coffee service- that's for sure. My mug was full the entire meal. They must have been refilling it somewhere in between my sipping and blinking because I KNOW I drank a sh*t ton of coffee today, but I only remember seeing our server top it off like twice. They be nimble and they be quick here... and now I'm prepared to not sleep till March.

B-field's is a super spacious breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot located about 7 minutes from downtown Naperville. I can appreciate this because downtown Naperville is gat damn cluster cuss during the morning (and afternoon and evening) hours so it's nice to get away from the parking and pedestrian madness of Washington Avenue and its tributaries. Also going for Butterfield's is it's adorbies factor. Cute animal statues and fun ceiling art made to look like giant waffles with butter melting. Very inviting, very clean and spacious yet cozy. They do fill up on the weekends, though. And there will be a wait, so just be prepared for that but they move the line quickly so it isn't a huge deal.

The menu is pretty expansive- to the point where I think it's always taken me longer to decide what I want than it does for me to eat it. I like that they offer a variety of health conscious b-fast as well as the standard (and super tasty) artery cloggers. I've been here when I was dying for some fatty food but went with their berry-granola-yogurt thinking I'd be sacrificing flavor in order to be more fit but that wasn't the case at all. Turns out their berry-granola-yogurt combo is made of angel's wings with just a pinch of kitten dreams and not a sacrifice in the least. I've also gotten their artichoke frittata and avocado bacon wrap (sans bacon) which sounded like pure heaven, but in actuality not nearly as good as I remembered the granola dish to be. Also, their guacamole (comes with the avocado bacon wrap) was surprisingly good.

For my next visit I'm going to get the spinach and Gruyere crepes.
For my next visit after that I'm going to get the portobello benedict.
And for my visit after that one I'm going to get the taffy apple french toast.

I could probably go on and write out what I plan on getting for my next 7 meals here but I don't want to sway your opinion too much. Head over to Butterfield's and decide for yourself.

As soon as I walked in, I noticed how spacious the restaurant was. It  was crowded but the tables were far enough apart that it seemed quiet to us when we sat down..

I ordered one of their original skillets. I'm not sure what made Butterfield's Corn Beef Hash an original concept. For $8.95, there were layers of hash brown potatoes, white onions and green peppers mixed in to the corn beef hash, 2 eggs prepared my way with Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses sprinkled on top and served in a hot skillet. It included my choice of biscuit, bread or muffin. You can pay $1.25 extra for egg whites or egg beaters.

The portion was too big to finish in one sitting so I only ate half and boxed the rest. I couldn't eat the leftovers. The meal stuck to my stomach for hours. The corn beef hash came back up and not in a good way.

Depite what happened later in the day, I still give this place 3 stars. The service was really good. It takes more than a few hours to blame a restaurant for food poisoning; by the time I write this, I had dinner else where without further incident.

I would return to try their lunch menu. The burgers caught my eye while I was trying to decide on what to order for breakfast.

Really solid breakfast food, one of the two best in Naperville (Pancake Cafe out by 75th and Naperville-Plainfield being the other).  Always fresh, good value for a breakfast place...

Stopped in for a quick lunch, needed a place with variety.  A pregnant woman needs her CHOICES!

Ended up getting some Jambalaya and  a Monte Cristo Sandwich.  The Sandwich was tasty, the Jambalaya, not so much.  I wish the sandwich had been a tad bit crispier, however as quickly as it was delivered I will give them a pass.  The prices are pretty reasonable as well.

I would've given more stars, but I wasn't extremely impressed, it was just good.  I will try them again the future.

Double Entree, Pregnant woman's lunch 20 dollars.

Wayyyy too crowded to be an enjoyable experience. Yes, my mom and I somehow managed to snag a table right when we walked in, but I think that was more coincidence than anything. The server was polite but did the bare minimum for us - poor girl was so harried by the completely full restaurant. I've nothing against a full restaurant but it meant that we could barely carry on a conversation sitting 2 feet away from each other, it was so freaking loud. Plus, I've always thought that Butterfield's is overpriced for the quality of food you get. There's nothing spectacular about it. If you have a choice, get your brunch on somewhere else.

Maybe if they'd give me one of those balloons, I'd feel better about the place.

Love all their food. I normally order an omelette or skillet, and have never been dissatisfied. All of their ingredients are fresh and high quality. Nothing is frozen, the pancakes are large and fluffy, and the maple syrup compliments the pancakes instead of overpowering them.

I would say this is a great standard for an American breakfast. The service is great, and I have absolutely no complaints. Woo!

This is a great place for some breakfast nosh.

I've been here a few times, and each time I've had only very fresh, high quality ingredients.  Nothing has been frozen, everything is large, and the pancakes are light, fluffy, warm, with a little bit of vanilla to them.

Their multigrain pancakes were very impressive; moist , warm, and flavorful.  The maple syrup is sweet without being overpowering.

They've also got some standard American lunch food on their menu, and I'll have to update you after I've tried some.  Although honestly, when breakfast is this good, why would you have to get lunch!?

The only issue I have with this place is its limited hours.  They don't serve dinner here.  If you come for a late breakfast, you may run out of time. I certainly have.

This is "my" place. Yes, I'll happily share it with the thousands of other avid fans, but when I think of my happy place, I imagine waffles on the ceiling and big flying pancakes.

Everything on the menu is real and fresh, from their orange juice (squeezed to order) to their maple syrup (even if you do have to pay for the lil' jars).

I proudly sport the childrens' shirts the staff was so kind as to give me. It's a small service to tirelessly promote a restaurant where the owner himself works busing tables and seating patrons. It's an honor to wear their logo.

My boyfriend and I, up early on a Saturday, hit this place for breakfast. It's on one of the main north-end Naperville corners (Ogden and Naper Blvd) so it's hard to miss, and he remembers when it was a pizza place. It's quite sizable, but because we were early it wasn't too crowded. Humorous decor amuses me, so the waffle ceiling tiles were funny.

I did an a la carte breakfast off the side dish menu: hash browns with onions, cheese grits, and bacon.
He got the California Scramble: scrambled eggs with grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato, and jack cheese. This also came with hash browns and 2 pancakes.

My meal was so-so. Hash browns were the star: wonderfully crisp, with the onions adding the perfect bite. The bacon was the thick "country" kind, not my favorite, and in one place wasn't fully cooked-seeming. The cheese grits were disappointing to me: they just didn't taste like anything! Usually grits don't taste like much, but the addition of cheese does something for them. Nope. I added black pepper and then Jalapeno Tabasco at the table to liven them up. (This did remind me to make some shrimp & grits myself some day soon, though.)

The young man enjoyed his scrambler, hash browns and pancakes. I had a bite of the pancake (I guess you can't go to a pancake house without trying the namesake product), which was very light, almost foam-like.

    Service was efficient and nice.

Overall, though my choices weren't all the greatest, I'd still return, since they have a big menu to choose from (lunch, too), and it's convenient.

I was in the area and craving some breakfast food so i stopped for my late lunch.   The service was quick and friendly, the food delicious.

The fresh squeezed orange juice was all goodness - sweet with just a bit of tartness.

The taffy apple french toast was incredible.   It isn't as sweet as it sounds which is a good thing in my opinion.  It is expertly prepared french toast that is stuffed with marscapone cheese and sprinkled with some nuts, apples, and caramel.  It is like having a delicious dessert for a meal.

I also had the corned beef hash skillet.  This was good as well.   Lots of hash browns, cheese, onions, and green peppers.   I would prefer the hash browns cooked crispier, but I did like that they were not greasy.  The skillet came with some eggs.   I had mine over easy along with pancakes.  Glad to see this pancake house is using real maple syrup and not some fake sugar water.

You can't get much better than Butterfields for breakfast.  I love the skillets and the eggs benedict.  The last time I went I got the bananas foster crepe, which was extremely sweet and a good alternative to the more traditional savory breakfast foods.  A go-to breakfast place when I go to visit my Aunt in Darien.

Pay at the counter, great wait service.  Gets very busy at prime times...

This place was huge! The first thing I thought when I walked in, ample seating! I went with my family and we got seated right away!

Within 10 minutes of ordering our food arrived! I got the Tuscan Omelette that came with hash browns and pancakes. It had baby asparagus, italian prosciutto ham, swiss cheese and it was good!

Prices are relatively inexpensive. The one big downside was the service outside of the food. I had to wait a very long time to get a refill on my coffee, twice! Also, the waitress spilled coffee on our table every time she poured the coffee! I mean, how hard is it to get the coffee in the cup? Come on!

The food here is always fresh and the service is attentive. But I have a problem spending almost as much for breakfast as I can for a dinner someplace else. Bottom line: it's a little overpriced for simple bacon and eggs. Like most things in Naperville, it's overrated.

I usually only go here when I'm trying to impress someone or a very special occasion comes along. Otherwise, I'll skip it.

    BEWARE: TERRIBLE SERVICE AHEAD!!!

Seriously, the only thing that has led us to return to this place three times is the food. The service is terrible (at best)...that's the nicest (and most internet-friendly) word I can use!

The first time was tolerable, just completely slow and confused. She was sweet, though, and the food was tasty, so we returned.

The second time was abhorrent! This lady, possibly late 30s early 40s, hair always in a pony tail, works in the center/bottom part of the restaurant-- she was the most horrible lady I have ever met. It was as if taking our order was comparable to having her teeth pulled-- she wouldn't even look at us! When I asked to add a side of bacon to my breakfast, she rolled her eyes, sighed, and went "uuuugh" as she wrote it down!  She literally THREW our food down (one plate bounced)- She never returned to check on us. I asked no less than three different servers to help us and refill our coffee throughout the meal. She threw our check down and didn't even look at us.

The third time, we sat for 45 minutes before our food came out- our pre-pubescent waiter claiming he "had no idea" where our food was. When it finally arrived, my eggs were so cold and rubbery, they could bounce off the wall and the cheese in my omelet had re-coagulated.

Their food, however, is delicious.  They are always packed, so either their food is just that good as to override their TERRIBLE SERVICE, or I have had the worst luck (three times) in the history of eating at restaurants.

I would give it a try, but just be weary. Hey, if nothing else, you'll get a great meal and save money when you don't leave a tip!

    I like to eat breakfast.

    I. Do. Not. Like. Mornings.

Butterfields is a nice compromise.  I can get a good breakfast for lunch- and quickly.  We actually come here some when we are in our office in the "vile" burbs.  I always, always, always get the same thing- the farmers skillet without the sausage, ham, and green peppers.  It rocks!  While you have a choice of pancakes, toast, bagel, etc- please allow me to recommend an English muffin.  It pairs nicely.

I cannot comment on the other food- but- my dining partners can.  My wonderful assistant almost always gets an enormous omelet with sausage and cheese- she raves about it every time.

Why only 3 stars?  They have installed TVs... a few of them.  Really, I prefer to eat without having to watch headlines scrolling, listen to shows, etc.

No matter the hour you can order up freshly squeezed OJ and choose from a great selection of traditional and unique breakfast dishes.  If you have the time (30 min to bake) you should try the oven baked apple cinnamon pancake at least once.  Looking for something a little healthier? Try the  caramelized banana steel-cut oatmeal or Nova Lox platter.  Perhaps something different?  Try the Spinach and Gruyere Crepe (inc mushrooms, onions and hollandaise sauce).  Can't make up your mind?  Go with close family or friends, order several different items, ask your waiter for some extra plates and try a bit of each!

The staff is attentive and pleasant.  As great as the food and staff are, the high ceilings, open floor plan, and kid friendly nature of Butterfield's make for a rather noisy dining experience.  So, if you prefer a place with a cozier atmosphere - head over to Egg Harbor.  Otherwise, call ahead and/or prepare to wait a short spell as they get pretty busy on the weekend.

There is something delightfully wicked about getting to linger under the covers for as long as you want in the morning and still be able to have a freshly prepared breakfast regardless of when you finally pull back the curtains and greet the new day.... and Butterfield's knows it.

Went here for breakfast New Year's Day (2007)... at about 2:00 pm (they were open until 3:00pm)  Food was excellent, staff was more chipper than I think anyone had a right to be that morning (afternoon).  The orange juice gives new meaning to the term "fresh squeezed", and its definitely not from concentrate.  The juicer is good for hours of entertainment, especially if you're easily amused like I was that morning (afternoon).

Not your run-of-the-mill IHOP waffle, that's for sure.  And the hash browns- delicious!

Nice place -- better than I expected for a chain.  To Ellen's and Andrew's reviews I'll add that there are lots of choices (one would hope so!) for pancakes, waffles, crepes, and French toast (are we calling it that again?).  I had the pecan and raisin pancakes -- yummy!  Then there's weird stuff like lemon-poppy seed French toast which maybe I'll try next time.  The waitress was patient and helpful with my detail-obsessed son.  Everyone in our party enjoyed their choices.  The entire menu can be seen at the website.

WORD on the fresh-squeezed orange juice!

Had breakfast here for the first time (spouse had fish & chips - it was noon) and it was solid.  The restaurant is in the former Bacino's space.  Tile floors and high ceilings make for a fairly noisy dining room, but I kind of enjoyed it - the place is much more interesting and alive as compared to your standard family restaurant.

The service was efficient.  We sat near the entrance and noticed the oranges tumbling into the automatic juicer so my daughter and I investigated.  Since the machine is at the kitchen entrance, a nice guy escorted us over for a closer look and showed us how it worked - got a sample glass of juice just ten seconds old...fantastic.  I will NEVER buy juice in the jug again.

8/21/07 update: I finally tried the swedish pancakes - YES.  Second in deliciousness only to those at Scuttlebutt's in Lake Geneva, a formidable competitor for all breakfasts swedish.
