Good place. If you're a cheese fan, you'll definitely love it. The service was a bit mediocre, even though we were sitting pretty close to the "kitchen." Be prepared for a decent wait on weekend nights. If you're not willing to wait, there are plenty of other great wine bars in Hell's Kitchen.
Review Source:I've been to Casellula several times and it's yet to disappoint. The space, which is clean and modern, is located a bit off of 9th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen. Certainly on the small side, so make sure to get there early if you wish to get a table. Once you're seated, you're sure to have a lovely experience.
I'd say their specialty is paring cheeses with wines and other delightful flavors. I'd recommend consulting the expert servers and sommelier depending on what you're in the mood for. They'll usually suggest a bottle to your taste along with 3 cheeses that pair well. The cheese paring also comes with some other items to complement the experience, like a toasted marshmallow or ricotta with honey. All the flavors meld together perfectly for a very unique tasting experience. The entrees are solid, but not quite as strong as their wines and cheeses. In the past, I've gotten the pork sandwich which is tasty but a bit on the heavy side. My fiancee usually gets a pasta dish. The mac and cheese is rich and creamy and the seasonal pastas are quite good as well.
The only downside is that its a bit on the pricey side, considering the other options in the neighborhood. Briciola, Â Il Baretto, and Riposo 46 all come to mind as quite a bit cheaper. While not Casellula, they'll leave your pocket book in better shape.
Bottom line, definitely hit up Casellula for a date or a special occasions. Great wine and cheese selections with even better expert advice. You're sure to have a memorable experience.
Fantastic cheese selection. Â Great charcuteries. Â Good wine, tiny little place, fair prices, friendly service.
I wouldn't come here to fill up on a meal. Â I'd consider this more of a tapas joint if saying "tapas" didn't bring Spanish Conquistadors immediately to my mind (Yes, every time I say "Tapas" I think of bearded, dark skin men in heavy breastplates and curved helmets, with checkered flags), but it's something similar. It's not often that I find goose on a menu, and they have it here - I love it.
I absolutely love this place.
Omg I cannot believe how bad my experience was of this place. Would have given zero stars if it would let me. Been looking forward to going here for a year as my boyfriend and I didn't get to eat here last time we were in New York and the reviews on Yelp were fab. Worst money I have ever spent and left feeling really angry. As soon as we walked in we could see that the place was packed so got ushered to the bar. The woman behind the bar had a face like a slapped arse and was so busy giving the couple next to us a load of freebies that she completely neglected us. I asked her which cheeses were the strongest (a question I had asked at Murrays cheese bar and they were more than happy to accommodate) and it was as if I had committed some sort of crime. When we ordered our cheese, she said " what like you are ordering a cheese you know just in case the others are not strong enough"? Well yes you idiot because we are in a foreign country and dont know half the cheeses on the menu so just needed a bit of advice on what to choose but you cant be arsed to help us. also, we ordered a bottle of wine and she even asked us if we wanted a bottle as if we couldnt afford it or something. It went downhill from there and resulted in a completely ruined evening. The only highlight was the waitress who actually brought us the food who was lovely and really explained everything to us...which is only what we wanted in the first place. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO TO KASHKAVEL OR MURRAYS CHEESE BAR INSTEAD. Much better service and food.
Review Source:Casellula is a great wine bar in Hell's Kitchen. Â It was quite obvious that it has an awesome reputation/following when we walked in at 5:30 on a Saturday and it was already completely packed. Â It is also quite small, so be prepared to wait.
They have a nice wine selection. Â Everything we tried was decent. Â The food was all excellent. Â Of particular note, the pig's ass sandwich was delicious--as others have stated. Â The dipping sauce for the sandwich was also great. Â We also really enjoyed the pigs in a blanket. Â The meat had a nice spice to it which made the dish even better.
Our favorite dessert was the sweet corn tart. Â We also tried the chocolate cake with cream which we found to be fairly gimmicky and the gimmick did not truly pay off. Â I definitely could have been satisfied with only the tart. Â
Casellula is delicious and fairly low key. Â I'll definitely be back.
Everything we had here was simply incredible!
The cheeses are very flavorful and the selection is quite large.
In addition to cheese, the brisket sliders were our favorite while the Pig's Ass sandwich was very delightful (along with the chipotle aioli).
Oh goodness, the chocolate cake was to die for!!!
I came here for wine, popcorn and chocolate cake (yes, it was obviously a girls night). Nice selection of wines from regions I wasn't familiar with (I drink a LOT of wine, but had never had a cab from Lebanon!). Friendly staff that was willing to talk wine for as long as you'd like. They pour at the table (ie bring you the glass, pour, you taste, then they pour the entire glass) - which I always thought was a nice service in case you made a bad decision. Chocolate cake is great - the pour this creamy milk amazingness over it. Atmosphere was pleasant, not too loud.
Review Source:After making the mistake of going to the MET on a rainy, holiday weekend, we absolutely made the right choice of dining here.
We aren't afraid of cheese and asked Brian, our kind, patient, and amazing waiter to make us a flight of his best and most adventurous cheeses. I wish I could tell you what the were....they were all funky and extremely delicious. We also had the 5 meats, also amazing. Stuffed peppadews were fun and hit the perfect balance of tart, salty abd sweet.
2 bottles of wine Brian chose for us...maybe that's why we can't remember the cheeses....I will be talking about this meal for a longtime and will return with our husbands .....a fine 24 hours in NYC.
Sandwich made from a pig's ass.. Need I say more?
This is a chic little wine bar that serves delicious cheese, as well as dishes that include cheese... and if you are not a cheese person (regrettable), they have this great pig ass sandwich. Crostini was also an interesting combination with honey and cheese, surely a venture worth trying once.
You may have walked by this place and mistaken it for yet another city wine bar that serves booze and mediocre food, but Casellula is different. The ambiance is one where you take old friends and make new ones. It's chic, fresh, and classy. You can hear every word coming from the other person's mouth, something that is often loss with the more popular West Village and LES counterparts. The wait is very little or minimal. You are not repeatedly sticking you elbow into your neighbor's breast. The food is good. The service is quick and friendly. It this cumulative effect that makes it worth your while to try at least once in the city.
Happy to find this place to be as solid as it was 2 years ago.
Arrived around 8pm on a weeknight, my friend and I were seated within 15 minutes. Â
We went with waiter suggestions for the white wine and cheese selections, without giving him too much direction besides like a dry Riesling for the wine, and "not boring" for the cheeses. Â
The wine turned out fantastic, I'm never worried about how the wine will be here.
The first two cheese we got were pungent, very interesting flavor pairings - for instance, a hardish blue cheese was paired with some kind of sundried tomato spread. Â A nutty, cow's milk cheese came with a hard, candied toffee like pairing. Â
The second set of cheese we got were not as good, but maybe we were too blown away by the first set. Â
Ricotta crostini with orange honey and hazelnut - sweeter than anticipated, but really good flavor combination. Â I would say you can get this in many wine bars, so unless you really love ricotta, you can skip this. Â
Dessert of chocolate pudding was excellent - came with a layer of coconut and very tangy blood orange sorbet. Â I loved this - my friend and I were pretty full, and intended to have a few spoonfuls. Â We finished the whole thing. Â
Kanafeh is Middle Eastern style dessert made with phyllo stuffed with mozzarella and ricotta, topped with cream cheese almond ice cream. Â YUM. Â It was warm, drizzled in honey, excellent. Â I'm still a chocolate person at heart, but this was a nice complement. Â
Great service & atmosphere, though it can get pretty loud. Â Classy atmosphere, but you'd be very comfortable in jeans or even yoga clothes.
Came here because I had a break in between appointments and had a hankering for wine and cheese. Â I remembered the many times I walked by Casellula thinking, "I've gotta stop in there one of these days."
I made the mistake of stopping in here with only a half hour to spare, but I didn't inform my server, so this is totally on me, not him. Â Once I asked for my check and savored what I could of the cheese flight and second glass of wine I had ordered, he was very accommodating and got me out just in time. Â
This is definitely a place you go to sit for at least an hour and enjoy some fantastic wine and small plates of meats and cheeses, etc. and not feel rushed through your experience. Â They filled up quickly on a Saturday. Â I came in at 5pm and by 5:30 the place was full! Â
I will definitely be back. Â Come prepared to spend money and to tip well on top of it because the service is stellar.
The service is great, the drinks are good, the snacks are good for the price. The ambiance is romantic. Such a good date spot. I come here only when there is no wait, usually within an hour from opening time. I usually don't dine here, so I can't review the food. I have never had any bad experience from wait staffs.
Review Source:We just started coming here a few weeks ago and it is slowly becoming a regular spot. They have this really nice Portuguese white wine that we love, and get everytime. The cheese is to die for and the food is always excellent, without fail. But the highlight of the place is the service. Grady is usually our sever and one of the best in Manhattan. Super friendly, attentive, and just plain good at his job. Every other time that we've had someone else, they have matched his level. Food, drink, atmosphere, music, etc make for a great time, but at the end of the day, service is what makes people go back to a restaurant. So happy this place is nearby us...
Review Source:This is a nice little place with good cheese, good wine, good food and good service.
The highlight, in my mind, is the cheese options and especially their creative pairings. Â They have a very long list of quality cheeses, and each comes with a clever little pairing. Â For example, among our choices today we had a camembert with toasted pumpkin seeds and a blue cheese with a rosewater panna cotta, along with some other interesting pairings. Â They're creative and they generally work really well. Â
For hot food, they don't have a long menu, but they do have some pretty tasty options. Â My favorite today was the beef brisket steamed buns, which were really excellent. Â Moist, tasty beef with excellent complimentary flavors - surprisingly good for a place that doesn't specialize in barbecue, really. Â For dessert, the apple caramel tart was interesting and quite tasty. Â
The list of wines by the glass is shorter than you might think for a wine bar, but they've got some good ones. Â
It is a pretty small place, so you might have to wait for a bit for a table, or settle for the bar (and even then you might have to wait). Â But we've always been able to get a table or seats at the bar relatively quickly as long as it's fairly early. Â And we've always had good service, even when they get packed.
I do not want to give Casellula 5 stars because I fear it will become even more busy. But they deserve it, and I cannot yelp dishonestly, so there. Anyway this place is great. Fun atmosphere, great wine list, love the food and service, and SO MUCH CHEESE. You could eat your weight in cheese here. I would recommend it for a date or just catching up with a friend. It is tiny so it's not really a group place in my opinion. Now that I've said all that, don't go there!

This place gets really crowded. We came at 6 and there was already a wait. We got seated at the bar area close to the door, and because there were so many people, it always felt like someone was in my space. This girl next to me kept on swinging her hair and it kept brush against me, and nearly  got in my food.
This is a wine bar, and I have to say, the wine is good there. If I was to rate the wine and the selection, I would give it a 4.5. The food was not that great though. We ordered quite a lot of dishes, meat platter, this mushroom spretzels, pig ass panini, goose breast sandwich (I did not know it was a sandwich, there was no indication on the menu that it was a sandwich), and the beef brisket bun.
Out of all, I would say the beef brisket bun was the best dish out of all. The meat was tender, but the sauce was too overpowering. I have definitely had better ones for cheaper elsewhere. The mushroom spretzles was ok, nothing special really. Everyone raved about the pig ass panini, so my friend really wanted to try it. Turns out, it was a disappointment. It was a decent sandwich, and the sauce was fairly good, but it wasn't meaty enough.
All in all, this is a good place for happy hour, or like drinks with friends, but I would not go here for dinner or to eat.
Even a year after moving away from the neighborhood (and NY state), this is still my favorite place in all of NY. Wine & cheese is their specialty (including goats milk for the lactards like me), but all the food is amazing. Even better is the staff & the vibe of this place. There's no reservations but it's completely worth the wait. You're never rushed and always treated well. My advice is to ask the waitstaff & bartender for suggestions and try new things, you'll definitely be pleased.
Review Source:What a beautiful place. Upon walking in, the warm lighting and inviting atmosphere let you know that you are in for a wonderful evening.
The menu is mostly small plates (even the ones called "large" are within reason) with tons of wine and cheese choices. We had a soft sheep's milk cheese with Pinot Noir.
The appetizer of Bacon Butter Popcorn immediately caught my attention. The popcorn was good, but a little charred. The bacon butter adds a delicate flavor that is almost perfect and almost hid the charred popcorn.
I has the Pig's Ass sandwich which is like a Cubano with a chipotle sauce. It was quite delicious.
The wait staff is attentive without being bothersome. This is the perfect place in HK to come for a date.
All in all a great place that I can't wait to visit again. Just make sure the popcorn isn't over-cooked!
Casellula is one of those typical NY places, where ordering little things adds up to a monstrous check. And the thing that bugs me the most is, aside from a few distinct things on the menu (hi pork butt sandwich -- I love you!), nothing is, well, remarkable.
The last time I was there, I looked at the check, looked away from the check, looked down again to make sure I saw the total correctly but still was like: 0_0
$400~USD for:
Three people
Two glasses of sparkling
Two glasses of white
Two bottles of wine
Five cheeses
Three meats
Mac and cheese
Tax and tip
I mean. lolwut?
I like Casellula but not $400~ much.
That's like, a pair of Louboutins on sale or
Three bottles of '98 Veuve Clicquot Le Grande Dame Brut
Two trips to Bohemian, omakase with alcohol where the food is ten times more satisfactory
A six month supply of cheese from Murray's
Or like a 100ish bottles of two buck Chuck that is four bucks in NYC -- at least the last time I checked it was four.

Lovely wine and cheese place! As soon as you walk into the high ceiling, brick wall, dim lit restaurant, you know you are going to have a nice evening. The vibe here is sexy and comforting. I sat at the bar waiting for my friend and started with a glass of Argentinian Cabernet. I wanted a cheese to snack on alongside my glass of red and asked for suggestions. Though the woman behind the bar did not have a warm demeanor matching the vibe of the place, she did provide an excellent suggestion, the Hudson Red, which matched my wine perfectly.
The Hudson Red is a Raw cow, washed cheese from Twin Maple Farm with a buttery smooth and stinky nature. It was dressed with a bit of balsamic glaze and sunchokes and was quite perfect. After a few sips and bites, I was fully relaxed and my mood had warmed.
My friend arrived and she joined me at the bar and we ordered the Ricotta Crostini, the Pigs Butt Sandwich and the Grilled Cheese. The ricotta crostini has such a light and fresh flavor from the cheese and the lemon. The hazelnuts added texture and the bit of honey created a nice sweetness. We both enjoyed this.
The pigs butt sandwich was also quite delicious. It was salty but in a good way and went perfectly with the pickles and the chipotle aioli. It reminded me of a cuban sandwich and I would definitely recommend.
Unfortunately, the grilled cheese was way too mellow and a bit bland in flavor. It needed some punch to it and was the least favorite of the night. We added a bit of the chipotle mayo from the pig sandwich and that definitely helped it a bit.
Finally we had the chocolate cake which they drenched in cream. I mean, literally, they poured a cup of cream on top of it. But the cream was not sweetened at all and I tried to get as little cream possible in every bite of cake. The cake was moist and delicious though and if the cream was just a bit more sweetened, this would have worked much better.
Overall, this place has an amazing vibe and ambiance and I would definitely recommend it for some wine and cheese before or after dinner. You might end up staying there all night drunk off the wine and cheese and missing dinner actually, I can definitely see that happening to me for sure!
Once asked what my ultimate romantic fantasy would be, I replied that it would be to be inside Casellula by myself, with all the cheese and their pairings, and a tub of chili mead to wash it all down with.
This place is tiny, no reservations, and there is no kitchen in the back. I'll wait eternity for a table. Once Garreth G. and I sat at the bar watching them cook everything and it was the equivalent to two men (though I'm not a man) throwing dollars to a stripper. We sat there, eyes wide and mouths salivating watching everything that was being cooked on a studio apartment sized stove, ooooo-ing and ahhhhh-ing because everything looked so damn good. We always over-eat when we are there.
When we go there, we put our well being into the hands of their knowledgeable wait staff when choosing cheeses. Â Whatever they gave is always effing delicious. With every bite, I told my boyfriend that this place makes me love him and everything more.
List of things to get:
Chicken Liver Pate
Shrimp Taco
Goose Breast Ruben
Pig's Ass Sandwich
CHILI MEAD
CHILI MEAD
CHILI MEAD
I cannot stress how important it is to get the Chili Mead. It's so underrated. I've read about mead in Beowulf and LOTR but once I've tried it, my life had changed foreverrrrrrr. It's the piss of the gods. Seriously.
Listen- there are a lot of wine and cheese bars in the city, but this place is just out of this world.
I'm going to be honest and say that I don't know anything about wine except that there are a few different kinds and you're supposed to swirl the red. I also don't know anything about cheese except that you eat them with bread and crackers.
So in light of my ignorance, I literally picked a glass of wine off the menu and asked the waitress to pair cheeses based on the wine, and I truly believe that this is the best way to experience this restaurant. She gave me the most exquisite cheeses and pairings that I've ever had in my life. She brought me cheeses with caramel fudge and sesame crackers. It was so SO good. Trust me when I say that the waiters/waitresses know what they're talking about.
This is a great place to impress a girl. It's romantic and sweet and very NYC.
HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
They really know their sh*t!!!! They know how to pair the wines and cheeses and the food so good that I had to take their ideas to my home kitchen. I've been here so many times and it's the only place that has a (MUST TRY) Â spicy chili mead from South Africa. They have a wide variety of wines and cheeses and a lot of stuff I can not pronounce because that's how baller it is.
The food is impeccable. Best place! Seriously you better go here. They don't take reservations though because if they did that place would be booked for months and I would not be happy.
If your stuck waiting for an empty table then you can order drinks while waiting. I can eat and drink here every weekend. God I love cheese, especially when it is paired well with wine.
I took my girl here on our third date and wow, what a winner!
The waiter (Grady I believe his name was) was fantastic, knew the menu and wine list very well and was a great mix between professional and friendly (he got a 30% tip and a hug on our way out). As someone who not only dines out very often and has for years all over the world plus worked in the hospitality industry for years, I really appreciate a good waiter but am very critical, Grady as excellent.
Food was incredible and the wine selection is fantastic and I'm a very fussy diner, they even have some meads available that are a great dessert drink.
Only bummer is that they don't take reservations or I'd probably have booked in once a week for a year!
This place was great.
Tacos - delicious
Olives- very tasty
Pigs Ass Sandwich - one of the best things I've had in a while, so much flavor!
White bean dish- great
Mushroom dish- 2nd favorite thing on the menu
We did not even drink, got sparkling water. The place has a lot of charm and friendly waiters. Go there!
Was introduced to this wine and cheese bar through a coworker and I had never been to a wine and cheese bar so I decided to wait to review this place until I had tried some other places. Â I have to say, I am impressed!! Â
A few things to note: Do not come here unless you are willing to drop at least $100 on a bottle of wine and some cheese. Â As one of my friends put it, "I just had a $100 snack!" Â Haha
I really do like the ambiance though - it is a smaller venue and will get filled quickly if you do not arrive there immediately after work or later on in the evening. Â It is the kind of place you'd go with one or two other friends or a significant other as the tables are rather small. Â
The cheese selections are great, and constantly changing. Â I've been twice now and I always allow the servers and cheese connoisseurs in the back make my selection of cheeses, and I have not been disappointed to date. Â Although, I did have one of my cheeses paired with a quail egg which I thought was different and a little too exotic for me. Â :)
Definitely recommend this place to all wine and cheese fans!
Absolutely one of the best places to get your cheese fix on. Â The staff is very knowledgeable about all their cheeses and what pairs best with them. Â
With each different cheese there is an item paired with it whether it be a fruit or nuts or savory jam. Â Everything was perfect together. Â The sandwiches are also great but I think the winning items come from the cheese menu. Â A must is the ricotta crostini!
Come here early as it is a small place and gets crowded fast! Its a dark and romantic spot so go here for date night!
Somehow, some way...I forgot to review Casellula, yet I send people here quite often!
My mother and I ventured in after catching a show. Casellula is located just far enough away to avoid the craziness of the theater district. Tucked away, you'll be situated amongst revelers enjoying wine and fabulous food. We enjoyed some lovely red, a plate of cheese, and a heavenly dessert that escapes me now. It didn't then though, I assure you.
Great for an after theater drink or dinner/snacks, without the theater crowd...
We really wanted to love this place. Cute, nice ambiance.
Service: 2-stars. Â we sat at the bar and the entire night our waitress was chatting with her friends sitting next to us. Despite the proximity, we had to wave and interrupt their conversation to get her attention. She was very nice, just didn't care much about customers that night.
Wine: 3.5-stars. great bottle selection, not so much by the glass, which was surprising. Saw a few bottles transfers happening (same wine in appearance), still surprising to see.
Food: 3-stars. hit or miss. We tried four different plates.
- Mac & cheese: OK - 3 stars
- Beef brisket: 4 stars
- peppadew peppers: 2 stars, not much flavor
- Crostini: 4 stars
We haven't tried the cheese (they have an amazing selection). Hopefully we'll try again and get a more attentive waitress.
Before you make this your destination, take the following under advisement: even on a random weeknight, this place gets pretty crowded...and for good reason.
wine+cheese+random other fatty products+dim lighting = heaven.
Seriously. But it is not recommended you roll up, like I did, with a group of 5 people at 9:00pm. You're basically just asking to a. get crammed into a tiny space, or b. wait a while for a table to open up.
And wait we did, but not too long. Â Plus, it was all worth it once the wine was poured. Â I wouldn't call this the best place for groups, but certainly incredible had I come with a date (instead of 3 aspiring bankers in suits and one pretty lady). Â In fact, the next time I find myself in NY with a date (yeah yeah, excluding that entire summer I just spent there with a date and never visited this place - not my fault), this is at the top of my list. Â
The atmosphere is so romantic. it just screams: "hi, come in, sit close and whisper sweet nothings to one another in a dark corner. Â Go ahead and play footsies, graze hand on leg, stare longingly, touch hair, flirt, giggle, drink wine, be merry." Â I'd even venture to say that because this place is so adorably, casually romantic, you could walk in with a dude strictly in your "friend zone", and walk out wanting to kiss him deeply in the rain. Â You were warned.
Word of caution: if this is the preface to a longer, more private main event (read between the lines, kids), you should know that the food here, while small-portions, is a bit filling and heavy (deceptively so for such tiny bites). Â Think meats, cheeses, jams, grilled cheese stuffed with pork belly, etc...so if you're planning a night of activity, or you're wearing a tight little dress, go easy on the nibbles.
Have fun, be safe, make good choices!
My wife and I had the pleasure to dine at Casellula while we were in New York. Â We actually live in San Francisco and I was there on a work/pleasure trip. Â My wife heard about your place through a realtor out here and her daughter goes to NYU. Â She recommended your restaurant.
So we get to your restaurant. Â Our server for the evening was Bryan, I think from Alaska. Â We started the dinner off with a Chardonnay from France which we both enjoyed. Â We then ordered the sherry bacon popcorn along with the Ricotta Crostini. Â Those two appetizers complimented the wine perfectly. Â Excellent how the sherry cut the richness of the bacon on the popcorn. Â I think it would be better to have an air pop machine where you can make it fresh out the gate, but not sure how much noise that would make (either way it was really good). Â The crostini was fantastic with the lemon zest, orange blossom honey, and hazlenut. Â Excellent app and I am taking it for my next dinner party.
I then orderd a glass of the Sassaia Barbera along with the pate. Â The Barbera was fantastic. Â My wife and I are huge pate fans. Â The pate you served us was some of the best we have eating and we have had our fair share of pate through the years. Â I loved the pink peppercorns on top. Â Not to big of a fan of the fig jam with the pate, but that is just me. Â I just ate it alone and was horribly satisfying (please ship some to our house). Â We ordered the Steamed Buns after the pate. Â God damn those were excellent. Â We want more now.......
We then proceeded to order some St. Innocent Pinot Noir from Oregon. Â We know Oregon has good Pinots and this one was excellent. Â Along with the Pinot we order some Keens Cheddar because we just can not resist eating cheese. Â The one thing that caught our eye was the Pig Ass Sandwhich. Â Wow was that so good. Â It seems they steamed it, pressed it on all sides for caramelization, and served with I think a paprika/pepper aioli. Â We are very social folks so we actually had the chef cut it in fours and we shared it with a couple at the bar. Â I am not sure if that was the best thing we ate because everything was really good, but damn it was tasty.
I mean by then we were done, but Bryan was bragging how good of a pastry chef you had. Â So twist our arm. Â We went with the chocolate cake with cream. Â The cake was really moist, chocolaty, not too much. Â Then he poured it seemed just some heavy cream over the top. Â What a really good idea. Â Our overall experience was a 10 and we are truely thankful for an excellent dining experience.
I heard great things about Casellula so I had a high expectation going in. Â The place fell flat for my first visit.
I came around 7:30pm on a Saturday with a friend, and we got a table right away. Â We were agreeing on a sweet and fruity red, and we asked for the server's recommendation. Â He suggested the Castello Luzzano "Carlino" Bonarda, and we gave it a shot. Â It was just okay, lack of depth and a little too much tannins. Â Guess you can't expect much out of a $50 bottle? Â We also had a small bottle of Domaine Paul Blanck Riesling from Alsace. Â Naturally a riesling drinker, the bottle didn't leave an impression on me. Â It was just plain.
The Mac n Cheese, on the other hand, was fantastic. Â We ordered it with bacon. Â It came soaked in grease, hot with parmesan cheese on top. Â Every bite was a delightment. Â
Ambiance was decent. Â I liked the brick wall and the simple layout of the place. Â I wasn't keen for the close proximity of the tables, however. Â I at one point moved my arms and bumped into the lady sitting at the next table behind me. Â Awkward.
I would try to come earlier next time to avoid the late night weekend crowd.
