We stopped in here on a Sunday night before a show at the Riviera. I was scouring Yelp for places to eat nearby, and Caravan sounded like the best bet.
We started with the hummus, and they serve complimentary naan bread (baked right in front of you in the oven at the bar) and vegetables. The hummus was really good, and the naan was great too. For my entree I had the chicken breast kebabs with dill rice, and the boy had lamb. The chicken was great, very juicy & cooked well... I also really enjoyed the dill rice. I can't comment on the lamb as I'm still not ready to eat things that go "baa", but it seemed like it was a hit.
Our server was nice and attentive. The portions were way bigger than I expected for the price... if I hadn't have been going to a concert after dinner, I definitely would have taken the leftovers for lunch the next day. Overall it was a great experience & I was pleasantly surprised! A nice little gem in Uptown, definitely check it out.
My friend and I had always wanted to try this place and we used the http://www.gdine.com experience. Â It was fantastic. Â The menu had many good options, the portions were very ample. Â We split the appetizer, each had our own entree, then split the dessert choice. Â I actually had leftovers. Â We also used the "Request a Table" tab due to no reservations being available at the time we wanted. Â The gDine concierge emailed me back promptly and found us a table. Â The staff of the restaurant were courteous and were at the table an appropriate amount of time. Â I would recommend this place to all my friends who like middle eastern food. The only sadness I felt is that we were leaving just as they were about to have live music.
Review Source:A definite hidden gem in Edgewater. The decor on the outside and inside are unique and different. The staff very attentive and the food, although I would not say is amazing, it is very good. The place has been around for a year now and still it seems as if it just opened. The place has its nights where there are only a few occupied tables and when there is a decent amount of people. But never a spot that I would say has gotten packed.
My only request for the location would be to create a more up beat experience. The music has very low, slow & somber feel to it. If your looking for a very quite place to have dinner.. this is it. But for me, i prefer a lively ambiance. Â I know the restaurant might want to create a romantic setting, but the dim lights and cozy plush seating divided by either class or curtains create the mood on its own. I feel that a Persian restaurant that boasts authentic food, should also provide an more authentic atmosphere and have Persian music in the background.
The place has a DJ booth and Fri nights at 10p and Saturday nights at 11p they have a live band (Johnny Bandolero) who I am dying to come out and see. I've heard nothing but god things about this group. I think if the band starts a little earlier or if they add an earlier show... say a belly dancer for example. The restaurant will find more people at the doorstep and consecutive packed nights.
All in all, its a place that I would definitely come back to and that I would recommend more often if the ambiance where to have its spirits lifted up a bit.
Don't let the beige facade fool you, the inside is full of dramatic lights, modern decor and sheer draperies for effect. The light and healthy and tasty, including the bread and relish tray when you first are seated. Â Portions are usually large enough for the next day's lunch. Â Service is good because they rarely, if ever, are busy.. for some odd reason. They even deliver now. It's a little slow, but worth it.
Review Source:Great food, EXCEPTIONAL ambiance, service should be more attentive, particularly when you are the only couple in the restaurant. We felt oddly neglected... but will go back for sure as the food is really really good, large portions and great prices. Â Just get the young male waiter and the older bartender better training!
Review Source:There was nothing inherently wrong with my experience at Caravan; it was just - odd. Caravan is on a busy block, yet we were one of two parties there during prime dinner hours & were therefore outnumbered by the wait staff by a large degree. The food was ok but not memorable, and the service was not rude just perfunctory. I may peek in the windows again the next time I walk by, but only to see if anyone's in there!
Review Source:went by accident a few weeks ago. When I say by accident let me digress.
For a while I have been going to the green mill, so I then found other places in this neighborhood that I like.
The my trip to the Uptown Lounge sucked to high heaven...To exemplify this the DJ started to play "jenny from the block". Needless to say I needed to get out of there.
My friend and I saw Caravan by accident since we needed something to eat before going to the green mill. So we get there at 11PM and low and behold Johnny Bandolero was playing with his band some latin/ middle eastern flavor type music that gets people dancing. I had the lamb appetizer, and the falafel plate.
Awesome.
Good stuff
Diamond in the rough...
And there was only 3 people that asked me for change outside the whole night :)
Caravan is fabulous. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. In fact what I took home fed three of us the next night, so I enjoyed my meal twice. The appetizer portion was enough to easily share, so the two course option on the Gdine menu is perfect. Â The service was attentive, without being overbearing. Tables are situated so they are not right on top of each other so conversation is easy. Later at night on Saturday they have live music starting at eleven with no cover. Â Five dollar valet parking helps make this Uptown restaurant easily accessible. Â Caravan is a terrific restaurant, make a reservation soon ! Using http://www.gdine.com increases the "deal" !
Review Source:Before going to an event at the Aragon, my man and I needed some din-din. Â Bar/grills on either side of Caravan were packed, so after walking by a few times, we entered the almost empty restaurant and were seated in the front window. Â
(gold plastic chairs - very deco, very odd)
We ordered some drinks and very shortly after were presented with a plate of hot naan and chopped veggies / cheese. Â That was a welcome surprise, and the naan was chewy and crispy just like it should be. Â They cook it behind the bar in a nice looking fire oven so you can watch the process.
We both ordered kabobs that were served sans-skewer, along with a ton of perfect rice (dill or white - I suggest dill), some mixed in lima beans, and assorted grilled veg. Â I chose the marinated salmon, he chose the rib eye, and we both really liked our meals. Â That salmon was excellent. Â
I'm glad we ended up at Caravan rather than one of the loud / packed bars nearby. Â This was a nice place with friendly servers and good (fairly priced) food. Â I'd return...
The food was slow cooked. I guess they started cooking it when we walked in and then they served it two hours later. If the waiter hadn't apologized for his bad service, the rest of this review would have been about how a bottle of red wine was brought to the table in an ice bucket and then left un-opened for thirty minutes.
Review Source:I passed by this place numerous times but never went in before. Decided to give it a try Friday night. The outdoor table was a big draw on such a beautiful night.
The waitress was super friendly and attentive. She checked up on us several times during the meal to see if we needed anything else. Since we ordered kabobs for dinner, she brought out a traditional spice for kabobs. The spice was great and really enhanced the meal, so I was appreciative of that gesture. The kabobs were delicious on their own too.
I will definitely be back.
Was at Caravan last night for the first time and what a lovely restaurant. Â Our waitress was so helpful around the food and whatever we needed. Â I had the steak kebob which was very tasty, especially with their amazing yogurt and cucumber salad. Â The baba ganoush was densely flavored and perhaps my favorite things we ate. Â I tried the Persian soup-- more like a soft, stew and think it may be an acquired taste :) Â The rice as so interesting, had what I think was sweet (but not too sweet) orange rind in it. Â I think it could become addictive. Â I'm excited to bring other friends here to try the food and also to take in the elegant and quiet atmosphere.
Review Source:The interior design of this place is really awesome. Â The food was mediocre at best especially considering the price point. Â The waitress would not bring our bill after finishing the meal until we finally asked for it after almost an hour of waiting for her to bring it. Â The lamb kabobs were decent.
Review Source:Reading through the reviews I had completely forgotten that this place used to be the Wild Pug. Â Anyway this was a great addition the neighborhood. Â I ate here a few months ago (just catching up on reviews) and the decor is very cool. Â The glass area to the left with the tables makes for a very intimate setting and is quite unique. Â Mediterranean food is one of my favorites and this place did not disappoint. Â I would definitely recommend this place for some great food.
Update:
So the service and food quality have went downhill since opening. Â I kind of got the impression that the staff really didn't want to work there. Â There were maybe 3 tables in the restaurant and service was slower than a snail. Â I also ordered the kabob that was supposed to have filet on it and when it came out it was more like a greasy skirt steak. Â It also didn't have much flavor. There are some great Mediterranean restaurants in Chicago so I don't think I will be back again.
Atmosphere: Romantic, quiet, dimly lit, pretty, inviting, fun, cozy- 5 stars
Service: Varies. Usually slow or over bearing. They need to find a good medium.- 2 stars
Food:
Chicken breast kebob with plain rice- 3-4 stars.
Conclusion: I LOVE this place for the interesting and unexpected atmosphere however the service is sometimes terrible. The prices are decent (averaging under $15) and majority of my visits have resulted with a perfectly cooked chicken and veggies...however that last time I ventured over here it was over cooked and dry. Still tasty but not the perfect balance that Caravan usually delivers. Portions are huge so expect to take home left overs (I'm not complaining =) I've been here about 6 times and I will return again!
4 Stares!
Very yummy and great service. Caravan is also easy to find, right next to Uptown Theatre.
My girlfriend, her mother and I stopped in yesterday for a birthday dinner (mine). I've eaten middle eastern food before but never the particular Persian take on it. All of us enjoyed our meal and I felt that it was a great value for the price.
We showed up pretty early for them. They open at 4pm, we were there around 5:30 and were the only diners for about 10 more minutes. Then a few people started showing up. The staff were setting up an area for a band to play, so I will guess that things really don't get cookin around here until night. But if you just want a quiet meal and quick service, it pays to show up early.
The brought out some flatbread and a plate of veggies/cheese for us to much on and we placed our appetizer orders: falafel, hummus, and borani. The latter is ground spinach with onions and garlic in yogurt. All of the appetizers were delicious, and we especially liked the borani which was really refreshing with that slightly sour flavor of plain yogurt.
My GF and her mom shared an entree and I don't remember what it was. I had soltani, which is two skewers (one ground beef and one thinly-sliced steak), plus dill rice and roasted veggies. I have never had dill rice before, and theirs also had lima beans in it, which I thought was interesting and actually tasted really good. I love dill and it made the rice go perfectly with my meat, which was tender and flavorful.
I should note that I was looking for a flavorful meal but not a heavy, greasy one, and they really delivered. I loved the flavors and spices, but everything was very light. The portions were generous enough that I brought home leftovers and I left very full, but not feeling sick and loaded down with grease. Will have the leftovers for lunch today.
The decor is cool too. They have these chairs at the tables that I think are very cool looking.
We did not have any alcoholic drinks, so can't comment on the bar.
Highly recommended for a light, yet generous meal and friendly, punctual service.
I don't know. Maybe I just don't get middle eastern food. But the dish I ordered from Caravan was pretty tasteless and slightly overpriced.
However, the place has a nice ambiance and decor. Â It's also a good spot to take someone on a date, but i will warn you the food really isn't the best. Â If given a choice, I would have scarfed down a gyro from the street vendor around the corner instead of eaten here.
Reza's has always held a special place in my heart. Whether it was a family dinner, a pre-drinkfest meal with my buddy's or a date, I have always enjoyed the fabulous food and fun, middle eastern vibe. That's why what I'm about to say is painful. Caravan is better. Not only better, but about half the price.
My wife and I gorged ourselves at Caravan for about $35 dollars. They gave us unlimited Dill rice and middle eastern bread. The bread comes with a fabulous, garlic spread that is utterly delicious. For my entree, I went with one of my favorites. The beef Kabob skewers. The meat was marinated to utter perfection and the dill rice was moist and tender. Not only was the food topnotch, the service was fabulous as well. Not only was our server prompt and attentive, she was a lot of fun.
Here's the bottom line: Caravan is amazing. From the delicious food, wonderful service and generous portions, it's five stars all the way. I can't recommend this place enough and I can't wait to go back.
I've been to several Middle Eastern spots in and around Chicago (Sayat Nova, Reza's, Pita Inn, Larsa's, Basha, etc...), but Caravan definitely remains as one of my top faves. Â You can't beat the (food) prices - drinks were a bit on the pricey side. Â
Don't be fooled by the flashy decor - I have walked in here with a jeans and t-shirt and still felt comfortable; they know how to treat their guests. Â For ex: we had to catch a show at the Riv and the bartender was nice enough to hold our leftovers for us!
I was lead here by Yelp and Caravan is great in terms of ambiance and the food was overall good, but nothing great. Â It would be a fun place to go with a group.
Still, I would definitely go to Noon O Kabob over Caravan any day. Â
The olivieh was a total disappointment.
I would say that it's different than most Persian restaurants I've been to and would be a nice place to get a drink.
I might walk, but not run back.
Caravan is nice, but didn't wow me.
Went on a Tuesday evening and was one of three tables. Â Hope that is not a normal night for them as the experience overall was good.
The starter of naan with some veggies, feta, etc. was quite filling. Â No need for additional appetizers as there was just two of us. Â
I had the tenderloin and lamb. Â I had requested one skewer of each, but wasn't able to communicate that clearly. Â So I ended up with a full order of the tenderloin and an additional skewer of the lamb. Â VERY good overall, but way too much resulting in some very tasty leftovers. Â However, it did increase the cost of the entree by 30%. Â There is the ability to order ala carte, so I might try that next time.
My dining companion order the lamb stew. Â Not overly impressed with it as the texture was off for me. Â He wasn't overly impressed until mixing in the rice and adding a squeeze of lemon. Â
The decor is quite surprising and very inventive. We sat off to the side in an elevated booth. Â Sort of a different arrangement, but was comfortable.
Overall, a nice experience. Â I would very much like to visit again when it is busier to see if there is an energy that develops to go with the incredible decor.
Very good falafel and hummus - chicken kabob was the best cooked kabob I've had in the city. Â Just opened for lunch, so it was a bit slow but service was amazing. Â I like the decor. Â Would be an awesome place to bring a group to,with lots if little compartment rooms to contain the merriment.
Highly recommended!
Caravan is a lounge and restaurant. The front half is a lounge with, on the one side, a nice bar and, on the other side, translucent curtains framing a glass wall, behind which are comfortable couches. The back half is the restaurant. Service is attentive and friendly, and for $12-24 you get a huge plate of delicious meat, vegetables, and (dill) rice that is easily two meals (or more) of food. The drinks ($8-10) are good, too.
Review Source:This is a beautiful spot with friendly service, and the Friday I was there with a friend I saw what seemed to be several regulars coming in and chatting with the owner, giving the place a nice neighborhood-y atmosphere. Â Meals come with complimentary oven-baked bread that is heavenly, and a refreshing crudite/feta plate. The menu is not all that innovative, however, and for this style of cuisine there is just no excuse for having only one vegetarian entree (and lumping it in with the salads). The one veggie entree, an eggplant dish, was simple but good, but my only other option would be to cobble together something from hummus and falafel, and I can go anywhere for that.
Also, while it's common for non-waitstaff to not have English as their first language, or to not speak it well, they should not be the people who meet you at the door and send you confusedly from one of them to another because they can only pick up one or two words of what you are saying. Neither should they clear away your plates, because when you say, "I'll take this to go," you wind up coming home to discover your large container contains not your leftover, but a single slice of bread (so that's why it was so light!) Not only is this frustrating for patrons, but it's unfair to the buspeople, who did try their best and were attentive.
Go for the decor and atmosphere, and go if it's close. The food is fine, but not mind-blowing, but the total experience might be worth it.
Caravan was picked for a quick bite before a performance at Annoyance Theatre down the block. Arriving first, I was caught off-guard by the lounge/club-like vibe. Unlike the other reviewers, I wasn't taken with the decor; the overabundance of multi-hued uplighting and silver beading erred on the garish side for a restaurant.
The restaurant has two sections, the front with a large bar and the back, which seems more suited for dinner service. We were seated in front, off to the side in an odd, fish bowl-like, narrow room. Up a few steps from the regular restaurant and encased by a glass wall, I was glad the restaurant was relatively empty, otherwise I would've felt on display. Although, closing the sheer curtains could make it nice a semi-private, small group space.
When my friend arrived, our server dropped off complimentary starters - naan, veggies, and feta - to nosh as we perused the menu. It's worth noting that the menu is light on veggie-friendly entrees, mostly salads, including caesar. Fortunately, I think one could cobble together a nice vegetarian meal off the appetizer menu. Our server seemed overly eager to take our order, Â checking on us several times before we opted to split the salmon kabob and shrimp kabob.
Our entrees came with a choice of rice - white or dill - lima beans and grilled veggies. Each kabob contained approximately 6 pieces of protein. I can't say which kabob was best, I really enjoyed both of them and their wonderful lemony flavor. The salmon was cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful, I savored every bite.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Caravan and would return. While the menu is pretty meat intensive, there is something for everyone. Well suited to groups, I wasn't surprised that it was empty when we dined, late on a Sunday.
Just OK. Â Neat space, but maybe just an off night for them. Â It's clear that they've done a lot to make it look cool, it is. Â The service was fairly attentive and the prices were reasonable. Â However NASTY falafel. Â Worst I've had in quite a while. Â Dry, tasteless and somewhat like sawdust. Â The kabobs I had weren't really well spiced and were actually a bit dry. Â My wife liked the lamb stew she had.
I wish I had gone with one of my standbys instead of here when I was making a choice. Â Now I have food envy.
Ever since Wilde Pug closed, I was very curious to see what was going to go into that spot next. Â I was hoping the next place would have a better definition of what they offered than the previous occupants. Â After walking into Caravan, I was surprised at the decor. Even though very nice, it is a bit over the top. Â It kind of reminds you of an extremely trendy bar downtown or even NYC. Â One would hope with the elaborate decor, that the food would be just as colorful. Â Overall, it was decent. Â My partner had the chicken breast skewers and I had the chicken koobideh. Both were good. Â We started with the vegetarian platter (hummus, Jerusalem salad, Â falafel, and baba ghannouj). The platter was decent as well. Â Nothing really stood out. Â I would go back as it was good and I love supporting neighborhood restaurants.
Review Source:So our ladies dinner group went and tried out Caravan last week, and we were all very impressed. Â You can tell they're still getting their feet wet on ther service, but everyone was so nice!
We tried almost every appetizer the hummus, baba ghannouj, falafel, olivieh, borani, and kash-ke-bademjan, all served with fresh from the oven nan - delish! Also a Jeruselum Salad. Then we ordered 3 different kababs, chicken, steak and lamb with both regular and dill rice, which all came with roasted vegies. Â The seasoning on the meats were excellent!
Our only negative comment was that the outside needs more color. Â At night, the sign lights up in an array of changing colors (which is mimicked inside) but during the day, it looks un-finished, and not open yet. Â Maybe adding a bit of color in the curves????? Â The inside has the same colors, but it works inside.
Anyway a welcome addition to the 'hood, and we'll all be back!
Beautiful spot! Â I loved the decor, creative and spacious. Â The food was delicious! Â I went last Friday and I'm going back tonight. Â I can't wait! Â I had the salmon kebabs and the eggplant yogurt something, and I'm thinking about them today. Â The wine selection was limited but the cocktails were expansive. Â Regardless, it was worth every penny as the prices were so reasonable.
Ok, went last night. Â The salmon kebabs were amazing! Â The dill rice is excellent. Â We had ice cream with berries and a chocolate cake that were delicious. Â And valet is only $5. Â I'm so used to paying $10-$12.
Great food and service that was good and will only improve with time! The decor was interesting and definitely was a departure from Wild Pug. The seats were comfortable and the music really set the mood. We had a group of 9 which they accommodated with ease. We did make reservations and I would suggest doing the same if you have a large group. It is a very large space that can accommodate a large number of diners but reservations are always a courtesy when bringing a large group to any restaurant.
We started off with 2 mixed plates of appetizers including hummus, baba ghannous, falafel and Jerusalem salad for the table served with naan which was delicious. Â I agree with one reviewer that they could add a little more spice to the hummus but other than that we loved it. Â We also ordered one plate of the Kash-Ke-Bademjan, another eggplant dish with mint and we cleaned the plate quickly. Â Many of us ordered cocktails from their specialty menu which no one complained about. Â I had Leighla's Martini, actually 3 of them. Â They are tasty.
For dinner everyone had a mixture of items. Â I ordered the Soltani entree which was a mixture of chicken and filet mignon with dill rice. Â Very tasty and filling. Â The entrees are very large and if you plan on having dessert, I recommend eating half of your entree to save room for sweets. Â The dessert menu looked amazing but none of us had room to try anything. Â We will be going back very soon!
It is wonderful to have this new addition to the area and I really hope it sticks around.
I was thoroughly impressed with Caravan. Â The owners did a great job renovating the Wild Pug space, and this is a great addition to the Uptown dining / lounge scene.
Now, to the most important part - the food. Â I was thoroughly impressed with everything that we ordered. Â I ordered the filet mignon kebab with the dill and lima bean rice. Â The meat was cooked perfectly, and seasoned just right, and the rice was great, too. Â The serivce was very good as well, though I could tell our server was still learning the ropes. Â We didn't order any drinks, but they do have a full bar with a cocktail menu.
Caravan is going to give Reza's some competition. For anyone considering a pre-concert dinner in Uptown, check out Caravan.
The decor is absolutely fantastic, it would be (is?) a great night club, very flashy. Â The food is OK, not much better that a walk up food counter place. Â That said, the staff was very attentive and made sure we were happy. Â I think if the food had more authentic flavor and spices, this place would be 5-stars.
Review Source:As a resident in the area, I was thrilled to see a risk-taker make an investment in our neighborhood after the closing of Wild Pug at the same location. Â This was my first visit (of many, hopefully), and I was not disappointed.
First, full disclosure - This place is brand new, so they are still learning. I went with three friends, one of whom is a professional in the restaurant industry. Sure, we could have been critical of the service, which was a bit slow and choppy at times, but our server was so humble and sweet and tried to make up for all of her first week jitters. Everyone we encountered at Caravan had the right attitude, and a little practice to get the kinks out should do wonders for this very green team.
The space is really fun and and interesting. Â It has some recognizable elements of the Pug, but with a completely fresh twist. Â The decor is vibrant, tasteful, and colorful. Â Spoiler alert - Anyone who has seen the outside of this place can expect to find more of the same all over the place, including the middle-eastern style shapes and multi color lights.
We started with Filafel and Hummus, which was served with homemade nan. Â Filafel was outstanding, and the hummus was good but a bit bland. It would have benefited from more paprika, oil, and perhaps lemon. Â They also gave us interesting veggies and feta cheese (I think), which was very tasty.
For a main course, everyone had one of the skewered meat choices, which included huge portions and were accompanied by a choice of rice and grilled veggies. Â I had the chicken breast with the dill rice, and it was truly outstanding. Â The meat was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the rice was full of flavor without being overbearing. Â I tried some of the other meats on the table, and there wasn't one I did not like although I think the ribeye was the most flavorful. Â For those that like a little more spice, the dishes came accompanied by this mystery spice that I poured all over my plate, although I could not tell you for the life of me what was in it.
I wish I could report on dessert, but I was too full by the end of the main course to consider another course.
In summary, I can't want to go back to try Caravan again and see how both the menu and team evolve over time. Â The space is cool, the food was satisfying and plentiful, and the staff absolutely contributed to the positive experience. Â The prices were fair and you get a ton for your money. Â This would be a fun place to go with a big group too because its easy to get to, the space could probably handle parties of various sizes, and it's novel.
If you are looking for a reason to visit Uptown and you have not been in a while, use Caravan as your excuse.
Caravan is great! Â I've actually already had occasion to be there twice. Â The first, we just came to get some drinks for a friend's birthday. Â I was able to try three of their house cocktails: the 4810 Cocktail, the Persian Rose, and Leighla's Martini. Â All were really good and priced pretty reasonably ($8-$10) for what they were. Â The bartender, whose name I did not catch, was also really friendly and helpful. Â Talking to him wasn't a chore like it sometimes can be. Â In fact, all of the staff at the restaurant was genuinely nice and helpful. Â Since we were only there for drinks that night, we didn't get to try any of the food, but the server brought us complimentary naan, vegetables, and cheese, which was really nice.
Because I grew up in Uptown and still live nearby, I decided to check it out again to see if the food was as good as the drinks. I love Persian food, and the food at Caravan did not disappoint. Everything I tried was good. We had some appetizers (hummus, baba ghannouj, Israel salad, and falafel). Various people in our party of seven ordered different main courses, and everything I got to try was really good (the dill rice, barg kabob, chicken kabob, and koubideh kabob). The entrees were served with grilled vegetables, which were a nice touch, and portion sizes were huge!
The decor at Caravan is definitely not understated. Â We got to sit in a neat fishbowl-like room that had a lounge-y feel to it. Â I liked the drinks I ordered this time just as much as last time. Â Staff was really friendly again. Â I hear there are plans to make this a late-night bar and have live music/djs and belly dancing at some point. Â I hope those permits all go through because Caravan is a great addition to the neighborhood, and I definitely think that they'd draw more of a crowd.
Come support a great local business so it stays in Uptown!
What a great addition to the neighborhood! This intersection is really bustling with excellent ethnic food, with Demera and Marigold nearby, and now Caravan fits into that scene perfectly.
We started with the hummus and had two kabobs (lamb and shrimp) for dinner. Delicious. Get the dill rice, it's awesome. Serving sizes are large, so go hungry.
The restaurant is NEW! Brand NEW! So be patient. Though our service was excellent and definitely up to par (had they not told us they were brand new, they could have fooled us!), the staff was a little nervous and still learning the routine.
